The gripping tale of the Royal Pack continues. As prophesies converge into an uncertain future. Every decision counts when the wrong one could mean the difference between peace or destruction for all.
Three years after Rolan’s betrayal, Aine and Lachlan work to protect their pack from his sinister plans unaware of his dark master.
It’s been three years since Rolan’s attack on the Aoibhan Pack. Since then, a tenuous relationship has formed between the shifters, hunters and townsfolk of Sumter with Lachlan working hard as a liaison between them all.
Initially, The Faction suffered a setback following their attack as they had not anticipated the O’Reilly hunters in their machinations. Now it appears that the Faction has grown and spread throughout North America. This is mainly in part to the way that recruits have been selected, with promising packs suddenly finding themselves attacked by ‘hunters’ and ‘rescued’ by the Faction who take them in. Solus’s power has grown exponentially with each initiation and it’s up to Aine to come up with a way to access her dormant powers to match the threat he poses. But when she’s captured by The Faction, Lachlan and Eloi must unite their forces against overwhelming odds. Will the obscure Tivaci bloodline pack be the answer to their prayers?
Hunter is the second entertaining instalment of the Royal Pack trilogy which picks up three years after the events of the first book. The plot thickened and twisted in ways that I didn’t see coming. I was once again pleased that the authors chose to include multiple points of view as it added depth and valuable insight into each character. Seeing Aine’s relationship with her father unfold as well as Lachlan’s relationship with his father was compelling reading. Poor Aine (and later Eloi) go through the wringer in this one and I found myself saddened by the death of a certain character.
As the plot expanded, several new characters entered the fray, making it apparent that each has an integral part to play in the upcoming war. Shocking revelations come to light regarding the history of the Aoibhan Pack and their link to the darkness. We also learn more about the existence of other Packs - that there were four original bloodlines; Aoibhan (Air) Tivaci (Earth) Xerses (Water) and Torak (Fire) I look forward to exploring these further in the next instalment.
All in all, this was a fast-paced, engaging sequel in which the authors did a fantastic job of creating characters that seemingly come alive. I’m looking forward to seeing what the author has in store for Aine and Eloi in The Prophecy.
Ideal for NA readers and fans of urban fantasy, paranormal romance shifters, hunters, dark magic, psychics, betrayal, prophecies etc
This series so far is a well thought out storyline and the character development is good. I enjoyed the development of Eloi in this book with the touches of typical teenager attitude that as a mother I could relate to. I personally would have enjoyed a little more spice as for me this was quite tame but if that is your thing, it doesn’t deter from the story at all.
Even though it is a very well written story, personally I felt this story reads slow. There isn’t one thing I can pin point that I could say deterred me from the story, but it just didn’t suck me in unfortunately.
I received a free ARC copy and am leaving this review voluntarily.
Rolan i hope that you get wat you deserve as soon as possible😈 Anne & Liz did a great job for book 2. hopefully there will be soon a book 3😛. Great world building easy read, wonderfull and not that wonderfull characters 🤣. It grabt me from the start. A lot of sitting on the edge of the seat. Due to tension through this book.
Wow, what a start to book 2! It puts a different spin on Rolan and Solus, insight into why they behave as they do. They're still the same deplorable characters, but I understand the motivation behind it. But boy oh boy, what they actually do, is pure evil! The tactics they use, is chilling! The power struggle between them, how each one uses the other to gain the upper hand, to achieve their own personal desires, is described to perfection! Aine and her pack are trying desperately to achieve some cohesion and acceptance between the hunters and shifters, but there is so much bad blood, it's a daunting task, as one attack after another, has them, and me, reeling. The fight scenes are so thrilling, my heart pumps like crazy reading them. After reuniting with her daughter, Eloi, Aine is quite the over protective mom, almost at the risk of stifling her and when the very worst happens, Aine is left, literally, fighting on all fronts! The growth of the characters progresses steadily and it's terrific to go on that ride with them, laughing with them, despairing with them, crying with them. I was astonished at all the twists in the plot, which only had me even more engaged and enthralled! The introduction of Daniel is a true master stroke! He's absolutely amazing! Love, love, love him and Eloi! I loved how their friendship developed, their interactions are spot on, humourous, clever, and at the same time mysterious. And the storyline wouldn't be complete without the character (or two) you love to hate, it adds so much depth. Shapeshifters who will worm themselves into your heart and grab hold of a piece of it! Totally and utterly sublime reading! The dimensions of this fast paced, unexpected occurances, twists, as well as incredibly absorbing, all consuming book, will have you at the edge of your seat! Book 3 can't come soon enough!
