Best one in the Salt Lake City Stallions series so far. I was a little bit scared after the deception I felt reading Tight End. This one though? I liked it even more than the first book. Right from the start, I found myself very invested in this story and rooted for Wendy who had to prove herself as the first woman to be a Defense Coordinator in the NFL. A huge task to accomplish when the team she has to lead doesn't trust her gameplans and keeps questioning her position has their superior.
I loved Wendy. She was so strong and fierce and she knew her worth. Whenever she would have doubts, I thought they were founded and anyone in her position would've felt that way. I felt her frustrations with the team, and yes, this book frustrated me, but in a good way. The best part was that she had her head in the game and she was a super enjoyable heroine to follow. Her only real flaw was the harshness in her words at the start but I put it on the pressure and jealousy that she felt. Other than that, I have nothing bad to say about her. She was human, relatable and resilient...
As for Steve, what a stubborn piece of work. I've never felt so frustrated with a hero in my life! Yet, I loved him. The way he was at the start was infuriating but it all made me more invested. I'm not going to lie, the start was rough and if Steve didn't participate in the bullying, as the Captain of the Defense, he didn't put a stop to it. I thought I wouldn't forgive him, but he did some grovel and showed remorse for not stopping them. Later on, he was protective and caring. It was nice to see him slowly warm up to Wendy, from disliking her to being really attracted and passionate with her.
I think they both had their flaws but they sort of balanced each other. They built a trust that strengthened their chemistry together, as lovers, but also on the field. I really liked them as a couple, they suited each other perfectly. I loved that they had to see each other in secrecy due to conflict of interests. I also appreciated the fact that the author didn't use the cliché ''we can't be together because we got caught and the press is chewing us now'' as a final angst to the story. This book was mainly centered on the angst and pressure within the team rather than its image to the outside world.

Would I recommend this book? Definitely to the people who enjoy sports romances. It was nice to see the defensive side of a Football team rather than the usual offensive (with the quarterback, receiver, running back, etc.) It gave a new perspective that both sides are essential for a team to win, even if one usually gets more praise and is more popular than the other.
Each book in this series could be read as a standalone, but characters from past books make their appearance and interact with the main characters in this story.

It was the problem with being a woman: I couldn’t be meek. I could never show weakness. If a stubborn player gave me attitude, I had to give it right back to him twice as hard. Backing down meant losing their respect forever, and I would never be able to get it back.-Wendy

Third and Long is the third installment within the Salt Lake City Stallions series. Each book definitely followed the same formula for love: secret work romance. Somehow, though, it ended up working for me because I've enjoyed each and every book so far. If I had to pick a favorite child, or book, it would probably be this one.
In this, you will meet Steve and Wendy. He's the hot-tempered Captain of the Defense and she's the new assistant coach for the Defense. At first, he makes an ass out of himself when he assumes she's in the locker room as press. Then things start to get mildly interesting when the guys all assume she doesn't know what she's doing jobwise that is.
They fought constantly and it was pretty frustrating to see them constantly underestimate her knowledge. Yet, with all the tension and bantering feelings were bound to explode. In a good way that is. Definitely enjoyed when they decided to go down the romance route because it was so freaking good.
In the end, I honestly thought there was going to be more drama than we got. It was easily fixed and definitely made things way easier to enjoy and devour. Not exactly sure if there's going to be another book in this series but I wouldn't say no to one.

Obeying Her Rules
I love the flow of the story and the advancing of the timeline. I know I've said this before, but it's worth repeating, I love K.T. Quinn's writing style, and how she easily captures the heart of her characters and is able to convey that to the pages.
OK, another thing that I love, which really popped out in this book, are the simple explanations for football lingo. I'm a football fan, but I could easily recognize how non-fans should be able to follow along without getting lost in the jargon.
Next on my love list is the girl power! It's often understated, but it's there. Wendy is an anomaly in this male dominated sport, being one of two females at her level in the history of the league initially, and then paving the way for more women as her skills are brought into the spotlight. (BTW - definitely find the bonus epilogue. She's not done breaking barriers!)
Despite his early mutinies, Steve has a heart of gold that gets a chance to shine on and off the field. I adore the little things he does, going out of his way to quietly and without expectations make things better for others. ❤🐻🤗🏏
It is a slow burn. When Wendy's rule is lifted, things REALLY heat up. 🔥🔥 It's slow, fast, hard, and gentle. A little something for everyone! There are also plenty of moments of truth and humor.

