Gay. Necromancer. Werewolf. Supervillian. Power bottom.

Silas is all of these and more.

Silas Northstar is an outcast. A wolf shifter without a pack. A hated and feared necromancer, infamous for killing an entire pack. He aspires to become the true supervillain people whisper he is.

He is also an omega. Heat cycles are a fact of life, but he has no problem finding casual fun with humans to satisfy his needs. He can't imagine that ever changing. He doesn't do lonely, and he definitely doesn’t do feelings. He doesn't need an alpha.

Dean Westlake is a happy-go-lucky alpha who is trying his best to settle into his new pack in a new city. The pack's Alpha, George, is an idiot, but Dean is glad to not be alone anymore. Few packs will accept a second alpha, so he knows his choices are limited. He needs to make this work.

The rumors of the city's supervillain sound far-fetched. He's not worried.

Then the Westlake pack captures Silas. That night he goes into heat. Someone has to deal with it.

Dean gets the honor, and the fireworks begin.

The morning light shows Silas has vanished. Everyones says no one can keep Silas Northstar for long.

Dean vows to prove them wrong.

2.75 Stars" Evil Omega" is what I needed in my indecisive moment of reading endless blurbs and being unable to settle on anything.
The Good: Quick, fluff-read, likable MCs, steamy.
I could ramble on all the things that went wrong here, but ultimately, I didn't take it seriously. I accepted that the author introduced some dark, upsetting themes but brushed them off way too quickly and that the world-building was so-so... but it still had heart, and the MC's had chemistry, and the romance was there, so thank you, S.Rodman, this did the trick and shook me out of my book slump. ~

I just love this book! ❤

I’ve just done a re-read, and have been reminded of why I adore it. I’m not usually a huge fan of ABO dynamics, as I really dislike the characterisation of omegas as weak, powerless and vulnerable to misuse by others.

In Evil Omega, S. Rodman has turned the idea of an omega on its head. Silas is smart, powerful, funny and resourceful. He’s been terribly misused in the past by those who ought to have cared for him, and has responded by building his infamy as a form of protection. Silas Northstar is a name to be feared, but is also a scapegoat to be blamed for all the ills in the world.

Dean Westlake is not your typical alpha. He’s kind, mild mannered and nurturing. When Silas and Dean meet the connection is immediate, each finding their complement in the other. In a romance, the most important thing for me is to feel and believe the connection between the main characters, and you get that in abundance in this book. From the instant they meet it is obvious that Silas and Dean belong to each other, and though their journey is difficult, there wasn’t a single second that I doubted that they were a pair.

The times when it is just Silas and Dean are just scrumptious. Their conversations are fluid, they spark off each other’s humour and the way they play is gorgeous. Silas is like a wounded animal, desperate for some love and affection, but fearful of being hurt. Dean has the perfect nature to comfort and reassure Silas, and to provide a solid base for him to cling to. Dean is in no way intimidated by Silas, nor does he have any desire to subjugate him. He admires Silas, is proud of him, and is more than willing to be the supporting act to Silas’ shining star. Their chemistry is electric, and the sex is off-the-scale burning hot!

The content of this book is high for its length, you definitely get good value! The action is fast-paced, the dialogue witty and we end with some beautiful found-family dynamics. I am so delighted that this story is going to be continued in Evilest Omega. I desperately want to spend more time with Silas and Dean, their growing pack, and in this world in general.

I highly recommend it if you're in the mood for shifters, heat sex that is 🔥🔥🔥, healing cuddles, a bit of action, a sprinkling of magic, a load of laughs and finding out how easy it is to herd zombies (not very!)

As always, check the trigger warnings.

4.5 stars. Silas is lethal, feisty, supervillain, a necromancer, a seducer, and an omega. He’s lonely and has a goal, a lethal one.

Dean is quite the opposite, he is everything Silas isn’t. He’s good-humored, mellow, happy to find a pack even though he’s not the pack alpha and the current pack leader is a dumb one. Dean’s dream is to have a pack of his own.

Everyone wants to exterminate Silas, who is elusive. Everyone except Dean.
When Silas meets Dean he used him for his heat, or maybe they used each other. Dean isn’t a threat, he’s kind, Silas doesn’t get it. When his next heat arrives he seeks out Dean who’s happy to help.

With everyone hunting Silas it isn’t easy to be together. Silas is a loner, rude, feisty, and tries hard to discourage Dean. Well, you should know, it’s impossible to discourage him. Dean is head over heels and has a hope Silas likes him too. There are affectionate moments. Dean is one big emotional alpha. Silas is not, he has high walls.

When Dean gets imprisoned no one can help him. Feeling left hurt like a bitch, his heart and soul shattered.

