Wild Romance Saga #6

Chasing Love: Ryder

Rate this book
How do you gain someone’s trust when their faith has been destroyed by those who came before you?

My intentions toward Erin Wild were always pure. But it turned out that if screwing up was an art form, I’d be the next Picasso. I didn't know how to get things right between us.

She was the woman I'd been waiting for. But jealousy, trust and her past pain has been a source of constant conflict between us.

Yet, we hung in there, chipping away at the barriers to our happiness, because I adored her and believed in us.

The course of true love never runs smooth—this quote has been my mantra during the previous four months. But when Erin is faced with our biggest challenge to date, will she have the faith to accept a past that can’t be changed to finally meet me half way?

Kelly Shandwick writes emotional contemporary romance with angst, heart and heat.

She enjoys writing love stories that take place in America for characters who deserve second chances. These characters have flaws and real-life issues, but their stories have that element of escapism we all love in a book. When Kelly isn’t writing, she’s much in demand by her six-year-old granddaughter, who insists her grandma can do anything. At the time of writing, she has requested Kelly teach her how to do the splits, juggle, and to play the violin… all of which Kelly has no particular talent for. Her granddaughter insists Kelly is her superhero and can overcome these minor hurdles.

I enjoyed reading Chasing Love Ryder. I love that this book continues Erin and Ryder’s story but now told from Ryder’s perspective. At the end of Erin’s book their lives had changed drastically and this was mainly the result of an unexpected phone call to Ryder. I therefore found it to be the perfect time for the author to switch for us to hear Ryder’s POV.

Ryder and Erin have so much to work through in this second part of their journey. I completely understood the reasons behind their reactions to everything that they were facing, and I loved the maturity that Erin showed during certain scenes – Ryder too once he realised what he could and perhaps should have done differently.

I love the support that families and friends give to Erin and Ryder. This second book cemented my love for Josh. All the characters added to the storyline – which I loved.

I award Ryder’s story 4 stars. I found I was a little less emotionally affected reading this second part of the duet than during the first, but I enjoyed the book, and I now cannot wait for Josh’s story to be released in 2022.

There are always two sides to a story and after Erin’s book, I really needed to have Ryder’s, as his inability to communicate with Erin was very frustrating and did not cast him in a good light.

Having some distance between him and Erin gave some much needed time for reflection for Ryder. He wasn’t a bad man, in fact he was a very kind soul, simply a little inarticulate. I was pleased that ultimately recognising and working on that part of his personality made for much better relationships with those around him. I loved how Erin didn’t make things easy for Ryder, quite rightly in my opinion. She made him work hard for a place in her life and I totally admired her and her strong sense of self worth. Ryder received several knock backs, yet he persisted in fighting for them as a couple. He was determined to make Erin see his true feelings and what was in his heart.

A lot of soul searching leads to one angsty, yet realistic, read. This author really brought this couple to life and made me feel all the highs and lows along with them.

Ryder is fighting hard to get Erin just to hear him out. This story is emotional, intense and angsty, but it also has some really sweet bits and a bit of humour. Wonderful characters even though sometimes one or two make you want to scream. Ryder in the previous books was slightly misunderstood and judged lacking, he didn't come across in a good way where Erin and the way he treated her was concerned. But as with Tricia you need this book and his POV. It all becomes much clearer that the main issue was communication, he is just not good at voicing his feelings or intentions very well, never has been. Also jealousy and the friendships or work colleagues that push boundaries and cause said jealousy, I could understand both sides but one can't argue the point and then do the same thing on a far more intimate level. I had been patiently waiting for this because I had a feeling there was more going on with Ryder than we had gotten so far, it was well worth the wait and I really loved Ryder and his strength to do right despite the painful repercussions. He is a good guy and this ends with a joyous HEA.

The end of Erin’s book, leaves you with a very mixed view of whether Ryder deserves that second chance, but Erin’s book certainly has you wanting nothing but the very best for her.
But second chances come around for a reason, and Ryder is so keen to right any wrong doings that he has to take decisions, that for the first time in life doesn’t put him front and centre of everything.
Erin goes so much from book one, and watching the two of them grow together is wonderful to read.
A perfect book 2

Such a great romance!!!

Once again with this second book in Ryder and Erin’s duet, I am telling you how much I am loving this layout of the WILD ROMANCE SAGA and it’s two book, two separate POV’s each from our main characters. In the first one, we heard ERIN’s POV and now in RYDER, we hear his side of the story. Again, not just a rehash of the same, but epically different as we see Ryder struggle to first convince Erin how much he loves and adores her, but recover from his monumental mistake in the apparent abandonment of her and their relationship. He’d assumed she understood how much he felt about her, assumed she was secure in understanding his job as a male model in an often half-dressed world, and assumed she would understood his cryptic statements to her when he was faced with a critical and life-changing situation that instead imploded their world. He assumed his level of communication was adequate.

Sorry Ryder, not so, and he fell hard on the sword of his mistakes.

