Are - a new runner? - an experienced runner seeking improved performance? - an injured runner, or a runner with a history of running injuries? - a triathlete, searching for that improved run split? - or a runner simply trying to remain injury-free and improve your performance, all at the same time?
Allan Besselink has a unique voice in the world of sport and health care, one that has been defined by his experiences as physiotherapist, coach, educator, patient, athlete, and fan.
Allan's journey began in Brockville, Canada - a quaint community on the banks of the St. Lawrence River. He went on to complete his PT education at Queen's University in 1988. In 1990 his love of live music lead him to Austin, Texas which has been his home for the past 18 years.
His journey has seen him cross the finish line at an Ironman triathlon, complete the highest level of training in the McKenzie Method, and play guitar at more than a few live music venues.
Through the Smart Life Institute, Allan is helping to make Austin a truly progressive and sports sciences-based 21st century running community.
Allan enjoys writing on his blog, photography, music, running, and cycling, and discussions on just about anything.
