Author of Paranormal and Fantasy Romance.

Dreaming of becoming a vampire, I mean author, since she was a youngling, P.S. Nail finally fulfilled her prophecy by self-publishing her first paranormal fantasy romance novel, with many more to come.

She enjoys playing guitar to soothe the draw of the moon, video games to help pacify her blood lust, reading romance and smut books, since she never sleeps, and having a fangtastic time with paranormal friends. Once a month, when the full moon calls, she and her coven dance naked around a magical blazing fire . . . but don’t tell her we told you.

We think she currently lives in the United States, or possibly Romania, with her shifter husband, three hybrid sons, and their pet demons. She lovingly calls them her immortal family.

She will continue to quench her thirst for writing until death, dismissal, or dishonor.

FYI: She hates the sun, but loves garlic.

The thing is as a fantasy book I need the fantasy elements to be at the forefront. And they just weren’t. The relationships were the main focus but anything outside of them interacting was so fast paced. I needed a hell of a lot more time spent on the fighting scenes, the villains, the magic powers, hell even the layout of place they lived. I see what this book was trying to do, but it missed the mark for me.

The amount of love I hold for this book right now is unmatched!
Every single character is amazing!
Ember is strong, fierce, sexy, and absolutely kind and loving to those she cares for.
Her story is so beautiful yet so god damn heartbreaking.
Val is hot AF! And he is such a gentleman! He is the one I fell in love with first. Maybe I’m just a sucker for vampires. But he is ultimately book-boyfriend material.
He is so absolutely heart meltingly sweet to Ember.
Cash is such a vibe! He is total golden retriever energy! He always makes the group laugh and is such a flirt. I love it
Zayn is the one guy who you just can’t help but also fall in love with. He is kind hearted, he is the best friend everyone wants. He is extremely caring. And this man loves to Read like omg perfection.
Cali is freaking incredible bi energy was amazing to read. I can’t wait to see more from her story.
Cinder is just the sweetest little thing ever!

But overall this book holds all the elements I’m looking for. We have an amazing plot and premise, very spicy, wholesome moments, action and absolutely unforgettable characters
The fact that most of these guys I mentioned are born with a tattoo to which each represents their people is amazing.
We have:
Fire casters
Air
Water
Angels
Werewolf shifters
Vampires
Amongst many more it’s amazing!
I just couldn’t help to fall in love with this entire book! I can’t wait to read the next!

What a ride! I read this is less than 24 hours! The character arcs were perfection, the relationship between Ember and Val was perfection, Ember was tough and feminine at the same time, Val was honorable and hot, and the storyline had me sucked in! Can't wait to read book two!

I inhaled this book today. I’ll be honest, I was a little nervous at first because the three introductory characters didn’t use contractions in their dialogue (in fact not many of them do), however once the story really began it wasn’t something I continued to notice. It wasn’t a problem and was really just to do with the characters and who they are.

The story definitely drew me in. I went into this knowing very little, in fact I only skimmed the blurb very briefly. It is captivating, funny, spicy, and I did NOT see any of the plot twists coming.

I highly recommend this book and cannot wait for the second one!

Disclaimer: I received this book for free, and I’m giving my honest review in exchange. All thoughts are my own.

4.5, not a flat, even 4. I don’t like giving flat even numbers for ratings because stories are more complex than that and it doesn’t give room to explain anything really. However I am a picky reader.
The first 25-30% starts off a bit slow, which is okay because it gives you time to get to know the characters. But after that initial slow period, it picks up speed QUICKLY, and before you know it you read 24 chapters in less than 2 hours. (May be speaking from experience, oops). I like that the pace picks up the way it does, because a big issue I’ve seen in modern fantasy is that it picks up too quickly most times and that tends to cause me to lose interest. In that same vein, though, too slow makes me lose interest, so it’s balanced really well. Absolutely fell in love with Ember, and her friends are great too. Kinda favor Cash though. Reminds me of an ilyrian character that I adore from ACOTAR (*cough,* his name rhymes with Bassian *cough*)

First off I got the honor of beta testing this book and while it could change slightly before actual publishing I love this book and can't wait for the story to continue.

