Three relentless ghost hunters. A trail of death. The walls of Hyde House don’t whisper, they scream. The gang is prepared this time. Emmie and Sarah have trained their psychic skills, Finn is a little wiser, and they’re ready for the worst. But if a looming menace gets its way, they’ll be dead within days.
While exploring Emmie's basement, Finn makes a gruesome discovery hidden behind a wall that shakes them to the core—a woman’s corpse. And it’s obvious she was murdered.
But Alice isn’t talking, and the ghosts of the past elude the gang, until they meet a mourning father who’s daughter suffered the same ghastly fate. But his insight comes with a warning.
“Watch yourself, because they'll be watching you.”
Driven to help the victims and find peace for Alice, they soon realize they’ve stumbled into a deadly game of twisted voodoo, and there’s no turning back.
Frantic to escape the expanding web of deception, they’re forced to face their deepest fears within the quaint stillness of Hyde House.
Hyde House is the third novel in a new Paranormal Mystery series that delivers an unsolved murder, ghostly mysteries, and a twist of horror.
Fans of Wendy Wang, Darcy Coates, Abe Moss, Cheryl Bradshaw, or Heather Graham will love this exciting new supernatural suspense book.
Dean Rasmussen grew up in a small Minnesota town and began writing stories at the age of ten, driven by his fascination with the Star Wars hero's journey. He continued writing short stories and attempted a few novels through his early twenties until he stopped to focus on his computer animation ambitions. He studied English at a Minnesota college during that time.
He learned the art of computer animation and went on to work on twenty feature films, a television show, and a AAA video game as a visual effects artist over thirteen years. He currently teaches animation for visual effects in Orlando, Florida.
Inspired by his favorite authors, Stephen King, Ray Bradbury, Richard Matheson, and H.P. Lovecraft, Dean began writing novels and short stories again in 2018 to thrill and delight a new generation of horror fans.
We finally learn what happened to Alice, the resident ghost of Hanging House. But for this to be her mystery, Alice hardly played a part in this. That was disappointing.
It was still a nice enough read. I'm here for all the other books.
The third book in the Emmie Rose series and I was so happy it was about Alice! What really delighted me though was the subject of voodoo which I find fascinating.
Again I had some issues with the way the 'gang' acted through the investigation. I mostly find this the case with Fynn who I wonder for someone so smart why he does such silly things and doesn't think them through and act immaturely. It was good to see him face some things in this book though and push himself to help others when seriously traumatised. I really hope that there never is any romance between the three. I think their friendship dynamic is perfect really how it is.
The end was perfect and how everything was bought together in Alice's story. I think Hyde House may be my favourite so far. Can't believe I now have to wait till October for the new book, 'Whisper House'. I read this book over 2 sittings and as with the others found it such an easy read. Taking the gruesomeness aside of the actual murders/death these are actually quite tame books, I almost want to say light hearted but mean more so in the actual genre and not for younger readers!! A solid 4 stars.
Once again, I start reading about Emmie, Sarah and Finn expecting a great story and instead, I get a fabulous story. These haunted mysteries always take me in directions I wasn't expecting to go and provide a thoroughly fascinating and spooky read. I really loved this one, as we get to find out more about one of my favorite ghosts and the resolution to their story was very unique and interesting. I highly recommend these books. Each one has not only thrills and chills, but mystery, suspense, drama and heartfelt camaraderie between friends. Worth every minute spent wrapped up in their world. ***I received an ARC of this book from the author. My review is strictly voluntary.***

Oh, if only the walls could talk! Things might have gone a bit easier for the gang when Finn found a body while investigating the cause of Emmie’s electrical problems, but that would have spoiled the fun that is Hyde House, An Emmie Rose Haunted Mystery, Book 3. Yes! You read that right! Finn, Sarah and Emmie are back and this time they’re up to their necks in spirits, voodoo, and quite possibly, a few nefarious individuals! Be they good guys or not so much, the characters in Hyde House are all fantastic, all unique, with fully developed personalities! The plot is AMAZING, delightfully horrifying, fast moving and definitely not lacking in thrills and chills! The narration that brings this story to life is perfect! While I have loved all of the books in this series, I have to say in all honesty, Hyde House is my favorite. This one has my heart! No spoilers. You’ll understand when the credits roll. Five heartfelt stars! I loved it. This one, wow THIS ONE!
In this installment of the Emmie mysteries, we dig deeper into the history of Alice, the terrifying ghost who haunted Emmie in her childhood. Alice was a young girl who died in the 1920'ies and her violent death and current murders are whirled together in an occult mess that stretches over decades. Hyde House is in my opinion Rasmussens best work so far. There is great world-building, and the characters go through so much the plot is on point and every minute is filled with action.
