Another manhwa to devour. Finished the first volume. It was very cute. Leslie's really cute. The characters are all awesome. I'm still waiting for the romancin' but am not sure if that's gonna happen so we'll proceed to the next one.

Leslie is a white-haired, purple-eyed 12-year-old who suffered abuse from her biological family. Born and raised to be a sacrifice to her eldest sister, Eli, she was constantly tormented and even forced into a burning building. In an attempt to live, she plots to become the daughter of the monster duchess.
Truthfully, my heart broke for Leslie the entire she was stuck with her biological family. The way she was treated by them, let alone their staff. However, it was quickly molded as you watch the development between the duchess, her family, and Leslie.
The duchess is a complete badass. The father is literally a big softie. Both her brothers are incredible in their own ways too. Also, her potential love interest is adorable as well.
There were a few concerns that Leslie would become a Mary Sue type character, however, she is not.
I am stoked for the second season! All in all, I am really enjoying this series.

Bom, representando toda a série, depois da tristeza que foi aquela bagunça "de sei lá como a mina foi parar na casa do duque", UM WEBTOON BOM É REFRECANTE, obrigada Deus! A história é puro trauma e infantil, found family, ação e uma pitadinha de romance. Muito bom, procrastinei coisas da faculdade pra ler. Recomendo.

I loved every second of it! The art is beautiful, the story is intriguing and the characters feel like their own people... Leslie's relationship with her new family is lovely and full of fun and genuinely ssd moments (the ginger giant dad is def a highlight thou i love them all!)

́Les dessins sont très beaux, le coloriage très réussi.
L'histoire est intéressante (j'avais hâte de le commencer et de me replonger dedans!!).
Leslie est super cute puis elle est attachante. Elle montre une force de caractère supérieure à son âge et c'est une des raisons pourquoi elle est aimée.
Le premier livre fait en sorte que nous désirons la suite.
Les autres personnages sont également prometteurs.
J'ai hâte de lire la suite :)

5 ⭐ (whole series).
When I went into this series, I was hoping for a beautiful romance—and I got it. However, I didn't expect to be hit by a consuming and gripping storyline about a young child, attempting to escape her 'fate' as a sacrifice—seeking the Monster Duchess for help.
From that point? Just a child growing, learning, surviving, LIVING and being adopted by the seemingly monster Duchess and her family. She gains a mother, a father, and two older brothers. And this? This was my favourite part. The found family in this entire Manwha is the most heartwarming thing I've read in a long time. There's a sense of love and protection that made me excited for EVERY page. I wanted more and more scenes with Leslie and her new family. I don't even think I have enough words to describe how... endearing, welcoming, safe... THIS Manwha can make you feel.
Of course, there is also romance—coming much later (but with traces here and there) as Leslie is a mere 8 year old when the series start. And that romance? The sweetest ever. Conrad (sometimes translated as Konrad instead) was not just Leslie's first friend, but someone who taught her new things, who encouraged her, who offered his shoulder before he offered his heart.
Absolute masterpiece.