This cover is awesome i love how the wolf and girl almost fully merge together, its a simple but awesome looking cover. I love that theres not many things that take away from the main focus, it makes it stand out that much more.
Again as in the first book we have multiple pov's and dont i just Love that, it gives the book a little something extra and more feels as it gives you insight into other characters their view of things and also what they feeling am a huge huge fan of multiple pov's.
We learned that since book one 3 years have passed and i loved how we saw glimpses of what had happend in those years. Loved that too.
Loved the whole book, if i was not reading it i was dreaming about it!
What a page turner this book was, so many twist and turns, so many love and dislike along the way.
I bet book 3 wil be even better for sure
My dislike for Rolan & Finn and Solus grew beyond bounds, how Liz and Anne did it i dont know but they sure can write a character good.
The plot is amazing the characters are good We met new people, saw old people go away and above all we saw people comming together as a whole, i really really liked that
I have not one bad word for this book! So i am going to give it 5 whole stars!
Hunter is book 2 in the Royal Pack Trilogy by Anne K. Whelan and Liz Cain. This book picks up a few years later than the end of Reborn. Lachlan and Aine have been fighting the force of The Faction but feeling like they were making no headway in the fight. Little do they know secrets kept and about to be brought forward, bringing a whole new aspect to the battle! To me the series is taking a bit of a swing in the direction of the genre it is being written in. To me, Reborn was a paranormal Romance bringing Lachlan and Aine together. Hunter brings the storyline more into the Women’s Paranormal Fiction genre for me and it’s a positive thing. The story now focuses more on Aine and Eloi and the future of the Packs. The emotions are still there, just focused on different points. Surprises and new great characters are brought forward, bringing us to what I expect to be the ultimate showdown in the final book in the Trilogy. I enjoyed this book, but as with the first one it took me a few chapters before I was pulled in. Can’t wait to see how the authors pull it all together for us in the End.
Wow Hunter is a fantastic book and is the 2nd book in The Royal Pack Trilogy.
This series definitely keeps you interested and engaged it is filled with intrigue, adventure, prophecy, action and a quite a few surprises along the way.
So I have to say this book really expands the characters and I am pretty fascinated with the dynamics and motivations of Rolan and Solus. They are so evil and corrupt that it's sickening but you learn how that dynamic and evolution happens. The tactics and schemes involved are pretty frightening. I honestly feel like there is nothing they wouldn't do to get what they want. The power struggle between them is very intense and well written.
Aine and her pack are trying to unite the hunters and shifters, however, it's not a simple task there is a pretty dark history and constant attacks one after another keeps everyone off balance and untrusting. The fight scenes are so intense and the growth of the characters is a fantastic arc.
I was worried that this book wouldn't live up to the first one, but boy was I wrong! We meet so many new characters, dive into our favorite main characters' stories more, and continue along a plot that you absolutely cannot predict. Aine continues to be one tough cookie, displaying strength in love and power. She seriously walks the line so perfectly in this book and it's quite admirable. Lachlan is the kind of man I hope all men aspire to be: he is supportive, strong, and respectful. Eloi though....she wins my "Favorite Character" award. That girl and I have some SERIOUS similarities. We are both the 'younglings' of our families - lots of promise and expectation, but perhaps lacking the respect? Watching Eloi grow and mature in this book is so humbling, plus her story line gets multiple interesting twists and turns that you won't want to miss. And don't you guys worry....your favorite villians that you love to hate are still hanging around to torture you. The end of this book may have killed me a little bit, but I'm super excited for book 3 to see how it all ends!
