A bit of a mixed bag but overall enjoyable
Parts of this story I really loved, others frustrated me, but overall it was an easy read and entertaining.
Jamie was everything you'd want in a law enforcement officer, a Deputy Marshall with morals, gorgeous, and a loving family.
Perhaps a bit too much of a good thing and that's one of my niggles about the plot.
It's not just that its outcome is highly improbable, but that Jamie's behaviour is just all too perfect throughout.
Ash on the other hand, while he's also amazingly good looking, highly intelligent, speaks half a dozen languages etc, he's also harder to like as he doesn't have the job role White Knight card to play.
He's prickly, we're told he was a bit of a d*ck to the other officers in his protection detail.
We get to see him be impulsive, he takes a ridiculously dangerous risk - twice - and I know why he's the way he is and there are deeply emotional reasons for his behaviour, but I found I was occasionally more irritated by him than sympathising.
There were other ways he could have dealt with the situation which arises. I won't spoil that, only to say, there should have been a trigger warning for it in the blurb.
However, that's the bits that annoyed me out of the way. The rest is a well-written narrative with strong sense of setting and an obvious attraction between the two men.
It's slow burn with some delightful UST and I will definitely give the author credit for not having them get down and dirty at inopportune moments when they were still in danger.
There's some great dialogue too, not too much internal monologues, and the on page sexy time is rather delicious.
The Epilogue goes some way to closing a few threads left dangling too.
I mostly read this one because the second book in the series definitely caught my eye and for a debut, this was a very solid story.

I got the audiobook, so no quotes this time around. The audiobook was very good, and I am super impressed by the narrator, Jon Curtis. First time I’ve heard him, and it was delightful.
This book is marketed as a second chance romance, which, I guess? It’s more like a ‘second chance at first love’ situation, considering they were never together the first time around, just caught some feelings. I wouldn’t have read it if it was proper second chance lol. That trope is not my friend. I really enjoyed the situation in this book, though! It was sweet, low angst, romantic, suspenseful, and hot (big and buff law enforcement dude who’s 🍆 hungry, anyone?) They guys were also relatively emotionally mature, which is always a nice treat. I’ve read the fourth book in this series (which I enjoyed even more), and I think this book is a great series starter. Works well as a standalone, but it drags you in and you want to learn more about the universe it’s set in.
There is a case of the typical TSTL thing we often see in romantic suspense in this one as well, but it didn’t annoy me *too* badly. Not enough to impact my rating atleast, even though it was colossally stupid, lol.

I think Jamie was the only part of this book that I liked... although I have no clue why people call him Jamie when his name is Seumas? Weird, but whatever.
Ash was just not a believable character at all, and was really unlikeable.
I also didn't really get the plot. Too much was rushed and glossed over, but then there were entire multiple chapters solely of sex scenes. It just didn't flow well and it was so far fetched that I ended up rolling my eyes every few minutes! Nothing made much sense and there were too many conveniences.
I'm intrigued to see what happens with Quinn in the next book, but I'm also not in any rush to read it.

I really enjoyed this book by a new to me author! The characters were charming and fun, but were also very real.
The story did have a bit of fantasy to it where the bad guys lose and the good guys win, but it was well written and sweet.

Save Me features a slow-burn romance with forced proximity and a protector-protected dynamic, layered with some opposites attract. The two MCs have great chemistry, so the sex is hot.
This was my first Beck Grey book, and I found it engaging from the beginning. I enjoyed the development of the characters, plot, and the relationship. I look forward to reading more from this author!

