Lemon Drop Cottage

Rate this book
Welcome to Pepper Bay. A small close-knit community where you’ll find chocolate box cottages, quaint shops, love, drama, and a happily ever after.

Snuggle down with this cosy, feel-good, comfort read that whisks you away to a beautiful bay on the Isle of Wight – Perfect for fans of Christie Barlow, Phillipa Ashley, and Holly Martin.

The Pepper Bay books are standalone stories that intertwine with recurring characters.

Lemon Drop Cottage: At first glance, Scott Harper is a shy artist who keeps himself to himself, but he isn’t the man everyone thinks he is. Scott has a secret. One that has kept him firmly away from any chance of having an intimate relationship. The only woman in his life is the one he talks to online but has never met. It’s easier that way, for them both.

Dolly Lynch has just taken over her aunt’s shop in Pepper Bay. Between looking after her teenage son, running around for her old aunt, moving home, and opening a new shop, she barely has time to herself, so she really appreciates the moments she spends talking online with a man she’s never met. Little does she know he’s the same man who lives just up the road in the cutest cottage she has ever seen.

The Pepper Bay series is a charming contemporary romance series, and Lemon Drop Cottage is a great addition to it. Scott and Dolly are well-developed and interesting characters, and I was really intrigued by Dolly when she was mentioned in previous books. She kept to herself and seemed quite reserved, and I wanted to know more about her, what brought her to Pepper Bay, and what made her keep people at a distance.

Scott is great too. He is so kind and thoughtful, and he knows how to take charge in tough situations. He fits right in with the other people of Pepper Bay and is as hunky as the other heroes. However, he has some secrets that prevent him from getting too close to anyone. He and Dolly have an unusual connection, and it’s interesting to see how they handle some of the secrets and surprise revelations.

Scott and Dolly have amazing chemistry, and they have so many wonderful moments together. I love their teasing and banter and how happy they make each other. They are both lonely people, and to see them find a sense of belonging with each other is lovely. From their first meeting, you can tell there’s a spark between them.

Pepper Bay has the small-town charm that I adore in romance novels, and Lemon Drop Cottage sounds so quaint. Of course, the characters introduced in previous books in the series all have roles in this book as well, and one character has a delightful surprise that brings everyone together. I like that all of these characters are united in their love of Pepper Bay and that they have forged these life-long relationships. It just adds to the charming and heartwarming feel to the story.

Special thanks to the author and Rachel’s Random Resources for providing me with a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.

I would firstly just like to say a big thank you to Rachel’s Random Resources who very kindly forwarded me an arc copy of this book, for my Kindle, in return for my honest review.

Lemon Drop Cottage is book number four from the Pepper Bay series and what a beautiful title for a book, it really makes me smile!! It can, of course, also be read as a stand alone with no problems, the stories do however, intertwine with recurring characters from all the other books!
Pepper Bay is a beautiful Bay on the Isle Of Wight and is the perfect setting for this story and makes for wonderful armchair travel!
The characters were all very well written and i loved the vibes from the community spirit.
It was a heartwarming, feel good, comfort read that leaves you with that warm and fuzzy feeling…..

What a fun read is contemporary romance
Definitely worth giving much more than a chance!
In Pepper Bay there lives a single Mum and Superman -
Fate bringing them together, is that the plan?

The villagers' nickname for Scott Harper is Clark Kent.
He's quiet, reticent and a seemingly shy gent.
He has an online friend with whom he chats
But other than his immediate family, that's that.

Dolly Lynch has taken her aunt's shop on,
Running it and looking after Dexter, her teenage son.
She has an online friend with whom she chats
But other than Dexter, for her that's that.

The two don't know their online friend's real name
Nor what they look like or live, it's a supportive game.
They both know little about the other's real life
Just chatting together, without any strife.

Get ready for fun after an apple core is thrown,
An ankle is injured and a ladder makes him groan.
After such an inauspicious beginning, it must be fate
But will these two get together before it's too late?

With secrets and surprises, someone getting wet,
This is a fun addition to the series, perhaps the best yet?
A story of developing trust, family drama and friends
With growing romance and love on which to depend.

I thoroughly enjoyed this contemporary rom-com and so
I highly recommend you give it a go.
For my complementary copy, I say thank you,
It's a fantastic, fun read and this is my honest review.

