The newest series by USA TODAY bestselling author Bella Jewel, coming 2022...
Firstly, let me make this clear, I didn’t come here for drama. I came here to escape, to unwind, to relax in paradise. This place is meant to be everything epic the world can offer. A ranch, run by hot tattooed mountain men, that has been made into a retreat. An escape from the world, from all the stresses of daily life. Not only do you get to interact with said gorgeous men, but you get to be involved in the everyday running of the ranch, that is when you’re not hiking, fishing, riding horses, and relaxing. We’re the first group to camp hot stuff, and for what seems like the shortest time, it’s bliss. Hot, cowboy bliss. Horses and mountains, rivers and campfires. It’s exactly what I need. Don’t get me started on the man who seems scarily into me, even though I’m about as fun as a stone on the ground. I’m also as ugly as one. Okay, that’s a bit over the top. I’m not ugly. I am, however, nerdy. Men like him don’t look at girls like me…right? I have curves and glasses and my hair isn’t Sunkissed blond. Still, everything is going beautifully…until a body shows up. As if we’re in some sort of bad romantic comedy. One of my people…mine…is dead. Murdered. And now my little vacation has turned into a god damned murder mystery. With hot men, a camp full of nerds, and a whole lot of unanswered questions. This should be fun. A bloody good time, if you will…
Wasn't a fan. It felt like ML had to debase other girls for the FL to feel comfortable with who she was. Okay, yes, you are a nerd but be confident about it.
Plus, all the romance is in the first part and the thrill comes in the second.
Nerdy and curvy Lei sets up a retreat with her fellow musicians at a ranch run by a bunch of studly men and never guesses she'd draw the attention of the owner, Rhett who she feels is way out of her league. Super studly cowboy Rhett started the retreat in memory of his mother, but never counted on finding his girl in their first lot of visitors to the ranch. The death of one of his visitors may put his reputation (and the ranch) on the line.
This was a super cute, quick and smexy instalust story. Rhett was all in on day one, but Lei needed convincing it was all real. Not a super original storyline (how could someone that handsome be into nerdy and curvy ol' me), but it was funny, entertaining, and totally hit the spot in a feel good kind of way. I'm totally looking forward to reading the next story in the series.
I admit it's been a while since I've read a Bella Jewel novel, but I was not expecting this level of cheesiness from her stories. From the very first page, each of the characters came off as very superficial and cookie-cutter archetypes while the plot and dialogue felt very surface-level. I didn't particularly like or connect with any of the characters; I didn't even swoon over any of the "hot" guys as they all felt very forced and ingenuine. I correctly guessed the murderer before they were revealed, and I don't see myself continuing on in this series or reading any more by this author :(

OMG! This book was soo soo good. I wasn't expecting this at all. I literally read the book within a day. I couldn't leave it. While I was working yesterday, I was slapping myself mentally, because I wanted to finish as soon as I can and come back home to read it.
There was everything in this story - romance, funny situations, some crime drama and steamy steamy scenes.
I laughed soo much with Lei and Rhett. She was adorable and the situations she was getting into were so hilarious. And Rhett...he was a sexy man. The sparks between them were everywhere. From page one you can definately see that both were attracted to each other. The story pulls you in straight away and you keep turning pages of the book so you can see what happens next.
It is been a while when I enjoyed a book soo much. It's also been a while for me to read a book within a day. To be honest I still feel the affects from the book (even that I am at work now 😂). Definately recommend this book 💖.
Tropes: Contemporary Romance, romantic comedy, suspense, NA, band of brothers, blackmail, cowboy, heroine in danger, opposites attract, ugly duckling, virgin heroine
Lei is spending a vacation at a camp run by gorgeous cowboys or mountain men. She's supposed to be relaxing. Then a murder occurs and everything gets nowhere near relaxing. She doesn't think too much of herself looks wise but Rhett, the owner of the camp disagrees. Can he keep her safe and move further?
This story had a little bit of everything. Some parts were hilarious while others were ridiculous. I definitely didn't get bored. This is my honest opinion, freely given.