A well know political scientist once said that ‘assumption is the mother of all scr3w ups’ and not only did Ryder turn that into an art form according to his own assessment, he really didn’t understand quite the mess he’d left behind when he departed to sort things out, nor did he realise what an explosive situation he’d be walking into!!!

On her part, it was Erin’s own past hurts that skew-whiffed her view of Ryder’s actions and she soon learned the cost of ‘acting in haste and repenting at leisure’ and had to evaluate the damage that pride does to a relationship. Her situation was also one of intense heart-break and brought me to tears.

Both of our main characters had a lot of personal lessons to learn, communication to one another, and understanding of the other’s POV to develop. While each had their own amazing support network, Erin had one best male friend who acted like a stalwart barrier to the saving of their potential relationship and I quickly tired of his character. That being said, I’m pretty sure it’s him who’s book is coming next, although I’d really love to see him miss out on a happy romantic conclusion for sure. But, Ms Shandwick did go a long way towards redeeming his behaviour in the end.

Both Ryder and Erin were each beautiful characters and I loved how they each grew into their new roles. This is what romance is made of. 5-romantic-loving-Stars 🖤💛

Ryder's emotional story

OMG, I loved, loved, loved this book. CHASING LOVE: RYDER is the continuing story of Ryder Goodwin and Erin Foley. This time it's told from Ryder's perspective, and we get the explanation for the events after the phone call that changed everything. We get to see the inner workings of Ryder's thinking processes. It changed my opinion of Ryder for the better, he was a man whose heart was shattered with the decisions he had to make.

After the closing events of Chasing Love: Erin, both Ryder and Erin had a lot of thinking to do. It was obvious that he loved her with everything in his heart and was willing to fight for her, but would she be willing to listen to him and understand why he reacted to the news in the manner he did? Ryder is not the best at communicating, but the time he spent in California and on his return to New York, made him realise that he needed to explain everything that had occurred and why he reacted as he did, even if it meant losing Erin forever.

While Ryder was continually trying to look to the future, Erin appeared to be locked to her past and the hurts she had suffered. It wasn't until Ryder was able to fully disclose everything and a joint trip to California that she was truly able to open her heart to him. She finally saw him for the man he was, open, honest, and a man who would do anything for her.

Kelly Shandwick has presented a deeply emotional, heartbreaking story, but one where strength and fight were important traits in a person, as were acceptance and forgiveness. Ryder and Erin faced many obstacles on their journey to happiness, but they were required for both of them to grow, both in maturity and in love. I loved that their families rallied around them with their strength, support, and love. Erin's best friend Josh, he was a hard one, in the first book I liked him, but in this one he really grated on my nerves. I know he only wanted what was best for Erin, but he came across as being possessive, however he did redeem himself.

FINDING LOVE: RYDER was a beautiful, emotional story that touched every corner of my heart.

The story of Erin and Ryder continues, I love how determined Ryder is for this second chance he has. I really enjoyed this emotional rollercoaster. Erin and Poppy are amazing characters. They both deserved this story. I loved reading Ryder's POV it gave it such an interesting twist of perception. Great ending to a beautiful story. Looking forward to Josh's story.

A second chance he said, but does he deserve one ?

One minute Ryder is whispering his love to Erin and in the next he disappears.
I'd like to hear what he has to say, because he seemed pretty genuine to me.

As this is Ryder's story we get to know the real man. He may be a model, that lives the
jet set lifestyle surrounded by pretty and petty people but he is not a happy man.

At times I thought he was immature, gullible, too kind, but I realised that only those people close to him really knew Ryder the man. The more I read the more I liked him.

An unexpected event catapults Ryder into maturity in an instant, he really has to juggle his feelings for Erin and his current situation. I want to say that Kelly Shandwick really, really knows how to put into words feelings of desperation, sense of loss, deep love and genuine intimacy.

You really need to find out how Ryder tells Erin all about Kendall, and Poppy and Melissa.
What a mess, and not forgetting his intense feelings for Josh, who he hates but Erin loves.

This story is a real labour of love, working tirelessly for the chance to bring together all the people that you love, despite all of life's obstacles. The more he got knocked back the more he persevered and pushed for his hea.
A beautifully written, heartfelt story from a male pov.

After the way the previous book from Erin's pov finished I was really looking forward to Ryder's. He hadn't been portrayed in his best light so I wanted his side of the story as I knew there was so much more to him than we'd seen.

After the shocks and heartache in the previous book, I knew there'd be some tough conversations and soul searching ahead for both Ryder and Erin and I was right! I loved hearing Ryders side, he truly was trying to do the right thing but didn't fully account for Erin and her insecurities. He didn't always go about things the right way but everything he did was from the heart.

It was an emotional, heartfelt story about two people with magnetic chemistry who clearly loved each other, learning to overcome their mistakes, fears, insecurities, trust issues and being honest, open, forgiving and understanding. With a sweet little girl in the mix too, a few tears,  chuckles and swoons, I really enjoyed reading their rollercoaster journey.

