once again, i am a sucker for a love interest that has been in the military. guilty pleasure.
- forced proximity - he’s hired to protect her from people who are trying to kidnap her - they are pseudo parents with her sister’s baby - every time that man picked up the baby i simply SWOONED - lots of action, in and out of the bedroom ;) - he’s divorced and doesn’t believe that he can love again, everyone in her life has left her and she is looking to love again
i think i would have liked more chemistry between the two love interests. i think there was so much potential for so much more much!!!
No time to catch your breath 4.5 It's a story full of action and intense in its pace from the start, which is all the more amazing to manage to squeeze in a romance, and yet the romantic part also manages to be intense, touching. It must be said that the heroine Danielle, in a few pages, recovers her niece who is a 2 month old baby, while her sister evaporates, that Shawn, a bodyguard, comes to her home to protect them on request of her sister, whose activities endangered their life, but also her own. Anyway, like I said, it's definitely intense from the start, all while taking care of a two month old baby, knowing nothing about it as an infant. In short, it's a hell for Danielle and Shawn. This was the third book in the Sentinel Security Series where partner Shawn Joseph was hired by CIA Agent Val to protect her daughter, Grace and sister, Danielle. Val had discovered someone on her team was reselling weapons they had captured to the highest bidder. The villain was after Val and had already killed once. Danielle had not seen Val in over six years, and she left her baby on her doorstep without a word. Only to have a strange man show up saying he was there to protect her and Grace. The drama begins with the bad guys almost immediately showing up on Danielle's doorstep. They barely manage to stay one step ahead of the bad guys as the attraction between Shawn and Danielle grows deeper. Shawn tries to deny his feelings for professional reasons, but they were there none the less. A fast moving story with lots of action keeping you on the edge of your chair until the end.

Book three in the series brings Shawn and Danielle's story. The author brings a cast of strong characters centering on Shawn and Danielle. He's there to protect her and her baby niece when her sister runs into trouble. It's an action packed story filled with suspense,danger and the growing romance. It's well written with detailed and descriptive scenes,moves fluidly and is another great book to the series. Loved and recommend this book.

Another smashing and hit in the series!! What would you do if your niece was dropped off at your doorstep with a note, a flash drive and a diaper bag? I’ll tell you what I would do- freak out!! Then a guy shows up at her door telling Danielle her sister sent him to protect her and the baby. A sexy, hot former Navy SEAL. Shawn just keeps throwing surprises at her and to top it all off she doesn’t know her sister like she thought she did. Will Shawn be able to protect Danielle and Grace without losing his heart to the duo?
Leslie North has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Danielle and Shawn. Danielle hears someone knock on her door and when she answers it, there is a baby there. She reads the note left and finds out it is her niece Grace. Her sister, Valentina said that she needed her to watch her for a while. Since Danielle has had Grace, she has been crying. There is a knock on her door and she and Grace go to answer it. When she opens the door, there is a man standing there. She asked, "Who are you?" I'm Shawn Joseph. Your sister sent me." She just stands there and Shawn said, Gertrude." She looks at him and said, "What?" Shawn tells her that it was the name they were going to name their puppy when they got one. If Val wanted to let her know she sent this man, then that was the story to give him to tell her. No one else would know it. "Where's my sister?" she asked. Shawn said, "I'll tell you everything I know inside. It's not safe out here." She shivered and asked, "What do you mean by that?" He tells her that she and Grace are both in danger. She lets him in and she said "Do you know where my sister is?" Shawn said that he didn't. He tells her what he knows about what Val is involved in and then tells her to pack her and Grace a to-go bag just in case they have to run. Shawn shows her the email he had gotten from Val and asked about the flash drive. Danielle tells him that she tried to open it but it was broken. They end up having to run and every time they think they are safe, they are found again. Things heat up between Danielle and Shawn and they sleep together but afterward, Shawn seems to regret it. Danielle has always had people leave her and he is no different. They go to a safe house that his company Sentinel Security has. They are found again and this time they end up going to one of his friend's homes. The house belongs to Joy and Maxwell. Maxwell is his partner in Sentinel Security and the house is protected. Shawn is at the