As Mercy deals with the influx of survivors, hard choices must be made all while a sinister presence draws ever closer in Flashpoint Book 3.... Half of the earth's population has been wiped out. Impossible to predict or stop, the Gamma Ray Burst tore through the Earth like a bullet, its radiation wave killing hundreds of millions and the aftereffects ensuring the deaths of billions more. Now, as the world crumbles around them, a ragtag group of survivors make for the only home they know - the small town of Mercy. Spared the worst of the GRB's effects, the town is isolated, safe and self-sufficient - for now. The flash hasn't just decimated the Earth's population, though. It's brought out the worst in many of those who are still alive. Survival in this new world doesn't just depend on preparedness - it depends on strength. *****It's the one disaster no one can plan for. A rogue cosmic event called a Gamma Ray Burst, sending a spike of radiation through the earth like a .50 caliber bullet through a ripe watermelon. It's speculated that such an event hit the Earth at some point in the past, causing a mass extinction event. With two potential sources for a GRB pointed directly at our heads, the chances of another one happening in our lifetime is remote... but still possible. In Flashpoint, we explore such an event and the havoc it would wreak across the entire planet. From destroying our atmosphere to millions dying from incredibly painful radiation exposure, a GRB would be unpredictable and unavoidable for everyone, rich and poor, prepared and unprepared alike. Flashpoint is a six-book miniseries-like event, written by Tara Ellis and #1 best-selling post-apocalyptic author Mike Kraus. This thrilling post-apocalyptic survival series will have you second-guessing the very nature of post-apocalyptic disaster scenarios and leave you breathless with every turn of the page.

As Ethan and his dad, Tom, along with Danny, Sam and their labrador Grace, continued their slow journey to Mercy, danger loomed in their path. Ethan and his dad had just found one another again after Ethan was kidnapped; now, as they made their way from the fire front on horseback, Sam had gone back for Grace and inhaled a lot of smoke. When the roadblock showed ahead, they scoped it out first. It seemed America's military had stepped in to help civilians - Sam needed medication; they'd be okay wouldn't they? But first they were put in quarantine for twenty four hours, then they were separated and Tom was arrested...
Meanwhile Mercy's mayor, Patty and her husband Caleb, were struggling. Needing to work out getting the town water, as well as food, and not having strangers straggling into the town, they decided on a road block. But little did they know a predator was getting closer...
Fallout is #3 in the Flashpoint series by Tara Ellis and Mike Kraus and I enjoyed it very much. A mini series, broken up into six books, I've loved the first three, and can't wait for the next. The Gamma Ray Burst which had hit earth and killed millions, had left a decimated country where people were lucky if they survived. Following some of those survivors and what they do to stay alive, is amazing. But along with good people, there are bad - very bad. Highly recommended.
This series is still my favourite. This one adds a lot more in the way of intrigue and hidden agendas. Not everyone is as they seem. So many questions remain on closing the book that I’m desperate for number 4!
I’m enjoying these books by Tara Ellis. Storyline keeps me intrigued and looking forward to the next book. I like the broad scope of the characters too. Self sacrificing leaders in Mercy to pure evil on its way. Russel gives me cold chills!
After the gamma ray burst, the small town of Mercy are trying to pull together to make things work, but they have come across some setbacks. The military have took over someone’s farm and hanging around the town, townsfolk are not liking it to much and expect a lot more from their mayor. The military have also taken over another town a s set it up as a FEMA camp, but when Tom, Ethan, Danny and Sam come across the roadblock, they are allowed to enter the camp, but their horses and belongings are taken from them and are now the property of the military. Another interesting story of humanities frailties and the lengths we can go to overcome these, also the evilness that live amongst us. Recommended reading. Enjoyable
The authors write great characters and storylines all on a collision course. I don't know if I made for this kind of reading since I can't wait to get to the next book. I highly recommended this book and series, it is both well written and exciting to read. One of the best books of this genre I have ever read!
This is a new author to me but I found the storytelling very compelling. There are lot of characters and more appear with each book. Intrigue and action fill the pages.
This is a very short book, but still manages to progress the story line a lot. I have come to like a lot of these characters and, of course, it is concerning to see how they will intersect with military bad actors as well as a serial killer. I look forward to book 4.
Exciting continuation of this interesting series by these two fantastic wordsmiths. This third book, kept me from doing almost everything I had planned for the day, I got captivated with it and could not stop reading it, now on ward to the next book in this series...
Well fall out carried the suspense as the other two books. Seemed to finish quickly. Character you will feel a kindred spirit, some feel like famiky, and others that you might want slap up side the head. So keep on reading book three is not the end.
Fallout: Book 3 Post-Apocalyptic Survival Series. Excellent book. The authors never confused me with characters, scenes, story line. The book is not boring. My interest was captured and maintained throughout the entire book and the series so far.
Fallout: Flashpoint Book 3 - a review by Rosemary Kenny
Tom and his son Ethan are finally reunited and they and Danny continue their perilous trek to Mercy, the survivors' stronghold in Tara Ellis and Mike Kraus' Fallout, a short and somewhat more positive episode than in the first two books.
Unfortunately, before they get very far, the trio are trapped by a rogue militia, then held at the FEMA camp, with their 'bug out bag' resources stolen from them. The General and his troops are taking over town's en route to attacking Mercy itself.
Who's Russell and whose side is he on? Who will survive the battle for Mercy's stronghold?
A somewhat more positive episode than in the previous two, that although short, is formidable in reinforcing its message that what happens in Flashpoint is all too real a possibility, if we don't have respect for our planet and each other. Grab your copy today, before it's too late!
2.5 rounded down As previous books, our plucky heroes & heroines in Mercy keep on through disease, water, food & medicine shortages. The cartoonish psychopath decides to become a pastor to make his way into Mercy, and the military/FEMA show cracks in command as they "requisition" & force survivors into camps.
Keeps being interesting and easy to read. There are some tropey character traits that are a bit frustrating (in Tom in particular) but it's not even rough, just room for growth.
The military is giving me 28 Days Later vibes too.
Book 3 in this series was good, not the best but I did enjoy reading everyone’s stories.
In this book now reunited with his son Ethan, Tom travels with Danny and Ethan to Mercy who is trying to rebuild after the GRM by working together.
The Military are starting to take over small towns and setting up shelters as FEMA camps unfortunately for Tom, Danny, Sam and Ethan they stumble upon a camp who puts them into quarantine on arrival. The military take away all their belongings including their horses and lock Tom up after an encounter gone wrong with the man in charge of the camp and Ethan manages to save them.
Fires, smoke inhalation requiring medical treatment induce a small group of followers to seek care at a FEMA shelter. Things aren’t always what they seem. Will the survivors escape the terrible situation?
I like the first and second books. In this book, when the military component ramped up and it became clear where this story was headed, I lost interest and abandoned it.
