Good insight into how women used to be treated and taught in the fifties and sixties. Things that I found shocking as they are not how women today are treated: Discouragement in marrying outside one's race. A woman homemaking is worth $10,000 to her husband. Waiting to marry until 29 or 30 may be too late to avoid old maid status. Don't nag your husband. Focus on home economics courses in school because they are more valuable for your future than hard sciences.
There were several recommendations in the book that stood the test of time, such as generic advice like marrying for love and having respect for one's husband. I am also glad that there was a companion book to this one called A Letter to my Son. I'm sure it would have also been very outdated and antiquated, but progressive for having one.
