Die junge, couragierte Anne von Seydlitz ist der Verzweiflung nahe, als ihr Mann, ein Münchner Kunsthändler, bei einem mysteriösen Autounfall ums Leben kommt. A secret manuscript that can overthrow the Church, but which instead kills another individual here and there. Secret organizations, but also monastic orders that fight to get it. Not a new topic. The tone is historical, sometimes breaking whole narrative segments and compressing them into a few neutral lines. Which wouldn't be bad if it was a stylistic alternation. The first chapters are full of an irony that sometimes curls the parody and the grotesque. I would have liked the author to continue in this tone. This would have balanced the dull storytelling style. Some interesting characters, such as Professor Vossius, about to commit suicide and destroy a painting by Leonardo because of cultural feelings (completed of course with some "discoveries" to match). He would not have ruined more details from his youth when he found a copy of the "Divine Comedy" that marked his destiny.

Terminado. Muy buena historia, con intriga y conspiraciones. He estado dudando si darle 3 o 4 estrellas y al final me decidí por 4 porque me ha gustado mucho y el problema ha sido mío que tenía en mente Africanus. Muy recomendable.

Klassieke relithriller die weliswaar begint met een grote fout: het schilderij "Madonna in de rozenhaag" is helemaal niet van de hand van Leonardo Da Vinci, maar van Duits tijdgenoot Martin Schongauer.
Ik begrijp dat dit fictie is, maar als auteur streef je toch geloofwaardigheid na. En zo'n fout maken haalt die geloofwaardigheid al van bij het begin helemaal onderuit. Onbegrijpelijk.
Verder is het plotwerk degelijk en onderhoudend en maakt de auteur niet de fout om er te veel bijbelse literatuur bij te halen, zodat het spannende draadje alle ruimte krijgt om te floreren.

Мабуть вперше в житті, перегорнувши останню сторінку книги одного з улюблених письменників, мене охопили настільки суперечливі почуття, адже цей, без сумніву, цікавий роман ставить ще більше запитань, на які важко дати однозначні відповіді. А якщо і знайдеться сміливець, який наважиться їх шукати, то всі його спроби домогтися істини виглядатимуть, як абсурд, чи, навіть, божевілля!. З першого погляду у читача складається враження, що перед ним тривіальний детектив. Молода жінка, дружина антиквара, Анна Зейдліц прагне дізнатися причину смерті свого чоловіка, Гвідо, який загинув в автомобільній катастрофі за дуже загадкових обставин. Спочатку Анна підозрює, що чоловік зраджував їй, оскільки в ту фатальну пору з ним у машині була інша жінка. Прийшовши подивитись на місце катастрофи, яка назавжди змінила її життя, охоплена розпачем жінка отримує від поліцейського портфель чоловіка, де знаходить фотоплівку зі знімком старовинного пергаменту із текстом коптською мовою. Незабаром вона розуміє, що з рукописом пов’язана певна таємниця, що здатна змінити світ, оскільки за оригінал їй пропонують один мільйон доларів США!. За нею стежать невідомі люди, її лякає навіть дзвінок телефону у власній квартирі, бо у слухавці погрожують фізичною розправою, якщо вона не віддасть загадкового документу.
У пошуках зниклого пергаменту героїня вирушає до Парижу, де професор Фосіус, викладач компаративістики одного з американських університетів, здійснює, ніби цілком безглуздий, замах на цінну картину Леонардо да Вінчі «Мадонна в гроті», обливши її кислотою…. Яку саме таємницю прагнув передати нащадкам видатний майстер живопису?, чому професора, який зізнався у скоєному злочині запроторюють до психіатричної лікарні, але водночас дуже бояться, щоб він не розповів відому йому істину?, чому за шматок старовинного паперу здатні на вбивство загадкові представники наукової еліти, які заснували таємний орден на острові Лейбетра, розташований десь на півночі Греції?, адже високоповажні священнослужителі Ватикану понад усе бажають першими отримати таємничий пергамент…. Саме так напружено і невгамовно працює натхненна думка читача, заохочена до пошуків відгадки сюжету талановито виписаного майстерним пером Філіпа Ванденберга.
Не варто передчасно розкривати усі таємниці цієї неперевершеної книги і позбавляти насолоди справжніх поціновувачів інтелектуального словесного мистецтва. Приємно вражає якісний, прекрасний переклад російською мовою, над яким працював для харківського видавництва «Книжковий клуб сімейного дозвілля» Олексій Андрейченко.
З певністю можна стверджувати, що кожен хто читатиме саме цей твір Філіпа Ванденберга, робитиме власні висновки залежно від того, як сприйматиме цю суперечливу але надзвичайно вдало написану та перекладену книгу.

