Dawna: I jumped aboard an alien spaceship to rescue my sister, only to find out it wasn’t a rescue at all. Now I'm trapped here, and she won’t budge. That is until a big, blue-gray alien declares I’m his mate. I should be pissed, but he’s easy on the eyes, and, well, he may be our only way back to Earth.
Sylas: At last, humans are to join the galactic community. In their orbit, the universe speaks to me for the first time since my family’s death. It points to a feisty blue-eyed female. The Totality’s call is clear—she is mine. But she is strongheaded and fights the pull. I will guide her, and when she is ready, we will seal in the sacred Olmi bond of fralight.
Claimed in Orbit is a fated mates SciFi Alien Warrior Romance featuring a stern, duty-bound hero with a soft spot for his mate and a head-strong woman who guards her heart as strongly as she guards her sister.
Brianna Everly’s home planet is Earth, but when she isn’t writing she’s standing in an open field hoping for an alien abduction. While she waits, she loves to craft dirty, dominant, possessive aliens who have an over-the-top loyalty to their humans. Her stories are filled with heart, adventure, strong heroines, steamy fun, and every one of them ends in a guaranteed happily ever after.
She lives in the midwest with a husband who is devastatingly normal, two lovely offspring, a canine, and two felines, one of which thinks he’s the overlord of the universe.
I guess I should just say it wasn’t my cup of tea. Not badly written, apart from a few grammatical errors (laid instead of lay, etc.) But I just can’t deal with a female that loses her senses (and all the lofty goals the author spends the opening chapters building the importance of) because of his cock or because she’s horny and has nothing else to offer the reader. Nope. Shallow. Lost my interest about a third of the way through. Skipped a bit in hopes it got better - before I knew it I had reached the end. What I read in between didn’t change. I think I might enjoy her writing style if not for the contrived plot. I’m sorry. I went into this with the best of intentions. Just not a story I buy.
I found the world building to be unique and interesting. The main characters are Sylas, an alien Omni and Dawna, a human who accidentally joins a group of humans on their way to become mates and baby mothers to the Omni males. Dawna is matched by something called the Totality to Sylas. But she is kicking and screaming all the way, fighting an insane attraction to the hunky male. It was intense at times, hilarious at other times and very steamy. The dirty talk alone was hot enough to burn pages. I enjoyed it and read it from cover to cover because I just HAD to see what happened next. I hope it’s a series because I don’t think that was the last of the Ghents. I received an ARC of this book from the author. Thank you Brianna Everly.
The story was good, but I wanted there to be more of a bond between the hero and heroine. I know they were fated mates, but I didn't feel the connection. It was strange that the aliens had their own language, but when it came to bad words or words dealing with sex, they used the same words as humans. And the story lacked world building; the cover is awesome, and as I said previously, the story is good. I just hope book 2 will improve on some of the things that I found distracting.
I tried because I'd seen a lot of talk about this book, but had to DNF. The writing was too clunky and immature. The sex scenes made me laugh and not in a good way.
I had an ARC of this book. I really loved the switch up in this alien romance. Sylas was so sweet and completely devoted. He really had to win Dawna over. I’m really interested to see how things go with the other women.
I really enjoyed this read about fated mates of an alien and his feisty little human.
When Dawna follows her sister onto an alien ship, she's beyond surprised when she's suddenly pursued by a big alien warrior. Sylas was totally devoted to his da-na from the start; I loved how romantic he was and how hard it became for Dawna the more she resisted him.
Highly enjoyable alien abduction story, and I look forward to more in this series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This sci-fi romance is okay, but I would not choose to read any more books in this series. The characterization felt a little clumsy, the world building was a little odd and not that vibrant, and the plot was a bit disjointed. The writing was okay, but not especially skilled. This read like a debut novel written by someone who had never written anything as part of their profession before. It was not terrible, it was just very forgettable and rough around the edges.
I received a free copy of this book, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
If you like hot, alpha aliens 👽 with "special" anatomy, a feisty heroine who knows her own mind, and a beautifully thought out, interconnected alien world, this book is for you. This book manages to capture some or the most popular alien abduction tropes whilst still remaining fresh and unique. Whether you're a certified alien obsessive or just curious about the genre, I'd highly recommend this book.
I was given a ARC in return for this honest review.
This is a fated mates trope. It may be classed as alien abduction, but technically, Dawna gets on the ship of her own free will while trying to stop her sister leaving.
The plot is nicely paced in the beginning. Dawna unwittingly becomes a stowaway on the alien ship and is trying to work out what the hell is going on. Once the world building is established, however, the pace flags a bit.