Omg, I loved this story, it’s super sexy and scorching hot, fun, playful, but also painful, with an amount of hurt. Every emotion was hugely palpable, my heart rate increased with it all.

All kinds of magical creatures are present, wolf shifters, mothman, zombies, necromancer, vampires.
It’s a super entertaining, crystal clear outlined story, strongly written, I found it extremely enjoyable.

A must must-read for the ones who love a delightful story with a strong alpha and an even stronger omega. It has the best end you could wish!

Well uh...

This was an ok read. There was something off about the way the words flowed and I just couldn't get past that.

I liked Dean, even if he was rather dim. The evil omega was not real enough to feel anything about. This story would have been so much better if it had dual povs. That way, at least we could figure out what was happening in this relationship cause I just didn't understand how they decided to become a couple? Was it Because of fated mates, instalove, or instasex?

Also, I skimmed through most of this one so take what I say with a grain of salt, but I think if the writing had been sharper and smoother, then this would have been a much better read.

I'm pretty sure gang rape, imprisonment, getting the shit beat out of you on the regular for a year, betrayal from the love of your life, all count as some form of trauma. Where the hell were the symptoms.

And a person with half a brain would have trust issues just reading this let alone experiencing it. I'm sure Silas meant to rescue Dean and all but all that hatred and feelings of betrayal don't just..go away after finding out the truth.

Not even considering all the just ignorantly rude stuff Dean sometimes tells Silas, this book just does not deserve a rating.

Also, the book needs an editor.

"Evil Omega" surprised me. It grew on me: I wasn't overly convinced in the beginning, but by mid-book I couldn't physically put my Kindle down. And by the end I was so sad to be leaving Dean and Silas behind. I adored it.
I'm still not well-versed in all things Omegaverse, but I guess you could describe this book as a somewhat unconventional Omegaverse story: the alpha/omega roles are still very defined, but there are some interesting reversal of roles and expectations and the actual details pertaining the Omegaverse/shifter world are not at all overwhelming, if this is your first dip in this genre.
I really liked both MCs, but although Dean was an absolute sweetheart and I loved seeing him all flustered and insecure and needy towards Silas, Silas was the one that stole my heart. My only complaint is exactly this: I wish we had gotten more of Silas's POVs from the start. I loved his character, his personality, made up by a mix of independence, kickassery and terrifying powers and sweetness, insecurity and fear. His desperate need not to feel so alone was heartbreaking, as his past, and I just wanted him to be safe and healthy. I wish we had gotten much more of him, especially in the beginning.
The world-building is somewhat blurry and I wish the existing relationships between the various different non-human species were a bit more developed, however it was not a huge issue and it won't leave you feeling confused or anything. The side characters were adorable and now I have a desperate wish for a story, or two, about some of them.
If you're looking for a book about a sweetheart alpha and his unconventional, supervillain, necromancer, omega BF, this is the book for you.

Thank you GRR for the ARC. I received it in exchange for an honest review.

Stopped bc of the casual use of rape as an apparent plot mechanism.

1. Opening scene is where the pack leader obviously forces Silas into something. The language surrounding this is immediately strange- Dean and the pack members do not condemn the pack leader at all. At most, Dean acquiesced that it was "dishonorable" and calls the pack head stupid. But doesn't leave. So he's a complicit party of higher authority to a sexual assault in his pack, and that isn't even a deal breaker for him. And why tf did they instantly scramble for a healer?? George deserved what he got.

2. Later on it is heavily implied that Silas is again assaulted by some vampires. Again, the treatment of this incident is so casual. I stopped reading just after the bathroom scene, so if there's more to it, I never saw.

3. How tf can another pack member relay a horrible gang rape to Dean, and again, remain complicit with his pack that treats the victim as some terrible criminal???? Same for Dean???

Even if there is later condemnation of these incidents, that still isn't enough for me. Dean is such a coward for his lack of reactions.

A Joyfully Jay review.

I found Evil Omega a fantastic mix of romance, adventure, and drama. Silas is a terrific main character, strong and self-assured. Cocky, even. He is a survivor who knows how to protect himself and isn’t afraid to call out bullshit when he sees it. But he clearly struggles with trusting others after what his own pack and the Greenwood pack put him through. I loved how he uses his bravado to hide his growing feelings for Dean and how his years of being alone mean he’s not always great at explaining what he’s thinking or planning. Sometimes to his own detriment. I thought these qualities made for a great contrast for the almost goody-goody aspects in Dean.

Fun omegaverse wolf shifter mm romance with lots of smut. I really liked Silas and how he was an unconventional omega, set on being a supervillain as revenge on the world for what he's been through. Will be continuing this series.