office when he receives a call and it's from Val. She wants to know how Danielle and Grace are doing and if he has found anything out about the files on the flash drive. She said that she had some more information and they needed to talk. She asked if now was a good time. She then walks up behind him. Shawn and Val talk about what she has found out. She tells him that she is going to bring the person down. Shawn takes her back to the house so that she can see Danielle and Grace. When Danielle sees Val she gets happy and then mad. Danielle has not seen Val in years. She didn't know she even had a niece until she got sent a picture of her. Val works for the CIA and she was trying to protect Danielle. Val tells Shawn that since she was there, then his job was done so he could leave. Shawn takes her at her word and goes to pack. Danielle finds him packing and asked, "You were just going to leave without a goodbye?" He tells her he thought it was for the best. He thinks that she doesn't need him for anything anymore. Shawn can't seem to stop thinking about Danielle and he stays at the office a lot. Shawn has just gotten home from the office when he is called and told he was needed back. When he gets there, Val and Danielle are there. Danielle tells them all that she just got an email from some man she doesn't know. The message tells her that they have Val and if she wanted to see her alive again, for her to come to the place they said and to come alone. Val knows that the message was from her boss at the CIA and he was the one she was after. When Shawn hears that Danielle is planning to go to the meeting place, he tells her "No, she can't go. She tells him that he has no said in what she does. Val and all the guys at Sentinel Security come up with a plan to get Ben, Val's handler from the CIA. Danielle tells Shawn that just make sure they get her out alive. Shawn is on edge when Danielle is going into the meeting. When she gets inside, there is a man there and he introduces himself as Stoldman. Danielle asked to see her sister but was told that she would be there shortly as soon as she knew that he had Danielle. He said to Danielle "I should thank you for being so accommodating. And so very stupid.” He nodded to the three men behind him. “Tie her up. Carefully—we wouldn’t want anything happening to her or her niece before Valentina arrives.” One of the mercenaries started toward Danielle but was knocked down. Shawn thought it was Val making use of her sniper rifle. That was his cue, he went after Danielle. Things went a little crazy when the rest of the guys went after the mercenaries. Stoldmas was trying to run but he was taken down. He was shot but only bad enough to stop him. The guys from the office are tired of seeing Shawn acting down. They all go and have a talk with him. They tell him a few things and it has him thinking about how he treated Danielle. Danielle is back at work and it is Career Day at school. She was finishing up things when she heard a voice she hears in dreams. She looks around and sees Shawn reading a story to some children. As if he can feel her there, Shawn looks up at her until a child tells him to keep reading. After the story is over, Shawn goes up to Danielle and she asked, "What are you doing here?" He tells her that he said that he would help her out before and he always kept his word. He asked, "Is there somewhere we can talk?" She takes him into an empty classroom and asked again, "Why are you here?" He said that he was there for her. He explains how he was thinking and feeling. He tells her that he messed up and that he was sorry. He asked, "Could she give him another chance?" Will Danielle give Shawn a second chance? This was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone.

Each one of these stories only gets better as we go along. I like that's there plenty of intrigue, some action, heat and a genuine story line. Shawn is up next for protection detail. At least he knows the person who is asking him for help. Val is a CIA agent and she's been double crossed by her team. They killed her husand and she's not about to let them get her baby. Shawn and Danielle (Val's sister) are on the run to keep baby Gracy safe. Excellent story and HEA. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
'SEAL's Pretend Family by Leslie North is the third and final book in her Sentinel Security series and tells the story of Danielle (Dani) Yesenko, a single fourth grade school teacher, and Shawn Joseph, a former Navy SEAL and partner in Sentinel Security. Dani is working at home and thinks she hears a baby crying. Then there is a knock on the door and when she answers it she finds a baby in a car seat with a note. The note is from her sister, Valentina (Val) stated that the baby is Dani's niece, Grace, and to please take care of her for awhile. Dani had not seen her sister in six years and only received an occasional text or email from her. She could not imagine why Val dropped Grace off with no warning, and only note with no explanation except saying help was coming. At least Grace's diaper bag was full of supplies.