Sylas is adorable. If you can call a giant, grey-and-blue hulking alien - with sensual and erogenous hair that moves and glows - adorable. It’s not just that he’s gorgeous, it’s his possessiveness and desire to protect - it sends tingles up the spine. He wants to take care of Dawna from the second he claps eyes on her and even though he’s desperate to have sex and seal their bond, he waits. He allows her time to adjust. He offers to let her return to Earth, just to make her happy, even though he would find it unbearable. He mixes alpha hero with cinnamon roll perfectly.
Dawna is feisty and independent and fights the pull of the bond. She’s determined to get home, but promises to try. I also liked that she’s pragmatic. There’s no screaming panic. Dawna accepts her situation, but also works towards resolving it and returning to Earth.
I found Dawna really relatable. She both bristles at Sylas’s possessiveness, but also likes it, and she’s not necessarily happy about how much she likes it either. Then she keeps saying it’s not fair to lead him on because she’s leaving, but at times she can’t resist the pull. It keeps the tension nice and high.
The heat is there from the moment they meet. The instalust is a constant, complete with filthy language to get the pulse going. Almost every page is filled with lusty glances. The desire between them is palpable and it takes over the plot. There’s constant banter about what they would like to do to one another. My only quibble with that is the overuse of the word c**t. At times it was used on every page and it stopped adding a steamy kick to the dialogue and became commonplace.
This is a new author for me and the first book in a new series. Dawna is a midwife in training. And a roller derby queen both parents are gone and she's been taking care of her sister since their passing. She practical, tough and caring she just wants to keep her sister safe and out together the best life she can. Then the Alien ins make contact and everything she knows changes Sylas is command r of this Olmi warriors. There Prime have been decimated by a horrible insect like enemy that almost managed to wipe out his entire race. now that Earth and the humans have made contact there is a renewed chance at saving his people. For the Olmi and the humans are comparable. Sylas has made his first journey to earth to pick up willing females to come back with him and see if any feel the mating bond he to holes to be able to firm's mate among the human women. Both Dawna and Sylas have a bit of a rocky start there are miscommunications , cultural differences ,concerned sisters and family that doesn't always make them right choices. Can two people so different work together put aside their differences and embrace a love that will challenge and change them forever? You'll have to read and find out! Solid world building strong characters and lots not passions. I'm looking forward to book number 2. 🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖
If you love a good alien abduction story that includes a possessive virgin alien, a home in space and a feisty tease of a human female this is one you have to check out!
Claimed in Orbit is a dual POV of Dawna, a female who lives in Chicago, plays roller derby, loves her sister and wanted to be a midwife and Sylas, a large male Olmi alien who is the commander of the warriors and is trying to save his people from the evil Ghet aliens that destroyed his planet and killed his family.
A cheesy little romance. Fated mates with an emphasis on their version of the universe connectivity. It was cool reading about their spirituality. Who doesn’t love a race of sexy aliens who’s only motivation is to better the world and protect and love the women they take into their care. Alien romance is what it is, but the alien part allows the writer to create a species of people that have none of the faults of a real life person. Like, the males in this story would never dream of violating a boundary, because this alien race is specifically designed to never do that and that’s not something you could say for a normal man. It creates this other level of fantastical story telling that’s just really fun and wholesome.
This was a fun intro book for a new series and I really enjoyed how things seemed twisted from other sci fi romances. This one has a super sweet (but dirty talking) alien guy with a human gal that's trying very hard to resist her intense attraction to him. This made for some intense interactions but the humour and heat balanced all that out rather nicely ;P All great fun and I'm looking forward to the next book.
When it comes to any form of sci-fi or fantasy book for me, the most crucial part is world-building. And this book doesn’t only have it in spades. Everly has created a world and species which isn’t the norm for the sci-fi genre. Definitely one of the best parts of this book. Honestly, I could read this story just for the world-building.
The characters were okay; Sylas was interesting, but there were moments where I found myself beyond annoyed with Dawna. The pace could have used a bit of work both as a whole and within individual scenes, but it didn’t overly affect the story.
The writing was decent but could have used a bit more sentence-level fine-tuning to enhance the tone and emotions of the story. Not a book I would reread, but Claimed in orbit seems like a good start to what would hopefully be a great series.
Umm, wow. I've never tried alien romance, but after seeing countless ads and snippets from this, I thought I'd take a chance, and I'm glad I did. Hot and heart-filled, it was a wonderful quick read. I'm already looking forward to a seqiel.
