A lost fae princess searching for a way home. A reluctant king trying to win a war. Tia O’Shea is beginning to lose hope. Hope that she’ll ever say goodbye to the foreign wastelands of Lenya. Hope that she’ll ever see her brother again. With a new king on the throne of Vondur, she is no longer a prisoner, but that doesn’t mean she is free. As they travel across the border into enemy territory, Tia and Gulliver search for their lost friends, but they find themselves among fierce golden warriors and a strange court they’re uncertain how to navigate. When she first arrived in Lenya, Tia thought war was the biggest danger they would face. She was wrong. There is not enough magic in all of Lenya to stop what’s coming for them now, but Tia is determined to try. First, she must return to the place where she was nearly executed. To a king who once kept her captive. He must be warned even if he doesn’t trust a single word she says. Fire is coming for them all, and the time for bickering enemies has long past.
The journey through the forgotten kingdom is about to continue for Tia O’Shea. Prepare to lose yourself to this barren world where magic is scarce, and a devastatingly handsome fae kings breaks all the rules for the girl he loves.
Fae’s Refuge is book eight in the Queens of the Fae series and book two in Tierney’s journey. Readers don’t need to have read the entire series before this one, but make sure you’ve read Fae’s Rebellion.
Michelle MacQueen is a USA Today bestselling author of love. Yes, love. Whether it be YA romance, NA romance, or fantasy romance (Under M. Lynn), she loves to make readers swoon. The great loves of her life to this point are two tiny blond creatures who call her "aunt" and proclaim her books to be "boring books" for their lack of pictures. Yet, somehow, she still manages to love them more than chocolate. When she's not sharing her inexhaustible wisdom with her niece and nephew, Michelle is usually lounging in her ridiculously large bean bag chair creating worlds and characters that remind her to smile every day - even when a feisty five-year-old is telling her just how much she doesn't know.
Tierney O'Shea is still in Lenya, without knowing how she will get back home to Iskalt. Since Keir has become king in Vondor she at least isn't a prisoner anymore. With Gulliver as her companion Tia travels over the border, to Grima, to try and find her missing friends, Veren and Siobhan, who came with them through the portal. It's risky, since Vondor and Grima have been at war for many generations, and they don't know how they will be received. But there seems to be an even bigger threat than war facing them...
The adventure continues for Tia and Gullie! This is book 8 in the series, and the second book about Tierney O'Shea, future queen of Iskalt. You don't have to read the entire series, but you need to read Fae's Rebellion before this one.
We get the story from both Tia and Keir, with a few exceptions when we follow Siobhan instead. While Tia and Gullie are in Grima, Keir struggles with his new role as king. A position he didn't want and don't know how to handle, especially when he's being challenged in duels almost on a daily basis. In Vondor anyone can challange the king in "the Comhrac" and the one who survives takes the throne. Since Keir wants to take care and help all of the Vondorian people, not only the court, he's considered a weak king. Luckily he's a good swords man. I can safely say that I would prefer to live in Grima rather than Vondor, but that's another discussion!
I like the world building, love the characters and find the story perfectly paced. It's very easy to read and I would say that this is a good series to read if you're not used to reading fantasy, but would like to try the genre. Another thing I really like is that it doesn't matter if you love someone of the same gender. For example, Toby, Tia's twin brother, has a boyfriend and no one thinks of it as strange or "wrong" in any way. I wish to see more of this in fantasy books!