It's lovely to be back in Pepper Bay, this time for Scott and Dolly's story. This is the fourth book in the series and can be read as standalone, however, many characters from the previous books are mentioned. As soon as I knew K T Dady had another book coming out I knew I had to read it.

I really the the way the author writes the book from a 2 person POV, I feel it adds to the enjoyment. I like the author's writing style and how she develops her characters and Scott and Dolly are no different. The setting is lovely and the community spirit she creates just adds to it.

This was a wonderful, light hearted read with laughter, drama and romance and it's one I would definitely recommend.

It was lovely to find myself back on Pepper Lane, looking forward to catching up with fictional friends from the earlier book. Lemon Drop Cottage offered only a small dose of opportunity for visiting as I was quickly introduced to the backstories of Scott Harper and Dolly Lynch. Of course, I met them in passing previously, but they had a gorgeous story of their own to share.
Scott had only been referenced previously as he worked in the bookshop that Anna owns. Now on honeymoon, Scott is taking care of her business whilst coming to terms with a career change that he’s not completely reconciled with. There is a running theme which illustrates his indecision in that regard. He is, however, grateful for Lady Light, the virtual friend that he’s discovered, and he spends his spare time messaging her.
Dolly has inherited her aunt’s shop and has moved to Pepper Bay in the hope of finding a new start for her and her son after the tragic death of her husband. She would welcome a little romance in her life, but she will only open herself up to someone who can be completely honest with her. She has enough to keep her happy as she shares messages with her online friend.
It doesn’t take long to figure out the identities of the virtual friends, but that doesn’t make for a happy ever after. There’s added intrigue surrounding the fate of the retirement home where Dolly’s aunt resides and, of course, news of Anna’s baby.
I immediately took to both Dolly and Scott, it was frustrating that Scott made some poor decisions, but it was fun to see how he would recover from his mistakes. Despite his secret past, he was a genuinely kind and caring soul. The romance was gentle and incredibly lovely.
Don’t worry if you’ve not read any of the previous books, they can all be enjoyed as standalone stories and you can always go back and read them later.

I have been a fan of K. T. Dady’s work for a little while now. I especially love her ‘Pepper Bay’ series. ‘Lemon Drop Cottage’ is the fourth book in the series and what a book it is too. I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘Lemon Drop Cottage’ but more about that in a bit.
It didn’t take me long at all to get into ‘Lemon Drop Cottage’. The fact that I saw K. T. Dady’s name on a book that I hadn’t yet read was enough to grab my attention. The cover of the book was so bright and eye catching that I couldn’t help but be enticed into the story. As soon as I started to read the story itself, that was it. I knew that I would become addicted to the story and that I wouldn’t be able to put the book down. I was right on both counts. My Kindle wasn’t exactly glued to my hand but it might as well have been because it travelled everywhere with me. I couldn’t bear to miss a single second of the story. I loved both of the main characters and I had to know how the story panned out for them and if they both got the ‘happy ever after’ ending that they both so deserved. I became so wrapped up in the story that I lost all track of time and just how quickly I was getting through the story. All too quickly I reached the end of ‘Lemon Drop Cottage’ and I had to say goodbye to the residents of Pepper Bay. I found ‘Lemon Drop Cottage’ to be a charming and delightful read.
‘Lemon Drop Cottage’ is superbly written but then I have come to expect nothing less from K. T. Dady. The author has one of those writing styles that is easy to get used to and easy to get along with. In fact reading one of K. T. Dady’s books feels more like a chat between friends rather than reading an actual book. I Hope that makes sense. K. T. Dady clearly cares about her characters and this shines through in the very vivid and realistic way in which she describes them. She really does make them come alive and they seem just as real as you and I. This was one of those books that really did make me smile and certainly made me smile. I love the way in which the author makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story and at the heart of the action.
In short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘Lemon Drop Cottage’ and I would definitely recommend this book to other readers. I will certainly be reading more from this author in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.