Gods, mystical creatures, and magic lands fill this book. Nail nails her characters in the Kings Guard in such a way you want to become their friends and it's easy to see how Ember, one of the main characters, so easily becomes friends with these angels, wolves, fae, and vampires.

A beautiful, sexy, love story well written into an intense, save the kingdom plot in which upon picking it up will be hard to put down because you just need more. If you are a lover of paranormal romance I think you should give this a try, become a part of this authors first book so you can fall in love with Ember, her kingdom, her job protecting it, her new friends, and an unexpected man.

Violet Flames is a fantasy romance with lots of adventure and action. It took me on an emotional journey and from the moment I picked it up I only set it down to nap because I was instantly hooked. The world building was good and I enjoyed learning about the characters and seeing them grow as the story evolved. The spice in this book is good and the wait only made it better. Just a heads up: Make sure you have a tissue box handy because you'll need it!
Violet Flames does a great job of setting up the second book in the series and I recommend it to any one looking for an emotional roller coaster that includes angels, vampires, casters, and demons.

I LOVE THIS BOOK. I can't wait to see what happens with the characters. I started with it on KU and ended up buying it and intend to buy the rest of the things this author has written. It has such a cute and fun romance story tied in with some series twists and intrigue. The world is well built and with a new (to me) magical system that's going to be amazing to read it expanded upon! Ember is my favorite character and how she grew as a person through the things she was put through...She really overcame a lot.

Vampires, Fae, Demons with good laughs and romantic spice done well, I can't recommend it more.

I thought I had already written my review for this but seeing as how I hadn’t and I have had time to sit with it this book is even better. It was great when I finished it but it has lingered in my mind since. The characters feel like friends I’ve had for years and I appreciate that so much.

I do think the romance between Val and Ember was a bit rushed but even that does not take away from the story. The spice, the twists, the friends: this story leaves you begging for more and I cannot wait until the next ones release!

I got this book as an arc copy. This is by far my best new book I’ve read in a long time.
It starts a little slow, with worldbuilding and getting to know our main character but boy, it escalates quickly and before you know it you’re amongst angels, werewolf’s, vampires, air casters and fire casters. And it just feels right. The story is really exciting and the romance and the spicy scenes are definitely worth it. Can not recommend this book enough

This book is truly amazing. I loved every aspect of it and even cried throughout some of it. I am [not so patiently] waiting for the release of the second book and see what becomes of these characters and the continuation from the ending of this one. There was so much thought put into all of this and I loved it so much.

I love the book, I love Ember and Cinder. My favorite character would have be Zayn and Cash. No offense to Val. The way that the author does describe each God and had a map of each land just adds bonus points to the book.

Look, I'm either too ace or too queer for this book. It was a turn your brain off romance, and the world/plot feels kindof like an afterthought to the spice, which frustrated me. The romance felt rushed, even with taking up most of the screentime. The dialogue was a bit stilted and formal, and the characters read like 16 year olds rather than folks in their 20s.

I did like the idea of the kingsguard, and the magical tattoos were gorgeously designed. I even like the different types of bonds referenced. The world has an interesting premise with multiple deities, it's just not explored as much as I would like.

The plot was shoved into the back half of the book and not given room to breathe. Like there were multiple points in the second half that would have been great breaking points in the story - but it just kept going with multiple "final battle" missions. Split out over multiple books, with more time to truly establish the world and characters and relationships - I think this would have been a lot better.

Spoilery rant below:

Overall Violet Flames was ok, but ultimately not my cup of tea. I'm not sure if I'll pick up the sequel at this point.

Well, I totally binged that in one day ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ . This book was sooooo good! It’s a bit slow moving at the very beginning, which is actually kind of nice because you get to know the characters and by the time the action does pick up I had some clear favorites.

The story centers around Ember, who is a descendant of the Fire God and is a fire caster. She was born with the Guardian Mark, which is a tattoo that indicates she will join the King’s Guard when she grows up, and the story starts when she is summoned to the castle to begin her training.

The characters in this world are all descended from different gods who gave rise to the different species—vampires, angels, fae, lycans, and the casters (fire, water, etc). Ember has been taught her entire life to hate vampires, and when she arrives at the castle she makes instant friends with everyone there except for Valerian, who is a vampire.

