JUST ABOUT AS GOOD AS IT GETS FOR A WESTERN MYSTERY SUSPENSE THRILLER
☆☆☆☆☆
Snapp vs. Snapp: A Blood Hounds Novel (The Blood Hounds Book 4) by Ron Schwab is a well written Western Mystery that will keep your interest throughout with intriguing brain spinning situations, characters which you will be hooked on and either cheering for the good guys or applauding when bad guys are brought to justice.
This book is a little different than the first three in this series and with the main character being Audra, who was in the previous three books but was not the main character. With Audra being on assignment from the Pinkerton Agency through her partnership with Trace and Darby Crockett and the Crockett Detective Agency.
That being said, Ron Schwab has written his character Audra into a role where she places her life on the line to solve the case and protect her clients. In doing so, she meets up with characters in previous books by Ron Schwab and brings more insight into this strong, intelligent, and determine young lady in a world of gunslingers, a crooked Sheriff, and a family that is beyond messed up when it comes to what a family should be.
You might want to start at the bring of Ron Schwab's works and move your way through each book and series from the first published since though the stories change along with some of the characters, but some if not most are carried from one to the next. That being said, you can still pick up with any book or series and still fallow through easily enough.
Ron Schwab is definitely an author that I have become a real fan of his stories. He writes with a voice that leaves you feeling like you, too, are part of the story like a figure in the background watching and listening to the story unfold.
I have always enjoyed Ron Schwab as a writer. His stories are well written and I always end up reading late into the night because I just can't put it down! Thumbs up to this four book series.
Read the Bloodhound series. What an enjoyable set of books. Ron Schwab is now my favorite author of westerns. He really creates a story line with such interesting characters that intertwined with each other making me unable to put the books down for long.
I've always loved a good western. I finished my Uncle Buddy's Zane Grey Collection by the time I was nine or ten, so I cut my teeth on book series, as well. I cannot recommend the Blood Hounds series strongly enough.
My Dad (1915-1989) was the son of parents who were both divorced when they met, and after the birth of Dad and his baby sister, they divorced each other. When I learned that history, I knew divorce was rare and difficult in those times, the late 19th/early 20th century but I had no real idea of just HOW difficult it was. That said, I thoroughly enjoyed Snapp vs Snapp. My only disappointment is that it was the last of the Blood Hounds series. Ron Schwab is one of my favorite western authors at the moment, and he has more series I haven't read, so that's ok - but I wouldn't mind reading more about his Blood Hound folk. Just sayin'. If you haven't read them, give them a shot - they are on Kindle Unlimited or are very reasonable in electronic format. Reviewed on December 30, 2023 at Goodreads, AmazonSmile, Barnes&Noble and Kobo. A real detective story filled with action and love. In the end, the reader must learn what the end really was. A unputdownable saga and I loved evert word. This book let me escape my reality of losing my wife of 46 plus years just over a year ago. I would wake up at night and read to escape my mourning thoughts. Reading Schwab books has been my medicine when mourning was too great. Thank you for your wonderful stories and writings.
I did enjoy this book. It’s the characters that are the primary driver for this. I thought the plot was decent enough. I believe it could have been stronger. Now this is just for my preferences. For a western, as for most westerners, I think this was lacking in scene settings; at least those that would truly invoke being in the old West. There are too many opportunities to bring in sounds and smells. I’ve got to believe that towns were both noisy and stinky. Lastly, I felt I was cheated out of closure for Herman the stable boy who, who deserved some books and money for his contribution to the story ending. Thanks
Good storyline, as well as a continuation of the Bloodhounds series giving closure to one of the original characters. This was a good story, but seemed to lack the polish of the original books in this series, due to the storyline being hurried. Almost as if the story just needed to be finished and put away. I am a fan of Ron Schwab and have loved all his books, however this one was not as stellar!
The first couple of chapters I almost quit reading .......
I started reading and I don't know what it was but I thought I hate the way this is written. Then I kept reading and I'm glad I did. This is a good story that has twist and turns, mystery, sordid affairs, men who think they are God's gift to women, women who think the same of themselves. I am glad I finished it. Enjoy the book, I did. Thanks Mr Schwab.
I've read all of his books and most of them have been five star or better. This book falls a little short. While some of the characters are interesting, I felt that the storyline needed fleshing out with more nuances in key scenes. Intrigue and suspense which are paramount in most of his novels were minimal. I feel certain Mr. Schwab will rebound in his next book.
I think I've read all of Ron's books . So I'll go back and read a few again . This author cannot write his books fast enough now that I've read them all. After this one I have to say I liked it the best. Well that leaves me to rereading his work again. Thanks for all the entertainment Ron.
I enjoyed this book. It is not your typical western. The setting is in Nebraska which is different and all the plot involves just two towns with one of them p!aging a minor role.. It also reinforced the idea that we all have skeletons in our closets that have no bearing or control of our present life.
Enjoyed the cats, I am a great animal lover. I thought that was awesome taking his cat to work and back every day in his own buggy. Also thought Chester was great being a protector of his misses. Thought they added drama to the story and most of all liked the ending. Sort of felt sorry for Libby in the end. Would recommend... Tweety🐦🐦
I have read all of Mr. Schwab books and enjoyed each book. I especially liked this book. I will be checking to see when his new books are released. Keep up the wonderful writing.
Ron Schwab is a great storyteller. Plus, it's obvious he's got a good heart and likes cats. Dogs, too, ok. But this is just one more in a series of highly entertaining, and I dare say even educational, books that leave the reader feeling good at the end.
I enjoyed this book very much. I couldn't wait to get back to reading it when I had to put it down. The story was well written and kept my interest. The character development were very well defined and were very well displayed in the story.
Totally entertaining reading this wonderful western story. For me Ron Schwab is the number one western rider today. In this book, I especially enjoyed hearing how corrupt the law department was .
This story is not directly pertaining to Darby and hubby. It's an interesting mystery that took me a while to figure out the villain might be. I enjoyed it.
This book was so good! I loved the storyline and the cats both really added to it! I laughed so hard at him and the baby carriage! Loved that his dad was working so hard to stop drinking too! Perfect ending!
Just finished the fourth of the Blood Hounds novels. All four were a delight to read. Interesting characters, lots of action. These were page turners and very addictive with many plots and sub-plots. Highly recommended if you enjoy westerns with female leads.
I'm always disappointed when I'm finished reading a story like these four books. They are good books to read and I wish there was more. I will look for more books from this author.
I loved Audra’s story a lot. Loved Ari for her. I did wonder about Clay and I also would like to hear about Brady (Trouble). The author makes us love and know the characters in his books so let’s not forget them! More Trace and Darby please.
Iwaxso glad they added this book to the Blood Hoindsseries and hope that they do even more. This was such a unique tale that I could hardly stop turning the pages. Well written.
A wonderful hit! Surprisingly different and well written western genre that kept you interested from chapter to chapter without a bunch of shootin and horse chasing. Main character wasn’t even a cowboy. Loved it!
This was a welcome read to the series (I hope there are additional stories planned for the Crockett Detective Agency. Although Audra has found her partner in Ari, there are still questions regarding Mattie and the others that have joined the agency.
