★★★★★ "Excellent, easily read overview of Yoga, helpful and practical with good illustrations and photos" - Daniel B. Lyle
______________

Imagine someone breathing deeply, calm confidence evident in their eyes, strength in their step, and nimbleness that befits a true athlete. This someone can be you when you develop the Yoga Habit in your life!

And you don't have to be heroically athletic or dedicate many hours of your time. Simply come along with me on this journey of discovery. Discovery of an ancient practice that brings strength, flexibility, balance, calm, and focus. Discovery of your own inner voice and inner quiet, your own deepest breath, and your own connection to this ancient way of tuning the body, mind, and spirit.

♥ The Yoga Habit will show you the way to a yoga practice that is rooted in tradition but relevant to your everyday life.

This book will teach you all you need to know to get in the yoga habit, teaching you all you need to get safely and effectively started, and inspiring you to make yoga part of your regular routine. The process is deceptively simple, yet the benefits will likely astound you.

I will teach you the tenets of the practice, guide you regarding the supplies needed, offer direction about breathing, yoga locks (inner muscles elegantly trained for strength and greater impact of the practice), hand gestures for focus and specific mental benefits, mantras and eye-focus positions that bring a mental and physical presence and discipline, poses that benefit the body in various, well-explained ways, and visualizations that bring peace and calm.

♥ The Yoga Habit includes variations if needed, clear explanations, and several put-together-for-you series that you can use to get started making yoga a habit that changes your life for the better!

It is my honor and pleasure to be your guide towards this beautiful and powerful habit.

“Yoga is a lifestyle and a way of being.”

This is an informative and well-organized manual for those interested in yoga as a beginner. Yoga has always seemed so overwhelming with all the terms and poses that it’s easy to abandon it before it becomes a habit.

This book does a great job explaining what yoga is including information I had never read before. The explanation of the eight limbs of yoga explained how the steps can result in liberation of one’s soul. The most impressive part is the 50 benefits of yoga which are explained although most of the benefits clearly overlap.

There’s a section describing which props are helpful and why. From there the book explains 4 basic poses which includes modifications as well as the benefits of each pose. It goes on further to incorporate these basic poses into more common sequential poses. Another interesting section related to “mudra” or hand yoga poses. They are common gestures we may see without realizing their significance. The section of breathing is especially important with each of the movements.

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to incorporate a yoga habit into their lifestyle. It is explained in a manner easy for a beginner such as myself to understand.

Great book as an intro for beginners. A lot of information as the book goes beyond just the how of Yoga, but also the what and the why.

Comprehensive Guide, Must have for beginners

This is a very comprehensive book for beginners of yoga. 162 pages of pure knowledge. It not only explains in detail all of the benefits of poses but it also offers pictures of poses as well. The book explains the origins and purpose. It also explains the different materials you may need to practice. There is even a section that has photos and pose sequences to follow along.
I can see referencing this book often and I think if you are new to yoga you will also.
