I found my one true love then walked away from him … and our baby. The thought of even being in the same city as him terrifies me, but this is the job I’ve dreamed of all my life. It’s a chance I have to take. Talon the man is even more than his high school swagger promised. The nightclubs he owns are probably the only parts of his life that are legal. Yet he has women falling all over themselves be with him regardless—or maybe because of the danger that surrounds him. He wears the darkness as well as a three-piece suit. Every emotion I tucked deep down in my heart, bubbles up the moment I see him. I won’t … can’t let myself be drawn in again.
This is a slow burn romance. Temperance will get her happily ever after ... eventually.
Alright...so do not start this one without reading Book 1. Not only will you be confused but it also isn't the typical romance book either. There is no HEA in this one but it is coming and I am sure of it!
This is like the The Two Towers of the Lord of the Rings...lots is happening and this story is important, but it won't be the one they complete the quest...
So just know that going into it and know that a happily ever after will happen. But heartbreak, longing, and patience will happen to get there!
Physical Intimacy...zero... Zero Swearing Single First Person POV (Temperance)
I just posted this review over on the 3rd book in the series but since people obviously check reviews more often for book 1, I thought I'd move it over here. So.
The editing in this series is abysmal. Like, truly neglectful. I'm choosing to ignore it as much as possible to enjoy the story. Another issue is that time skips by without any warning. Days, weeks, even months. A chapter in book 3 ends and the next one starts up 10 months later. Without warning. You just have to figure it out as you read.
So why am I still reading this series? Because it's like cotton candy. Sweet, fluffy, and addicting but totally ridiculous and unbelievable.
This book made me so sad! This one focused on the hard times for Talon and Temperance, but it was so important to their story! I loved Temperance’s loyalty to her family even though she has been separated from them! I love how she is able to make new friends where ever she goes and how she stands up for herself. I’m so ready for the next book!
This was the hardest read for me out of the trilogy because you felt Temperance’s pain! What lengths she went to protect her family. I was shocked at the length of time that passes in the book which highlights the pain that the main characters went through.
This second installment just frustrated me. She went from being 20 at the beginning of the book to 36?!?! She was in hiding for 16 years?!?! And the whole book is like a loop. She wakes up sad, stress cooks, goes to telephone her friend, goes home sad, wakes up at 3am to drink some vodka, gets a new doctoral concentration. START LOOP AGAIN.
