Many of us have dreamed of becoming dragons. This story shows us the ups, downs, and consequences of what would happen if those dreams came true one day.
Dragon Dreams is an emotional ride. All too many times I felt like crying due to certain story-beats, relatable themes, and everything the main character was going through. On top of a creative take on dragons, the well realized characters, the world-building, and an intriguing antagonist who isn't what he seems, this is easily one of the better dragon stories I've read in recent memory.
Despite my praise and how much I personally enjoyed this book, it does have quite a few problems. The ending felt rushed, the surprise villain had absolutely no build-up, a few plot-threads and questions were never resolved, and some of the character interactions, relationships, and reactions to everything were either rushed, didn't make sense, or didn't feel realistic.
Still, in the end this was an amazing original dragon story, and one that I will definitely be re-visiting in the future. I kind of hope there will be a sequel, if only to get some answers and conclusions to the loose plot-threads.
