This book is such a rollercoaster. It takes you in so many directions and hits you with so many things that your not expecting to happen.

Time after time: Backward is set in the 1700s. I love this period of time as I love watching programmes and seeing the dresses and all sorts. It reminds me of Catherine Cookson programmes that I would watch with my mum when I was younger.

We have the lovely Katherine who is set to marry the very handsome Henry but is later told that he has been hanged for being a traitor to his country. Katherine is heart broken and is sent to stay with her brother Edward and his wife Lucy. Katherine has always been looked upon by her mother. Nothing she does is ever good enough and this is mentioned all the way through the book. She does have a good relationship with her father.

After a period of time, Katherine is set to marry Arthur. The king's cousin and don't we hear about how royal he is out through the book. Katherine is settling in to the thought of marrying Arthur until one day she hears of a rumour. One she isnt expecting to hear. Is Henry really alive??? Katherine has to make a massive decision. Does she marry Arthur and forget about Henry or does she go in search for the man she once loved??

This is where I'm going to leave my review as I don't want to waste the plot entirely for folks.

I didn't know if I was going to enjoy this book but I was pleasantly surprised by it. I loved the twists and turns and the excitement of it at times. I gave it 4 stars because I didn't get the ending I wanted haha. Definitely worth a read 🙂

I really liked this book, I loved the relationship between Kathrine and Henry, it was so swoon-y and I loved the angst and drama as the story went on.
I will say, in as vague of terms as I can so not to spoil anything, I didn’t find that Katherine’s reasoning for staying in her current circumstance for as long as she did very strong, I thought if the stakes were higher at that point it would have made more sense. That being said I really like this book, it gave me all the feels and it far exceeded my expectations.

This novel takes place in England during the late 1700's as the Revolutionary War is being waged. We follow the life of the main character, Katherine Whyte, an upper-class woman who is dominated by her family. The role of women and the existence of class systems during this time are explored as a good story is told.

A decent read, and I empathized with the characters, but I just didn't like the way the plot went. I actually didn't finish it. I got curious and looked ahead at the end and was definitely disappointed. I suppose it's a realistic story, but just not the one I want to read.

Found this author on Tik Tok. Overall I enjoyed the book. The characters were interesting. However the ending felt rushed and a bit abrupt.