M/M romance between a witness and his protector with intrigue, danger and passion
This book was a well-written, fast-paced first endeavor for this author. I truly enjoyed the banter between Ashley and Jamie. It was humorous, playful and romantic. And then there was the internal dialogue especially for Ash who is snarky but witty. These two men are amazing together.
Ashley Pandy is a brilliant scientist but his testimony will land him in WITSEC with Deputy Marshal Jamie (Seumas) MacDougall as his protector until then. Knowing that Ash is 37yo makes me think that Jamie is about that age too. Their backgrounds couldn’t be much different. One was disowned when he came out and the other was deeply loved regardless. Together they will make a great couple but first they have to get past their taboo situation and then maybe the fact that someone wants to kill Ash for bearing witness against their illegal operation. Jamie’s parents and siblings are great. Ash’s friend Oliver plays a small but highly sensitive part in the book. There were several OMG moments in the book: opening the wine at the cabin; special dinner Jamie arranges for Ash; their first time and more.
Although at times it felt like there was going to be a cliffhanger, the epilogue tied up many loose ends, giving the reader a very satisfying HEA. Overall, I loved this M/M romance with limited but explicit scenes between our characters and give it 4.5 beautiful and passionate stars. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Gay Romance Reviews.

I am struggling to write this review, to be honest. For some reason, despite liking both men and the story, it just didnt click for me.
I liked Ashley and I liked Jamie individually but for some reason it just didn’t add up for me.
You can call it lack of chemistry but that wouldn’t be completely accurate as they are sweet and cute together, so like I said, I am struggling as I cannot pinpoint exactly what was lacking for me.
Also, there is a particulair scene in the book that had me choking up and I would have liked to be warned a bit beforehand despite it happening to a side character.
There are scenes that felt rushed, where in some parts, I was waiting for something to happen.
This being the first book in the series, I am strangely interested in the next book, too. I hope to read some more on Jamie and his partner, Duncan, for example. And I hope, also, that through that we will get some more story between Ashley and Jamie.

‘Save Me’ is a fluffy romantic tale, with a few suspenseful moments, written by newcomer Beck Grey, with new-to-me narrator Jon Curtis giving voice to the characters. I was able to listen to this audiobook courtesy of an ARC that I requested and received for free. The comments written in this review reflect my voluntary, honest opinions of it.
I’m drawn to books like ‘Save Me’ for a few reasons. I love the setting of the Pacific Northwest. Romantic suspense stories are a frequent choice. With US Marshall Jamie being protector of man-in-peril Ashley AND the added bonus of forced close-proximity, I couldn’t resist.
After a sorta-insta-love start, the book settles into a hugely adorable get-to-know-you romance. While Jamie and Ashley aren’t sure about starting a relationship, due to Ashley’s imminent placement in the witness protection program, they go their separate–but broken-hearted–ways. Rash decisions bring them back together. Will they let this second chance to be together slip away too?
Plot contrivances aside, the story Grey delivers will have readers swooning over Ashley and Jamie’s relationship growth and fanning themselves from the hot, steamy sexy scenes. If you’re looking for a sweet, non-complicated, super-low-angst read, this one provides all the feel-goods.
As mentioned above, I’ve not listened to a Jon Curtis narration before. His performance here is given a lighter tone in an interpretation that feels well-suited to Grey’s story.

Save Me by Beck Grey was my first go at reading a book by this author. After looking the author up on Amazon, it appears this is the first book they have written—under this pen name, anyway. If that truly is the case, then I see a lot of potential ahead for future stories. If it's not the case, where, pray tell, are the rest of the books? I wouldn't mind reading another one.
This is one of those stories with a lot of inner dialogue, but the actual dialogue between the characters is meaningful. I know some are not fans of internal dialogue, but I don't find it problematic as long as the story flows at a good pace, which this one did. I enjoyed the vocabulary the author used. It made me think, and it gave depth to the characters.
I found the characters to be likable and multidimensional. However, I felt like the narrator didn't do a lot to differentiate between the voices of each character. That said, his narration was pleasant to the ears, and it wasn't hard to tell who was talking. Although, that may have more to do with the fact the book was very clear about it.
Even so, I felt that the narrator did a good job bringing the story to life. He was easy to understand, and while the overall sound of his voice was subdued, it was melodic and kept my attention. I felt he complimented the book nicely.
I would be happy to read a book by this author again and listen to more of the narrator's work. I think others would enjoy this book as well.