2.5 stars. Look, i'm really easy to please. I read for the pleasure and escapism of it. This story had potential to be a really good read, instead it was just eh. The pacing was off for the whole story. Things that i felt more time needed to be spent on where sped through and other stuff that was just a bit of fluff was overly focused on. The characters were interesting, I liked Silas and Dean and I wasn't sure i would. They are actually the only reason i rated it as high as i did. They were engaging, it was all the stuff around them that needed work.

Despite everything Silas has been through he still is loyal to shifters. Hes still helping even though he expects everyone to turn on him, simply because its all hes had for 10 years. Everyone knows what happened to him, but they seem to blame him for it.

Dean is different, he treated Silas humanly. Reminded him that he wasnt just an omega. Respected his boundries, without question. Dean sees Silas for the person and shifter he is. He even respects and accepts all the added abilities.

I hope we see more of these guys. I wasnt ready for the book to end

It was boring with too much narrations and less dialogue between Dean and Silas. Not only that but I just don't like the fact that Silas was captured by Dean's alpha and he forced Silas to give him BJ but thankfully Silas was a badass and can defense himself. Other thing was, I know they were sleeping together with no commitment between them but when I found out Silas "kidnapped" by a vampire and the vampire took sexual advantage of him, not liking it at all. When Dean was in the pit he saw Silas being lovey dovey with Caden. He need to did that in order to saved Dean but still. What I hate the most was Silas' past, gang raped all night long and beaten to death. Like the author stated "I love characters that are battered and broken by life" oh well, I think this will my first and last book of this author.

Lmao there is no reason why I have had this here so long😭✋

I actually enjoyed this quite a bit! It was funny and hot🔥 and there were some pretty sweet moments. The MCs were both likeable and their relationship was basically Dean being a simp for Silas! And I loved that shit😂

After everything that's happened to Silas, this could have actually been darker but I didn't mind! Hopefully I can move on to book 2 some time soon👀

Thoroughly enjoyable necromancer omega and lonely alpha romance.

These aren’t the most deep characters I’ve read, but this book reads like a fluffy action romance so that expectation wasn’t really there for me. It was hot, fun, and entertaining. There was more plot than I thought there would be based off of the initial scenes and I loved it. I’ll definitely read more by this author.

That hit the spot!

Wonderfully fantastic, this is a story about a montrous supervillan. The primal love story is still interesting because it doesn't get either too mushy or deviant, yet these dudes thrive with evil. This is book one, and I'm going to slide right into book two.

This was my favorite book yet by this author.

I really enjoyed the relationship development between Silas and Dean. My heart broke for Silas and the abuse he suffered before he met Dean.

They complemented each other so well, Dean understood that Silas had been abused and needed to come to Dean on his own terms. I loved that Dean (the alpha) let Silas (the omega) be the more dominant instigator between them.

Dean and Silas deserved their HEA and I would recommend their book!

This is the first book that I read from this author and I enjoyed it. Silas is a hated shifter/necromancer as everyone is afraid of his powers. Even with his past, he loves to help out shifters. Dean is an alpha who was alone for a long time but joined up with another pack. Even though he is an alpha, he is laid back. Silas and Dean meet when Silas was captured by Dean’s pack. The way Dean treats Silas is very precious to see. Would love to see who is next in this series.

Here are my thoughts:

1. I didn’t mind this book until the shifters got caught. I started to dislike Silas after he just abandoned everyone.

2. I didn’t like Dean’s easy forgiveness for every bad situation that Silas put him. He was like an overgrown puppy the entire book and that didn’t change even after Silas’ actions left him imprisoned for six months.

3. Even though Dean was imprisoned for months, forced to fight, he was able to shake that trauma off after a day and was happy to be back with Silas even though he had spent the last six months feeling betrayed and abandoned.

4. There’s really no established plot.

5. Most disturbing was the causal use of rape. It was just accepted and glossed over. Silas’ storyline is built around his desire for revenge against the shifters who attacked him when he was young, but he is constantly assaulted throughout the book, and he (and everyone else) is like, “Eh. Sh*t happens.” Where’s the rage for those people?

This was a no. One positive, I liked the shift away from the standard alpha/omega trope.

This book could have been great but I can’t enjoy a book that constantly uses rape as part of the storyline like it’s just a common inconvenience that Silas puts up with not to mention others were forced as well. Why was that necessarily? Then it’s not even really ever addressed - everyone is like oh well

Not awful. I know I write things like that, two word sentences with no subject, in reviews, but I am not a published author. I am not writing things for others to purchase. I also know the difference between a run-on sentence and a sentence fragment. Like this one. Voila! It's very doubtful I'll be reading anything by this author again. What a waste of titles that start with the letter E.

I loved the premise of this story! An evil, badass Omega as opposed to the usual kind and submissive ones. Awesome!

