Everything in Life Is a Fire
EVERYTHING IN LIFE IS A FIRE is Dano Chow’s first collection of poetry and haiku, a montage in retrospect spanning a decade. At times introspective and playfully philosophical, the book offers insight into the development of a young writer’s sense of self. Fire by fire, Dano illuminates a pathway with words, attempting to mesmerise us by making the most ordinary of things appear divine.

“so about these colours staring into me now
no longer yours, no longer
are we in the time we knew
only how to touch each other
with our thumbs behind a glass screen.”

I thoroughly enjoyed it. The poems take me through years of youth I had forgotten to recount. Angst, ache and age. The photos were lovely and the writing was thoughtful, I've come to read this twice now - finding new inspiration each time.

In a time of failure and despair, illuminating words and playful philosophy pave a way for me to see the light. I'm reminded of youth and joy, desire and pride, dream and hope. Perhaps everything in life is a fire in need of being rekindled once in a while.

Beautiful collections of poetry and pictures. My favourite poem would be on pg 90.

Breathtaking kind of poetry. This is an instant favorite to me, really wish I could write proses & poetry this way someday. So glad I picked this piece up that evening🫶🏼