What a BRILLIANT follow up to book one! This series definitely keeps the readers attention!! There's oodles of intrigue, adventure, prophecy, action, mystery and a few surprises along the way to keep us entertained. Families unite in intriguing ways throughout the story. The world development is richer and even broader in this book, and we dive deeper into our beloved characters too. I dare you not to alternately feel like cheering at certain points, and probably having the overwhelming urge to chuck eggs at a certain one (or two) characters at certain points 😉. This story will have you feeling ALL the feels and leave you desperate for more!!! The story is rich, exciting, far reaching and you can tell the next book is going to be just as brilliant!! I for one can't wait.
The story continues with the pack as Aine tries to help mend the relationship between hunters and shifters, but with so much bad blood, it may not be possible.
The characters are very well written, and you feel like you're there with them as you read their stories. I loved Aine's character and her relationship with Lachlan. The plot shifts the focus from romance to family, focusing on Aine and her building relationships and ties.
There wasn't enough action in the beginning to really pull me in, but after the first few chapters, the story finally brought me in and kept me until the end. The pacing was slower and did drag out some scenes, but the writing recovered where those scenes lacked.
The author provided a copy. This is my honest review.
Hunter takes place a few years after Reborn, the first book in the trilogy. Lachlan and Aine are still a vital part of the story but the focus is shifting onto Aine's daughter, Eloi, as she starts reaching her potential. She can be impatient, as teenagers can be, and the relationship between the mother and daughter is realistic, even in this paranormal world. The dangers of the Faction continue to grow and the bad guys from Reborn are truly becoming evil. Betrayals, abuse of power and the march towards the inevitable final battle looming ahead of all of them play out well in this next installment. We'll just have to wait for the third book to see it all come together. The writing is tight, the characters strong and the world building well done. Kudos to Cain and Whelan.
Set three years after book one could be a daunting thought but when you have these authors capable of making it seem like no time has passed but things have changed and are still changing makes me appreciate them even more. You know this world but you still have a ton to learn from it and about it!
Aine and Lachlan are still working toward a future of peace-ish (let's be honest, there will still be some fighting) and of course there have to be twists and turns and things that they have to overcome but what is a story without that?
While this was a little slow at times it still kept me engaged (I love big books and world building) and I was still trying to figure out what the end game was.
More characters and more depth make for a good time!
I haven't so caught up and intrigued by a trilogy in a long time and I have to say that this one has conqered me. I love how diverse the characters are , how strong our female lead is and the respect that not only her pack but the other people around her give . My anxiety needs demanding Roland's downfall 😫 😪 😞 but we have to wait for the next book.
All in all I am very happy with what I have read and recommend it to everyone who enjoys a wolf shifter book even if you don't read it , it's good.🥺🥺🥺
Loved this book! It is well written and takes us on an action packed adventure! I love that it picks up a little while after we left off in Reborn, so the characters haven’t changed so much but the relationships have deepened. Aine has been reunited with her tribe with Lachlan by her side. I enjoyed the mother/daughter dynamic between Aine and Eloi. I love a strong FMC and this book has two. New characters are introduced and secrets are revealed. The story does end with a bit of a cliffhanger, so I am anxiously awaiting the next installment. Highly recommend!!
This is book 2 to this series and I need book 3, because there has to be a book 3. It ended on a little bit of a cliff hanger. This book was longer than the first one but way more information and more understanding of what is going with the shifters. Also a new team is introduced. If you like shifter books I highly recommend this one. I have high expectations for book 3 and maybe that is unfair for me to put that on the author, but then maybe the author should not have ended the book the way they did. Read the book.
Wow! Just wow! An exciting sequel to the first book Reborn! From the shocking end in the first book to the unexpected twists and turns in the Hunter. New characters, revealed secrets and mysteries and much more in the Shifters world. It gets really exiting from the start till the end of the book, and leaves you with the question "What will happen next?". Very exciting story, it keeps you glued to your book! A must read like the first book!