I really enjoyed their enemies to lovers story. Vampires can read minds, and some scenes made me laugh a bit when he read her mind and she was horrified at what he heard. It became sweeter later, and Valerian is a total cinnamon roll type. There’s quite a bit of spice, but I didn’t feel like it overwhelmed the plot.

The friendships between the other characters was also wonderful. It’s a found family kind of vibe, and I loved it.

The only thing I think could have been done a bit better were the times where they were interrogating demons that they had captured. The demons were always too eager to reveal their evil plans with no real effort from the main characters. And the information they gave was always trusted at face value, with no suspicion that they might be lying. It just made the main villains of the story come off as a bit dumb (although there is a Demon King who looks like he may develop into a proper villain in later books).

I’m totally going to read the rest of the series as it comes out. Highly recommend.

Oof the short amount of time I wasted reading up to chapter 14 was extremely painful. 😖 Seriously how could anyone give this 5 stars? Another conspiracy I tell you. Because this should not be rated the same as other literature masterpieces. That’s soooooo wrong! 😑

Our main FC is an emotional angry brat who thinks everything she sees is beautiful. Seriously, up to where I DNf at Ch. 14, she has used “beautiful” to describe anything around her around 100 times, maybe more. From floors, to flowers, to eyes, to men, to hair, to clothes, EVERYTHING. That’s the only descriptive word she has in her vocabulary.

The narrator also likes to insert random internal monologues in italic, but only sometimes not all the time. That’s the only way I can describe it.

Our girl FC blew up at an angel because he helped her feel better. You see, she has red hair, so she’s very very angry and keen to emotional outbursts at random times. That’s the stereotype our author here likes to use. And she would be having a normal conversation then suddenly blow up at something so small, and yet everyone and their cousin loved and adored her. She’s so cute. She’s so small. She’s so tiny. She’s so innocent. 😇 and our MC can think of better ways she can use that mouth of hers, amirite 😏

Speaking of our MC, he’s written as your stereotypical “guy who thinks he’s so tough so he crosses his muscley arms to stare you down” type. But really it comes off as a 16 year old boy trying to convince his parents he’s a man. 🧍‍♂️ He loves to whisk our angry FC away to fields of lavenders or whatever so she can call them beautiful because his eyes are lavender and so beautiful 🤩 So romantic.

I didn’t even get to the sex scenes and honestly I don’t think I want to cringe anymore than I have at this writing.

Some people are just not great at doing the things they love. And that’s ok! 👍 just don’t try to scam people out of there money!

💥Overall opinion:
For being the first book in an adult fantasy romance, I enjoyed the world and character building. This author has created an amazing storyline with an equally great plot. It was a little slow in the beginning, but that's to be expected when you're creating a whole new world.

⚡️POV:
Dual - Male MC and Female MC

📖Overall pace of the story:
It started of a little slow but once it picked up spend, it was excellent balance between fast and slow. The author knew which chapters needed which pace.

💋Tropes:
Forbidden
Enemies to Lovers
Forced Proximity
Soul Mates
Strong Female Heroine
Secret Relationship
Alpha Male
Touch Her and Die
Found Family

💣Main Character Rating:
Valarian - 4.5⭐️: When I tell you this character had it all, I mean exactly that. Dominant, protective, brave, misunderstood villain, broody, swoonworthy and everything in between.

Ember - 4.5⭐️: From start to finish, she was a badass and the growth of her character was written beautifully. She was assertive, brave, forgiving, stong-minded and matched the male MC's energy excellently.

💧Sadness level:
0/5

🌶Spice level:
2/5

📚Descriptive spice scenes:
Yes, multiple times and on page.

🖤Om/Ow drama:
No

💀Triggers:
None that I can recall

🚫Closure:
This book was a little slow in the beginning (which is to be expected in fantasy due to world and character building) but I was instantly drawn in. It has everything I love in a good fantasy romance. Demons, angels, magic casters, vampires, lycans, fae, and so many other mythical creatures. I'm counting down the days for book two and can't wait to see where this incredible story goes.

⭐️Overall Rating:
5 beautiful freaking stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Do you ever read a book that was recommended to you and not really know what to expect but then you get completely blown away by it?!