Now I'm hoping Josh will get a story, he was an amazingly loyal friend to Erin and he is definitely a sexy, mysterious and intriguing character I'd love to see more of. Fingers and toes crossed as I don't want to let go of any of the Wild family!

Chasing Love, Ryder's POV was written well. The turmoil and emotion felt by Erin in the first part of this story captivated me to their story. Once you realise what Ryder endured whilst in California, it shows he acted in a way any man would when a child is involved. The trouble with Ryder was his immaturity in how to handle his relationship with Erin and his lack of communication skills that led to their loves demise.
He now had his work cut out for him to win back Erin's love after he shattered her heart. Josh, being a great friend and support to Erin causes issues between Erin and Ryder, as jealousy rears its head, as Ryder thinks Erin has moved on.
There are more twists to the story that keep you turning the pages. I enjoyed Ryder's POV and sympathised with Ryder, and was glad he had a hard battle on his hands and Erin made him work to prove he still loved her and wanted her in his life with his daughter.
A great conclusion to their story. Well worth 5 stars.

Another wonderful addition to the Wild Romance Saga and this time we get to know the man desperate for Erin’s love. This is Ryder’s story.
From the moment I picked this emotional and angsty journey I knew I was in for an emotional roller coaster that was going to take over my life.
I was desperate to see if Ryder would win the love of his life and I needed Erin to find happiness as well but would that be together…

If you are looking for a beautifully written saga that will keep you on the edge of your seat, I’ll have you falling hard and fast for the families and their partners look no further than the Wild Romance Saga. This series has got better with each release and it’s got to the point where I’m wondering how Kelly Shandwick can top this one.

What a beautiful conclusion to Erin and Ryder's story. This one definitely had me on an emotional rollercoaster.
As you can probably guess from the title this is told from Ryder's pov and Erin's book must be read first.
Ryder is doing all he can just to get Erin to hear him out, he knows he handled things wrong when he left her but at the time he thought he was doing the right thing. Lots has happened since they have been apart and it will be difficult to win back Erin's but will she eventually let him back in.

I have loved read this entire series but Erin and Ryder are definitely my favourite couple. I really hope Josh will get his story in the future too.

Wow, just when I think I have this series figured out!
“Chasing Love: Ryder” book six in the Wild Romance Saga series by Kelly Shandwick was an amazing read from start to finish, I couldn’t put it down. Ryder’s POV of his and Erin’s story has more twists and turns and heart squeezing moments. Not to mention some pretty heavy emotional topics that the Author portrayed in a truthful and respectful light. I was definitely on a roller coaster ride, feeling all the feels. Ryder and Erin’s chemistry was off the charts hot and led to some delightfully steamy scenes! If you haven’t started this series yet, you must- I highly recommend it!

Ryder knows that how things happened with Erin weren’t the way he would have planned, but she didn’t know what happened when he was away and how quickly he had to make decisions to ensure Poppy’s future was secure.
Now he was back, and nothing was going to stop him from making sure that Erin knows exactly what happened and how important she is and that he wants her in his life.
When Erin says she can see them together, but has conditions, Ryder thinks that everything is lost, but couldn’t be happier with her conditions.
They grow together, learning to communicate more with their love only growing.

With reading Erin's story just before this, I knew there had to be more to the story. Ryder has problems communicating his feelings, and has been judged unfairly in Erin's book. As we all know, there are two sides to every story, and Mrs. Shandwick delivers both sides beautifully. My heart went out to Ryder, the choices he had to make, and the consequences of those actions he had to endure. He knew what he wanted and did the best he could. I am so happy to have stuck with this series. I can't wait for the next two stories.

5 Star Review Chasing Love: Ryder (Wild Romance Saga #6) by Kelly Shandwick
Ryder was a great addition to the Wild Romance saga. Ryder is determined to break through the walls that Erin has surrounded herself with. He knows hat she is the one meant for him but convincing her of that is going to be difficult.

This was an emotional, angsty story that had me on the edge of my seat. Can Erin come to terms with the past with Ryder’s support and move forward? Their journey was rocky, but Ryder preserved and it was heartwarming to watch as their relationship developed.

I loved the continuation of Erin and Ryder’s story and told from Ryder’s perspective. I was really excited to read Ryder’s side of the story as he wasn’t portrayed the best in the previous book. Ryder knows he screwed things up badly between him and Erin, and he’s determined to and do everything possible to make things right between them. Will he be able to win Erin back? Such an amazing story and one I highly recommend.

I enjoyed Ryder and Erin's story. There were many times that I felt Josh would have made a better boyfriend than Ryder. He was incredible friend to Erin. I loved that about him. Ryder was a bit immature at times regarding their friendship. He did however grow a lot in this story. He was a great father to Poppy. The relationship between them grew once, they put all the past behind them. They were commited fully to each other. Beautiful story!

What a way to finish Ryder and Erin’s story!!

The poor heartache ❤️‍🩹 that Erin had been dealing with made Ryder so angry at himself for his actions over ‘letting her down’ BUT he’s back with Poppy and determined to get his ONE TRUE LOVE back….