Exhausted from trying to calm Grace down all night, Dani hears the doorbell. "That better be your mother, Grace", but it wasn't. Instead it was a tall, extremely attractive, blond, built gentleman and she in her least attractive pj's. The Adonis introduced himself as Shawn, explaining he was hired by her sister, Valentina, to help. Shawn tells Danielle that her sister is CIA, and her life and those she loves are in danger. Dani was astounded because Val had always claimed she was a journalist. Shawn was sent to protect Danielle and Grace until Val can finish her latest assignment.
Suddenly they are on the run from several men that are out to kidnap and/or kill Dani and Grace to get to Val. They can not figure how the bad guys keep finding their location. Plus Shawn is torn between protecting Dani and Grace and his feelings towards her.
Ms. North has written an intriguing addition to her series. This story has wonderful characters and an interesting plot. Loved Dani's reaction when she first saw Shawn and she thought she was having her "viking fireman" dream. The book is filled with humor, drama, action, and sizzling chemistry. I liked this book and recommend it to everyone who enjoys a romance with some drama. I am sorry to see the series end. I kind of wish Ms. North would do a spin-off using Val as the heroine in the first book. A CIA series about female agents kicking butt and saving the world.

“SEAL’s Pretend Family” is the third book in the ‘Sentinel Security’ series by Leslie North. You do not need to have read the previous books in the series in order to understand and enjoy this one.
Danielle has a life that’s quiet, calm, and predictable… and rather lonely. Everything changes suddenly when the sister she hasn’t seen in years and rarely hears from, leaves the infant niece Danielle has never met on her doorstep in the middle of the night. The few things that accompany the baby raise more questions than they answer. When handsome security expert Shawn shows up on her doorstep next, Danielle’s life gets even wilder. He tells her that her sister as a secret CIA agent with someone out to get her, and that the sister has hired him to protect Danielle and the baby. Neither of them is looking for a connection but the chemistry between them is impossible to ignore, even though they are on the run with a baby and desperately trying to evade mysterious, dangerous mercenaries.
Life has left Danielle with trust and abandonment issues. It’s left Shawn with the same types of issues complicated by the betrayal and cheating of his ex-wife. He’s a truly good guy who’s convinced that if he isn’t continually needed to fix things in some way, then he brings nothing of value to a relationship. I thought the author did an excellent job conveying his painful insecurities in a way that makes you want to simultaneously shake him and hug him. This is a fast-paced story, and I couldn’t put it down because I had to keep seeing what would happen next. I liked the conclusion of the story, how Danielle and Shawn each changed for the better because of one another. I also appreciated the involvement of the couples from the first two books in this series, and that Danielle’s sister doesn’t just vanish again in the end.

Seal’s Pretend Family is Book Three of the Sentinel Security series first out I hate that this is the last book of this series! I’m not ready for this to end. Such a good series. These books all three had everything in the stories you could hope for in a book and the series itself. Danielle Yesenko is a fourth grade school teacher single woman that feels pretty much deserted and alone in life. Opens her front door and discovers her infant niece on her doorstep with a flash drive and a mysterious note attached that has not a lot of details. Next a Retired Navy SEAL Shawn Joseph is standing on her doorstep telling her he has been hired by her sister Valentina to help, he tells Danielle that her sister is CIA, and her life and those she cares about are in danger, he is there to protect Danielle and her niece Grace until Valentina can get things taken care of. It’s just a short amount of time and they are on the run from several scary nasty men that are out to kidnap or kill her and Grace to get to Valentina. While on this road of trying to stay ahead of this slugs the emotions that come into play are plentiful drama, suspense, serious scenarios, drama, funny, some steam, the story is fast past you can’t put this book down once you’ve picked it up. Ms. North takes us the reader on quite the adventure, you feel pretty jittery at times sitting on the edge of your chair waiting to see whats next. Will Shawn and Danielle be able to get through this ordeal and save Grace all three keeping all three healthy and in one piece? Can they survive all this turmoil? Is a HEA even possible for them in their future? This I can truly say was one of the best stories that I have read in a long time, I truly felt as if I was along for the ride, I felt the emotions as they were happening. A good, good story. I highly recommend to everyone. I received an Advance Reader's Copy and am voluntarily leaving my honest thoughts and opinions.
