I've been trying to come up with a better term for what I'm trying to describe, but I keep returning to buoyancy. His stories speak of good times and bad, offered with courageous honesty. It's a very impressive quality in writing and in life. Well done, Mr. Kehoe! And finally, his New York book editor wrote... phenomenal stories, fabulous sense of humor, famous "telling detail," dead-on honesty, and heartbreaking pathos. 👣You simply cannot develop as a human being without experience, as that is the only way to grow—through pain, through learning, and through struggles, as well as through love, happiness, and pleasure.
These things make us human, and it’s our humanity that allows us to pass our experiences on so that others may learn from them.
👣The mark of a good book is that the reader can't put it down, and when you do, you can't wait to get back to it. The mark of an outstanding book is that its words and ideas stay with you, and you find yourself thinking about them and their implications for the way you live your life.
👣This book is basically a memoir of an average guy like most of the people, who's not a celebrity or famous, just a regular average person sharing his pov's & lessons he acquired from his life. The guy who shows up, and, win or lose, tries to do the right thing.
👣 Throughout the thirty-seven chapters, each chapter has a separate event with some small insight about life and people, that might make you laugh or cry, and you might even see yourself in them.
👣The book is a amazing memoir that delivers life lessons with page turning humor and irreverence. It was a joyful read & it really lightened up my mood. I've read a lot of memoirs but this one is worth it. This might be a good fit for you.
One Hit Wonder: The Real life Adventures of an Average Guy and the Lessons He Learned Along the Way by Kevin R Kehoe is a grounded and reflective memoir-style book that draws meaning from everyday experiences. The author presents life through an honest and relatable lens, focusing on personal moments that shape character, perspective, and growth over time.
What stands out most in this book is its simplicity and authenticity. Rather than relying on extraordinary events, the narrative highlights the value of ordinary life experiences and the lessons embedded within them. This approach makes the content highly relatable, especially for readers who appreciate real life storytelling and practical life insights.
The writing carries a conversational and reflective tone, encouraging readers to pause and consider their own life journey. It emphasizes growth through experience, resilience through setbacks, and wisdom gained from reflection.
Overall, it is an easy to connect with and meaningful read that reminds readers that valuable lessons are often found in everyday life rather than exceptional circumstances.
There is a lot of life advice coming from an average guy who has done a whole lot and experienced a whole lot. The author, Kevin, is great at writing. The flow of his sentences are easy to get through.
Each chapter focuses on one key story in his life that has a lesson to tell. There is not really a discernible structure to the book but each chapter is clear and concise. I think it's definitely a great book to bring on a trip with you, to read by the beach or in the hotel. It makes you think about your own life and how you can apply some of these lessons that Kevin has to teach us.
I was first acquainted with who Kevin Kehoe was at NCLC during a luncheon in his honor. A friend of mine was given this memoir and I borrowed it from him. The book is enjoyable, easy to read in chunks, and has great lessons and stories for anyone to learn. But what this book made me appreciate are the upstanding people who have come into my life and past through it. They have all taught me great lessons on how to be a decent human being and for them I am eternally greatful
I knew Kevin from Using Aspire software and always enjoyed listening to his advice. I wanted to read his book to get to know him better. This is a well written book and worth the read to pay respect to a great guy.
Great Book. Super entertaining, inspirational and a page turner. I'm not a big book reader since I read all day online. One Hit Wonder was a pleasant surprise.