Cuando comunican a Anne la repentina muerte de su marido en un accidente de tráfico, los acontecimientos se aceleran y, casi sin ser consciente de ello, se ve envuelta en una batalla para conseguir un manuscrito copto que parece contener unas asombrosas revelaciones sobre los Evangelios. Es así como la protagonista correrá grandes riesgos y vivirá experiencias estremecedoras que demostrarán que la lucha entre distintas fuerzas por ese papiro será más importante que cualquier vida humana.

Creo que tener expectativas con un libro y que estas se cumplan es maravilloso, pero aún lo es más si no las tienes y el libro te sorprende y te atrapa hasta la última página. No sé por qué, antes de empezarlo no pensaba que me fuera a gustar, pero me he llevado una grata sorpresa. La trama engancha de principio a fin y, a mi parecer, la historia está muy bien construida y los acontecimientos que el autor va hilando están narrados de tal forma que son totalmente verosímiles, hasta el punto de hacernos dudar si lo que narra será algo verídico pero ocultado por los intereses de las grandes esferas.

Es un libro de los que no puedes soltar hasta acabarlo, y además, da lugar a la reflexión y te deja cavilando y conjeturando mucho tiempo después de leerlo. Hay muchos giros inesperados y la evolución de la protagonista se observa muy bien a lo largo de la novela. En definitiva, si estáis buscando una historia que os enganche, creo que esta puede ser una muy buena opción.

El libro me ha parecido interesante, no extraordinario, pero sí entretenido. Te mantiene enganchado en algunos momentos. Creo que está bien documentado y aunque sea una fantasía, muchas de las intrigas que se cuentan deben ser cercanas a la realidad. Quizás demasiados cambios de ritmo, con pasajes demasiado comprimidos en el tiempo, y otros excesivamente alargados para mi gusto. En la parte del final (los últimos capítulos) gana bastantes enteros.
Lo dicho, no es una obra de arte pero es fácil y proporciona una lectura agradable.

Personally, despite being an entertaining and in some aspects involving story, the actions and events sometimes feel somewhat forced and unreal, but from the point of view of its protagonist who has never been involved in similar situations, such as reaching almost hidden places and just because, going beyond reasonable limits without justification on the part of its author

Thriller z teorią spiskową w tle. Jest tajna organizacja o niewyobrażalnych funduszach i władzy, zdeklarowany wróg Kościoła Katolickiego, jest wiedza dla wtajemniczonych, której posiadanie odmienia życie lub go pozbawia, jest też sporo dawki faktów z biblistyki i historii religii. Trochę na styl Dana Browna, tylko słabsza. Osobę niezaznajomioną z treścią Biblii taka mnogość cytatów i odniesień może przytłoczyć, może też zachwycić. Pomijając drobne błędy rzeczowe (może to kwestia tłumaczenia), zdumiało mnie to, że bohaterowie powieści, specjaliści z zakresu biblistyki, zachłystują się i robią wielkie oczy na fakty raczej nienależące do rewelacji i będące wiedzą powszechną w tym temacie. Dziwiło mnie, że znalezienie kolejnego gnostyckiego tekstu koptyjskiego miałoby wywrócić w posadach katolicyzm, skoro jest takich tekstów na pęczki i nikt nie rwie sobie z tego powodu włosów. Przy czym różnorodność koncepcji alternatywnych do ogólnie akceptowalnej historii początków chrześcijaństwa jest naprawdę przebogata.

Super unterhaltsam und fesselnd. Schade, dass es etwas abrupt und plötzlich endet, aber trotzdem sehr gut. Interessantes Detail: Das Buch stammt von 1993 und *Der Da Vinci Code* wurde erst 2003 veröffentlicht – die Geschichte hat Dan Brown ganz sicher beeinflusst.

Novela de intriga y de conspiración: cuando uno lee este tipo de novelas, se da uno cuenta de dónde los grandes Best Seller contemporáneos han basado sus argumentos. BUENÍSIMA novela de secretos, intrigas, supuestos misterios históricos, grupos de científicos obsesos por el saber y el poder que trae consigo, grandes instituciones que ven en riesgo sus privilegios, aventuras, algunos toques de romance pero eso si muchas dudas y cuestiones, esto es bueno porque la novela cumple con los tres finales de todo texto, creo yo, hacer pensar, sentir, e imaginar. El quinto evangelio es, según la novela, un texto prístino anterior a los evangelios canónicos, pero cuyo autor es en verdad la roca que derribaría a la torre. Si bien en ocasiones pudiéramos creer que el autor cae en incoherencias históricas, esta posibilidad que plantea el autor tanto como novelista o como historiador del arte, es factible y supo combinar muy bien la ficción con retazos históricos creíbles.