Looks like Bella has done it again!! Looks like we have another laugh out loud amazing series on our hands!! This was definitely a great start to a new series! Rhett is back and this time he is running the camp of your dreams…or nightmare however you want to look at it. He has his hot and crazy friends with him to run the camp and turn some heads. First up was the nerdy orchestra group including Lei the klutzy girl that has eyes for Rhett. Oh boy did I love this book. We had laugh out loud banter, crazy camp adventures a few crazy twists and turns and amazing chemistry! Everything we love about Bella Jewel books! I’m really excited about this series and I’m already looking forward to the next book in the series.
Oh yes! Another brilliant series to follow. This story has me literally barking out a laugh regularly! The humour is so well placed and at times totally unexpected that I couldn’t help but LOL!! Ms Jewel is a new author for me and I am so delighted I signed up for this story. Her writing is easy to get into with a gentle style. Her characters are instantly likeable and the humour is just right. I loved how this story had a bit more going on….. there was plenty to keep me interested….who doesn’t love rugged cowboys with muscles and charm? Then the ending shows we are in for a real treat with book 2.
*cringe* I want to give this one a higher rating, because I liked the overall premise and wanted it to be better, but there was just too much that sucked tbh.

Review/Notes From the blurb, I was expecting a romance meets murder mystery, where they're all stuck together trying to figure out who did it. Instead, this book was honestly a big let down. The murder doesn't happen until halfway through the book and then it's dismissed as an accident by almost everyone.
Things that bothered me:
- Rhett's "accent"? Ok, he works on a ranch, but does he need to say "ain't" and sound super uneducated all the time? But mostly...
- OMG WHY DOES RHETT SAY "FUCKIN'" IN EVERY SINGLE SENTENCE? Listen, I cuss a lot, but that was ridiculous. It was so often that it was distracting and weirdly became basically a personality trait for Rhett. My e-book search returned 99 results for "fuckin'", which doesn't seem like much, but almost every one of those was said by Rhett and the book is only 200 pages, so every other page basically.
- There's a weird side-plot with
- These characters are so 1-dimensional. Who even is Lei? She's described as "nerdy, awkward, and shy" and then goes on to be not at all shy and I don't see the nerdiness either? She plays in an orchestra...in fact, everyone there is from an orchestra. And yet, I don't think we ever even find out what instruments they play? What type of music? It was founded by Emily, who is just described as "older" but Lei is..21? So is Emily like, 30? So vague - just a random orchestral group founded by a woman and they play music together somewhere and that's all we know. Lei has basically one friend - Kara, her bestie on this trip with her. Supposedly she's friends with everyone else in the orchestra too, but...not really? She never mentions anything about her life back home, her friends or family or hobbies. She plays an instrument, is vaguely nerdy, and that is all. Also, "Lei" but she's only described as having brown hair and freckles and being super small and "curvy" (in Rhett's eyes)/"chunky" (in her mind) - is she of Asian descent? Lei is a Chinese name, but I don't think there's any indication she's Chinese-American? Rhett, meanwhile, is a hot (no really, this is driven home a billion times about how hot he is) rancher / mysterious possible criminal? / new business owner for this resort. He rides horses and says "fuckin'" every other word and....is obsessed with Lei from the moment he sets eyes on her. They've had like one interaction and his female friends are all *wow what did you do to him? he never smiles* Just going to say, in general, the character development is soooooo sorely lacking.
I enjoyed this first book in the Walker Hills series. I received an arc of this book and it was my first by this author. I felt the story was well written and had a lot of cute points but also had me sitting at the edge of my seat at moments ready to discover what was going to happen next. I also enjoyed the way the characters were described and as a girl who isn’t a size 2 and more of a size 12 I enjoy to read about curvy girls. There were a few points where I felt I would have liked more information or back story and there may be some tie ins with previous series that may fill in those blanks but being the first in this series it would have been nice to have that information in this book to understand more. It may also be planned in future books to be revealed within the series. I did enjoy it enough to want to continue with the series as well as look at past books by this author so I would definitely still say I recommend it as a good story to read.

After placing second in a challenging orchestra competition, aspiring murder mystery writer Lei and her fellow musicians decide to use their winnings to book a month-long retreat at Walker Hills, a new guest ranch owned and run by Rhett Walker. Nerdy, awkward Lei manages to embarrass herself the moment she sets foot on the ranch, but ruggedly handsome Rhett seems determined to pursue her anyway. Everyone's having a good time until a dare gone bad results in the death of one of Lei's fellow musicians. The local police rule it an accident, but Lei's gut tells her there's more to the story. Could one of her friends - or her new love interest Rhett - actually be a murderer?
