An historical account of Charles II's mistresses, particularly focusing on Lucy Walter, Barbara Villiers, Louise de Keroualle and Nell Gwynne, examining their characters and roles.

He has also written about the British aristocracy and worked as a translator.
A delightful investigation into the lives of 4 of Charles IIs mistresses. masters obviously loves his subject, and the book is awash with incidental details that bring not only the characters involved but much of the period around them to life. Thoroughly enjoyable.