I adore this series and am delighted to be joining the tour for the fourth instalments in the Pepper Bay series – Lemon Drop Cottage. This is a linked series and can be read as a stand-alone or out of order however, to follow the character development chronologically, I’d recommend reading in order. To be honest – you’re going to ant to read them all anyway.
I love the community and setting of Pepper Bay. It’s so quaint and friendly and full of gorgeous people and places. It sounds adorable and completely the sort of place I would love to live and work.
One of the things that makes this series so enjoyable is that you get the story from the male and female protagonist’s perspective. I love reading the narrative in this way and it’s a really clever way to build the story.
In book 4, Scott and Dolly are both focussing on their jobs. Scott is struggling with a career change and Dolly is trying to make a new start for herself and her son in Pepper Bay. Both find solace within an online chat with someone unknown and slowly begin to put their fears and secrets behind them. I loved Dolly and Scott and really enjoyed their journey to finding what they needed.
Lemon Drop Cottage is a sweet read about relationships and finding your place within a community. This whole series is just delightful and I highly recommend.

The community in Pepper Pot Bay continues to grow apace and I loved the latest in this series which revolved around Scott and Dolly. They definitely weren't run of the mill characters and I was most attracted by the great sense of humour which I felt ran throughout the story. Both Scott and Dolly have a past. Dolly is trying to build a new life for herself and her son as a single parent. Scott's past is more surprising and can't be divulged! Pepper Pot Bay offers a refuge and a healing community, full of friendship and families.

Dolly's son, Dexter, is sure to make you laugh. He is a reflection of how she has brought him off and a kind and caring boy. Being kind and generous towards others runs through the story and there is a definite respect between the generations as the retirement home comes under threat. Although you can read this as a standalone, don't miss out on the three previous books. They will fill in all sorts of gaps about the characters you meet and add to your enjoyment of a lovely series.

In short: Secret identities and new starts
Thanks to the publisher for a copy of the book

Thank you so much K.T.Dady and Rachel’s random resources for gifting me a digital copy of lemon drop cottage in exchange for an honest review. I was so excited to jump back into the pepper bay series and as much as I loved all the previous books this is my favourite by far. Dolly is a wonder with a tragic back story filled with sorrow but a heart full of adventure and love. I want to be like Dolly when I grow up and Dexter her son is pure joy (I would love a book based upon him when he is older). It took me longer to warm up to Scott but by the end I loved him and the dynamic between him and Dolly, I also enjoyed that the main characters are in their 40’s it’s not a common age bracket but it makes sense to have people who have lived and loved and open to explore new relationships at this stage of their lives. Thanks K.T.Dady I really loved this one.

This is the first book by K. T. Dady that I have read and, therefore, my first visit to Pepper Bay. As each book in the series is standalone, this didn’t spoil my understanding of the story - though I would happily go back and read the others in the series, too.

I enjoyed meeting Scott and Dolly and spending time in this close, friendly community as their feelings developed. Dolly’s son, Dexter, is a great character who shone through; it was nice to see a teenage boy represented in a positive, caring way. There is an interesting sub-plot with the local retirement home being under threat and a good cast of secondary characters – I liked Giles, who has a close link to Scott and his secretive past. Having visited the Isle of Wight, I enjoyed the setting. And I loved the sound of Lemon Drop cottage – a sunny cottage for a sunny read!

Overall, this is a warm-hearted novel full of kind, caring characters who will make you smile.

Being an Islander and a true caulkhead, I automatically get transported home when I read a book from the Pepper Bay series.

Each book is a standalone, but all link together with the familiar characters popping up throughout the series.

You get a fantastic sense of community spirit, which is what life is genuinely like on the Island, the scenery there is beautiful and Dady describes it all so well.

I love Dady's writing style, she knows how to write a book that will captivate you from the first page to it's last.

I'm looking forward to my next armchair trip home to the Island already.

Many thanks to Rachel's Random Resources for my tour spot.

Oh how I loved being back in Pepper Bay! It seems like such a picture perfect place to live with the nicest community and lovely people. The characters in these books are just brilliant!

I was smiling A LOT and even laughing out loud numerous times when reading this story. There is also some drama and some emotional moments... so basically the full package!

Dolly is just so clumsy! I really took to Dolly immediately and could relate to her as a helicopter mom and the special bond she has with her teenager that she has been raising alone for the last 10 years. Her teenager, Dexter is a special boy! He has a HUGE heart and I just love the way he responded to various situations.

In previous books when we had briefly encountered Scott I had had my doubts about reading his story, but I ended up loving him!

This book was another lovely story in this series and I can't wait to read the next one!