For the most part, I enjoyed Lei and Rhett's cute, fun, and steamy relationship, which was a take on the classic awkward/nerdy girl meets hot guy and doesn't believe he could possibly be interested in her. (Her inability to believe that his interest was serious was overemphasized IMO; she brought it up constantly through at least the first half of the book, and it got old fast.) Despite her professed shyness, Lei had no problem talking to Rhett from the start. I enjoyed how sassy she was with him and the way he bantered right back. However, I was hoping for more character development from each of them. For example, by the end of the story, I didn't even know what instrument Lei played in the orchestra, much less whether it was a professional group that paid her or if it was just something she did for fun. As for Rhett, it seemed like the subplot related to his "outside business interests" was completely dropped after Lei confronted him about what she saw the night her friend died. There was absolutely more to that story and I really wanted to know what was going on. Hopefully the author will pick it up again in the next book of the series.
Overall, "Camp Nerd" was an entertaining read, and I'd recommend it for all romantic comedy fans. I plan to continue with the series.

4.5* read. To be honest cowboys aren't really my thing, sorry cowboys. I tend to not read any cowboy romance books as it just doesn't appeal to me for some reason. That been said I do love this author so I knew I had to step out my comfort zone and give it a go. I'm so used to this author's biker characters that I really wasn't sure how id react to this book. I'm glad to say I was plesently surprised to find that I loved it. The main characters are Lei and Rhett. Lei has this massive wall up and is really insecure, which is something I defiantly related to. I instantly connected to her and her nerdiness and that made me invest in the story. From the first chapter when she practically falls into Rhetts arms I knew there was going to be some funny moments. She can't understand or believe why someone like Rhett would be interested in her. The chemistry between these two mixed in with the added suspense made this a perfect read. I can't wait for Enzo's story next.
✨ARC Review ✨ *** Thank you to Valentinepr and Bella Jewel for the ARC to review. *** Y'all, this book is definitely my favorite read so far. I was hooked from the first sentence. Bella Jewel is a phenomenal writer. She had me laughing within seconds of starting the book. I absolutely loved Rhett. He was perfect. He was broody, funny, sexy, and sweet. Lei is my new favorite book character. She reminded me of myself in so many ways. I loved her sass and her quirkiness. The storyline was interesting and had some awesome twists and turns. I was on the edge of my seat for most of the story. Rhett was truly amazing, he said all the perfect things and really stoled my heart. I loved some of the topics Bella tacked in her writing and I was truly able to relate to some of them. The sexy scenes were perfectly written and were realistic. I cannot wait to read Enzo's story!!! *** ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I was provided an ARC, and this is my honest review!
I've never laughed so hard while reading a book before. This book had its entertaining moments along with Bella Jewel's sense of humor added to it. Lei and her orchestra friends go to a retreat, and they meet these gorgeous looking men along with the owner Rhett. Rhett had been mentioned in the Turf War series and it's nice to see him get his story.
At first, I found it annoying for Lei to not have self-confidence, but her interactions with Rhett helped balance that out.
I know in the blurb it mentions a "dead body". I won't say anything. Good twist Miss Jewel!
Hot and steamy meets cozy mystery in this loveable rom-com.
Lei is a normal young woman. And what I mean by normal is that she isn’t the stereotypical female in these type of books. She’s awkward, curvy and accidents seem to happen. The early scene in the barn is hilarious. Her insecurities are understandable. Rhett is an enigma that you fully don’t solve but it makes him even more appealing. Be prepared for some scorching scenes between the two.
Love the heavier steam in this cozy mystery that promises to lead us into a fun series that will keep us entertained.
* I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.
Review: Camp Nerd ( Walker Hills Book 1 ) By: Bella Jewel Stars: 5\5⭐ KU Read
What can I possibly say about this book? Firstly, I'm not new to Bella Jewels books. I've read several of her stories and there all really good. To me Camp Nerd was slightly different compared to her other works but I loved it!. Who doesn't love sexy cowboys with tattoos and that are muscular wright? Its a no brainer. Camp Nerd was a wonderful story. And I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves sweet and funny romances with laugh out loud moments. I can't wait for more of Walker Hills!
