Pepper enlists the help of her family in the search for her animals, but what they discover is terrifying. A creature is inhabiting the sewers and Pepper is convinced there is a sinister reason behind it. On top of that, one of her closest loved ones is acting strangely and she's sure that person has been replaced by someone else.
Will Pepper get to the bottom of the mystery of what happened to her animals? Is the creature in the sewer related? And what's happened to her loved one? Will everything be revealed, or will her life go up in smoke?
Hey, I’m Amy, I write books for folks who crave laugh-out-loud paranormal mysteries. I help bring humor into readers’ lives. I’ve got a Pharm D in pharmacy, a BA in Creative Writing and a Masters in Life. And when I’m not writing or chasing around two small children (one of which is four going on thirteen), I can be found antique shopping for a great deal, getting my roots touched up (because that’s an every four week job) and figuring out when I can get back to Disney World. If you’re dying to know more about my wacky life, here are three things you don’t know about me. —In college I spent a semester at Marvel Comics working in the X-Men office. —I worked at Carnegie Hall. —I grew up in a barbecue restaurant—literally. My parents owned one. If you want to reach out to me—and I love to hear from readers—you can email me at amyboylesauthor@gmail.com. Happy reading!
I’m reading this series back to back. I usually find her books fun and quite entertaining. This book basically made Pepper’s character sound like a complete nut job. Ross and Ellen’s characterizations were akin to an afterthought.
I will continue reading the series as well as others by this author as I really enjoy her books and recommend them to my friends… just not this one exception…
This one was badly plotted and the character motivations were absurd. Whenever you have a plot that requires no one talking to anyone to advance, you're in trouble. I don't read these expecting deathless fiction, but I do expect a well told tale. Maybe the writer is bored with character and needs something new.
I'll read the next one and see if she can get it back on track.
Well this book was nothing at all that I expected. Tons of strange things are happening in Magnolia Cove, there’s new people moving about, and Pepper is once again in the middle of it all. The very beginning of the book something incredibly sad happens. Pepper finds that The Familiar Place has been broken into, destroyed, and every animal is gone. As if this isn’t enough we have absolutely no idea who did this and Pepper is starting to suspect something strange about her husband. Pepper first suspects that Axel isn’t really Axel! Now I know that sounds crazy but in a town filled with magic and Axel having a twin brother in jail, anything could be possible. First and foremost our beloved handsome hunk Axel Reign has a criminal identical twin brother named Adam who is in jail. It has always loomed in the background of every story, and this story we learn a lot more about him. Another strange thing is the alligator lurking in the sewers of Magnolia Cove. This alligator is huge and looks like he has a huge appetite. The only plus side about the scary alligator is one of the kittens who was lost in The Familiar place raid leads Pepper to the Alligator’s dwelling. Pepper has a ton to deal with and she really needs to get to the bottom of it all. Also, not spoiling anything but something very serious happens at the end of this novel. So serious that it’s one of the first cliff hangers in this series. It will absolutely leave your jaw on the floor, and isn’t your typical Sweet Tea Witch read. It’s so amazing how many dimensions such a fun story can actually have.
This is an entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series. A fun cast of characters in an entertaining storyline. Pepper rain is witch who lives in a magical town where she owns a familiar shop. She’s married to axle rain a half which half werewolf who is basically a private eye/private security works in their magical town as well as others. Peppers grandmother is an official leader of the town as well as a crazy old witch. She has a couple of cousins another family that lives in the town as well. Read to see what kind of adventure pepper and Axel can get into this time. something strange has happened and something even stranger is going on. Can pepper figure it out before it’s too late.
I have loved all of the Sweet Tea Witch Mysteries except this one. The first half of this book was really hard for me to read. Pepper didn't sound like Pepper and it was driving me nuts. She began sounding more like Pepper later in the story but was still off. And Axel, even going through stuff, wasn't himself either. Him I understand, sort of, but theirs is a great epic love story so not really.
I really hope the next book is better and the characters are more like themselves.
This book is so cute it will make you laugh out loud! Pepper isn’t really sure that Axel, her husband, is the real Axel. She convinces herself that his identical twin, Adam, is trying to step in and take over Axel’s life. Even Pepper can’t tell them apart, and when she calls the prison to check if Adam is still there, she’s told that he’s gone. Just think of all of the little things your husband or significant other does that would be easy to misconstrue. 😂 Great series! ❤️
This book was so good. I love that even though this is book 20, the books never feel like they are stagnant. Each book keeps getting better and better. I love this series and would recommend it to anyone who wants to read a clean book filled with hijinks, laughter, mystery and sometimes murder.
In this book by Amy Boyles Pepper's shop is broken into and the animals stolen. Her and Axel head off to find them. They find Ross and Ella living in the woods. Axel starts acting weird and she thinks he's Adam. This was a great book and I can't wait to see where the series goes from here.
Southern Enchanted (Sweet Tea Witch Mysteries book 23
This was another winner. I highly recommend all her books to everyone who loves paranormal mysteries. She writes wonderful characters and lovely love stories. She writes different series and they are all great. I have read over 50 of her books and loved them all. Diana Romano
Well, I finished book 23 and the fun continues!Just as magical as the first book.I love that everyone works together and solve problems. I love that everybody helps out with Gizzy (I like Sassy better). I still recommend this series to anyone who likes fun stories.well. I am off to the next book.Njoy
I wish I didn’t like this series as much as I do I just finished book 23 and it would be nice to do something else but read these books! They are too good and the characters are great with the cutest talking and playful kittens and puppies. Beware you won’t be able to put the books down!
Who's thunk in it! Amy Bottles that's who! What an amazing mind! Adel and Pepper share another edges of adventure with Betty and the cousins! I love this series and can't wait until the next book!
I love this series, but this book was weak. There were significant plot holes, the characters didn't act like themselves (Betty would NEVER fear an alligator), and the crisis was contrived. None of that will prevent me from reading Pepper's next adventure, though.
Love this series! My sister and I read and discuss each book. I am usually ahead of her and have to wait for her to catch up! I love reading, authors like Susan Boyles keeps you engaged in the storyline and each character.
Pepper's shop is broken into and all the animals are missing. Axel is behaving strangely too. Pepper thinks Adam has escaped prison and is causing all the problems.
This is the worst book of the series. There are obvious crater sized holes in the plot. Thankfully I've more or less enjoyed reading all books, with only a few hair pulling moments. I am hesitant to continue reading the last few books, but I will.
The characters continue to make you feel like you are there and trying to help them out. The plot twists keep you guessing but wanting more. I recommend this to anyone who wants a fun and quick read.
This was in the usual Boyles style It had new paranormal characters and Plot curves. I will say she got very carried away with her rambling on more than in previous books in this series.
Not as good as the others in this series and I’m sorry but there was too many lines of “I digress” that I kept thinking gee isn’t there another word or words that could be used. The repeat was awful.
This is a well written and has well developed characters. The story is catching and with the strong characters makes for a very enjoyable read. Great Reading Everyone!
