After four years, I’d finally found a place that felt like home: Olympus, the estate that houses The Pantheon and the three men who have stolen my heart.
Now, I’m alone and on the run again. This time I’m not only hiding from the monster who was my tormentor and torturer for two years, I’m also fleeing from the Ares, Vulcan and Hades, desperate to keep them safe.
My plan is simple: stay hidden until Matello Magri is taken care of.
But Ares Sarkellis has a plan too. One that involves capturing me, a ring and some serious forever type vows. A marriage of convenience meant to keep me safe, to offer me the protection of The Pantheon.
With Matello Magri creeping closer, a shadow that will forever follow me, I can’t risk them.
This was fun to read. I still very much love Emmy’s character because she is SO great in calling out the guys on their behaviour when she needs to. I love how the other women are portrayed, particularly Harley. She’s not just a vapid girl who only wants the guys, she’s got a brain and her own values. It’s such a nice change from other books where the other women are sneering mean girls.
I’m looking forward to the final book and the resolution of that cliffhanger!
So, yeah, with most any book there has to be a certain level of suspension of belief. This book just keeps pushing that line further and further. I get we all want this super bad@ss fmc, but when we have a super young, inexperienced, traumatized person, having them basically tell a big bad mob boss what to do and everything else she did in this book, is just way too far. The whole play with Harley was too much. And this is coming froma. Self professed drama wh@re. It felt like this book was filler and written to drag out the suspense. It didn't do that for me, it killed it. So yeah, I won't be moving on to book 3, my journey with this series ends here.
I was disappointed but not overtly so because based off some of the reviews I knew somewhat was I was getting into. It wasn't horrid. But it was annoying and slightly awkward. There were things that seemed prevalent in the first book and shoot the first part of this book then that worry seemed to just magically disappear. Then there's her feelings on things being wishy washy. I liked the FMC somewhat in the first book but in this one she was just a road block that I wish they'd run over. Now the writing was pretty good, there was some errors which was bothersome but you could move on if you wanted to. What had me really skimming was all the sex scenes. They really were excessive which makes me feel weird because I feel I complain in my head about wanting more but unless I'm reading an erotica I don't need THIS much. THEN it really makes me feel weird about this but holy fuck there are so many sex scenes. Like she breathes and boom orgy. They're in the middle of a war but just fucking Willy nilly and it seems I'm the only one thinking of situational awareness...?! Is that just not a thing here? Lets also include how she keeps getting so jealous of Harley but also trying to push them off onto her... Why? So she can get all butthurt and they can console her and then more sex? Cause like I said everything leads to that. She's walking? Boom dicks must be in her. She yawns? Orgy. She's eating? Sex marathon.. So the first book was better thus book makes me wish I was one of those people who could just read the endings of books because I just wanna know what happens at the end of the next with the gangs and whatnot. I don't care for their relationship since it seems somewhat toxic and manipulative on both sides but if that's their spiel good on them. Not my cup of tea to be cheated on threaten the girl but then simultaneously push them together. See wishy washy. Think I got most of my ranting done but if I said more I feel like I'd be spoiling things so ima just stop it here and call it good and say some people will like this.
The plot thickens. Somewhat predictable, but I didn’t mind that so much. The story is still good. These guys though. When they screw up, the do it in a spectacular fashion. It’s a little hard to read sometimes without literally cringing. Because damn. How many horrible decisions can these guys really make when it comes to their woman? She makes some poor decisions too. I do wish there was more groveling on the guy’s parts. Emmy continues to prove she’s a tough cookie and I enjoy her character arc. She struggles sometimes, but she’s been alone (well, with just her mom) a long time, she’s been traumatized, and when it comes to love, we aren’t always rational. So I forgive some of the emotional whiplash she gives us. Oh! And there’s lots of good spice now that they’ve all come together.
One side note, the typos in this are plentiful. I think more so than in the first book. I’m not taking stars away for that, because I enjoyed the story too much. But a proofreader or a good spelling and grammar program would be really useful.
As the story arc progresses, we get to see more of this quad's personalities and interpersonal quirks, as well as relationships. We get to see more development of the characters and greater complexity of the plot.
Not knowing where Emmy is ever really safe or is ever really going to be free of the threat of the Magdri gang lends extra suspense and tension to the story.
I do feel at times though that there may be unnecessary things added in that may bring undue drama or unfinished plot threads to the story. For instance, the tension within the Parthenon OGs and the new school. Will anything come of this intrigue later or is it merely a diversionary tactic meant to confuse the reader. Now that the story ends on a Cliffie, who knows what the next story will bring? I can be sure it will have blood, bullet, and mayhem . . . and be so worth the wait
So I was a bit disappointed that the start of this story lessened the impact of the climax of the previous book. It solved itself a bit to easily for now built up it was. Otherwise, I loved this book. I was easily entranced. The different POV’S, which had the perfect amount of head space for each of the characters. It really built up the characters and made me fall in love with them. That ending sucker punched me, even tho I was expecting it. Can’t wait to read what’s next!
We learn a few tidbits about some of the MMCs but not a ton. I still don’t really feel much connection to them. Tons upon tons of grammatical errors in this book. Misplaced words, missing words, missing contractions. Sentences don’t make sense. It happened in the other two books in this series as well but I felt like this book had so many it made reading tedious. Story is fine still plodding along. Lots of smut in this one (I’m all for the smut when the story is strong) when maybe the story could have used some work.
Beyond the glaring errors in the book this book was just very… childish and over the top drama. The whole thing basically devolved into sex with the three men and no actual romance or relationship beyond sex and pressuring the character into sex when she says no, oh and don’t forget the men getting turned on by everything she does like eating or you know, talking. A lot of potential and no follow through. Will not be reading book three.
I love the story. Very good and very frustrating at times. It has four stars because of grammar and spelling errors. But I will definitely be reading the third book. Give it a shot I bet it will be reading the third one.
Absolutely loved every minute of this book. So much growth. So much drama. So real. Not a fan of some of the plan...but it was well written and developed. Will definitely read the next book.
These books suck you in and I feel like I've been on this insane emotional rollercoaster and when the book ended I had to take a moment to just breathe. This series is all kinds of awesome!!