Heroine who knows her own mind? Check. Alien alpha male who needs to save his species? Check. Found family? Check. Claimed in Orbit was a great read, full of action and adventure and spice.
With the right ingredients to lure me into an alien romance, I threw myself into it. A female character who tries to stop her sister from doing something crazy, and ends up fully inserted into the alien universe when he chooses her to be his mate. A funny plot, but from 40% to 50%, I started to find the explanations of the alien world a little confusing, and I lost the connection. 3,5 stars
Not really for me, the writing was a little corny for me:
“I’m so horny, hurry up!”
“Oh! Big boy!”
“You got your wish, buddy. I’m all yours. Fuck me with that huge dick of yours.”
"Several days had passed since Sylas and I first hooked up. Several long, sex fueled days. We were insatiable, well, him mostly. I was just weak against his advances. No complaints, though, Sylas was a very giving lover."
I meant that last one honestly... I mean she's using "hooked up" for their finally mating because she gave in and had sex with him, and now she is like "I guess it's not so bad." Just doesn't do it for me romance wise.
I found I didn't like Dawna, she was always saying how she didn't want to lead Sylas on but then would immediately qet naked or rub up on him.... She was a pain in the ass and it was hard to see any actual connection between her and the commander other than they were fated and sexually obsessed with each other.
The sister's behavior is described as a mental health issue. Dawna describes Claire as having a history of manic periods, of reclusive behavior, of obsession to the point of being unable to care for herself. But in the end she just apologizes for 'being an idiot.'
Anyways I was recommended this book for the world building and that part is pretty interesting, if you're able to get past golden psychedelic cum and a lot of cheesey writing. I think this is a new author and I'm interested to see her follow up growth.
I read Saved in Space earlier this year and fell in love with the author’s writing and the world she had created in this series. I was really looking forward to reading this book and having finished it I can happily say I am not disappointed in the least.
This story has a lot of classic Alien romance elements that fans of the genre would enjoy, but it’s also beautifully unique and I can easily say I’ve never quite read a book like this before.
The world that the author has created for this series is so mesmerising. The concept of the totality, the crystalloids, the connection shared by mates and other metaphysical elements of this book were so interesting to read about. I also really enjoyed the world building in this book. It wasn’t info-dumpy at all, in fact we learnt about the world alongside the MC and that takes skill on the author’s part to write which I really appreciated, especially since this is a debut novel.
And I’m just gonna put it out there, Sylas was an absolute darling. I was taken aback by how much I loved him. When I first started reading this book I expected him to be a bit of an alpha-hole but he surprised me. He’s definitely a stern alpha brunch daddy on the outside but such a big softie for his mate which is the best kind of Male lead imo. His patience, devotion and respect for Dawna and her choices and how he always thought of her and put her first made me love him that much more. Consent was beautiful in this novel.
Coming to Dawna, I admired her and related to her but she also frustrated me at times. She is both selfish and selfless all at once. Her protectiveness towards her sister was admirable for the most part but there were times it got annoying. Dawna linked every decision she made directly to her sister, kind of like her word revolves around her sister, and while it’s truly selfless of her, she sometimes came across a nagging overprotective mother lol.
Having said that I liked how determined and strong Dawna was, and how she wanted to work and contribute. She’s independent and takes pride in that fact and I loved how the author retained that as well as her drive to learn, work and help out till the very end of her story.
As a couple I definitely found Dawna and Sylas endearing. Their chemistry was great and the sexy times were absolutely amazing, no complaints in that department whatsoever. I would have liked a little more from Dawna in the romance department but regardless I really liked the couple.
The storyline was immersive and the action sequences were very engaging. There wasn’t a minute where I found myself bored or losing interest. The book was also very atmospheric and the descriptions were beautiful, such that I could visualise them as if they were before my eyes. The story really picks up the pace in the last third of the book and the and feeling of fear, helplessness, desperation coupled with strength and perseverance were portrayed beautifully. There a was a bit towards the end of the book however, something traumatic that happens to a side character, that felt incredibly triggering to me personally. I didn’t see it coming at all and felt very disturbed when I read it.
But overall this was imo a very solid debut novel. One of the best debuts I’ve ever read to be honest. It was unique, engaging and well written. It had depth, great characters exploration and beautiful world-building. I’m excited for the next instalment in the series. Nothing but praises for the author!
Alright, this took longer to read that I anticipated (darn you college classes 😔) But let’s get into this review
Let me get started with a thank you for Brianna Everly. I didn’t expect to received an ARC of this book but, here we are reviewing this wonderful book. So once again, thank you Brianna Everly!