(audiobook) It wasn’t bad at all. At least I loved many of the topics and themes written here.
My favorite part was the whole lot of football. And it was an essential element of the story–Wendy is a coach and, at first, Steve doesn’t agree with her strategies, so there’s a lot of conflict going on about the sports itself. To be honest, I didn’t understand most of it BUT I also hate it when there’s barely any scene on the turf in a sports romance.
The behind the scene was also important, as the author uses the casual misogyny in sports as the main theme. Between the previous coaches harrassing girls, the reason why Wendy has been hired, and the lack of support she receives from the team, it’s basically the raison d’être of the story.
To counterbalance it, and offer a bit of hope to female readers I suppose, there’s some underlying feminism going on too. Wendy is definitely competent, and she never hesitates to show her skills. And she has some support around her, especially men. Definitely allies. And once the sexual harrassment becomes obvious, most of the guys on the team don’t hesitate to fight against it. Of course, we’d all love for men to be against any form of misogyny, so the fact that they refuse to acknowledge Wendy’s skills at first is frustrating, but it’s kind of realistic that they at least are against any form of violence against women when they still think sports isn’t their place. Work in progress.
The romance was okay. The power balance between Steve and Wendy was interesting. The secret part of the relationship, I could understand. The context certainly influences the way the love story develops. There was just enough heat, and a good deal of feelings.
The narrators were good. I didn’t like the female narrator’s male voice though–all men sounded the same, and old–and she did most chapters. The male narrator, who was better, didn’t have a lot. Overall it was still okay though.

I feel like all 3 book in this series have been, secret work romances... I know the storyline is different but they are just the same book written a different way.
I liked the book, it was nice but not something that was all consuming and it took awhile to read it.

If you’d told me that I would enjoy a book about American football so much when, as a Brit, I know absolutely nothing about American football I would never have believed you. The writer does a brilliant job of making this story interesting despite what I’m going to assume is a lot of technical language (she could have made it all up for all I know). The balance between this being about sport and being about a relationship is very well done. Add to that a strong female lead and an acknowledgment of power dynamics and I’m all in.
The characters have a good amount of depth to them, it’s not perfect but I did finish it in a day so that says a lot. The tension between the two characters is palpable and I enjoyed how long it took their relationship to blossom but once the sex started I was a bit like “we get it, they have a lot of sex”. Still, at least it was fairly well written (there is a personal bugbear in the use of the word “sex” to describe lady parts. Just feels a bit old school and not very sexy).
I’m all about the lack of drama too, so bonus points for that. I’m going with a solid 3.8 👌🏻

I thoroughly enjoyed reading the story about Wendy Gardner, who was a high school football coach that was recruited by the Salt Lake City Stallions football team as the defensive assistant coordinator and then promoted later to the defensive coordinator and Steve Cooper who was the starting outside linebacker on the Salt Lake City Stallions football team.
I couldn’t put the book down from the moment I’ve picked it up and I simply fell in love with Wendy and to how she dealt with being a first female defence coordinator for the Salt Lake City football team. I really enjoyed how Steve went from hating Wendy and the changes she brought about for the team, until they developed a good friendship which then turned into a romance. A very enjoyable story which drew me in so that I laughed and I cried and rejoiced with the team at the end.

I love all things K.T. Quinn and "Third and Long" is no exception. There are so many great things about K.T. Quinn's writing and this story. "Third and Long" has become may favorite book in this series. The characters are fantastic and the story is fabulous. I was drawn in from the start and did not want to put it down. Since it is the third book in the series there are many familiar character and it is fun to see their lives evolve. The book has everything you want, the characters and the story are well written, there are so many laugh out loud moments and the football games keep you on the edge of your seat as if they were actual games. One of my favorite things about this series is while it takes place in the world of professional football, the female leads are completely relatable and bad a$$.

