Liv feels as if her problems are pulling her apart. Her new transformation has left her with powers she doesn’t want. Jared has decided to stay in Ellengale, but has started to get annoyingly possessive of her. Luke is still vanishing into Shadeland, and his trips are getting longer. There are more attacks in town, and Liv’s older brother Neeson seems to be involved. Desperate for help, Liv contacts the only person she thinks will help her; and Agent Tang comes running. But when they discover that the deaths are actually casualties of a war they need to find out whose war it is, and Liv hopes Neeson isn’t part of it. Because if he is, SILC will have a new target to make disappear.
Miles is a Sun Scorpio with the heart of a Moon Pisces. She began her publishing journey in 2012, admittedly maybe a little too soon. Her eclectic taste comes through in each book she writes, ranging from soft fantasy romances to dark brooding poetry to serial killers that hold a grudge.
Liv's need to solve crimes and save lives leads her to yet more bodies with curious circumstances. Due to her condition, her loved ones have once again banned her from going anywhere dead and spooky, but who is she to kid? She's going to find out how to help one way or another.
The murder mysteries were great and the characters all contributed sometime or another, though a few seemed a little one-dimensional. The flow was alright, but because I've seen how Liv can be, I was disappointed to see her in this particular light. There really isn't much romance, and the love interest that is in this, doesn't even feel like a love interest. It's obvious he's into her, but she's constantly holding herself back or doing things that make it feel like she's genuinely not into him, and yet in the same scene, she'll find herself driving her poor self crazy wondering where he is. Didn't really get it, though in a way, I kinda do. I'm going to assume she's a very detached person slowly learning to feel and care.
So I'm three books invested into this series, and although I loved everything in this book, the character herself and the way the venom's made her slower is what drives me insane. I fell for this series because of how quick she was in the first book. Now the venom's changed her to be like the others, seeing the obvious but not knowing how they're connected. It drove me crazy listening to her monologue about seeing it but not being able to 'connect them because of the venom'. I almost feel like the venom was just an excuse to dumb her down so the suspense wouldn't be solved too quickly. Harsh, but it's how I feel, especially when she doesn't even want anything to do with what positive things the venom did give her. It's like, what's the venom even there for??? To finally make her feel??? I don't know... Kinda disappointing.
I recommend this for the detective and urban fantasy spiel.
Liv, Luke and Jared return in the thrilling 3rd installment of The Ethereal Crossings!
D. L. Miles has written another amazing novel! I'll try not to give away spoilers, but seeing as this is the third book in the series I might give a few things away. Sorry!
The story is well written and flows perfectly. Liv continues to be one of the best main characters I've read in a long time. She is slightly odd and reacts to things differently than most, you sort of never know what she'll do or say next. Which is awesome!
Things have changed between Jared and Liv (in a good way). My book crush on Jared lives on, of course. ;) I felt so bad when he was flirting with Liv and she was oblivious. It was really funny.
The world that D. L. has created is so full of strange creatures and crazy surprises. The series has been planned out wonderfully and every book has left me wanting more. Which brings me tot he ending of this book. Oh my goth! Major cliffhanger, I cannot wait until book four is out!
Fans of Charlaine Harris and Holly Black will love D. L. Miles!

well, this could have been a favorite sequel to Fenridge, but it wasn't sadly. I expected so much.. I was disappointed because:
- plot was too quick to be solved unlike Book 1 & 2 which were packed with action and witty lines - speaking of which, I felt like what I liked most about this series is missing in this one.. Jared's fun attitude and Liv's snark .. really? those were my treat ;_; - Jared's protectiveness was cute in Fenridge, but in this it was bordering on control. which is NOT cool :(
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED the reveal at the end about Liv's mom being a SILC and being there for Jared's dad murder, it was my fav. part of the story.. I can't wait for the next book simply because I hope Jared and Liv's awesome team will be back and more history between the two would be reveal.. I also loved the scene where Liv breaks down after she gets the news of Luke being back forever in Shadeland .. broke my heart and I loved Luke...

Still loving Liv and she is mostly back to normal in this book. I am a little frustrated on her behalf about how pretty much everyone around her keeps things from her to 'protect'her and I love how she just goes and does her own thing anyway. Jared & Neeson tell her to stay in the flat for safety and run off to do whatever. Liv just leaves to do her own investigating. I like Jared and Liv's relationship and how clueless she is to his flirting and reasons for wanting to know when she will be 18. One thing I am finding disappointing is her non relationship with Luke. We are told they have been best friends for years and we saw glimpse of that friendship in book 1 but since then they are more like strangers who share and apartment but never spend anytime together or talk to each other.
Another series that gripped me from start to finish! Very, very original interpretation of paranormal characters and action packed to boot. Found I couldn't put them down once I started reading.Start with "Shadeland", move on to "Fenridge", read this one, "Northcliffe" and then tap your feet while you (and I) anxiously await Book 4 - "Glenbrook" - coming soon, I hope!
Are you kidding me???? There is another book....egads, I don't know if I can take it. Again, this was a very good book. It kept you guessing all the way through.
