Alright I've been enjoying this series so far but this one just kinda drug out and the storyline kinda just fell flat. I get what the author was trying to do and establish the main character as an adult but it was just kind of a descent into sex and drugs and really went no further. I am really hoping the next one in this series is better 3.5 stars from me
D finally made it out with the help of Alec ...but now she is in a whole new heap of sh*t that she got into all on her own. Lying to Pops and trying new drugs to escape her wacked out life and trauma ...
When D finally meets a drug dealer that seems to actually give a damn about her, she decides to take advantage. Ace genuinely cares but is also proving to be an enabler.
Hmmm I’m not sure if I’m going to continue with the series. I was hoping Deicide would become her own person, be vicious and manipulative. Instead she’s letting drugs control her and more men are telling her what to do. She also seems super naive about basic things you’d learn in school and from basic life experience; it’s not like she’s been locked in a room her whole life- she attended public school and had friends she hung out with.
I found this book to be less engaging than the previous installments in the series. Additionally, my opinion of Deicide has shifted significantly—I’ve grown increasingly frustrated with her decisions and behavior.
She comes across as overly gullible and naive about the world around her, which feels inconsistent with how her character has been developed thus far. Given her background, I would expect her to demonstrate a greater level of awareness and maturity than the average teenager.
That said, I do appreciate the new direction the storyline is taking and remain interested in seeing how the next book unfolds. I hope to see Deicide’s character evolve—becoming not only stronger, but also more relatable and compelling.
Okay, this one was really bad. Just when you think Deicide will finally grow up and turn into the powerful serial killer you expect her to turn out to be, she turns into a pathetic little druggie, still mentally 6 years old and really annoying.
Ace is a nice addition, but I wish he'd grow some balls.
Also, why is Pops all of a sudden being written like he's Deicide's inner monologue - his dialogue is genuinely shocking now.
Seeing Deicide take some control of her life has been both amazing and also sad because of where it’s leading. But I found this to be one of my favorites of the series so far and I enjoy Ace as a character so far!
This book out of the series was ok. Not my favorite, but we got to learn a little about how Deicide is taking adulthood, which of course is just chaos. It definitely gives you an insight of what happened after she left the cult.
TL;DR: this should be titled: “Aged 18: Deicide Becomes a Crack Head” because that’s all that happens in this novella.
If, like me, you were hoping, finally, for a departure from the childish stream of consciousness that has been the format of Deicide’s childhood and teen years.
“What’s your story?” Deicide: My story? I don’t have a story. What’s that mean? Sigh. She’s 18, apparently went to school, had ‘friends’ there, but the author is still writing her stream of consciousness like she’s been locked in a basement her whole life. We’re supposed to believe she’s never come across concepts like stripping, cocaine, drug dealers, BSDM.
“He’s married? Then why’s he here with me?” He’s literally paying you for sex work. That’s why he’s there. I almost strained my eyes from rolling them so hard every time she was so stupidly naive about everything. Which was a lot, because her inner monologue questioned literally everything anyone said or did the moment after they said and did it.
I don’t buy Deicide’s whole baby thing. Suddenly she’s supposed to WANT a child? This was so out of left field, even in the last book. She was forced to birth a baby and drugged during the whole pregnancy. If there were any times she actually connected with fetus during the pregnancy, the author didn’t bother to show us. It’s still all telling, and still in the most annoying stream of childish consciousness.
Another example of her apparently naivety: her father leaves her a cryptic message and somehow she doesn’t understand it? After all the training in bullshit she had in previous books?
Another example: she lets a complete stranger follow her into her house and does nothing. It’s okay though, he’s the local drug dealer and can he give her a lift to her next errand. “Well I guess he’s not really a stranger,” she justifies to herself like two seconds after meeting him.
The author has commented on how excited she is to write an older Deicide, but I don’t know what she is excited about - there’s no hint of Deicide the Adult being any different to Child Deicide. They have exactly the same stream of consciousness. She’s not dealing with trauma. She has no agency at all. She’s not becoming independent. At every moment she depends on her brothers, her drug dealer, her coworkers. They provide her with every opportunity. While she has started thinking “I can take care of myself. They should be afraid of ME”, but does literally nothing to show either herself or us why she would think that torturing helpless people somehow equips her to handle an attacker. This could have been something the author very easily SHOWED us - have some random goons attack Deicide and show us how her knowledge of anatomy and knives equips her to ruthlessly and messily fuck them up. But no, there is nothing like that.
Disappointing and I probably won’t bother with the rest of the series.
This one starts off strong—Deicide is recovering from the trauma of the cult, and her father (Brother) is right there nursing her. She learns the other brother still works for the cult, despite everything they put her through. Her father presents a victim for her to dissect, and she unleashes all her pain—especially the pain she feels about her own body.
Now 18, Deicide leaves home again, finds work in a grim downtown neighborhood, and fuels her drug addiction with money from dancing. The middle of the book slows down a bit, tying up loose ends while Deicide tries to figure out what adulthood even means for someone raised in chaos.
Personally, this was my least favorite of the series—mostly because Book 4 was such a high. But it still packs a punch.
She’s pulled back home when her father offers her a pregnant victim. And when the baby is born disfigured… he handles it the same way he did with Tickles, her dog. That moment? Gut-wrenching. All the emotions come flooding back for Deicide. Her brother trying to comfort her saying they will get a new baby for her.
This book is Dark, and emotionally twisted. Sea Caummisar doesn’t hold back.
Honestly this is the wildest ride I’ve ever been on ! First off I cannot believe all the things Decide has been through, I’m so impressed that she does have some self control despite being a killer her self.
She escapes the cult even though she didn’t deserve to lose her baby, but back at pops and she is still chasing her freedom.
“I can do this. Think of what I’ll do when I leave here. I’ll get a job. Not many options since I didn’t graduate high school, but if I have to wait tables, that’s what I’ll do. Surely I can serve food to people. A job. A home. Freedom. My own life. Maybe a baby. After I learn to take care of myself. I can have another baby and raise it better than Pops raised me.”
I did not see her becoming a stripper or doing drugs, but I do fully understand how we got here. Sea really is amazing at making everything make sense by the end of the book. Her character building is so good that you feel like you know everyone. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Ace and Decide I’m also super scared of lip 😂