Tension So Good…
No one writes sports romances quite like K T Quinn. This tension during the big games is so intense, I wish I was wearing a mouth guard to protect my clenched teeth! In the previous two books, the Stallions make it to the AFC finals and the Super Bowl respectively, so if this book ended with anything less than a win, I think I may have screamed.
I loved loved loved Wendy; sports romances often include the theme of how things will look bad for her if things go south, but none had more to lose then Wendy, and I’m just so in awe of her glass ceiling smash. This series of books just keeps getting better, with more extensive football seasons and even higher stakes - I simply can’t wait to see what’s in store next!

I just adore this series. I love that Wendy is that strong kick-butt woman who has great work ethics and not afraid to go for what she wants and stands up for what she believes in. to be honest, it took me a while to believe that Steve is good for her, as he truly disappointed me in the beginning though he got much better as the book went on. There was great chemistry between the characters, and I loved the glimpses of past characters and what they are up to now. This is such a fun series to read and I can't wait for the next one!

Too much football - read on KU
These books really are average at best. This one was better than the first two in that the lines felt less forced, less cheesy, less immature. However, every book has had something thst would just never happen. No one would hire a female high school coach as an assistant defensive coach for an NFL team. Maybe 20 years from now. But unlikely then, as no one would hire a male high school coach straight into the NFL.
A huge percentage of people meet their spouses at work, so that part is quite plausible. And to be around all those hot men every day would make most women at least enjoy the eye candy. However, two coaches in a row were fired for sending inappropriate texts, including d pics, and she then sends images of her own. They weren't as graphic, by far, but still. How stupid can you be? Even recording your relationship at all through texts was irresponsible. (This is a pit of a picky thing but I hate how this author does text conversations. She makes the font huge instead of going bold like most authors do. I think she also uses Italics for the voice on the other side of phone calls, which is also annoying. Especially when also using Italics for flash backs.)
I never thought I would read a romance with too much focus on football, but this one hit that level. The first 52% of the book is almost all football and thoughts from one of the two. It is an extreme slow burn. A good portion of the at work chapters could have been cut out.
The author does an excellent job with football, though. I won't say every aspect is accurate, but it's the best I've ever read, and I do love this sub-genre.
This author needs to ditch the exclamation points! They make her come across like a teenager girl! Could I make my point any clearer?!? They were worse in the first two books.
If you have read the last two books, you'll be happy to know this doesn't end with the same scenario at the Halloween party. This book ends in July. No proposal.
This book had a decent teasing edge to it, but I wouldn't call any of the books in this series hot. In general, there aren't many sex scenes and the ones that exist are pretty boring.
I'm probably going to finish this series because it's easier than finding something new to read. (I read about a book a day, so it gets hard to find new material.) I don't think I'll read anything by her outside this series. I don't recommend this series if you are limited on time and need to get the best value for the time you do have to read. If you are like me, and spend hours a day reading, there are worse things to read. I would recommend reading on KU and not purchasing to anyone.

Wendy is a high school coach that is recruited to be the assistant defensive coordinator. She is chosen because of her skills for bringing the best out of the team she works with and making the team a winner. She goes to work with the Stallions and its an uphill battle from the start. None of the players want to try a new defense play and want to keep using the same plays. Its not until yet another scandal beaks out within the team that Wendy gets her chance to coach. Steve is the Captain of the team and he wasn't on board with what she wanted at first either. enemies to secret lovers!!
You have to love a strong independent women and there is no one like Wendy!!
I felt for Wendy when everyone was undermining her but she stood her ground which finally gave her the respect she deserved in a “man’s” world
Steve is so two faced to start with, he plays Wendy like a fiddle and keeps the team from cooperating and going against her game plans!
When everyone realised that Wendy isn’t going any where and that she is actually really good at her job .. tension rises but not in the team but between Wendy & Steve - what happens when your enemy becomes the one you can’t stop thinking about???
A really exciting, gripping read which I throughly enjoyed and can’t wait to see what comes next!!