Great being back in Pepper Bay, this time it's about Dolly and her son Dexter who runs a candle shop. Meets Scott who used to be a government agent who lives at Lemon Tree Cottage, fab story 😀

Happy to be revisiting Pepper Bay and finding out Scott’s story! Dolly has taken over her Aunt’s haberdashery shop, she has a 15 year old son Dexter who she is fiercely protective of and she’s very clumsy. Scott is a Clark Kent lookalike and ex-army who has come home to stay in Lemon Drop Cottage. When Dolly and Scott meet at first they are not sure of each other but as the story unfolds they are a match made in heaven. Loved the drama and tension running throughout the story and previous characters popping up, a beautiful book.

This is my third visit to Pepper Bay and boy what a great return it was too. I utterly enjoyed every single page. Every book in this series works superbly well as a stand alone as each main character becomes the main focus in their own right but are still in the other books with more of a background story. It’s a great concept that gives you a lovely insight into everyone’s life, relationships, work and family.

Lemon Drop Cottage is a really comforting read, pure escapism at it’s very best. I smiled throughout and it certainly gave me a few hours of just feeling warm and fuzzy. A fabulous book and I can not wait for the next installment. The people of Pepper Bay are fast becoming some of my favourite characters. I’m sure I said after my other reviews, Pepper Pot farm and Honey Bee Cottage, that I just wanted to move there and guess what? I still do.

Dolly is my kind of woman. I loved her immensely. She’s accident prone, doubts herself often but feels a strong attraction to Simon and feels guilty because of her online “relationship/friendship” with a man she loves chatting to and perhaps it will lead to a relationship. What about Simon? Will she ever come to the realisation that they are one and the same, (not a spoiler, it’s in the blurb) I loved this blossoming romance and just wanted Simon and Dolly to get into a good old smooch and be with each other.

I would tell anyone to give this fab piece of escapism a go, it’s brilliant. You will laugh, cry, feel part of this incredible community. I’m off to pack my bags and move to Pepper Bay.

Lemon Drop Cottage is the fourth book in the Pepper Bay series. Here is were I have to admit that this is my first time visiting Pepper Bay! Yes, I know, it is a travesty! One I shall most definitely be putting right at some point this year. Although I will say that this book is no problem to be read alone.

I loved getting to know Scott and Dolly. Two people who are both making their career their main focus. Dolly is making a fresh start with her son in Pepper Bay, while Scott is trying to get to grips with his career change. They are both finding comfort with chatting online with a stranger. We see their journey as they slowly begin to overcome their fears and put everything in the past.

The story is told from both characters views, which I always enjoy. I prefer to get to know the characters fully and KT Dady has written Lemon Drop Cottage so I had that chance.

To be honest by the time I got to the end of this book I had fell, hook, line and sinker for Pepper Bay and the community in it. The sense of place is fantastic! I pictured a quaint and cosy place with people who always stop to chat and everybody knows everybody...well unless you are Dolly and Scott that is.
I was whisked away to Pepper Bay and I loved every minute of it, I didn't want to put it down and other the other hand I didn't want it to end. What can I say? Apart from, oh well, on to the preceding books.
A delightful and immersive read, that ai highly recommend.

📚I simply adore this romantic, easy to read series by KT Dady. Although this is the 4th in the series, it still works as a standalone. I am delighted to have read these in order; it makes it more charming, in my opinion. It always feels like I am returning to see old friends whenever I read a new instalment!

📚KT Dady has a fantastic way of creating relatable, likeable, everyday characters that appeal to most readers and fans of this genre. She makes sure each book is individual yet still linked by community spirit, making these most enjoyable to read.

📚The plot flows well as always. In this book, the focus is on Scott Harper and Dolly Lynch and their complexities, individually and as a possible future couple who are unaware they have met online but never in the “real” world. These characters take the reader on a highly emotionally charged journey without being heavy.

📚Another highly recommended read that I can not praise enough. I will certainly be picking up the next in the series. Why not treat yourself and grab yourself a copy of this heartwarming, feel-good read that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face!

Lemon Drop Cottage is part four of a six part projected series that is set around the quaint Pepper Bay. This is my first read in the series and can be quite easily read as a stand-alone. A very light and easy book.

The two main characters in Scott and Dolly are written very well in their own respects before the two ever meet.
I like the shyness that comes across from Scott, the home bird.

Where as Dolly is mum of Dexter and hadn’t got much choice in the fact of going to a new place and running a shop on her Aunt’s behalf. She seemed more outgoing, maybe more sure of herself.