* I received an ARC from the authors and I'm giving my honest review. *
Fae’s Refuge is an amazing installment of the Queens of Fae series. We continued on with Tia’s story in the world of Grima and Vondur. Tia is still trying to figure out how to get home to her family but is stuck still in this kingdom thats at war with eachother. She becomes pretty good friends with the young queen of Grima and has intrested in meeting Keir to see if peace is something that could happened between the new rulers. I still do not trust the new queen. I feel like she will end up double crossing Tia and Keir. The book was just as fast paced as the previous books but I'm really looking forward to hopefully some more romance in the next book. While I love the world of this series and the characters I feel like sometimes it would be helpful to have a list of all the characters' names and who they are. Tia's family is so big and I can't remember who all is who. These books have been pretty short which is a great thing when your wanting to finish a book quickly, I feel like we could have definitely gotten some more stuff in this book. It was too short. This book raised a lot of questions and the book ended on a cliffhanger. I can't wait to see the answers and see how it will all end up. I really hope the romance couple I have in mine really shines.

Tia O'Shea is trying to get back home, but she also wants to help Vondur's new king and the others of the land she finds herself and her friends trapped in. But when she goes to the Vondur's enemy, to find her missing friends, she finds that it's not just the war between the two kingdoms for control of the stones that threatens the people of Lenya, there is another danger worse than war.
The eighth book in the 'Queens of the Fae' series picks off where book seven left off, with Tia and Gulliver looking for their friends. Of course, since this is part of a series I can't say a whole lot so I don't give anything away, but I can say that while it's still similar to the first few books of the series, there are some new elements that make this very interesting.
Of all the great characters in this book/series, I think Gulliver is my favorite because he has been through the most but is still himself.
There is some violence in this one, but not as much as others, but it is a tad disturbing so once again it's only suitable for readers fourteen and older. And there is romance, but not graphic.
It's the perfect blend of descriptions and story, with no overly drawn-out details, and even though there's not a whole lot of action, it's a quick read.
The adventures continue more action and moves at a good place. Great characters with humor ,velour and more. A great book and recommended read.
Tia O’Shea is beginning to lose hope that she’ll ever say goodbye to the foreign wastelands of Lenya. She's afraid that she will never see her family again as well. There is a new king on the throne of Vondur, which means she is no longer a prisoner, but that doesn’t mean she is free.
The adventures continue in this newest installment and there are more twists and turns in this book that you never know where you are going to end up. Truly fantastic characters, with plenty of wit and banter!
A great book and I definitely recommend reading it.
Tierney is my favorite character in all of these stories and couldn’t be happier than to see more of her!
In the previous story, Tierney opens a portal to get home for Veren, Siobhan, Gulliver, and herself. Instead of ending up back at her kingdom in Iskalt, she ends up on the battlefield between a war. Worse, her portal dumped her out at a war between kingdoms that was rumored to not exist anymore.
She was taken as captive and saved by Keir, the prince of Vandur. Not only does she become captive of Vandur but so does Gulliver. In the midst of battle does she find Veren safe but also in the army of the kingdom of Grima.
In this story, we find out where Siobhan really is and what happened to her after the portal left them in all different places. And no matter what, she goes about trying to help find Tierney, Gulliver, and Veren.
Tierney goes about venturing into Grima to find Veren and is welcomed with open arms. Unfortunately, not only is their war between the kingdoms but there’s another issue that becomes a problem, the fire plains are expanding.
Even though Tierney has extremely powerful magic, it’s useless in Lenya. With the crystals that held magic becoming scarce through the lands, there was little hope but to return to Iskalt and find a way to save these kingdoms.
I absolutely adore that through Tierney’s influence, she inspires so many characters to go above and beyond. Many feel the strength to speak up and take action. There is a lot of character development that goes on and it’s amazing to see the growth they take through these books.
I recommend this story highly, I loved and adored it. I didn’t want to stop reading till I had it finished but I had to sleep and go to work like a proper adult. I was graciously given an ARC copy for my honest review and couldn’t be more excited than to tell you, it’s worth reading and you’ll want the next book as much as I do!