I am so over the father/daughter relationship dynamic in this book. It is so sloppily written and off putting that it actually angers me. SHE WONT STOP SAYING HOW HER DAD KILLED HER BIRTH PARENTS and OMG WHY DOES HE KEEP CALLING HIMSELF POPS, HES ACTUALLY MY BROTHER. I wish I would've kept track of how many times she has brought it up since she learned. Why is her dad suddenly so likable and loving? Why does he just let her do whatever she wants? He was so incredibly heartless, sociopathic, mean, and evil in the first like 3 books. Now that she's 18 he suddenly takes all hands off the wheel and becomes a dotting father? That just straight up doesn't make sense. The only two things in this book that are pretty nice are the fact that she is now dabbling in being a Dom. It makes sense, it's fitting, and just interesting to watch her go through. The second thing is the intro of Ace. He seems nice and he's not annoying as fuck.

3.5 rounded up. This book wasn't my favorite in this series. I understand the importance it has, though. Establishing Deicide as her own person, capable of making choices for herself and being an adult. I can't say I blame her for choosing this path she's going down. She has been through every traumatizing thing you can imagine since book 1, she needs something to help her escape. I do hope there is some form of redemption for her character, though. I will say, I do have a lot of empathy for Pop right now, which makes me feel crazy! We all know the kind of person he is, and yet, I believe he really does love Deicide (as much as he can anyways) and that he's remorseful of the mistakes he made with her. I can totally see Deicide's side of the story, as well, though! She is finally in control of her own life and she's not willing to lose that.
Okay, so Raised by a Serial Killer #5 was like the chill vacation after the trauma rollercoaster of the earlier books—if your vacation still includes some murdery vibes and emotional scars. This one definitely slowed down the pace a bit, but I didn't hate it!
It’s more about Deicide’s life away from her charmingly homicidal father (we love personal growth), and less about the nonstop gore-fest. Don’t get me wrong—there are still some dark moments because, well, look at the title, but it wasn’t as intense or gory this time around. Think psychological damage with a side of "trying to be normal" instead of full-blown bloodbath.
Overall, it felt like a calmer, slower burn story—but I appreciated seeing another side of Deicide. Girl’s still got issues (who wouldn’t?), but we’re rooting for her anyway. Solid 3.5 stars and I’ll definitely keep reading because… I clearly have issues too.
This is a good read as long as you are reading the series, I think otherwise you might get confused on whom some of the characters are, that are mentioned in the story. Deicide is a great character, and you can't blame her choices, with everything she has been and still going through. She is all over the place and is making choices to try and help herself cope. A great storyline in the whole series, this is a little on the game side. Especially compared with the other books in the series. But I see why it was one that was important to portray concerning Deicide's decisions and in life at the moment. Good read, little tame and but would still recommend.
This is the book that show cases how D is becoming her own adult and person, while dealing with all the trauma that was given to her when she was 16 - 17 years old and I only give this 4/5 because there was no “extreme horror” in this one but more so the story of herself as an adult. But it is still wonderfully written and full of details. I believe this is important, and still gives an emotion and psychological pull that I did not see coming on the path she has chosen to take.
I’m begging to feel empathy for Pops, and sad for D BUT this book leaves in a cliffhanger and I cannot wait to see where Book 6 takes it.
Back to the house of evil and victims.... This fucker got 2 current victims hanging out in this torture chamber!! 😳 OMG.... This shit gets worse and worse... I am now scared to see how the series ends...
ok, first 4 stars cause this shit is still holding my fucking attention.... it PROBABLY SHOULDN'T be but yeah... 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ i am hoping for a great ending to this series, there are 5 books left BUT i know that's not going to happen.... i just have a feeling. Poor Deicide's life has been so crazy fucked up so far..... like is there any coming out of it, correcting or any of it getting better for her.... *sigh*
I read too fast for some authors especially if I come across a series like this one. Yeah it's messed up. Bad. And there is animal abuse, but we are talking about a serial killer here. It goes with the territory. Let me just say I hate animal abuse, but the author did a great job of just enough to make you hate Pops and Grams. Bravo. You made me cringe. I just ate this gem up and can NOT wait until the next book comes out. Do yourself a favor, grit your teeth past the Tickles and read the series. It does NOT disappoint.
I know there wasn't a lot of action in this book, but I didn't feel short changed at all. I understand that Deicide was leaving a very traumatic situation and needed to regroup, so if she just went from almost dying back to her old life it wouldn't feel realistic. I am hoping that she gives Pops another chance.. he is screwed up in the head but he really DOES love her. Alec just likes her because she's interesting but he's not devoted like Pops. I'm also interested in what will happen next with Ace.
I like Ace for Deicide. I think she is being a bit petty as she forgives and continues a relationship with Alec even though he took advantage of her and exposed her to the cult; while she continues to ignore pops who obviously loves her and is actively trying to make amends. Pops went too far again when he refused her the gift he offered but I understand his warped logic. I'm curious as to what Lip wants with Pops and can't wait to watch this meeting unfold. On to Book #6
Well how exciting Deicide is finally an adult and get to live a trashy life as she wanted. What a waste of a life even thought you were control all your life. Instead of make use of it like Pops and use your skills carefully you have turn to a life of trash so sad! I can’t see this book or her life getting any better. She will continue to waste it because she can’t see the good that people are doing for her and love her. And how can she not see her own mother was raped but yet all she cares about is her real father or ‘grandfather’!

