AJ and Emily!!! Some of my favorite dive heroines! They’ve left the Cayman Islands and are off to Key West but, as always seems to happen, have found themselves in quite a pickle. A book that reads like the National Treasure of wreck diving, this one leads the ladies on a pathway of clues for legit treasure….albeit stolen….but still….
Harvey has done it again. Made my heart race, led me through real life wrecks, added some humor, and even incorporated characters I love from other authors. Once again…BRAVO!
Special THANK YOU to my friend, Nicholas Harvey, for the advanced copy!!

As with the rest of Nicholas Harvey's books, you know what you're going to get, you just don't know how he's going to serve it up! You can count on great diving, underwater danger, and suspense; the danger doesn't quit when his characters step off the boat. And in this case, it's not just his characters, he's got one on loan from Nick Sullivan. He also switched up locations on us, coming north to the Florida Keys.

This one gets steamrolling by the end, so buckle up and hang on, you're in for a heck of a ride!

Brits in the Keys!

When AJ and Emily go on holiday, what could possibly go wrong? An immensely entertaining adventure with all the key components we've come to expect from Nicholas Harvey's AJ Bailey series; friends in peril, frantic efforts to rescue them, realistic locations, and, of course, diving!

The wreck diving scenes are particularly well written; clear, easy to picture in the mind, and suspenseful. The Reef Smart diagrams are a nice addition to the story and an effective way of helping the reader visualize the scene.

Nick Sullivan’s Emily Durand character was spot-on and a special treat for readers of The Deep series. Emily’s unique personality could easily be a scene-stealer, but Mr. Harvey did a great job of keeping her true to character while still making this an AJ Bailey story.

A great 12th addition to the series. Eagerly looking forward to book number 13.

I have been loving this series but this book fell flat for me. it's almost as though the author was trying to insert elements of a cosy mystery. Why didn't the characters take being followed, threatened with guns seriously in many instances and why did they laugh at inappropriate happenings? Hope the next book goes back to a more 'realistic' format and interactions.

AJ goes back to the beginning

A nice stroll back in time and just goes to show that commonwealthers do stay together when they meet up as expats! AJ goes to visit the people who helped her get her start in diving…of course nothing goes to plan and havoc ensues!

Another great AJ adventure. It brought back fond memories when the old Ocean Divers was mentioned. Spent a lot of weekends on the Cap'n Crunch back in the 80's before she succumbed to the leaky bilge off Molasses Reef. That bilge pump ran 24/7.
Look forward to the next adventure.

Kinda slow at first

Then it kicked into high gear. Rock an roll from then on. Interesting story, with some unsavory characters. Kept it interesting.
Rock on!

WAY TOO MUCH TO SAY TOO LITTLE

Extremely long winded and boring and lacking romance of place and people.
Long drawn out dialogues which have no impact or meaning or real direction!

This was like a roller coaster ride of suspense and tension! The story is so well written it just kept me on the edge of my seat!! I especially love Emily‘s reaction to the gnome, I laughed so hard!! Had me guessing about Johnny and Reid. I love the pictures of the wrecks, it really helped me to picture in my mind where AJ was. OK, The goliath grouper is something I don’t ever wanna encounter, and I thought Sharks were bad!!

Not the author's best

I've enjoyed this series until this book. It was not well written with an unbelievable story line from figuring out Rosie's codes to AJ making the dangerous dives alone and finding the gems! The characters were blah and just not likable. I found myself skipping ahead in parts, which I've never done.

Another fun SCUBA adventure

As a SCUBA diver who has been diving in Key Largo, I enjoyed reading about AJ's adventures in places I have been. I loved that the dive site maps were included in the book.

Key Largo

Another in the AJ Bailey series. This one is a bit different in that the story takes place in Key Largo rather than AJ's usual haunt of Grand Cayman Island. It also involves a whole new cast of characters. Still a good easy read with a whole lot of diving involved.

Another Hit!

Mr. Harvey continues to produce great, fun reading at an amazing pace. Don’t know how he does it, but hope he keeps it up or I won’t have anything to read.

This was a great dive into a different location. It has been years since I was to the keys but I could picture some of the layout.

I would have given this three stars instead of two, but Emily was an utterly dreadful character who grated on my nerves every single time she appeared. AJ also made some stupid decision-making. It was so frustrating it actively dragged the story down. This book being set in The Keys means a whole bunch of the regular characters were missing.