‘Trouble is sometimes what a kingdom needs’ A good king tries to balance out the needs of all his subjects, not just filling his treasury and bribing his court. How many of the hungry would a royal banquet feed? How many of the naked would be clothed with the cost of one warhorse? Cleaning house and taking out the garbage are just what’s needed when taking over from a corrupt regime. The responsibilities are even heavier when one doesn’t inherit the crown. Becoming king by accepting an election or killing the previous monarch is a voluntary act. As Gullie so aptly called out Keir: ‘Be.A.King.’
Siobhan had studied the land of humans, but there’s nothing like first-hand opportunity to truly experience a culture. A little information before travelling helps us to better understand the customs and mores of other lands. Who knows? We may even bring back some of those to our own homes… For many of use, travelling has us making a new home in a new land.
Sage advice from the author: Be with someone who makes you challenge yourself.
Fave quotes: ‘Wherever there is a king, there is good wine.’ ‘Oh, dear Veren, Tierney has always been mad.’
May we learn to trade equitably among our neighbors, so that we all benefit without destroying each other or our world.
Next is ‘Fae’s Return’ to continue on Tia’s journey back home and to see what’s in store for the throne of Iskalt.
This is another of my all time favorite series. The author created some great characters and a world where good & evil battle all the time. I absolutely love the witty banter between the characters it's hilarious. Tia & Gully have had a hard time. They were captured by Kear and his men then taken to Kear's father for punishment. But Kear couldn't stand by and watch them hang so he saved them. They ended up leaving Vondur and going to Lenya. Once in Lenya they had to try to stop a war between the two rulers. Queen Rona wanted peace but she was unsure if she could trust the newly crowned King Kear. Even though Tia had told her he was trustworthy. They had to settle this brewing war so they could concentrate on the problem of the burning lands approaching their kingdoms and killing everything that couldn't get out of the way fast enough. They devised a plan that Rona would pretend to be Tia's ladies maid while they went to warn him of the advancing danger. Gully wanted no part of it for fear &e would end up in the dungeons again. All Tia & Gully really wanted was to go home but nobody had ever traveled that far beyond the burning sea. Rona got to observe Kear as she pretended to be the worst servant ever. A story full of danger, desire & determination.
While I enjoyed this book, I don't think it quite lived up to all of the previous books before it.
Tia and her friends are still stranded away from home in a world where they can't access their magic. Mainly cause there is very little magic.. They left one court, to be welcomed to the other. Both kingdoms are at war with each other, both wanting to rule supreme. But there is a larger problem and they need to work together. Tia and her friends come up with a perfect plan to get everyone on the same side and then to get home, but things don't go as planned.
I am actually kind of disappointed with how this book ended. The only way for them to go now is back where they came from, but even that won't help them get home. Plus, the king has confessed his feelings to her, but that comes with complications. I do enjoy how Tia has grown into a powerful woman who isn't afraid to stand up for herself. Through the books, she has grown in character and has become a significant part of these stories, but so has her twin brother... and very little is mentioned of him in this book.
I know there are more books, and I am going to read them. I just feel this one was a bit of a let down when it came to action or magic.
Recommending to my followers who enjoy Magic, Other Worlds, and Fae!
Tia and Gulliver's adventures continue, very close to the dangers of war that is raging between Grima and Vondur. Meeting the new generation of royals gives Tia hope, though - hope for a better future. Hope for long-overdue peace. And hope they will unite against a much larger enemy. But in helping others and protecting those she cares about, who will protect her own heart? And how can she keep her family and her friends close when they all tug her in different directions? Adventurous and turbulent just like the events of this story, the plot twists and turns at every corner, revealing surprises and hidden truths. The story also masterfully plays the emotions of the reader, especially one that's already bonded with the characters and cares about them deeply. Moreover, in light of recent situation in reality, the book gives me hope that all is not lost, and somewhere out there we can find heroes whose hearts are in the right places - just like Tia, Bronagh, and Keir's.