A great debut novel.
When I listened to Save Me I didn’t know that it was Beck Grey’s debut novel; when I found out I was even more impressed with the story. The book grabbed me from the start and didn’t let go. I enjoyed the slow-burn aspect as well as the forced proximity. I could feel the connection between Jamie and Ashley and I loved the epilogue.
The audiobook was a pleasure to listen to; I enjoyed Jon Curtis’ voice and the way he put emotions into the story. I checked my library and couldn’t find any other audiobooks by him but I swear I know his voice so perhaps he performs under another name, too. In any case, I would love to listen to more books that he narrates.
I’ll be watching for more books from this author and more audiobooks from this narrator.

This was a fun and fast paced start to a book series. I really enjoyed the story and the interactions between the main characters. There were a few moments where the suspense was pretty interesting but I wished there was a lot more suspense to the story. I had a lot of fun as I listened to it and am curious to see what else will happen with the different characters.

As I was listening to this audiobook I was totally drawn into the lives of Jamie MacDougall , a Deputy US Marshal and Ashley Pandy who needs protection.
Jon Curtis , a new narrator for me pulled me into the story with his wonderful narration, made everything so very real!
This is my first book relating to a witness program, I really enjoyed it, made me open my eyes to another side of life.
A wonderful storyline with perfect narration.
Their journey has many ups and downs that were written extremely well .

Another low-angst, steamy romance.
I enjoyed the story, but occasionally questioned the sanity of Ash when he kept running off and putting himself in danger. What's the point of being in Witsec if you're going to keep putting yourself in danger?
That said, I couldn't stop turning the page! Sure, Jamie's a little too perfect, but I loved reading this and plan to read more in this series. (Though, I've already listened to Book 3!)
Book 2 is next and I can't wait!

It's always a good day when the good guys win. Ashley and his protector - the Deputy Marshall assigned to protect him start out as an odd pair. Watching them become a cute couple is so sweet. There is a lot of inner dialogue in this book which I found interesting. You will enjoy this read.

I received this book as a gift and I loved it! Jamie and Ash have become one of my favorite couples. I was hooked on this book from the first page. They both have to go through so much to be together and the chemistry between them is pure fire! This is the first book from Beck that I have read, but I will be adding the rest of their books to my TBR list!!! I truly recommend this book. I will definitely be re reading it over time!!!

I really enjoyed this book, it was amazing for a first book out by the author. I liked the premise of the book, it's a hard relationship to actually work around. Ashley is in Witnesses Protection, he is testifying against his old employer. He is telling the court about how the medical trails they conduct have hurt others, also there is some shady dealing going on there. Jamie is his protection for the few months in in the safe house. They both like each other, but they know there is nothing they can do about it. Ashley gets a new identity and they don't see each other after that. That i until Ashley does something stupid, he goes to see his dying friends, which results in the cartel finding him. Luckily Jamie comes to the rescue. I adore Jamie, he is so patient, and he loves Ashley despite his flaws. Ashley does things without thinking of the consequences of his actions, which have bad results as he's wanted by the cartel. I wanted to slap him silly at times, but when you here his back story, his personality makes a lot of sense. They were amazing together, in, and out of the bedroom. Jamie's family was ace, especially his mom, and his brother Quinn. I can't wait to see Quinn's story. I didn't think their relationship court happen, but the author found away. I really enjoyed this book, the ending was a great way to wrzpy up this story.

