It was hard to imagine the post-apocalyptic world that only existed in the movies, had suddenly become reality in the city of Matana. With the Budlyt-19 virus continuing to spread, leading pharmaceutical companies battle for the antidote and the wealth they would be rewarded with in return. Little did Nadia know she would unwillingly be entangled in the pharmaceutical corruption of LithLabs after receiving cryptic messages from an anonymous source. Taken against her own will, Nadia becomes the test subject of a gruelling medical trial and is injected with a deep purple dose of Budlyt-19.
Friends turn to foes, loyalty turns to betrayal and antidote turns to obsession in a capitalist pursuit of Matana. Will Nadia ever escape the hands of corruption? Or will the colour purple stay true to its meaning of wealth, power and ambition for the corrupt.
Unique in storyline and creation, this book project was written and illustrated by over 100 contributors from around the globe. Created in the midst of a global pandemic, the strongest chapters were born from the toughest times.

I received a gifted copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via Austin Macauley Publishers.

The Moving Type is a truly unique book that is one story with one-hundred writers contributions to it and edited by one person to craft it in to shape.
The story is about a global virus similar to covid called Budlyt-19 and the global pandemic it causes. The book is fast paced and full of action with elements of suspense too. We see huge pharmaceutical companies battle each other for the antidote to this virus and see the main character Nadia become entangled in the corruption of LifaLabs pharmaceutical after receiving a cryptic message anonymously. She then becomes a real life test subject for the antidote solution to the virus and is injected with a purple dose of the live virus. We see people turn on each other, stakes made high and corruption abound in this fast paced dystopian post-apocalyptic thriller where no one can be trusted.
I flew through this book and found it very well edited considering it has such a high amount of contributions to the story.

As a person who loves to read dystopian books, I couldn’t help but get curious about this book set in the post-apocalyptic world. In this novel, the Budlyt-19 virus continued to spread over the world. Companies battle over the antidote and one of the main characters gets inwillingly entangled in the world of pharmaceutical tests, as the test subject. Lured in by her cousin, a world of corruption and betrayal unfolds itself.

Personally, I am not very familiar with books written by over a hundred contributors. I was slightly afraid that the differences in writing styles would take away the flow of the book. But this book is so well-edited, that even though different authors focused on different aspectd and characters, the book doesn’t lose its flow!

What was slightly unappealing to me, was the fact that each chapter ended in a sort of cliffhanger. Since each chapter is about 3-4 pages, that was a little much for me.

However, the story contains suspense, action, and moves quickly from one scenario to the next. Each chapter is combined with beautiful drawings, which I think is an eye-catching finishing touch to the book.

I would recommend this book if you like to read a dramatic and thrilling novel that contains dystopian elements!

The Moving Type is a remarkable piece of literary work that defies expectations. The narrative follows a gripping tale of four friends caught in a pharmaceutical conspiracy during a global pandemic, with a near sci-fi premise. This project, born during the pandemic, holds the Guinness World Record for the most contributions to a published work of fiction, with 122 contributors. I’m no fiction fan, and reading novels is not my thing, but The Moving Type totally hooked me! What kept me glued to the book was the disbelief that so many authors from all over the world, most of them starngers to each other, contribute to a single story and yet it flowed so smoothly that it totally rubbished the saying, "Too many cooks spoil the broth". Its creator, Devika Sharma, has done a remarkable work. Truly inspiring. I highly recommend everyone to grab this book—it’s one-of-a-kind. Besides, the proceeds go to a charitable cause.
