The Encirclement

Rate this book
A world shrouded in mystery. An entity’s return.
Hundreds of years ago, a beast called the Ticking Thing was destroyed… or so it seemed. Now, that beast has returned, with greater ambitions than ever before. Four teenagers are taken from their homes and lives and are whisked away to a world that encircles their own. There, they must decide what is real and what is an illusion, with enemies and allies meeting them at every turn. Abigail is self-sufficient. She doesn’t need anybody except her family. Even then, she is the one that cares for them. Dylan lives in fear. He dreams of death and destruction. Now, his dreams are coming closer to becoming a reality. Malia has a secret past. One that has been locked at the back of her mind for years. Now, the lock loosens, threatening to unleash the monster she knows lurks inside. Soon, they realize that their quarrel with the Ticking Thing runs deeper than they ever imagined, and they must decide whom they trust, as the battle lines are drawn for the battle to come. But is there truly any point in resisting death itself?

From one teen writer to another, this is really impressive, especially for a first project. The worldbuilding was really great and the plot well thought out, good characterization, too 👌

This book was like a breath of fresh air. Not only was it a fast read, but the characters were complex and the plot well imagined. I cried at the end and I’m so excited to read the next book.