Entertaining!!!
Third and Long is the third book in the Salt Lake City Stallions series. This is the story of Wendy Gardner and Steve Cooper. I really enjoyed this story of a woman who gets a once in a lifetime chance to fulfill her career dreams but things don't quite go according to how she had thought they would. Then add in a player who is about to make things long and hard and you get the idea.
This is another wonderful book in this series. The books do build on each other as the series progresses and there is some character crossover. I am so enjoying this series and Third and Long is most definitely not a long shot....but a game winning touchdown.

In this book we meet Wendy Gardner & Steve Cooper. The Stallions have just lost their defensive head coach and the man they have chosen to replace him wants Wendy to be his assistant. Little did she know what that would lead to. From the moment Steve sees Wendy he knows he wants her. The problem is from the moment she speaks he knows there will be trouble. Can two people who should have never been together find a HEA or will this just be a good stress reliever for a season?

Am loving this series but I think this might be my favourite. Wendy & Steve's hate love relationship had me frustrated with the way the players including Steve behaved towards her when she first started & I wanted to just tell them to man up & do what she said. Their relationship became friendly over time both wanting each other but trying to deny it until things got a bit more flirty, sassy then steamy & I couldn't wait for the time when they went all in for how much they wanted & meant to each other to themselves & publicly.

Continuing with the Salt Lake City stallions series, K T Quinn has created another winner. Third and long is the story of Cooper and Wendy. Wendy becomes an assistant defensive coordinator on the team that Steve Cooper is the veteran linebacker. A female in a man's world is not well received and Wendy has to fight to be taken seriously. Neither wants to cross the barrier of a relationship in a high profile NFL world. Really well written with believable emotion and characters.

Good story not really a whole lot of unnecessary drama. Wendy came in as assistant defense coordinator for the SLC Stallions and immediately wasn't trusted or listened to by the players. When a scandal breaks that the defense coordinator had been sending inappropriate pictures to the cheerleaders Wendy is given the position. It takes a while for the guys to trust her but she brings them into a winning season and all the while her and Steve are falling deeper in love.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I like how Wendy broke the glass ceiling in a male dominated field. It was tough at first but she gets the trust of the team and with Steve's help, they win the Super Bowl. It was a slow build relationship between Wendy and Steve. I like how Steve defended their relationship both to his team and then to the management.

No Defense Against Love 5 stars. - This is the most enjoyable of the three books in the series so far. The conflicts in the story are believable. Wendy and Stevie has chemistry even during the slow burn phase. The book brought up valid concerns about breaking the glass ceiling. The defensive plays that Wendy and Stevie have to do on and off the field added spice, steam and excitement to the story. I like the ending too. I read an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I really like these books but please understand you need to work phrases we don’t call it south utah it’s southern utah and maryvales does not have a secondary school that is in juction it’s called piute high school I had family that attended that school but it is a good series just try to understand where your writing about

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. Steve and Wendy are a bit from enemies to lovers. Skeptical Steve including his defensive buddies don't hold much towards her. Someone who only coached high-schoolers and a woman for that matter. But Wendy slowly has them in her pocket. Great story.

Loved the other 2 books in this series. Loved the storyline. Loved the characters. Loved the authors writing style. Loved the ending. BUT I just found this one a little slow for me. It started to a drag a little in the middle but I desperately wanted to find out what happens so I just skipped to the end. Can’t wait for the next one.

I loved this story! Third instalment in the series and just getting better each time. Wendy and Steve have a great journey; starting out at odds with each other, and ending up on the same page. I read it in one sitting. Make sure you have time to finish it before you start.

Love wants what it wants! Sometimes you just have to give in,and let see what happens. Steve, and Wendy couldnt fight it
It was so good to read a story with so much actual football involved.some sports romance stories it wouldn't hardly know it was a sport story other than the name . I would like to compliment the auther!!!!

Yet again, another winning book from this author. Been waiting for this third book in the series and certainly didn't disappoint. A real feel good book. Can't wait for book court now.

I really like KT Quinns writing style, there is a good balance of sports jargon without being too much. I liked that the scenes away from the stadium felt natural and not set up to force any relationship. .

This book took me a little while to get into, mainly because I thought the male main character was an ass at the beginning.
He did redeem himself as did many of his teammates.
