Beneficial tips throughout this book. With an easy-to-use Table of Contents, you can quickly jump to the topic you need help with—Yes, I know this sentence ends with a preposition. But I did it on purpose because this is just one of the many things Grammar Tips & Tools teaches you. Lynn Miclea has done a fantastic job explaining commonly confused words and provides many great grammar tips. I loved spending a few hours refreshing my mind for those few things I’ve forgotten over the years—OK, you got me. I forgot a lot, as it’s been a year since I published my memoir. Thanks for writing this exceptional book, Lynn. I’ll use them for my next book.
I bought this book for one of my grandchildren but decided to look through it myself first. It is a great little book for those wanting simple tips on grammar. Although not in-depth, it is useful for quick reference.
Every student can benefit from this easy and enjoyable guide to grammar,. English learners will find it especially useful and easy to understand. The book covers parts of speech; verb tenses and the subjunctive; punctuation; writing advice; misused or mixed up words including homonyms, homophones and homographs; plus terms for animal groups; capitonyms, contronyms and kangaroo words (categories that were new to me!) I especially liked that for each category there was a summary chart. For writers there is an invaluable chart of alternatives for overused words.
Good, very brief guide. Good reminders for writers. I recommend to my graduate students who have difficulties with small errors that undermine the message in their writing. For students with more fundamental deficits (e.g., lack of subject-verb agreement), I would recommend a different resource.
This book as a gift would be suitable for third graders easily, and they will use it into adulthood. I have never seen an easier to learn format, and you can look at it on Kindle Unlimited. Order it for everyone, no one is too old for this book.
This is a must-have guide to keep on your writing desk. It's precise, to the point, and clearly laid out. You can find what you're looking for in a flash—well done Lynn Miclea. I need to order the paperback. Marlene Cheng--author.
Keep this one next to the keyboard, it's an awesome easy to use reference for the blonde senior moments I have when deep in mid-story mode. You won't regret it!
