I ordered this book for my brother for Christmas, but--being a big John Wayne fan-I had to read it first before wrapping it up for him. We kids were raised on John Wayne, he felt like part of the family (not only because he reminded me of my Uncle Ed), but because he was there every holiday when it was John Wayne movie marathons, every summer at the drive in when his new movie came out. After we saw Hatari, we gathered all our trucks & toy jungle animals & played Hatari every chance we got; we played Aggravation marathons in the basement listening to the Hatari soundtrack on repeat. We could rattle off dialog from his movies word for word. He's been a part of our life all our lives. This book begins with every part he's ever played in any movie, even uncredited with no lines appearing for seconds on the screen in a blink-&-miss-it role. There is the important information--title, release date, director--then a short re-cap of the plot. As his fame grows, so do the re-caps, sometimes with interesting anecdotes, co-stars, & pertinent info. And photos--so many glorious photos all numbered & captioned, of movie scenes, behind-the-scenes, memorabilia, movie posters. It covers them all, start to finish. It's like taking a walk through my childhood, so many memories. I just may have to buy a copy for myself. If you're a fan, this is the book for you. I love it!

"Duke: The Official John Wayne Movie Book" is a great edition to the library of any fan of John Wayne, like me. It's filled with information about every one of Wayne's films and it has a lot of great pictures. I enjoyed reading this book and I'm sure every time I watch one his movies I'll be referring back to it.

Loaded with great photos on every page. The movie summaries were good, but could have been written with a more critical eye. Not every movie he did was a winner. Still, a good overview for anyone interested in the Duke.