Danielle life is turned upside down when her doorbell rings and she hears what she thinks is a baby crying. Her sister leaves her a note and a flash drive along with baby Grace asking her to keep her safe and that help is on the way. Grace is not happy, and Danielle can't seem to console her, not even trying to feed her, change her and all the other things you would normally do to quiet a crying baby.
She hadn't seen or heard from her sister Valentina for six years and now she is taking care of a baby. The doorbell rings and she is hoping it's Val but instead a tall stranger is at the door. Shawn Joseph was sent by Valentina to protect both Dani and Grace until Val can figure out who is trying to kill her.
Shawn knows Val from his time in the seals and her time in the CIA, which Dani has no idea. She thinks her sister is a journalist. What a shock that is.
They find themselves on the run multiple times as the bad guys keep finding out where they are and Shawn can't understand how that is happening until Danielle says something about her computer. He asks her is she tried to read the flash drive that Val left and she said yes, but there wasn't anything on it. He then proceeds to smash her computer and again they are on the run. As they try to stay out of harm's way the chemistry between them heats up and they end up having sex. Shawn is torn between protecting Dani and Grace and his feelings towards her. He doesn't think he can do his job effectively, so he distances himself.
Val is still on the hunt for the men that want her dead and shows up at Danielle's home. She more or less dismisses Shawn and as he's leaving Danielle asks, "Weren't you even going to say goodbye after....."
For the rest of the story, you will have to read it yourself. A great read.

Shawn and Danielle meet under less the ideal circumstances. Her sister hired him to protect Danielle and the baby daughter she left on Danielle’s doorstep. Right from the get go, they are both overwhelmed by the care of little Grace who seems to never stop fussing and crying. Having a bodyguard shocks Danielle, but finding out just what her sister does for a living is an even bigger shock. She chalks it up to never really knowing her sister, not being important enough to her sister to be kept informed about her life, both personally and professionally. Being a school teacher to young children did not prepare her for caring for an infant. It doesn’t take long for both Shawn and Danielle to feel over tired and restless, especially while they are constantly on the run from whoever wants to use Danielle and the baby to get to her sister. Danielle gives Shawn some valuable tips that lead to more information about the case and soon their connection and their attraction to each other reaches a boiling point. Their relationship takes an intimate turn, and they reveal a few personal items about themselves. The danger, the care of little Grace make them a united front, until her sister reappears and Shawn leaves without a word. Once again, Danielle feels unseen and unheard, not enough to consider or worry about. Shawn has always felt his worth was tied to what he can do to help someone. If his help or protection isn’t needed, he feels unnecessary and withdraws. Will these two fight for the love they feel for each other, or let this chance of a future together go untaken? One thing is for sure, they have no shortage of people nudging and prodding them toward each other.

This is the third book in the Sentinel Security series. It's about former Navy Seal Shawn Joseph and fourth-grade teacher Danielle Yesenko.
Danielle's infant niece Grace is mysteriously left on Danielle's front porch in her infant carrier along with a diaper bag, a flash drive, and a short note asking Danielle to care for Grace, adding that help would soon arrive. Danielle's sister Valentina dropped her off. Danielle had not seen her sister Val in several years. Danielle thought Val was a writer living overseas. When Shawn soon shows up and explains he has been hired to watch over and protect Danielle and Grace, adding they are in imminent danger, he also tells Danielle that Val is actually a CIA operative and that Val's husband has been killed. Mercenaries approach Danielle's house, so Shawn, Danielle, and Grace escape out a back window. Somehow the mercenaries keep finding Shawn, Danielle, and Grace, forcing them to stay on the run.
Val is trying to find out who betrayed her, who killed her husband, and who wants Val and her family dead. She left Grace with Danielle so she could stay on the lam, gather evidence, and figure things out.
Shawn and Danielle are attracted to one another. But they each have issues. Shawn's ex-wife wanted him to do everything for her, and she had not been faithful while he was away. Everyone Danielle loved, including her sister Val, had left her and Danielle thought the only person she could count on was herself.
Will everyone stay safe? If so, will Shawn and Danielle work things out? Read the book and find out. It's an intriguing adventure and an interesting read.

