Rashfordin ja Alex Falase-Koyan "Peto aidan takana" (Hertta, 2023) aloittaa uuden Aamupalaporukan tutkimukset -nimisen lastenkirjasarjan, jossa englantilaiset seiskaluokkalaiset perustavat mysteerejä ratkaisevan kerhon.
Harmin paikka.
A short mystery about where objects mysteriously disappear to when they go over the school fence. This was pretty cute and I liked the eclectic group of kids that made up the Breakfast Club. This feels like younger middle grade, more like 8-10 year-old range.
I’d say it’s a 3.5 stars, but not quite a 4 star read. It’s a simple story with some good moral points. My year 5 class enjoyed it and they do want to read the next one in the series!
Book Review: The Breakfast Club Adventures by Marcus Rashford
I recently finished reading The Breakfast Club Adventures by Marcus Rashford, and I can confidently say that it was an enjoyable and refreshing read. As someone who works closely with children, I found this book relatable and inspiring, providing me with plenty of ideas that could be adapted for real-life activities.
The story centers on a group of young friends who form a breakfast club at school and embark on solving a series of mysteries. What I loved most was how the book seamlessly blended school life with exciting investigations, giving young readers a sense of agency and adventure. The writing was light and engaging, making it a quick read that pulled me in from start to finish.
The investigative aspect was my favorite part, as it reminded me of how children, when given the right encouragement, can use their curiosity and creativity to solve problems. The book's balance of fun and mystery made me feel as though I was alongside the characters, helping them crack the case. I could easily see children being inspired by this story to explore their surroundings and come up with their own imaginative mysteries to solve.
Overall, The Breakfast Club Adventures is an ideal book for children who enjoy mystery and adventure. It’s a great way to encourage critical thinking and teamwork among young readers, and it left me with a lot of ideas for my own work with children. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a fun, uplifting read that sparks curiosity and imagination.
Man Utd. footballer Marcus Rashford seems to be everywhere you look at the moment, with self-help books, biographies and this Breakfast Club Adventures series.
Inspired by his own experiences growing up of having to go to a breakfast club before school, this is the story of a group of kids who form a club in order to solve mysteries around their school environs. In this, the first in the series, Marcus and his friends have all lost something over the fence beside the school where everyone is forbidden from going - but they want their things back.
Marcus has lost his precious football, given to him by his much adored older cousin, who has gone to play footy in the US on scholarship. He is desperate to get it back before she comes home so joins with the club and starts to get himself mixed up in the strange mystery.
The kids find themselves chasing an unidentified, rather scary, creature whilst also trying to keep their activities secret from the eagle eyed teachers at school.
A fun mystery- adventure for fans of action and also sport.
Marcus likes Breakfast Club where he meets up with his friends. One morning he’s left a note asking if he wanted to join the BCI. He joins the Breakfast Club Investigators because he has lost his football. He accidentally kicked it over the fence, and now he’s no good a football. The BCI looks like the only way he’ll get it back before his cousin comes home and finds out he lost the football she gave him. The only problem is that going through the fence is completely against the school rules, and nobody has ever tried to go into the building on the other side – that’s too scary. The BCI decide to go through the fence and into the building. They find it terrifying, and trouble at school and home comes charging towards them. Do they find what they’ve missed? I enjoyed the mix of things the characters were missing and how the children discovered how different things are important to other people. Recommended for junior readers aged 8-12 years.
The Breakfast Club Adventures is a fun and heartwarming story about friendship, teamwork, and having the confidence to be yourself. There’s a bit of mystery woven into the plot, which keeps things interesting, but at its core, it’s all about kids looking out for one another, helping each other through challenges, and finding their voice along the way.
It’s not a flashy or over-the-top book—it’s just genuinely nice. The kind of story that feels familiar and comforting. Perfect as a bedtime read, especially if you’re sharing it with a younger reader. And honestly? Why not give it a go. It’s a light, feel-good adventure with a good message at its heart.
It’s been a while since I last read a book. I found The Breakfast Club Adventures at my work’s library and the cover was interesting so I picked it up. I started reading it at the end of the summer course and when the school term begun, I barely had time to sleep.
The book itself is okay. I LOVED the unique idea of the pages when it changes according to the events. Black pages when they are in a dark place, stained when there is a fog and little scribbles here and there as an image to the word. The story kept me engaged even if it wasn’t top notch. The beast beyond the fence!? Glad we solved that case. 3 stars
My 7 year old grandson wanted me to read this after he had finished it. So I did. It takes me back to the Famous Five stories I read as a youngster. My grandson thoroughly enjoyed it and I can see why. It has the right mix of mystery and intrigue as well as friendships. He enjoyed it so much that he and my granddaughter started their own investigations when we have been out for walks.
It is at the right level for this age group and had the right level of suspense. It was written clearly and easily.
This book is for children aged 8-11 years. But of course I’m gonna buy it and read it and support my favourite footballer! And no bias, it was a really good book! As someone who loves mysteries I dare say my younger self would’ve enjoyed it thoroughly too. It was a really convincing mystery that I didn’t manage to figure out even. And it has promise for a series, so I’m really hoping Marcus writes more of these books!
This book will hold a special memory with it being the first chapter book of the non-fantasy variety I read with my son. He’s a football crazy, Man U mad 7-year-old. Santa brought him this Marcus Rashford title and he loved it!
And he now eats Weetabix with gusto. Here’s to him being the next “footballing machine”.
I enjoyed the first third of the book, but later it becomes boring and repetitive. At the beginning I like it very much because they, the group of friends, try to find the monster who is is stealing stuff from them. They found out what the monster is very early in the book and after thay its all about the same thing.

I read this in class with my reciprocal reading group. To me, it feels quite clear that Marcus Rashford is not the main author of this book. It is very Americanised as well. But the plot is decent, and my kids seemed to enjoy reading it! They liked the fact that Marcus Rashford writes book, and my more reluctant readers wanted to read it as a result
Jake and I read this together over a series of weeks but he didn’t love it. Weeks went where he only wanted to read bits of it once or twice and then would pick up other books. Overall he liked the story but it didn’t grab his attention
Given (majority) 3 stars by my year 4 class. Some seemed to enjoy it more than others, I did notice a few of them losing interest in it about half way through. I thought the story dragged a little bit.
There's something strange going on at school... I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and with such a different story for each of the characters. Being a member of Breakfast Club myself, and it's opened my eyes as to what adventures are on the other side of the fence...
My Short Review of The Beast Beyond the Fence I really liked The Beast Beyond the Fence because it was full of mystery and kept me guessing. The team’s adventure was exciting, and I enjoyed how they worked together to solve the mystery. It was fun, a little spooky, and hard to put down!

This is such a good read. It teaches children about morals and how friendships work. I really enjoyed reading this book it was such a quick read but I really took this book on board. Marcus Rashford does know how to write a really good children’s book. I will be reading book two in this series xxx