Okay, so our heroine, Dawna, is a tough woman who isn’t afraid to speak her mind and shows how much family means to her, especially her sister. After some unexpected events, never would she have thought that by going after her sister she would find herself among (attractive) aliens. This, being introduced to the Olmi, and like any other alien romance book I’ve read, the Olmi are in serious need of women and offsprings to replenish their people.
The Olmi have collected female human volunteers who are willing to help them replenish their tribe while in return, the Olmi teach the women how to connect with the universe, or in this case, the Totality. (Side note: I love how it’s like a small connection to spirituality.)
Dawna is determined to find a way back home to Earth for her and her sister but, the Totality has other plans. Plans such as pairing her with an Olmi, Sylas, who is the commander. Despite trying her best to not get attached, she can’t help herself but find Sylas attractive and can’t control how much her body wants him.
Then there’s Sylas, our sexy alien commander who yearns for the Totality and eventually is paired with Dawna. He would do anything to become one with her. Despite his urges, he is patient with Dawna. Accepting her terms and helping her get accustomed to the lifestyle of his people. Yet, for a virgin alien, he has such a dirty mouth. The dirty talk is absolutely scorching that I had to take some breathers because wow, does he know how to charm a woman.
Now, there were some times that I did get a bit annoyed when Sylas showed too much possessiveness (in my opinion) but, I guess that’s just one of the traits when you deny to mate with your chosen alien mate. After all, if you haven’t been claimed, then it just leaves a small window open for other male aliens to claim you because they see it as a sign that you reject the chosen male. So I suppose that possessiveness was that small frustration of Sylas.
Overall, I enjoyed the world building of this book. The 🌶🌶🌶 scenes were indeed spicy 🥵🔥. I love how the Olmi tend to live in harmony, connecting with their higher selves and with the Universe. It shows that nice little somewhat utopia.
But I will say it, if I had the chance to volunteer and help replenish a dying alien species and in return I get to connect with my higher self + a hot alien mate…then sign me up!
I do hope there will be more future books with the Olmi. As much as I love Sylas, I also found myself loving another Olmi and his name is Emmex. So fingers crossed 🤞🏼🤞🏼
Sylas arrived at the planet Earth to pick up their precious cargo, human women who would become their mates and give them children. Their planet Orbitis had been destroyed by an attack and they were starting over. Each of the males was filled with hope that they would find a mate among the females. As Sylas waited in the ship for the return of the avian pilots, he felt the Totality call to him alone. His mate was on Earth and the infinite power of the Totality would bring her to him!
Dawna lost track of her sister, Claire. They were supposed to meet here but Claire did not respond to her texts. Screens drew everyone’s attention as the President announced sentient life beyond Earth and told them the governments of the world are talking to aliens now who have come in peace. Dawna grabbed her roller derby bag and saw her phone had a message. Claire was going with the aliens! She arrived at an alley in time to see a ship taking in the last passenger. She had to hurry as the circular door was beginning to close – she jumped inside.
An alien put Dawna over his shoulder as she argued with her sister about this crazy decision. He carried her to where the ship was piloted. A presence like the heat waves off a hot sidewalk touched her and she calmed. Then it went over to a huge alien with his back to her. He turned and their eyes met. And he told her they were mates!
Sylas felt the universe speak to him for the first time since his family was killed and his planet destroyed. The Totality has chosen this woman for him. But she fights against falling for him and against their connection. Will Sylas be patient and wait for her to want him? Will she join him in the sacred Olmi bond of fralight? Or will she insist she and Claire be taken back to Earth no matter what she is feeling for him?
🔥 “I’ve silenced that teasing mouth, haven't I?” ~~~ Dawna is one feisty woman! I loved that she was not afraid to speak her mind and she knew what she wanted. In addition, I loved that family meant so much to her and she was so protective of her sister. Even more, she’s so strong and brave. I loved her so much!
And Sylas was just the right male to tame such a fiery woman! He’s so strong, powerful and bossy. Moreover, I loved how thoughtful, respectful, patient and fiercely protective he is. And that dirty mouth of his! And as a bonus, he comes with a special equipment he definitely knows how to use. The commander of the Olmi is such a delicious male and I absolutely adored him!
I loved everything that happened between Dawna and Sylas! In the beginning she was determined to go back to Earth and he was determined to keep her. But, all is fair in love and war and the Totality cannot be ignored. There was a lot of tension between the two, but I loved how well they fit together. I really liked that Dawna really tried to keep an open mind with everything happening and I loved that Sylas was so patient and respectful. They were a truly fantastic match and I loved the teasings and banters so, so much. And, when they finally gave into their feelings, oh boy, let me tell you it was HOT!