This is book 3 and I was captivated and held spell bound by this book and how the main characters came together for the greater good. Danielle Yesenko is a forth grand teacher and loves her job and after work she is home when there is a knock on her door upon opening it there’s a baby left on her front step with a note and a flash drive and it from her sister Valentina who she has had any contact with for years but it turns out it her daughter Grace and her niece that needs to be kept safe until she can return for her daughter. Shocked and not knowing what to do now then there is another knock on her door this time it a very seriously sexy man saying he is here to help keep them both safe and that Valentina sent him. Shawn Joseph retired navy seal works for Sentinal security and has been hired to protect the two females and tells Danielle that her sister works for CIA as an operative and she is shocked again by everything that happening right now but also Shawn never expected to see a gorgeous woman standing before him and wonders if he can keep his hands off her amazing body to do his job. Not long after his arrival danger arrives on her doorstep but they escape out the bathroom window in time and are now on the run from the evil mercenaries the want to use Danielle and Grace to get to Valentina. Can Shawn keep them safe and what happens when they cross the line and fall in love do they have a shot at a HEA and is Valentina reunited with her daughter Grace or not. Danger is all around but he will protect them to the end
SEAL's Pretend Family is the third and last book in the Sentinel Security series. This story is about Shawn Joseph, an ex Navy SEAL who is also the third partner in Sentinel Security, and Danielle Yesenko, a sweet and steady school teacher. It is Danielle's sister, Valentina, who spins her world upside down when one day she turns up and leaves Danielle her infant daughter Grace, a note and a flash drive. Danielle contacts Sentinel Security and soon discovers that her sister is actually a CIA agent who is in danger, and the information on the flash drive puts all their lives in danger. It is Shawn, the tall, built, handsome and sexy man who she finds on her doorstep sent to protect Danielle and Grace by moving in and pretending to be one big happy family. The sparks fly and the clothes come off with some Kindle smoking passion. But there is still danger, suspense, a mystery and more swirling around them.
This is a wonderfully exciting and passionate story and a great way to conclude this series. I liked the story-line and really enjoyed the well developed characters. Plus the HEA will melt your heart and your panties.
Danielle had a knock on her door when she opened it a baby with a note was there. Her sister asked her to take care of Grace and someone will be there to help them. The next day a man shows up and tells her he was hired by her sister to protect her and the two month old. Dani couldn’t understand what was going on. She thought her sister was on assignment oversees.A flash drive was with the note. She tried to put it in her laptop but it was blank. From the time he shows up they are on the move. She finds the man attractive. She learns about her sister. The letter has hidden messages they use to do as kids. Grace will not stop crying. Shawn talks to Joy and she tells them to change her formula it might be to strong for her system. It seems to help. Shawn is in his element protecting people is what he does. He can’t see how the people wanting to hurt Vi’s family keeps catching up to them. While on the run Shawn starts falling for Danielle but tries to keep his distance because he will lose site of his job. This book has everything from spies, love hurt and reconciliation. I didn’t want to put it down. I loved the story line.

Two strangers thrown together in the most unusual and dangerous situation. In view of what's at stake, they team up and work well together.
Shawn is ex SEAL and now works for a security campany. He is tasked to protect Danielle and her niece Grace. Danielle has never met her niece and suddenly finding herself caring for a two months old. Although, she is a school teacher, she knows nothing about caring for an infant. When Shawn turns up with an explanation of why her sister left Grace in her care, she is stunned, but doesn't back down from the challenge. Together, they set out to ensure this mission is a success. They encounter countless danger which somehow brings them closer together. Then Shawn decides that he is no longer needed. He makes a sharp exit, causing heartaches. He is suffering too, but his past has a warped way of getting in the way of his feelings. When all is said and done, will they pick up where they left off?
It's an interesting concept. The characters are dedicated and loyal to their cause. Their friendship is unconditional and the romance is rocky, but ends on a beautiful note. A well paced and pleasant read.
I received an eARC from Netgalley and the views expressed are my personal opinion.
~~~ I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review ~~~
SEAL's Pretend Family is a short romance full of action. I have not read the other two books in this series, but don't feel that I missed anything from not having that background. This book follows the story of Danielle and Shawn. Danielle is in need of protection after her sister drops her baby off while running from some corrupt CIA agents, who then start targeting Danielle. Shawn is ex SEAL and hired to protect her and the baby. Of course, it's an intense situation and chemistry ignites between them.
