Once upon a time, my parents saved the world. But it's still broken, and I'm supposed to fix it.
Everything had been going perfectly until the dragons showed up. They need me, the Healer of Realms, to save their land. A land of prophecies, beautiful princes, and ancient monsters.
I don't need a seer to know this quest is larger than anything I’ve known. Between the nightmares, monster attacks, and a prince I can’t seem to stop kissing, only fate knows if I’ll lose my heart or my life to a kingdom that isn’t even mine.
Too bad I didn’t realize long ago, destiny is a sneaky b*tch.

The author warned us that this book is the hottest of all of the books in the Onyx Series & she was absolutely right. As one character put it, "Kinky. He's got silent by lethal vibes." And I loved every minute of it.
This book picks up with generation 2, but is definitely a continuation of the events from the first 3 books. You should read the first 3 books before this one, not only will it help you understand the rest of the story, but they are really good!
In an attempt to keep out possible spoilers for the first 3 books I am going to be a bit vague in this review, seriously go read this whole series! I love Des as a character, she is unashamed of who she is & what makes her tick & I cannot wait to see where she grows to in the next book. This book brings in a whole new baddie, and again I cannot wait to see where this goes. Not gonna lie, that ending left me a bit broken, but knowing how this author works I have faith that it will all come together. Now to tuck in and wait for book 5.
Ms. Florence has done it again. 5 wholehearted stars. I absolutely loved the Onyx Trilogy and equally love how The Tragedy of Jade continues in the same world with Princess Desildri “Des” taking the front seat. Twists, turns and everything you need in an amazing fantasy series. I will eagerly await the next installment!
Highly recommend grabbing this when it releases! (2/22/22)
Steamy ✅ Fae fantasy ✅ Action ✅ Intense need for more…✅✅✅
Dragons, fae, spice, and action are what you’ll find in The Tragedy of Jade. Overall I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to those who enjoy fantasy/romance. I could have used a little bit more world building and relationship building, but that is totally personal preference! I will definitely be looking forward to reading the next book in this series!
So, this book takes place 27 years after the previous trilogy. Their daughter Desildri is 27 and she has a few younger siblings. Because of the magic she inherited from the Heart Tree, she is called the Healer of Realms. She has amazing healing abilities, which is why the dragons come to ask for her help to heal their dying people. Des travels to their lands with her brother and handmaiden and begins trying to heal their lands, but instead causes monsters to come and make it worse. So, she’s trying to heal it and also solve a mystery as to who is destroying their lands too, and trying not to be distracted by the handsome dragon princes.
This is a pretty great start to this new series in the same world. I loved learning more about another part of this world, especially about the dragons! I mean who doesn’t love reading about dragons?! Desildri wasn’t my favorite, but she really tried hard to be the Healer of Realms, and so when things did not go her way, I felt bad for the poor girl! At first, I was unsure about the romance. The way Des treated it confused me. She seemed to be unsure for herself who she wanted, and that frustrates me when a character goes back and forth like that. However, the ending really made up for that confusion, as well as really helped the whole story since it kind of dragged until the end and the end made it very interesting! Especially trying to figure out the mystery of whodunnit.
I recommend this if you love Fae, dragons, and steamy romance 🔥 3.5/5 ⭐️ read for me. Thank you to PaperMyths and Jessica Florence for the free digital copy to read 🥰
“We choose how we come back from the fall." After a long day, I decided to curl up with Tragedy of Jade around 8pm to help me unwind. Big mistake. Seven hours later, I flipped to the last page with tears in my eyes. It's been years since I stayed up half the night because I couldn't put down a book but here I am. Bleary eyed and exhausted with no regrets. I've been a big fan of Florence for years now but there was something about this story that put it above everything else. The storytelling was impeccable and completely enthralling. I was drawn into Des's world and needed to know more about the dragons and their secrets. And that ending... dear God I need the next book asap.
”Every hero has a journey where they must fall to rise as the person they were always meant to be.”
Oooh this series is getting good. This series is really comprised of two trilogies, with the events in this book taking place 27 years after Destiny in Sapphire. The first 3 books in the series is a trilogy telling Sapphira’s story. The next three book is a generational trilogy that tells the story of Sapphira’s daughter, Desildri.