They do say opposites attract!

I feel to get the true Pepper Bay experience it would be beneficial to have read the first three books. This would absolutely make for ease of reading and garnering any cross references which I love.

The latest from.Pepper Bay, Isle of Wight. This book centers on Scott, recently retired from the military, he's come home to decide what to do. In the meantime he helps out where he can, helping Anna in her shop and painting whenever he can.

Dolly has just opened her new shop, having recently moved to the Bay with her teenage Son and taking the shop over from her Aunt who has gone into a home.

The book is about learning to trust and love again after heartbreak. Scott has a secret which may stop him from staying in the Bay, will he be able to trust Dolly with it?

This is a lovely series, all standalone books featuring people who live in Pepper Bay. Although they're all standalone books, they are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and series.

As always, another great story in the series.
Dolly and Scott’s story was full of drama, twists and so many laughs.
Some original characters continue their story which is great, and we’re introduced to some new ones too which set up the next book in the series which I’ll be diving into straight away!

When life throws you a Lemon Drop Cottage…
Dolly Lynch is a busy woman, she has just taken over her aunt’s shop in Pepper Bay, has also just moved, keeps an eye on her aunt, and takes care of her teenage son Dexter.
She barely has time for anything else, but the only thing she does, is talking through the internet with a certain C.K…
When she meets Scott Harper, it is anything but a nice meeting. She literally threw the remains of her apple at him, so it’s not a great first encounter.
Despite her intentions of making amends, things just keep going not how she expected…
And Scott finds himself more tangled around Dolly than he thought or wished… His desire to keep to himself is out of the window since his move to Lemon Drop Cottage. While everyone in Pepper Bay appreciates him for his kindness and also his artistic ways, he has a secret that no one can ever know about. And it’s that secret that kept him away from any kind of an intimate relationship… With the exception of his online contact, with a certain L.L who may be living closer than he thinks and maybe even got to know, after a certain apple – incident?
Pepper Bay is a place that I happily return to, with great joy!
This little community just ticks all the boxes of places I would love to live myself. So obviously I was very eager to read this next chapter.
Each book can be perfectly read as a standalone, the pop – ups of previous main characters won’t make it difficult to catch up.
I truly liked to get Dolly better, because we didn’t know that much about her. I found her courageous, strong independent, and kind. But also hilariously clumsy, lovingly overprotective and rightfully a bit suspicious when needed.
She didn’t have it easy in her past, and looking after Dexter, making her shop work, shows us also that she knows where her priorities lay.
Everything she does, is always with Dexter’s best interest in mind, she doesn’t make hasted decisions without asking for Dexter’s input.
And while things may start awkward with Scott, she finally realizes that sometimes, she has to follow her heart.

Even with his secret, I absolutely loved Scott! I wish I could be ‘victim’ of how he changes from Clark Kent to  Superman!
And despite him initially more clashing with Dolly than anything else, he doesn’t hesitate to help her out with her new shop.
And the way he behaves towards Dexter, made my heart totally melt! And his gnomes? I never thought that something so odd could turn into something hot!
It's always the silent types that are the best!
I have mentioned Dexter already a few times, but that boy cannot not have his own mention! Yes, he may not be perfect physically, but the way he keeps his happy mood, and does not let his ‘imperfection’ hold him back, was truly inspiring!
To be totally honest, this wasn’t my favourite book in the series. Perhaps that Dolly sometimes drew to conclusions too quickly? Scott’s secret wasn’t the ‘make or break’ kind of secret?
But even if it wasn’t my favourite one, I still loved reading it! It was just by an inch that I prefer one of the previous parts, but Lemon Drop cottage surely fits in perfectly with the feelings I had for Pepper Bay.

The author manages again to grasp the importance of living in a great community, where everyone knows everyone and where they can all count on each other.
The quiet types are easily accepted, even the odd ones (so is there place for me?)
But also reading how sometimes things find a way, putting two people together who couldn’t be even looking for someone…it just showed me again how things can change quickly, but Love works according its own plans!
A wonderful book I truly enjoyed reading, with a lovely pair of main characters, even side characters that made me laugh with their antics, subplots showing us the importance in life – but not taking the spotlight from the main plot.
I laughed over stuff I never thought I would, like gnomes, swooned over the love – bits and felt my heart just get warmer by all the different kind of love present in this book!