That was me with Violet Flames. A good friend recommended this book to me and I went in not really knowing much about the story or if I was going to like it and it’s now my new favorite book!

Book recs for the WIN!

Violet Flames by P.S. Nail is the first book in the Primordial Gods series and is a Fantasy/Paranormal Romance.

I absolutely loved everything about it:
💙Characters
💙Friendships
💙Camaraderie
💙Action
💙Love story
💙storyline
& more!

It has:
💜Enemies to Lovers
💜Found Family
💜Touch Her & D!3
💜Forbidden Romance
💜Close Proximity
💜Slow Burn
💜Witty Banter
💜Vampires, Fire Casters, Gods, Angels, Lycans, Demons, & more!

P.S. Nail outdid herself with this novel. It’s impeccable! The writing is so descriptive, flowy & easy to read. It definitely plays out like a movie in your head. It’s not a short book by any means, but I honestly wish it just kept going and going.

I fell in love with each and every character which not only is rare for me, but then it just brings you even closer and more involved/absorbed with the story.

I just can’t stop thinking about this book and cannot wait to read Emerald Skies (book 2).

If you like fantasy/paranormal romance with action, so many unexpected twists and turns, great love story, and friends that turn into family…then this is the book for you!

This book... where to start.

3.5⭐ rounded up

I do want to say first and foremost that I did enjoy this book and would absolutely recommend however I just don't think this was the book for me.

The main plot was based heavily on the MC's relationship and less on the fantasy elements. It felt more like the fantasy plot points were just added in as an afterthought.

I am not a massive fan of romance books so found portions of the book cringe, awkward or just unbelievably dumb. In a few scenes where the MC is supposed to be in a battle against demons they take a paragraph to kiss and tell each other how in love they are... how do you have time for that right now?!

The emotional stuff happening to the MC also seems to never have any impact on her libido. Weird.

The writing was unflowful - 'has not' instead of hasn't, 'it is' instead of it's, etc. - which made me slightly less connected to the book and the characters since people just don't speak like that. The language used wasn't formal or eloquent from the characters and so the broken wording felt out of place.

I think I came into the book expecting more action and the subplot to be the romance so was a little disappointed but if you're into that this is definitely a book for you.

I cannot say enough good things about this book. It was so good that I broke my almost year long book buying ban to get the sequel. I will be thinking of nothing else until the second book comes in the mail on Wednesday. Once I finish that I will be thinking of nothing else until the third book releases. I had the amazing experience of messaging with the author while I was reading and that added a whole other wonderful layer to the reading process. If you are looking for found family, action, spice, and romance then look no further. This fantasy novel doesn’t make you choose between reading about angels, demons, vampires, lycans, gods, or magic, you get them ALL! This is not one of those romance/spicy books that has no plot. There is so much character growth, travel, action, it’s got it all. If you are looking for a new fantasy series to fall in love with, I highly recommend this one.

WOW! Where to even begin. This book was phenomenal! I love all the characters in this book. I am super excited to read more about all of them in book 2. PS Nail will immerse you into this world for sure. She did amazing describing everything so that you had a clear picture of the world and characters.
The way that Val and Ember would flirt in the beginning was too cute. I think my favorite part of it was when she would have certain thoughts and then Val would quickly say “Shield!” Lol. The angst from these two was pantie melting. That wood chopping scene… why couldn’t I be those girls. Lol. Oh and them spicy scenes, GIRL, don't even get me started on that. Chefs kiss!
There is drama, action, spiciness, adventure and more. I loved reading this book so much. It has everything your little fantasy paranormal romance heart loves.

2.5 🌶

I enjoyed the book it was a pretty easy read in terms of not being super complex but how some of the world building was introduced or character powers were introduced did not always make sense. I honestly had so many questions about the FMCS fire skills and wanted to know more details about where it came from, how it came to be and what she can do with it.

Some parts were slower in the beginning which can happen in any fantasy setting so I get it but some things didn’t really seem necessary to the character development or love story that it felt like it dragged at times.

The cinnamon roll MMC was nice change of pace with normal vampire romance stories.

Overall it was good and I’m interested to keep reading more.

Author has a great list of CW on her website.