Deicide, Deicide, Deicide...just when I thought you were safe. Who would have ever thought we would consider Pop's safe?! But now you have to go and be a stripper and an introductory Dom. What next?! Girl, for the love of everything good in the world, get it together! And not with Ace (now watch Ace be her knight in shining cocaine'd armor). I still can't believe I'm now #teampops. What is happening?!
By the way, do NOT read this if you did not survive the last one or, once again, can't fathom the worst form of child abuse ever!!!! Again! You have been warned.
June Read: Raised by a Killer Book #5 Age 18 by Sea Caummisar ⭐️⭐️⭐️. Of course, this book remains unhinged also. This book, to me, is the downward spiral for Deicide into drugs, sex, & attempting to form some independence in a world she is so naive about. This gives us insight into what happens after her cult experience. The lack thereof relationship with her father & establishing that she needs to make money somehow. Also, this is the introduction to "Ace" a new budding friendship. Deicide is finally in control of her life & she doesn't want to risk losing that.
well I can't lie that was all pretty predictable. what else is a young attractive girl, on her own going to do for money ? essentially when no bets are off. of course she will start working at a strip club, of course she would start doing differant and more hard-core drugs. am I surprised Lip is now looking for her Pops? of course not. at this point this is the only way the story could go, for the story to continue. Will we get more of Ace? I hope so. Will she continue in her DOM, stripper era? I also hope so.

Deicide is just really bad at making the right choices I really want to scream at her. It’s like she’s in 1 situation and finds herself in a worse one to the point it makes the first every situation seem like a dream even though it was bad 🤦🏽♀️ she’s annoying me with the drugs though and if she could shut up about “he killed my real dad” it’s like 1. You don’t know the full story yet and 2. Your grandfather slept with your mother who was your now half brothers wife so why are you mad that he’s dead?

Deicide is becoming an adult, a woman taking charge of her life, to the best of her abilities.. Yes, I totally get she's definitely scarred from her education and everything she went through, but I'm sooooo mad at her, please, please, please, PLEASE, listen to Ace !! I'm begging you. 😩
I love him so much, he's the first ever character being sweet to her without any motives, please, please, please, don't make him a monster like the rest of them, Sea Caummisar ! 😩
I read the entire series in a 24 hour period. I couldn't put it down. It is one of the most honest takes on the years old psychological debate of "nature vs nurture" naturally this is fiction therefore darker details than a news story would tell in real life but this kind of stuff really happens and sometimes worse. Dont start it if you are triggered easily by traumatic events.
This one is less exciting and less action. But still very disturbing. She turned into a typical teenager who is a drug addict now. it's understandable that she wanted to be free, like all teenager. But I am not very thrilled about she being ao obsessed that Pops killed her real parents without hearing him out. He raised her after all, doesn't he deserve some mercy from her ? instead of just hatred? i didn't like the fact that she is being so blind sided.