I enjoyed this book, however would've liked to see more development between Danielle and Shawn, to really show the chemistry and attraction between them, as a reader, I didn't feel it much. I think if the book was maybe 100 pages longer, the author could have invested more time in that development and making the ending to the rogue CIA agent situation stronger (more believable). However, the ending of the book is swoon worthy! Overall, I enjoy Leslie North's writing and this book. I'd recommend it if you're looking for a quick, steamy read.
As a side note, I greatly dislike this cover- this is not how Shawn is described in the book.
Shawn is one of the owners of Sentinel Security and is the last single guy. He is hired by his friend, CIA Agent Valencia to protect her sister Danielle and Val’s daughter Grace. Val and Danielle haven’t seen each other in at least 6 years and Val leaves her daughter on Danielle’s doorstep after midnight with a note asking Danielle to watch her and stating Val was in trouble, someone had killed her husband, she needed to lay low and that someone (a friend of Val’s)would be by soon to protect Grace and Danielle. When Shawn shows up he tells Danielle a story from her childhood only Val would know to convince her he was safe. Danielle never knew her sister was a spy and barely knew she was married or had a child. Shawn, Danielle and Grace are found and go on the run just barely escaping each time they are tracked down. Attraction builds between Shawn and Danielle but Shawn pulls away to clear his head and keep them safe, especially until he can figure out how they keep getting found. This has the danger you expect from this series as well as the emotional background of the characters and continues the story of the rest of the Sentinel Security couples.
You know it’s real when the big bad SEAL gets broody SEAL’s Pretend Family (Sentinel Security Book 3) by Leslies North is a wonderful romance to round out the Sentinel Security series. Shawn and Danielle are cut from similar cloths, having deep-seated needs from their pasts. These two click, despite the constant threat of danger and being on the run. It’s clear to the reader that it is not just fueled by adrenaline and convenience. The plot is suspenseful and non-stop as well as a little entertaining as they have a very young baby to manage as well. Danielle’s sister is the key and once she returns, the plot thickens to directly involve Danielle which nearly drives Shawn to a coronary. Overall, Shawn has to realize what all his brooding is about because he left Danielle. Thanks to some good old fashioned guy’s night intervention, Shawn has his hallelujah moment and makes a plan to get his girl. He doesn’t just get Danielle, he wins her in spectacular fashion worthy of the HEA of a lifetime of love, family and friends. This was a wonderful read, tremendous characters and scenario Danielle has a steady enjoyable life teaching her students when she is suddenly left to care for her sister’s baby niece, there is also some mysterious information which appears to be why she is on the run.
Shawn Joseph appears and advises her that he is there to help and although she is shocked, she is grateful and shocked having no idea she was an agent He is in his element caring for these two beautiful females who need him to ensure they are safe and sound at all times and Danielle can be a little difficult when it suits.
When it is apparent that deadly persons are after them, they have to go on the run and staying ahead of the game is not easy, she is putting the safety of her niece and herself in his hands and also realises her heart as well.
This is a wonderful read, full of action and intrigue.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read. I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
Danielle gets the shock of her life when her baby neice is left on her doorstep and shortly after a hunky ex-Navy SEAL turns up on her doorstep to keep them safe. It turns out Danielle's sister is not the writer she thought she was, she works for the CIA and has hired Shawn to protect Danielle and her daughter after getting in trouble. Danielle finds herself on the run with a baby and a hot SEAL, which is far from her normal teacher lifestyle. Eventually, they fall into a routine, even if it is changing their hideout every few days. They become closer the more time they spend together, but when Danielle makes a mistake that could have cost them their lives, Shawn pulls back from their relationship and maintains his professional role. Will he and Danielle make it out of the situation alive and if they do, will Danielle be able to convince Shawn to give her a second chance?