Hyde House is not an important book, much it's funny and gave me goosebumps on more than one occasion.
The ending was bittersweet and I will never listen to O Sole Mio the same way again, but that is what makes a book good for me. When it leaves a mark.
Emmie and Sarah psychic skills have improved and Finn is becoming a little wiser, Finn makes a gruesome discovery hidden behind a wall in Emmie's basement a woman’s corpse. And it’s obvious she was murdered. Which brings them into contact with Voodoo . Both good and evil. All three of them find themselves fighting such evil, while trying to find out who and why young women are being killed, in such horrible fashion.
When find out what happened to Alice . Can our threesome help her.
Brilliant.
“Watch yourself, because they'll be watching you.”
This author writes a very good story and I'm looking forward to the next one. Emmie and Sarah are learning more to increase their psychic abilities and are trying to find out more about Alice and the house. The girls and Finn get involved in a mystery and are learning some things about the voodoo practice. The 3 of them try to help and get involved in many twists and turns. The ending came as a surprise, but it was worth it. Really enjoyed this book and I would recommend it to my friends that enjoy these types of books.
Audiobook: Book 3 in the "An Emmie Rose Haunted Mystery" series was as spine-chilling as the first two books. The story featured ghosts and murders with the added twist of voodoo. I appreciated the growth in control that Emmie and Sarah have gained in their psychic abilities. I liked that Finn has grown through his interactions with Emmie and Sarah. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. Kasi Hollowell's narration was skillful, and her performance enhanced the story's entertainment. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.
This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuously. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Emmie Rose and her friends are back with a new mystery. When Finn finds a corpse in Emmie's basement, they try to find out who she was and why was she in the basement. This was an excellent blend of suspense and thrills that will kept me glued to my seat with my heart pounding until the surprise ending. If you enjoy paranormal mysteries with engaging characters, Hyde House is a must read. I received an advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.
Characters from previous books, Hanging House and Caine House, Emmie, Sarah and Finn continue to meet troubled spirits. They find a dead body in Emmie’s Home ‘Hanging House’. The three friends try to hunt down who this person is/was and in doing so, find the original owners of the house, and there is a twist as they find out what actually occurred in the past. I have enjoyed all the books I have read by this author.
I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
I love this series!!!! Nonstop danger and mystery and a lot of paranormal events….. this series just checks all the boxes for me!!! Emmie, Sarah and Finn are the perfect team and I enjoy going on these investigations with them and seeing their powers grow! Each story is so detailed and I appreciate the hard work the author does to make these stories come to life. Can’t wait for the next book!!!!
Love this series!!Emmie and Sarah are two school friends who came together because of their medium powers.along with journalist pal Finn, they find themselves in another heap of trouble.can their combined powers help them once more?? The thing about these books is even when the book is read, the story remains in ur head for days.
Emmie and Sarah, both psychics with the ability to see ghosts, along with their friend Finn discover a secret in the wall of the home Emmie shares with Sarah. In order to solve the mystery, they dive head first into the world of dark magic.
This is the 3rd book in the Emmie Rose series and I’ve enjoyed all of them. They’re spooky but not scary and always wrap up nicely with a happy ending!
This was fantastic!! Hyde House is the third book in the Emmie Rose series and I think my favorite one yet!! Edge of your seat suspense and so glad to get Alice's story! I definitely did not see that ending coming. Great audio narration!!
Another good complicated ghost story in this series. Very well written. Very well told. I was gifted an Audible version of this book from the author through Story Origin. The narrator, again, does a wonderful job performing these characters.
This book was creepy! Emmie, Sarah and Finn find a long dead body in the wall of Hanging House. The mystery has voodoo at its core. As the trio try find out more, they find themselves in a very difficult situation. Looking forward to the next one!
This was a haunting tale and I just love it as well as each book in the series. Each story is so intriguing and the characters are awesome. I highly recommend this book and the series.
This book was creepy and funny. I loved Finn... I felt a little sad at the end. But the good thing is, book 4 is coming soon. Can't get enough of these spooky stories, good job Dean and thank you.
Received as an audio review copy from Story Origin, this is an honest review. Narrated wonderfully by Kasi Holowell, the mysterious adventure continues as Emmie, Sarah and Finn find themselves confronting dark secrets that begin with harrowing discovery of a body in the basement of Hanging House that's been there a long time. Finding the truth will lead the group back to the very ghost that's been haunting Emmie's entire life: Alice. Whose tragic death was only the end of a harrowing story they need to understand to bring a killer to justice and peace to a bevy of ghosts that has been in pain for quite some time. Gritty, intense and wondrously poignant, Hyde House lives up to the wild expectations that have come from Dean Rasmussen and his series. Highly recommended.