This is a new to me author and it won't be the last. We start off the story with Ashley in a safe house waiting for his final day of testimony against the cartel. There is most definitely heat between himself & Jamie the US Marshall who is guarding him. But they both know that nothing can come of it as soon as he testifies, he will be entering WITSEC. Fast forward a year & neither can forget about each other. When Ashley risks everything by going to see his dying friend, the person he calls his Jamie to help him. Jamie does ride in & rescues Ashley & takes him to his families cabin to keep him self until they can determine if they will give Ashley a second chance & let him re-enter WITSEC. We get to watch these two really fall in love while they are hold up in the cabin. I loved the romantic dinner setting that Jamie did for Ashley, that was so very sweet. When Ashley pulls off a stupid stunt that almost gets him killed, again, Jamie finally tells Ashley that he lives him & wants to spend the rest of his life with him. The eplouge was perfect giving us a glimpse in the future see how our boys are doing. Hopefully they will pop up in the next book, which is Jamie's youngest brother's story & I can't wait for it.

Save Me is an easy-to-read romance with an excellent protector-protected trope driving the plot. The first of a series by a newly published author, I was pretty impressed and will read future releases.
Jamie and Ashley are equally likable and easy to root for throughout Save Me. I liked how the author established the chemistry and attraction between the men from the start, and I enjoyed how she brought the two back together. From a romantic and suspense standpoint, Save Me is pretty uncomplicated and straightforward with what I'd consider minimal angst. While there are pockets of high stress and uncertainty, the resolutions happen pretty quickly and smoothly, maybe even a little too easily, considering what the men are up against. Regardless, the action scenes move fluidly and are well-written, so it certainly didn't disappoint there.
If you enjoy the protector dynamic but are looking for something that isn't overly dramatic or intense, Save Me is a good choice. Well-written with likable characters and good chemistry, I suspect many readers will enjoy this book.

The story starts off with a prologue set during the trial while Jamie is protecting Ashley. Grey does a really nice job here establishing a connection between the men, even in this short introduction. I could feel the longing they had for each other, the chemistry between them, and the sadness that they would ultimately be separated. I vilunteered to write a review and not in the author's social media so my assessment is my own and without influence. I loved the US Marshalls involved and particular Jamie, one of the two main characters. I also loved Jamie's family the few times we meet them. Ash is a bit difficult to like but we have to understand his past and present situation although we do see a good side of him in the love for his dying freind that brings him into danger which is why Jamie and Ash get to meet again. The way the author has woven that into the story is well-done but I wondered whether it might be unrelaistic. The chemistry between Jamie and Ash is electrical. Throughout I wondered how the Marshalls would deal with yet another witness protection situation but the ending while a surprise should not have been - it fit. This is my first read of a book by this author and I found the author quite talented.

Angsty.........Sexy and Deliciously HOT 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Jamie and Ashley had such a rollercoaster ride... it was sweet, it was heartfelt and it was intense and emotional.... both men loved with their whole heart and it was clear from the day they met that they belonged together....circumstances be damned!!! It wasn't easy but these guys fought so hard for their Hea and that epilogue ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ was everything!!! This is a new to me author and I'm excited to see what's next!!!

I am a sucker for protector/protectee stories and this one gives them an unusual spin. Jamie and Ashley are a Marshall and his charge in the Witness Protection program that eventually are forced to split up for Ash's safety. When Ash needs help, however, he breaks protocol and reaches out to Jamie. A satisfying second chance romance where love triumphs and the baddies get their comeuppance.

I loved Jamie and Ashley! They weren't your typical romance protagonists, especially Ashley, and the plot was different than most I've read before. I loved how Jamie was sort of like a big, sweet puppy (unless he needed to be a guard dog!), and Ashley was smart, awkward, and a little abrasive. That just made their romance more relatable! Honest review of ARC.

