The only thing that can take Hermione's mind off of how much she loathes her repugnant Potions partner are the notes from her mysterious pen pal.

And as for Pansy? She just wants to find a way to cast a permanent Silencio on Granger, and to reply to the charming stranger on the other end of her magical parchment.

This was okay but 1) it could have been half the length or less, and 2) it fell into that classic fan fiction trap where the ending is sickeningly happily ever after and simply TOO fluffy. Meh.

This isn't the best piece of literature ever written, but it's a fun read and it satisfied my obsession with this pairing. I admit I'm not a fan of the Ex-Bully thing going on here...

I'm not going to pretend that this is the best fiction in the world, but I sort of am.

It made me so stupid happy. I cried at the end when there was the epilogue and how they exchanged presents and went to Paris. Honestly, it's just an amazing experience to read 300k words worth of these two witches growing as people. They overcome challenges between themselves as well as with others close to them. They confront racism, homophobia, and their prejudices, they come out better and they're really in love with each other. To be honest, I couldn't have asked for anything better.

I expect that despite the fact that it's fanfiction and despite the fact that it's *fanfiction* I'll come back to it many times in the future. Thank you to piersofage for creating something that makes me feel so warm and happy.

Now, for my favorite quotes(there are A LOT)
“Oh, Merlin. Can you imagine falling in love with Granger via letter?” Daphne says with a laugh. “You’d tell her you’re in love with her and she’d correct your grammar and ask for rewrites.”
-
“I don’t deserve you,” she murmurs after a moment, her voice a bit thicker than she expected.
“No. You certainly don’t. But you’re stuck with me,” Daphne says with a smile. “I love you. Everything about you.”
-
“Zonko’s is a joke shop, and I can’t think of a bigger joke than going on a date with Ron Weasley.”
-
I won’t close my eyes at all tonight, if that’s what you need. I won’t close my eyes all week.
-
Butterflies.
*Actual* butterflies.

Raise your hands if Hermione's endless denial feels familiar...
-
“Whispering Alohomora to a boy’s crotch is hardly legendary,”
-
Hermione heaves a sigh of relief as she picks up her quill, pleased that no matter what happens between her and her parchment pal, she’ll never have to pretend to like Quidditch in her presence.
-
“The dragon,” Pansy says. “I’d let you borrow it in a heartbeat. Even if just for commiseration,” she adds. “I’d probably let you borrow anything, if I’m being honest.”
-
The scene of dancing in the library and then the 'time turned' Yule ball especially, they were my favorite.
-
“You’re not getting a flock of cats named after you. I’m not even having a flock of cats! And again, I never said you were right.”
-
anything without my supervision again.” She had paused, then said, “which of course means I’ll eventually have to bear witness to you and Granger shagging, so I’d suggest you develop a taste for exhibitionism, and you develop it quickly.”
-
But at the end of the day, Pansy is Hermione’s bard.
And a bard always finds the right words.
A small, almost shy smile finds its way to Pansy’s face.
She takes a deep breath.
And standing there in the golden glow of the late afternoon sun, in front of the woman who means everything to her, Pansy murmurs the only two words she could possibly say after all this time.
“Hello, Robin.”
(AHHHH TEHEEE TEEEHEHEH🥰🥰🥰🤭🤭🤭)
-
“Twenty points to Slytherin and Gryffindor, for extraordinary stamina,”
“House unity?” Hermione asked against her better judgment, completely confused by the addition.
“Mm,” Pansy hummed, a sly look on her face. “Y’know, for… coming …together?”
-
“I know the answer to this is probably no, but…have you ever snogged Longbottom?”
“What?”
“I have a theory about him that I want to check.”

(IT'S ALWAYS THE ONES YOU LEAST EXPECT)
-
cordial to,” Pansy says as she runs a hand up and down Hermione’s thigh. “Lovegood, Longbottom, Potter, Weasley, Weasley…Weasley, Weasley, Weasley, Weasley, Weas—”
-
“Right…” Pansy says hesitantly. “So does that mean…Daphne the cat, then?”
-
“No, nor do I. But it has to end,” Pansy says gently, taking Hermione’s hands. “After all, we’ve got the rest of our lives to get to.”
Perhaps Hermione should gently chastise Pansy for thinking so far ahead, but she won’t. Because she believes her. She believes that they’ve got a lifetime ahead of them, filled to the brim with memories that are theirs for the taking. And the fact of the matter is, Hermione can’t imagine her future with anyone else. She gave her heart away months ago to a mysterious bard, and now, she’s trusting Pansy with it til the end of her days, til the mountains crumble and the stars fall, til forever comes and goes. Because she knows that this is it for her. She knows that Pansy is the love of her life in the same way she knows the sky is blue—it’s a simple, immutable fact that no amount of time could ever change. It sits heavy and true in her chest, somehow both more logical and illogical than anything has ever been. She can’t explain it—it simply is, and it always will be.
-
Something that feels like a silent promise of forever.
-
“You’re worth all of it,” Pansy says, gently interrupting when it becomes clear that Hermione is still overwhelmed. “You’re worth grading papers and talking to Lovegood and meeting all two hundred and seventy-two Weasleys. I’d throw you a Yule Ball every night of the week if I could.”