And in many ways, the read did deliver.

So, Silas Northstar is a shifter and a necromancer. Outcast, despised, and feared. He also has a propensity for getting captured and that’s how the story begins. With Silas having been captured by the Westlake Pack, and Dean – a pack alpha – literally dragging Silas off of the pack head Alpha. It’s a strong start to the story, and gets even more interesting when Silas’ heat starts when he’s in Dean’s custody.

The dynamic between Silas and Dean was great. Silas is self-sufficient, stand-offish and prickly – for good reason. Dean is laid back with no need at all to assert any kind of dominance. Instead Silas takes the lead and Dean is happy to follow. Their inherent alpha/omega traits were still there, but didn’t define them as individuals which is almost always the case with ABO stories. And I can’t express how happy that made me. This was a whole new take on shifter/ABO dynamics making the read much more interesting in my eyes.

As Silas and Dean keep circling each other, in some kind of Romeo-and-Juliet-esque kind of way (with which I mean they’re totally into each other but can’t really be together mostly because of Dean’s pack), more of Silas’ backstory is revealed. And – to no one’s surprise – it turns out Silas might not actually be evil.
But there’s the pack to contend with, and all the people who are afraid of Silas.
Anyway. The storyline is interesting, the universe too with all kinds of different paranormal races.

What didn’t really measure up was the storytelling. The writing is strangely paced. Some pivotal scenes are rushed and almost glossed over, while others – scenes that are similar but not crucial to the story – are overly long and detailed. It didn’t really make sense and took away from the overall reading experience. I get the feeling that it’s a patience issue.

I recently read another of Rodman’s books – Omega Alone – but I didn’t realize it was by the same author until checking Rodman out on Goodreads. But I see the same issues with Evil Omega as I did with Omega Alone. Rodman clearly has great stories to tell, she creates interesting characters, interesting plots and universes. But she doesn’t take the time to really expand on her ideas.
Much like a reader might be eager to jump ahead to know what’s going to happen next, I got the feeling Rodman does the same while writing. The result is a book with some very well-written scenes and contexts glued together by shorter, less worked-through scenes. However, it’s obvious the potential is there. And I think if Rodman decides to write a longer story, taking her time doing it, it could be truly awesome.

As it is though, Evil Omega is a fun, short read. 3.5 stars.

Alphabet challenge - E

No contest in this pick. I did have this one flagged as TBR because of the mention of supervillian. Was tossed on the backburner because I'd read too much alpha/omega stuff. I did like it. It was mostly straightforward up until the council getting involved and a strange courtship turns into a prison pit rescue. Silas is powerful. Dean is sweet and the self made pack is interesting, what with the mothman. Mentions of sexual assault and previous forced matings. It's one I'd continue.

Evil Omega is a book that ultimately I’m not sold on. It follows Dean an alpha in the Westlake Pack, and Silas who is also a wolf shifter, but he’s also a mage, specifically a necromancer and an omega.
After being captured by Dean’s pack, the two end up spending Silas’ heat together. There’s then a kind of cat and mouse game where Dean is super into Silas, but Silas doesn’t stick around. The two find each other randomly every few months when Silas runs into trouble with vampires and the council. And every heat, Silas goes back to Dean, even leaving him a fancy knife at one point. Meanwhile, Dean is dealing with a fool for a pack alpha and his unrequited feelings for Silas, who is continuing to be a supervillain in training.

It’s really not clear throughout the entire book what the deal is with alphas, betas and omegas. There are only two omegas in the book, and it’s a huge part of the plot that Silas goes into heat every three months. But it only takes about two rounds for it to go away. Beyond that, there’s really nothing else. There are no pregnancy mentions at all, so what’s the point of heats? I don’t know it felt really weird and totally unneeded. Silas could have just gone back to Dean for sex if he wanted without the heat nonsense and it still would have made sense.

I did enjoy the love story between Silas and Dean, but there’s so much of this that took away from those nice moments. And there were nice moments and some funny ones, like zombies on a bus, but ultimately this wasn’t for me which was a shame because I was really excited for it. The blurb did make it sound fun and exciting, but I didn't get that payoff.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.

I wasn't really sure what to expect from this book. Dean and Silas kind of end up thrown together but they both keep coming back for more. I hated what Dean ended up going through but truthfully never felt that these two had as strong of a connection as they said they did. I would almost like a book seeing the council taken down for the shit they pull, not just them now on the run in a new pack.

reads like a wattpad story posted one chapter per week. i can't really tell you what it's about bc there's no plot. main characters just happen to meet a lot and they happen to fuck a lot. there's also a mothman.
also: naming your character dean and then having him call his love interest "Angel" was certainly.... a choice.
