Rate this book
Gods and demons are everywhere in the Grand Desolate World.
Jiang Lan finally becomes a disciple of Kunlun Mountain; specifically—the only disciple of the Ninth Summit.
Knowing the dangers outside, he decides to stay hidden in the Ninth Summit’s Netherworld Cave and cultivate in seclusion. With a unique sign-in system unknown to everyone else, Jiang Lan acquires several divine powers, Dharma treasures, and other aids to enhance his cultivation along the way.
His current goal is to keep his actual cultivation level a secret, remain a low-key Kunlun disciple and stay out of harm’s way until he is strong enough to take on any obstacles.
Only when he emerges from his cultivation after some time does his Master bring him an important message: Kunlun has found him a fiancée.

March 2022 Review:

This started off terrible (easy 1 star) but progressively became a 4 star novel. The story eventually has decent plot and depth and the romance is surprisingly good.

This isn’t really a sign-in novel despite the system. It’s barely present and useful beyond the introductory chapters. It has a similar character/story template but much more plot and isn’t as excessively OP.

The one-liners and various other illogical 'cool' things the author has the protagonist do alllmost killed the story for me. The 'reveals extremely sensitive information to enemies before (hopefully!!) killing them' was excessive later on.

Unfortunately the story isn’t entirely translated yet. It’s almost done but there are enough chapters left that I don’t want to MTL it. Maybe I’ll finish it off in a couple weeks-months?

April 2022 Review:

Great ending and lots of epilogue chapters! 5 stars in the end. Still averages to about 4 stars overall.

There were less untranslated chapters than I thought so I was actually able to finish this!

My Girlfriend From Turquoise Pond Requests My Help After My Millennium Seclusion

(English Translated Title)

It's always hard to write reviews on my favorite reads. But I'll try to gather my thoughts as much as possible.

It took me four days to finish this novel. It was long as hell. And I couldn't put it down. It was so addicting that I had to force myself to eat and sleep on time and even then I only got 3-4 hours of sleep each day. Thank God, it's finished now.

I enjoyed myself immensely during my read. And after finishing this novel, there was a moment of grief because I wouldn't able to experience this novel for the first time anymore.

The title can be kind of misleading. But trust me, this novel is sooo worth it.

This is a typical chinese xianxia cultivation novel with a MMC who levels up step by step and then stands on the top of the world. But there are some differences which are the most attractive points of this novel in my opinion,

● The biggest selling point for this novel may be the fact that it has a main female love interest for the ML. Most of the time, in these kind of cultivation novels, either the male lead has no love interest or he has a harem of three thousand beauties, he is either celibate or lustful.

But our ML, Jiang Lan, is completely different in this aspect. He has an arranged fiance and falls in love with her later. There is never the issue of infidelity either. Though the romance is slow burn as fvck, the chemistry and bond between the leads is palpable.

● The Male leads in cultivation novels are often arrogant and OP. Jiang Lan is neither. He is cautious practically throughout the whole novel. Though there are some small face-slapping incidents for our readers' enjoyment here and there, Jiang Lan remained humble and careful throughout. He is the epitome of zen mindset. I liked this a lot.

● Except the shinning main character, the other characters become straight cannon fodders whose existence is like ants in front of the "almighty" MC.

However, we see so many 3D side characters here with their own quirks.

▪︎ Eighth Prince, Ao Man, was my favorite. He was the sunshine golden retriever. He really isn't suitable for giving relationship advice🤣🤣🤣

▪︎ Speaking of which, the alcoholic Ao Ye and the pixiu are the best frenemies.

▪︎ Lu Jian is truly a mad dog. There're also Bei Feng, Lin An, Hong Luan, Lin Siya.

▪︎ The vegetative egg and udumbara flower gave a big surprise at the finale. I mean, I was kind of expecting it, but it still caught me off-guard.

▪︎ Imperial Lord Youdu was the comedian of the bunch. My belly is still aching from his antics😆😆😆

▪︎ Qing Mu nearly made me cry. His strong faith and will were commendable.

▪︎ I kind of feel bad for Chen Xi. Her possible romance with Zhu Qing is terribly unfortunate if you think about it. Her case reminded me of another novel, The Promotional Record of the Crown Princess, iykyk.

▪︎ At least, there was some conclusion to the arc between Mo Zhendong and Miao Yue. They gave me the vibe of simple but omnipotent senior brother x scheming but persistent junior sister.

Miao Yue, herself, was kind of a queen. She slayed whenever her scenes came up.

● The climax really made me cry. The despair and emotions written in that part blew my mind. Thank God that it wasn't a tragedy. I would've chucked my phone across the room otherwise. The Epilogue left me wanting for more though.

The main characters, Jiang Lan and Ao Longyu, were constructed beautifully. Their transition from strangers to becoming the closest person to one another was an enjoyable journey. Jiang Lan is the top student expressionless nerd and Ao Longyu is the lively and innocent sunshine who always supports him. Both of them were indispensable for each other and it was evident.

Definitely going to reread this novel. It also going to be one of my favorite historical martial arts cultivation novel of all time.
