This was our book club book for January. In short it was very cute and took place in a beautiful lake town with views of mountains. Memphis is an aspiring photography author who needed a getaway from life for a bit. He goes to Montana with his brother and sister and law to just chill. He meets Kiannah at a club who is going through a rocky divorce and they instantly hit it off.
I thought the two of them were really cute together and the story is sweet, very low angst. However there are so many grammatical errors in this book that it often times takes you right out of the story. There are also some inconsistencies with out their families treated them as well as one another. Lastly, this is very low heat on the romance. Almost fade to black so I'd you like higher steam levels and connections, this is not it.
This is the second book to the Hidden Lake Series and this book was really good. Kiannah was going through a divorce and Memphis was going through things with his career and personal life. They met during transitions in their life and needed the fresh and instant connection they had with each other.
This author is always refreshing when she tells stories and they always flow very well. Well done!
2.5 ⭐️ there was nothing necessary wrong with this book or the plot it was just boring for me, I was waiting for a plot twist or some type of drama to arise but I got nothing lol
Ms. Rose I am fully invested in this series. I know that all of the books are stand-alones, but they are still harmonizing together. The Oak bar seems to be the hang out spot that is going to introduce more loving couples to 'Hidden Lake.'
Kiannah and Memphis had more in common than meets the naked eye. The obvious was their creative skills, both being artists in their own rights. The other being both had to establish a sense of home. They each had their different reasons why they needed that place of security where you share memories with family and friends. Although, each had alarming issues with their family members they both were willing to make amends and heals the issues.
This is another magnificent read, that you will fall in love with. It is always great to read a genuine love story with little to no drama. It is the kind of love that hits your heart at a different angle. I know the one thing I liked in this book and the last one that not only the main characters finds love but their friends as well.
P.S. This is a great read, just a suggestion (constructive criticism), maybe re-reading and re-editing. I ran across quite a few sentences with punctuation in the middle of them.
III was an easy laid back read. Which is cool. Every book doesn’t have to be all ratchet and filled with drama after drama. However, I would have preferred a more detailed description of the characters. I love reading because I get to picture the words in my mind and watch it play out like a movie. However, because Ms. Rose was very vague with the descriptions of the characters, it was hard to really connect with them. Like all I know about Kyanna is that she’s brown skin, 29 and short hair. I all know about is Memphis is tall , dark and handsome with a beard. I don’t know if he’s stocky or lean? Eye color? Dimples? Straight nose or broad nose? His age? I don’t know if Kyanna is slim, slim thick, thick, or curvy. I don’t know if she’s short or tall. When writing those types of details are important. So it was just alright for me.
I can say I liked this romance more than I have any that I've read in a short while, I believe. It was funny without trying too hard, touching, tense at times, and I loved the vibe between Kiannah and Memphis. It's rare that I like both the heroine and the hero but they were both likeable characters that still weren't made to be unbelievably un-flawed. The smooth buildup of their relationship was refreshing to read. The only reason why it's 4 stars and not 5 is because of the editing. There were just too many errors throughout the book to ignore. Thankfully it had no affect on how much I enjoyed the actual story, but it does detract from the overall experience, for me. If it wasn't for that, this definitely would've gotten 5 stars.
These two couldn’t get enough of each other after their initial meeting. They ran into each other while out and about as well as spent time together. It progressed nicely too. I liked how they were open an honest with each other throughout the whole courtship. They’d each been through some things so they allowed each other space to deal with what was going on in their lives - no pressure. Great read
I really liked Memphis and Kianna together. They were both finding their way in new situations and found each other and just clicked from hello. Their journey was cute with how they balanced each other and encouraged each other. There are quite a bit of grammatical and word errors in this book but not enough to take away from the enjoyment of reading the story.
This story gives me the feels. Memphis was hoping to just stay in Hidden Lake long enough to figure out a new plan. Little did he know a chance meeting at a bar, would turn his world around. Loved the instant chemistry between Memphis and Kihana. Great feel good story.
Despite more than a few grammatical errors, which became a bit of a distraction especially towards the end, the organic love that grew between Memphis and Kiannah was fun to read. I’m glad D. Rose didn’t rush the relationship between the two of them.
This was a beautiful book. The realism of how the characters connected with one another was different and much appreciated. The only downer was the typos and grammatical errors. I’ve never seen this author have so many impactful grammatical issues.. but overall good read!
I love second chance romances. Kiannah and Memphis both had relationships gone wrong. Them meeting each other and getting to know each other made this book really good. I love how they did not put labels on what they were doing until it became an actual relationship. This book was pretty good.
Kiannah and Memphis were adorable! Things moved along pretty quickly with them, as they needed the support and companionship while dealing with trying circumstances in their lives. As they spend more time together, life starts to settle, while love is blossoming. Cute, quick read. 👍👍👍
I borrowed this on KU and the version I got was not properly edited or formatted. There was a chunk of story missing (blank pages) in the beginning that would have probably given me a little background on these characters. I had to guess/imagine what happened before to get into the story. Memphis and Kiannah were a cute couple. I loved how supportive they were of each other. They both had harshly critical and intrusive parents who sort of came around after a while, but all in all it was an okay story.
I enjoyed reading! I especially loved that it was drama free… meaning things were handled from the gate! There were editing issues throughout the book, couldn’t give five stars☹️
I like how Memphis and Key still were hopeful when it comes to love. Even though the last relationships they had ended badly, they learned their lessons and tried again. Great read
I would have given it five stars but it got four because the editing was so bad. The story was very heartwarming and I enjoyed reading something that wasn't full of over the top drama on every page.
Just because a beautiful woman is getting a divorce doesn’t mean another can find her attractive I like the way Memphis continues to do what he loves despite of he father degrading him
Kiannah's Mother and Sister was getting on my nerves. She should of been let her parents know why her marriage didn't work. Memphis is so sweet. Finally got that recognition from his Father that he wanted. He finally found a place to call home💞💞.
I love love Memphis and Kiannah together. They supported each other which was definitely needed for the two of them. I would love to see how they far beyond the epilogue. However very good read. I’m loving this series.
Thank you for this story I really enjoyed it, Hidden Lake series is so good can't wait to read the next one it's so good to read about Black Love keep it coming ladies.😍