4.5⭐️ This was great!! It went in a different direction than I was anticipating and it made the whole story that much better. Lei and her orchestra mates decide on a much needed retreat to a ranch which just starting operating as a resort. The hotties that run the places are not only gorgeous but smart and so sweet. Rhett, the main ranch operator, takes an instant liking to Lei and has his work cute out for him trying to take down her walls. Quite a few steamy scenes and growing feelings between the two for sure. And then there’s a tragedy on the ranch. Only Lei doesn’t think it’s entirely an accident and starts a little investigation. It’s a romance with a murder mystery twist!
I absolutely fell in love with Rhett and Lei. She is awkward, funny and needs a bit more confidence, and did I mention funny? She had me laughing out loud. Rhett was exactly what I was expecting, the hot cowboy with a bit of an attitude, but holy did Lei make him less grouchy and way more alpha. Once I started this read I ignored all responsibilities and finished it. What an amazing read in this new series, I can't wait for more.
This was a fun read, that had laughs along with bits of suspense that were twisted into the story! Lei is quirky, low self esteem and Rhett saw things in her that she didn't see in herself. I enjoyed the ride, the twists and turns kept me turning pages and loved the laughs. This is the start of a new series and I'm ready for more to come.
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This was fun! Yes there is a murder but the story is still fun and highly entertaining 😄 I love Lei and Rhett and the instalust/love thing going on..Don’t judge..I am all for instalove! Anyways, the story kept me interested until the very end and I hope we can get more!
I DNF'd this book because it fell incredibly flat and I couldn't get past how terribly this represented curvy women, insecurity, dating "out of your league", and instalove. I can get behind a good instalove story, but someone with high levels of insecurity needs therapy to take care of herself. It's not going to be overcome simply because a hot guy doesn't let her talk bad about herself. Also, it's 2022 - you can be curvy and not deeply insecure AND date whoever you want. I made it 23% in and just couldn't do it anymore. Also in the right book, porky the short and fat horse named Porky would've been funny (although do we really need to use weight at all to poke fun of something), but when the main character also describes herself in the same way, it just makes me uncomfortable. Like is this in support of curvy women or a parody of curvy women?
I won't be reading any additional books in this series as I rarely DNF and this one left me feeling icky.
ARC kindly provided in exchange for a honest opinion.
It is supposed to be a relaxing vacation to focus on their mental health and to take a break from real life and its problems, but one night changes everything for Lei and the rest of her orchestra friends when one of them is found dead.
I have to be honest I am a litte ambiguous about this book. I really enjoyed reading it and especially after the dead body was found I couldn’t put it down because I really wanted to know if this had something to do with the scary story one of the men told them, or if one of them was actually a murderer. But I had my issues with the characters. I liked Lei, the female protagonist, and her best friend, but I had my issues with Rhett, the male protagonist and love interst of Lei. I had the feeling that a lot of background information was missing and the whole relationship development was a bit too fast form me. Although I had my issues, I really enjoyed their conversations and I liked Leis insecurities and most of all, I liked that her issuses weren’t just poof gone. That was really authentic and I liked that.
The plot was also good written and it was very interesting to read about the whole murder aspect and I was positively surprised with the outcome.
To put it in a nutshell I’m going to give this book 3,5/5 ☆ because there were a few things missing for me but I enjoyed the plot and I’m excited fort he next book.
I received a copy of this book form the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Report

This is the first book in the Walker Hills Series from Bella Jewel. This what I would call a romantic comedy with a side of murder and a whole lot of steam. This is the story of Lei and Rhett. Rhett is running the ranch turned retreat and it is a place that just about anyone in the world would go to. It is a dream come true kind of place to say the least. He also has all his hot friends running this place with him so if your a girl needing a get away adventure of a lifetime then this is the place for you and that is what Lei needs and is loving every second of it until someone turns up murdered. That's just her luck. A hot hot man is interested in her and she can't figure out why because she is a self described nerdy girl but that doesn't phase Rhett in the least. Sparks and funny moments are flying all over the place and you will be swooning and laughing out loud a lot of the time. I thought this was a really good book with just enough of a twist to keep you guessing.