Our FMC, Desildri is quite the badass. She has two “powers” in her and the tree magic which was told in the last book. Not only is she a powerful fae (and dragon shifter) she’s also been training with her parents and other warriors at home. So yeah, she’s a badass.
This book definitely has more “steam” than the first three, but it doesn’t overpower the storyline. Of course the MMC, Valor is a pretty sexay alpha type. But then what dragon shifter isn’t a hot hunk? There was a bit of a push/pull between our main couple, but I thought it was well done. At least I didn’t want to eat my head over it, like I usually do with that trope. There is an evil villain looking to steal Desildri’s power, and a big betrayal that I kinda sorta saw coming. The book ends on a cliffhanger, and yes, I absolutely intend on continuing with the series. While you really could pick up the series with the second trilogy and not be completely lost, it’s definitely better to start with Book #1.
OMG was this book so good! I knew it would be good but MAN it definitely surpassed that level! It was definitely a page Turner and when it was nearing the end I DID NOT want it to end. Seeing the old crew and meeting the new crew wow. The next generation is I don’t want to say better then their parents but fine I’ll say it they are! I have to say I LOVE all things Dragons! The fact that this book was primarily located in the Dragon realm made my heart so happy. The main Heroine Desildri reminded me so much of her mom Sapphire and so much of her dad Rune she is a perfect combination of both parents. Fearless, always wanting to help and has an open mind. This book was similar to the first 3 books as it included another Prophecy. This prophecy tho had so many moving pieces to try and decipher. Both Seers couldn’t give much but gave enough. At one point I thought Des’ mate was not who I wanted it to be. Well you will just have to read to figure out who it ended up being. I can keep going but I won’t you have to read the awesomeness that is this book. Seriously go read it! Jessica F keeps you wanting more. I can’t wait until book 5 of the series but book 2 of this storyline. Come on July!
Even though you Don't necessarily have to read the books before this one, I'm going to because I would Love to see the story of Des's parents. Also, the story of what led up to this one will give a deeper dive into the characters.
I really liked this storyline. It wasn't an edge of your seat but definitely had me engaged & wanting to know more. Which is good for me because I don't like being anxious lol. At the end all I could think was Wow, I can't wait for the next book.
And if I'm being honest, I think I'll always be Amazed by the Author's Extraordinary imagination and how lovely it all comes together to make a wonderful story.
I give this Book 5 stars & I definitely recommend reading or listening to it.
Oh my goodness! The adventures of the fae continue in this intense and exciting new spin-off series from the Onyx Trilogy! While you get glimpses of the original characters, this focus of this magnificent book is Desildri, the eldest daughter of Rune and Sapphira. And let me tell you, that this book had some fantastic twists and turns that I did NOT see coming!
It was so wonderful to be able to return to the fae world I fell in love with in the original series, but it was also different because the focus wasn't on the original crew! However there was the added element of learning more about the dragons and where they came from! The new characters that were introduced are also incredibly intriguing and there is a whole new "big bad" in this spin off series that definitely raises the stakes! I truly enjoyed this adventure and cannot wait for more of Des's story!
Jessica has once again made me fall in love with characters then broken my entire heart by smashing it with a hammer. She is ruthless but j keep coming back for more.
I loved this book! JELLYFISH FAE! DRAGON SHIFTERS! SPICE 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥! HUMOR! EXCELLENT WORLD BUILDING! Going back to Crysia and seeing all of Rune and Sapphira’s family wgrown up and see their personalities was a trip! Desildri is the oldest daughter of Rune and Sapphira and is walking out her destiny as the healer of realms meeting with people as an ambassador and helping where she can. Throughout her whole life she’s been having mysterious dreams that torment and tease her, and those dreams always seem to be at the back of her mind, with her wondering what the explanation is. Her Kingdom is visited by the Dragon Princes Zarden and Valor to request Crysia’s help in vanquishing a mutual threat. So Desildri and a crew are sent back with them to investigate and try to take out the big bad. This book has some twists and turns! I love getting to see how the dragon shifters live and get to know Des and her crew better. There’s some question of whom she will be with and how it will play out, and there is HEAT- this is definitely Jessica’s hottest book yet. If you like spicy, sexy, shifter fantasy, then you will love this. I can’t wait for the next book to see what happens next!
