For Stubbs MacMurtry, the community college where he teaches biology, the small rural town of Livid, and the surrounding dairy farms, life is about to become - almost literally - a zoo. Uninvited and completely unexpected, several new species of animals will change life in surprising ways. Community college faculty and staff, dairy farmers, state game wardens, and small-town politicos are forced to deal with serious disruptions to their ways of life.
Stubbs and an assortment of friends and soon-to-be friends find camaraderie and hatch solutions over gourmet meals. It seemed only fair to include recipes for many of the dishes the characters enjoy.
Like McGrath’s previous novels, WILD makes a current ecological issue (in this case, "rewilding") the driving force in a novel full of quirky characters and good humor.
