Contains extreme gore and violence. Wally loves Christmas and when the checkout lady doesn't take his expired coupon he looses his holiday cheer. Get ready for a goretastick, wild ride! Fun and exciting and hilarious. A fast holiday treat you won't want to stop reading.
I took a deep dive into vampire lore when I was developing my Preternatural trilogy. But you know one thing that I never considered? If they enjoyed Christmas, like our sweet, bloodsucking lead here, Wally. His only weakness was that he cared too much. And boy oh boy was he one sassy, charismatic vampire. And he just wanted to make it the best holiday to date. If only it wasn’t for his overenthusiastic neighbor who outshined him and a feisty cashier, Roberta, who wanted revenge, he would have been in his way towards making that a reality. Fruit cakes flew, shotgun blasts sounded off into the winter night, expiration dates written on corpse foreheads with sharpies, and all hell broke loose. So Wally is the heart of this story, as he should’ve been. A really fantastic character. He had some amazing dialogue throughout that made me laugh out loud. Like he was more concerned with Christmas than being a vampire and it somehow worked extremely well. More comedy than horror, but it still kept some of the latter’s core ideas intact. I guess that I wanted some more from Kermit, Maybellene, and Molly Fitzpatrick. They were all side characters who needed some more time on these pages. But other than a few minor critiques, this was a really enjoyable, fun-filled, and still spooky holiday joyride.
A vampire who loves Christmas... yes please! This is my 2nd read from this author and she does not disappoint. It's a great mix of humour and gore for the holiday season
I adore Wally! This was such a fun book to read. You can't help but smile at Wally's antics. This author is so good at building characters that are horrific and hilarious. I really can't wait for more of Wally's adventures!
I freaking loved it. I couldn't put it down and my laundry suffered while reading but very great for all the Christmas background. Any demon who loves Christmas is great in my book. I also really enjoyed the chase between him and Roberta that didn't just stop at the store. That is what I think made the book. Can't wait to read it again for next holiday season
Penny Moonz is in the Christmas bag with this one. Creeperslandia is two for two for me so far.
Wally wants to finish off his Christmas decorations, so he does what any other person would do and goes to the store to buy more. That is when he falls in love with a huge nutcracker that he absolutely must have for his house. When he gets to the register, Roberta breaks the bad news that Wally does not have enough money. That is when the rivalry to end all Christmas rivalries begins. The only problem is that Wally is a vampire. Who will win this?
I love Christmas centered horror, but I think I have decided that I love Wally even more. I need more Wally in my life. He is hilarious, mean, and nasty, but somehow cares deeply about the Christmas spirit. In a book that feels like the Christmas version of Steven Spielberg’s Duel, Penny finds a way to keep the horror flowing, the gore goring, and make you laugh the entire time. A perfect romp in the vampire world with literally all the Christmas feels.
Who knew that a vampire like Wally could love Christmas so much? He is determined to have the best decorations on the block in order to top his neighbor. However, when he tries to buy a huge Nutcracker to complete his decorations, the cashier refuses to let him use a coupon (which is 15 years old!). Then, the fun begins!
This short read is full of gruesome body horror, gore and revenge, but is also laugh out loud funny! Both Wally and his nemesis, Roberta, are on the warpath and it's a race to see who wins!
The narrator did a fantastic job and his screechy voice for Wally will live in my head for a long time. This is the perfect read for the horror fan who loves a good mix of humor along with the horror.
This is a warm and cozy Christmas novella. It's uniquely written with believable characters. The main character, Wally, has vibes of a Bad Little Nick the Adam Sandlers character in Little Nicky 2000.
I assumed a Xmas book by Penny Moonz would be a wild ride and I was right. Wally has got to be one of the funniest characters to focus on during Xmas and I would expect no less from Moonz. This book reads like What We do in the Shadows draped in gore and Xmas lights. K thx.
Great Halloween read Wally is a character he loves Christmas and wants to have the best decoration. Just don't stop him or get in his way, especially if he had ate