This book has a wonderful ‘circle of life’ theme underlying it. Events that happened in book 1 and seemed complete were circled back to in book 2 with a lot more detail/different sides to the story. Lachlan, Aine, and Eloi are well rounded characters with backbones of steel despite being put through the ringer. The world building is epic because of this!! The Authors even make you feel pity for the antihero’s…well at least most of them 🤣
I loved this second installment of the Royal Pack trilogy. I enjoyed getting to know more of Eloi's character. The action was intense, and we meet some new characters that with have a huge impact on the war to come. We also get to learn a little more of the history of the shifters, and it may surprise you. Then, the ending. What a cliffhanger! I am chomping at the bit to be able to read the conclusion to this trilogy!
Great book with a few unexpected plot twists. I love that the authors paid such close attention to detail; there was a particular battle scene where my questions were answered literally as soon as I thought them. The character development is top quality. The plot is steady yet totally engaging. The authors did a great job with the open ended conclusion to this sequel. It will be hard to wait for the next book.
This story took me for such a ride that I do not know if I have the words to describe it! I love reading a book that has events that I did not see coming and this one brings it. I feel that the events in this second book bring an amazing WOW factor to this world and the story. I am so wanting book 3. No Spoilers! I received an ARC from the Authors and I am Leaving this Totally Honest Review Because I Choose to and feel that this is a great story!
Seriously, I am amazed. I am also frustrated, but a good book will do that to you. This book is the fabulous middle book of the Royal Pack Trilogy. And it sucks that I must wait for the final book because I am hanging on by a thread. This book is an emotional roller coaster that has you feeling all the feels. You will not want to put it down. I was given this book as an ARC and I am leaving my honest opinion. Read this series.
Wow what a second read this turned out to be. It’s been a few years since the betrayal and it’s still has hard protecting the pack. The war which should end all wars is upon them. The losses it could have. Thrilling and exciting throughout with amazing characters. I recieved a free arc copy and I’m giving my review freely and honestly
Book 2 in The Royal Pack Trilogy will take you on an amazing journey. From start to finish this book leaves you wanting more. You will learn more about the characters you love and the characters you hate. Once started I could not put it down. I had to find out what happened. Looking forward to when I am able to read the conclusion of this trilogy.
What a great book! I couldn't put it down. It's a second installment and it did not disappoint. It's an amazing adventure where characters have a very important mission and face many obstacles that are in their way. There is a great danger that keeps us on the edge of our seats. The characters and the world itself are well developed. I absolutely loved the mother - teenage daughter relationship which was both adorable and honest. There are some new characters introduced and some plot twists that kept me guessing what is going to happen. The book ends on a cliffhanger! Can't wait to read more!
I really enjoyed all the different dynamics in Hunter! We have our main characters from Reborn; Aine and Lachland and I loved reuniting with them again. We also have Eloi who added an amazing dynamic into the mix. Rolan is back with a vengeance and there’s a whole lot of unexpected aspects that you will not see coming!
“Can’t believe I finished this book so fast! Once I started I was lost in the pages. This series is about the characters each one of them add a reason why things needed to be like that. On going adventure that’s for sure additional to reconnecting with Aine and Lachland too! Can’t wait to continue and read the conclusion of this trilogy.”
With this being a second book, it did take me a few chapters to remember and get the picture in my head of Sumpter, and all the characters again. With that being said, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. We get to see Eloi come into herself more, and growing up. Now I have to wait a few months to get my hands on book three to see how everything comes together.
An action packed sequal to reborn. I was worried that this book wouldn't be as good as the first book, but boy was I wrong. twists and turns everywhere , just when I thought I knew what was going to happen... bam another twist. Straight onto book 3 now, I has a lot to pack into it.
With this book there are definitely characters you love and characters you hate. It's been three years since we've seen everyone and we get to spend more time with Eloi. I thought the book was going to wrap up nicely again and then they threw in a nice little cliffhanger.
Wow what a fantastic part 2 to the story. I really enjoyed this book as it took me on a journey with the characters. This book is part of a trilogy and is not meant to be a stand alone. I received a ARC for an honest review.