Ashley Patel (Pandey) is a super-smart 37 year old with several degrees and speaks 5 or 6 languages. He’s also got qualifications in Oenology, the Art of winemaking. His major degree is in Chemistry and he works for a major drug company.
This company is owned by the family of Ashley’s best friend, Oliver. Oliver’s mother died from a rare disease years ago, and then it was discovered that Oliver has been diagnosed this condition also. His father set about developing drugs to try to combat this condition but used unethical methods and thereby caused many deaths. Having been arrested and now standing trial, Ashley is considered the most valuable witness for the prosecution. Following the trial Ashley had to go into Witness Protection programme because a drug cartel is out to eliminate him.
Marshal Seamus Jamie McDougall is part of the Team protecting Ashley in a safe house until all the paperwork for his new ID, location, job, home, driving licence, passport is completed. This takes a while and during this time Ashley has developed an attraction towards Jamie. He senses Jamie’s reciprocation but neither cross the boundary because they know that Ashley is soon to disappear forever into Witness Protection.
Jamie cooks a last dinner for both of them the night before Ashley’s departure and they say their goodbyes.
In the following year Ashley has been leading a good life, owning and managing a successful Art Gallery and having an apartment above it, he is enjoying a decent life. He desperately misses seeing his best friend Oliver and he also has never forgotten Jamie McDougall.
Until one day a gossipy client to the gallery drops a comment during a conversation with Ashley. Excusing himself, Ashley grabs his phone, keys and takes off.

This was an exciting MM with a bit of a difference, involving attempted murder and mystery. While I engaged with both MC, and loved Ashley’s character, I was a bit confused at times about the dynamics of the relationship. Ashley appeared to me to be quite ‘femme’ but then assumed a more dominant stance. Jamie also seemed happy to let Ashley be the bossy one at times.
Nevertheless, I’ve enjoyed all the books in this series, loved all the MC’s in each, especially like the warmth of the McDougall family. Recommend the whole series as an enjoyable read.

Beck Grey is new to me and I was not sure what to expect, so it was a pleasant surprise to find that I not only enjoyed their story but their wonderful writing style, too. They created an original story with interesting storylines that are captivating from start to end. The characters are likable and nicely developed, they are also realistic, easy to relate to and connect with.Jamie MacDougall, a Deputy US Marshal assigned to protect Ashley Pandy, who is in the witness protection program and has assumed a new identity and will soon move to start a new life. The two harbored feelings for each other, but Jamie would not cross the line and take it any further though he did show that he cared, but that was as far as it goes. Ashley set off for his new life, away from the men after him and away from his closest friend. A year later, he finds out his friend is on his deathbed and though it is a risk, he must see him one more time. As discreet as he was going in, he was still discovered, he escaped but was not sure what to do or if they would continue to hunt him down. Not having anyone to help him, he called Jamie, whom he was never supposed to contact again. Luckily, Jamie answered and rushed over to where he was and got him to a safe place. Turns out neither one could get the other out of their head, the chemistry between them is off the charts and there is only so long they could deny it or each other. Jamie and Ashley are opposites in many ways, Jamie came from a family of love, Ashley did not, it was more about status for his family but none of that mattered to either, the heart feels what it feels and wants what it wants and in this case it is each other. I loved how everything played out in this book, it is a nicely plotted story and there is never a dull moment, there is plenty of drama, a touch of angst, some heartfelt and emotional moments, thrilling and suspenseful moments and a slow burn romance. Beck Grey, thank you for this great story and emotional rollercoaster ride, I am looking forward to checking out more of your work.

Ashley is a scientist who is going to testify against his employer. This testimony lands him in WITSEC with Deputy Marshal Jamie (Seumas) MacDougall as his protector. They fall for each other, but are separated when Ashley gets a new identity and a new life. Fortunately, circumstance brings them back together, and they finally get a chance to admit their feelings for each other and get it right this time.
Save Me is a well-written, fast-paced book, and I found it engaging from the beginning. One of my favourite parts must be the banter between Ashley and Jamie, which was fun, playful and romantic. I also loved that it was a slow-burn romance. They already knew each other before the book started, but it still took a lot of time before they really admitted their feelings and got together, which made their relationship much more believable.
One minor point of critique is that each chapter was written from either Ashley or Jamie’s point of view. I did like this, but it left me a little bit confused at times. For example, a chapter written from Ash's point of view contained some sentences that made me think it was Jamie, and vice versa.
Overall, I really liked this M/M romance and I cannot wait to dive into the next book!