First of all I love this series! From the very first book you get to follow these characters and watch them grow up, develope relationships both friends and foes, and of course fall in love! This book is Is about trust whether it's someone you know or a potential enemy and trusting in one's self. It's also about solidifying bonds of friendship and learning to believe in others. The book is well written and the world building is nicely paced throughout the book. The characters have real, valid thoughts and struggles which anyone could relate too. This book feels like family and of course I need the next one NOW! I hope you love this series as much as I do. I love these authors! Thank you so much for letting me read this ARC. This book is enjoyable and I think it deserves 5 stars! I really look forward to the next book! The only thing I wish is that the books could be so much longer with more time to delve deeper into each character and add more depth to the story. I still love it though!!
We're first caught up with Siobhan, who finally makes her way home, albeit a long, round-about way home. Tia and Gullie are still stuck in Lenya, though they have been reunited with Veren. And this time they're in Grima, with the very warm and welcoming Queen. A stark contrast to Vondor's view of her. Keir is struggling with his new role as King of Vondor, being challenged daily makes it incredibly difficult for a King to focus on the tasks that matter. He wants to be a fair king, not a bloodthirsty one like those before him. He wants peace between the two lands, to unite Lenya, not conquer it. Bronagh never expected to be Queen, her sister was supposed to take over, not her. But Bronagh has more problems than her predecessors, not only does she have to deal with Vondor, but also another danger creeping up on Grima's doorstep. The world building and characters are on point (as always!) I can't wait for book 9!
This book can be read as if it were the second in a trilogy after Fae's Rebellion.

1st this isn't book one in this series so if you haven't read the books that have come before hurry up and catch up. If you have read this book will not disappoint. There are plenty of Tia and Gulliver moments to make you laugh. There are plenty of Kier and Tia moments to make you swoon plus all the character growth. I love Tia is realizing she is more then her magic or that there is more then one type of magic. And that ending! This is one of those series that I am ok if it doesn't end!

Oh Tia and Keir, I have new couple to love! Tia is still trying to find her way home but on this journey she has come to care some much for the other fae around her and now they need to band together more than ever with the new threat. Keir struggles to do what is right by changing his kingdom into one of compassion. So many lives hang in the balance if they can't get over the past generations. It was full ups and downs but the relationships between Tai and Gully and Eavha brighten up the world so much. Also Mr Grumpy even starts to crack some jokes.
A new enemy comes calling and neither kingdom may survive if they don't work together and find peace. Tia is still trying to get back home and save both of these kingdoms but time is running out. There are some new alliances formed and deeper friendships that will be put to the test. A fast paced read where there is always something happening and a few tender moments in between the battles.
Another incredible read. So much action and passion in this episode that kept me glued to the pages. Certainly was a rollercoaster of a journey, which incidentally is still not over. But it does mean that there is more to come from the characters that you’ve come to love. No spoilers but relationships are progressing nicely.
This has to be one of my favourite fantasy series.
If you want peace you must be willing go fight for it. To achieve peace you must know when to stop fighting. Trust is a precarious thing. It is not easily gained, but incredibly easy to break. Tia takes a queen into enemy territory in the hopes she can learn to trust a new king. When bigger enemies emerge that threat the entire land, solutions are hard to find.
Tia is going back to where it started and facing the ones she left behind. Trying to bring peace to save both sides in the war is something she desperately wants to accomplish. Steady paced with a cliffhanger.
Very Interesting. Description so vivid I can actually picture the world I was reading about. Now I have to go back and read the previous books. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series..

Tia & Gully going back to Vondur made me nervous but it was so fun to see Ava and Tias relationship grow and see the tension between Tia and Kier! With the fire plains expanding and endangering all of Lenya making all of the royals work together is a struggle but we love to see it!
This was a great book, I feel like there were def some slow parts but the ending mad up for it in my opinion. It had that cliffhanger that I feel all of them do to keep you wanting more! I already started the next one!
Absolutely fantastic book. The characters were awesome from beginning to end. They show us how to learn about trust in others and ourselves. A book to be reread many times.