In addition, the wolrdbuilding was absolutely fantastic! I loved that we got to explore the Biocylinder - it’s such a beautiful place. And the Olmi are amazing people.
Overall, the story is a magnificent read filled with fast-paced action, danger, adventure, humor, drama, twists, steamy romance and magnificent characters.
I loved it and cannot wait to see what happens next!
I love how protective the fMC is towards her sister, even going as far as jumping on an alien ship to make sure she is okay and not making a horrible mistake.
So at first, Dawna (the fMC) doesn’t want to be in space, on the alien spaceship, at all, she’s just there for her sister Claire. But as it turns out, she’s an alien’s fralight (which is the same thing as a soul mate). Now she has to deal with being in space, being an alien’s mate and trying to keep her sister safe.
The book is written in dual POV, so you get to see Dawna’s and Sylas’ thoughts, which especially in the beginning is fun because there’s a language barrier for a little bit. Sylas is an alien, who looks alien, even down there, so if you’re not into that, steer clear, but otherwise, come enjoy 😝.
The only thing that slightly annoyed me was Dawna, especially in the beginning. I get that she was unsure, scared and confused but she’s so fickle in the beginning in a way that irritated me. But that does get better when she finally makes a decision for herself. I also would’ve liked to see a bit more protectiveness towards her sister Claire, as I found it a bit lacking, she kinda ‘forgets’ about her quite quickly in the beginning because she’s spending loads of time with Sylas.
I loved the world-building and would love to see more of it!
All in all, a good, easy read that’s well-written with no errors as far as I spotted!
Dawna has been looking after her sister ever since their parents were killed in crash. To be honest, without intending to, she's been treating her sister like a child rather than the grown woman she is. Dawna has her own life and plans but hasn't really taken into consideration that her sister has chosen a different path to her own. When she gets a text message from her sister telling her she's leaving the planet, Dawna rushes to prevent her only to be taken along for the ride. She's convinced that these aliens she's landed amongst have a hidden agenda but she also cannot deny that she feels a pull towards one of them. She wants to go home and the only way is to get the Commander on side. Would have to be the one alien she'd miss wouldn't it? Sylas has been looking to find a species compatible with his own for a long time. To discover that not only are humans compatible with the Olmi but that they also feel the fralight, the mating bond is more than he thought possible. He knows that he has felt his mate on that little blue planet but has no way of knowing if he will ever get to meet her. Next moment she has been brought right in front of him but while she seems swayed by him she is determined to go home. How can he convince his stubborn mate that she is his reason for breathing and keep her with him always?
I think this is a great start to a new series. I like the concept of the connection to the universe and how enlightened the Olin are. I really like the MMC and the world.
My only complaint is the FMC. I didn’t like her at all. I don’t know what it was about her. I guess I didn’t like her snark. I didn’t find it endearing and i didn’t like her thinking she could force her sister to leave with her. Like her desires trumped her sisters and she wasn’t even entertaining the idea that her sister wanted to stay. Everything was going they one ear and out the other with her. I get he sister had a lot of cognitive dissonance going on. Always changing her mind and what not but that’s no excuse. The way her feistiness was written was annoying. Not cute. And honestly the personalities of the main characters didn’t mesh well in my opinion. Also, I felt like her way of dirty talk was forced and corny. Don’t get me wrong, I love dirty talk. But from her it didn’t feel natural.
If not for my dislike of the FMC, I would have given 5 stars. I’m definitely gonna continue the series cause I like it very much in general and I’m sure the next FMC’s will have different personalities that I will enjoy better.
TLDR - good characters with great cultural differences -
Every now and then I just crave an alien book with those primal mate vibes and (fingers crossed) an element of breeding and these definitely covered the first portion of that craving.
This looks like it’s the authors first book and its done really well. I really enjoyed it and there was no glaringly annoying things about the book. The world made sense and so did the characters. My only world building gripe which isn’t a big deal is I find it weird when another word is used by an alien race to replace on of our own words but they use it in all of the same contexts so in this case it was tevv/fuck. It just feels like they wouldn’t be used completely interchangeably because when we compare to other languages in real life they don’t all use the same words for swear words, but that being said it’s not a huge deal
The smut in this was really good. I like how the FMC was telling the MMC what they liked and how they complied to that. Also I just liked that it was in there and still graphic enough because I sometimes worry I’m gonna pick up a pg alien book. I can enjoy a pg book I just don’t grab alien books for that
Overall I really liked this book and enjoyed it the whole way along