Danielle can’t believe it when her sister, who she hasn’t spoken to in a few years, leaves an infant niece Grace, who she knew nothing about, on her doorstep. Then a hunk turns up saying he is there to help. Turns out her sister is a CIA agent trying to catch the person who killed her husband and is now after her. Shawn loves to be needed and when he isn’t needed, he backs away, that is how his life has been to date. When he has to go on the run to keep Danielle and grace safe, he is in his element, but when a mistake nearly gets them caught, Shawn is convinced it was because of his attraction to Danielle and so he backs off and puts up a wall between them. Danielle is upset but not surprised as everyone leaves her eventually, why should Shawn be any different! Loved the cloak and dagger of this story: the attraction between Shawn and Danielle while they also get close to Grace as they fight to keep her safe was very compelling. I voluntarily received and reviewed an ARC copy of the book.
Danielle Yesenko enjoyed her quiet life as an elementary school teacher. At least until the knock on her door and finding Grace, her two-month-old niece, on the doorstep, complete with a diaper bag, a flash drive, and a note. Then ex-Navy SEAL Shawn Joseph arrives, telling her that her sister Valentina had hired him to keep her and the baby safe. Her sister is apparently a CIA agent on the run, trying to track down who killed her husband, and has hired Shawn from a private security firm to stay with Danielle and Grace until this is resolved.
Soon the three of them are on the run chased by mercenaries. Danielle becomes more than just an assignment to Shawn and he feels the attraction for her getting stronger. Can he put his feelings aside for now and keep them safe? Will they find time later to deal with their issues and decide if they want a future together?
This action-packed, fast-paced book will keep the reader’s attention from start to finish. Grab your copy and see if everyone makes it out alive.
Danielle's quiet life is turned upside down when she finds her niece on her front porch along with a diaper bag, flash drive and a note from her sister, who is apparently on the run. Less than a day later, Shawn is on her porch, there to help her. Soon, she, Grace and Shawn are on the run from the same people after her sister. While they are moving from safe house to safe house, Shawn and Danielle develop feelings for one another, but are not sure if it is the stress, or it is something real between them. When the case wraps up, and Shawn leaves, will they just go on as if nothing happened? This is the best in this trilogy, which is one of my favorites by Leslie North. Shawn is grumpy and taciturn ordinarily, but around Danielle and Grace, he is different, until things fall apart. Danielle is a strong heroine, who holds it together under impossible to imagine circumstances. Their HEA is so sweet, and so well deserved. This is definitely worth the one click.
Another fantastic book in this series. This book had me hooked from the very start. Danielle is shocked when her niece is left on her doorstep, and even more so when a very hot stranger knocks on the door to tell her she is in danger and he will be protecting them. Shawn is instantly attracted to Danielle, but soon things become very dangerous for them and they end up on the run. No matter how much Danielle and Shawn try to hide their feelings the sparks fly and they give in, however just when Danielle thinks there is a future, Shawn pulls back to focus on the case leaving her devastated. With no end in sight, Danielle decides she needs to help but it leaves her in grave danger. I loved this book, the characters were fantastic with amazing chemistry. The storyline was amazing, so much drama and suspense that has you on edge. Fantastic story.
Danielle open’s the door to find a baby. The letter with the child states it is her niece, the daughter of her sister who is in trouble and has left the child for Danielle to care for. Shawn shows up at her door, the security person who her sister contacted to protect her. Trouble soon finds them and they must move around to keep themselves and the child safe. Shawn feels he is responsible for keeping Danielle and Grace safe, but Danielle isn’t sure she needs someone to look out for her. How are they going to keep safe if they can’t agree on who should be in charge? Both of them must come to terms with their feelings, both for each other and how to remain safe. A great story with suspense but happiness also.
An exciting, fast-paced read that caught my attention from the very first page. Danielle was an elementary school teacher who got a knock on her door one night and opened it to find her two-month-old baby niece along with a diaper bag and a flash drive. She and her sister Valentina weren't close and they'd barely spoken in six years. The next day as she's holding a crying baby and trying to understand what's happening, the doorbell rang again. Shawn is an ex-Navy SEAL and now works in a private security firm. He tells Danielle that her sister Val hired him to protect them. She's a spy working for the CIA and she's on the run from some very dangerous people. Fearing for her baby and sister's safety, she entrusts them to Shawn's care. This story was exciting and captivating. I loved it. 5 stars.
