Life is closing in on all sides and Draco Malfoy is drowning in expectations. Something has to give. A chance encounter with Hermione Granger infuses his life with something new―but she doesn’t even remember her own name.

“Adrift“ was my first fanfic that felt like it was written by a professional fanfic writer. The story development and editing was of impressively high quality.
I was very surprised by how much I liked this book and the ending especially. It’s a true slow burn, not action packed but focused on emotional development and the trust that builds Draco and Hermione‘s relationship.
While being told from Draco’s perspective, this book stood out to me for its portrayal of Hermione, all the little details and quirks that make Hermione, Hermione. Though Adrift’s Hermione starts out lost, she never evades her unique and veracious intellect and potential.
Another thing that impressed me: the end of the book beautifully emphasized the despair and pain Hermione had to endure as a consequence for the decisions she made during and following the war (a detail that is often brushed over in other fics).
And lastly: This is also the first Dramione fanfic that made me want to read the story it from Harry‘s perspective!
Absolutely no words. I was prepared for angst but this fic was utterly amazing. Draco meeting Hermione, her not having any memories, getting to know each other, building a relationship, revelations, emotions, healing journey, family, friends, side plot, remembering, and love. I loved the journey this fic took me on.
I actually really enjoyed this one, I loved the plot and really enjoyed the writing style. I wish I knew a little more about what happened to Hermione with the memory charm and why she did what she did, but I thought this one was really well done. The spice was really nice too!

It started off really well. I loved the tension and angst between D and H while she didn't have her memories. I also loved the intimacy between D and H even in the beginning. Then, D fell for her because she was...nice to him? It was too quick and too, idk, desperate of D? Plus, all of his self-deprecation throughout the story was getting tedious. And H's hesitancy and sloooooow memory retrieval was tedious. And the repetitive nature of the story and the word choices ("tittering" should only be used 5 times max in a 300+ page story, mkay?) made reading this a slog. Because of these things, I started skimming around the 30-40% mark.
I found several completed Dramione fics that I was considering reading, and while do plan to get to them eventually, I decided to keep looking and that’s when I came across Adrift. I liked the summary and I was really intrigued with Hermione’s memories being gone, so I had made up my mind that I was going to read it and then when I saw that the author went by In_Dreams, it just solidified me picking this up because that’s one of my favorite Roy Orbison songs and that might sound silly, but it was more than enough for me! Anyways, I started reading and I really enjoyed it. It made me tear up, made my heart ache, and I felt so much for Draco and Hermione and everything they went through. They went through a tough time, but I’m so glad that they found one another, were supportive and completely there for each other, and that they’re living their best life together and in love. Adrift was an excellent fic and I think I’ll check In_Dreams’ War AU out some time in the future.
Absolutely beautiful! Amazing story, easily one of my favorite Draco, love the background of how Hermione lost her memories as well as Harry. It was a roller coaster of emotions but so beautiful!
It's been a while since I read, but I rated 5 stars so I must have loved it. Memory loss fics are my favorite, but this one is so different than the goat, Wait and Hope.
Summary: Hermione has been missing for years when Draco stumbles upon her at a muggle cafe. He realizes that she has no memories of him or her old life and they start dating. Draco finally tells Harry that he found Hermione and together they start trying to regain her memories.
Also, Draco's life is literally falling apart. His dad is in Azkaban and actively trying to revive the Death Eaters and his mom is dying from some blood curse and his boss hates him. On top of the fact that his girlfriend doesn't remember their childhood. It's rough for Draco.

I loved Hermione’s story arch and I feel like this story really takes all of Hermione’s situation after the war into consideration. I didn’t relate to Draco’s storyline as much- it was too many unexplained just shit things happening to him without much real emotional payoff (or explanation??). Also there was one smaller reveal I kept waiting for at the end that didn’t come- which has left me salty. I need all the reveals! I’ve spent too long invested in this story waiting for everything to make sense. ASIDE FROM THAT this story is lovely.