I understand now why this is such a highly recommended manhwa.
This is a rare gem in a sea of manhwas with terrible family members and although I prefer reading stories with older characters, Leslie (FL) who is 12 at the start of the story is so lovable. She was born for the sole reason to be a sacrifice to strengthen her older sister's powers and because of this, everyone in the house of Sperado - her "family" and even the servants, mistreated and abused her from the day she was born. She was 12 years old but she was malnourished and looked more like a 7 or 8 year old. On the day she was to be sacrificed, she miraculously survived and even became a shadow mage, an immensely powerful one at that. And from that day onwards, she realised that she had never been loved at all and thus no longer strove to get the her "family" to accept and love her.
Which is how she managed to meet the Duke Salvator, and what a pleasant surprise it was when I found out that the Duke Salvator was a woman, when a Duke in manhwas is typically a man. The Duke Salvator was rumoured to be a monstrous duke but in fact the real monsters were Leslie's own blood related family. The Duke accepted Leslie as her daughter and I absolutely loved the process of Leslie being integrated into the Salvator family.
Her two older brothers, Bethraon and Ruenti took a while to warm up to her, while her father, Cyraine immediately took a liking to her since he had always wanted a daughter but instead got Beth and Enti. The way she was accepted wholly not only by the Salvator family but also by everyone working under the Salvator family was so heartwarming and there were some hilarious moments too. They were protective of her and definitely did their best to avenge her, but then again, Leslie's original family consisted of a bunch of ignorant people who didn't make very good villains. It was kind of frustrating how stupid her original family members were but even so, they had some powerful backers so although I was hoping they would be gone for good by the end of S1, unfortunately it looks like I'll be seeing more of them in S2.
What I like the most so far about this manhwa is the family dynamics in the Salvator family but I have to say that I didn't like how they sometimes infantalised (?) her. I get that she was small but she was also 12 years old at the time while they were treating her as if she was 5 instead. It was a little odd to say the least. And as far as characterisation goes, none of the characters are very compelling at the moment but I do admire Duke Salvator and how progressive she is. One of my favourite things she told Leslie is that a woman doesn't need to get married to be happy. And as for romance? I was glad that there wasn't any because I wouldn't have liked reading about any type of developing romance involving a 12 year old, thank you very much. But luckily Conrad (ML?ish) doesn't seem to be a bad guy and he has even gone out of his way to help Leslie out however he could.
Thank god for the timeskip at the end of S1. Leslie is finally 16 and she doesn't look like such a child anymore, so I'm assuming that the focus in S2 will be more on the developing the romance between her and Conrad.

Aku tipe pembaca yang memilih cerita berdasarkan sinopsis. Jujur saja, saat aku membaca sinopsis cerita ini, aku sempat takut ini akan menjadi cerita reinkarnasi seperti yang sebelum-sebelumnya. Tapi saat membaca episode 1, aku berubah pikiran.
The Monster Duchess and The Contract Princess memiliki adegan pembuka yang luar biasa. Baru chapter pertama saja sudah membuatku penasaran dengan kelanjutannya. Setelah melihat adegan terakhir di chapter pertama, aku berpikir, mungkin ini bukan cerita reinkarnasi.
Aku suka bagaimana cerita ini mengungkap karakter-karakter penting. Plotnya juga tidak terasa lambat ataupun terlalu cepat. Aku merasa tiga chapter pertama ini sangat penting dalam menyampaikan informasi dasar.
Selain itu, aku suka dengan cara author dan ilustrator memberi informasi penting yang berkaitan dengan plot cerita. Informasi-informasi ini tidak langsung dikeluarkan dalam satu-dua adegan secara berurutan, melainkan ada jeda beberapa adegan dari satu informasi ke informasi lainnya. Terkadang informasi penting ini juga dipaparkan dalam bentuk dialog. Misalnya, Leslie bertanya sesuatu pada salah satu karakter. Kemudian karakter tersebut akan menjelaskan jawabannya. Setiap jawaban tersebut menjadi petunjuk mengenai konflik apa yang akan dihadapi Leslie di chapter-chapter berikutnya. Cara ini juga membuat alur cerita mengalir secara natural.

La nota son 2,5 estrellas, pero redondeo hacia abajo porque, aunque no es que sea una obra mala, está muy desaprovechada y al final no resuelve bien los nudos que plantea. Se insinúan un montón de temas muy chulos de conspiraciones entre la nobleza, sacrificios humanos con tal de mantener el poder de las familias y plagas... y nada de eso se trata en profundidad. Las ideas están ahí, pero no tienen desarrollo. Todo se menciona por encima y se solventa rápido y sin entrar realmente en el tema. Esta una obra muy superficial en la que te dicen que las cosas son chungas, pero nunca llegas a verlo ni se desarrolla nada en profundidad. Una lástima porque es potencial estaba ahí para una obra dark fantasy buena, pero se queda en una historia olvidable del montón en la que no te cuentan casi nada y, de pronto, te enteras de pasada de que algo interesante ha ocurrido mientras la historia se enfocaba en otras cosas sin importancia.

The one Manhwa I will definitely visit again. Its beautiful story of a little girl living amongst people who don't like her, mistreat her and misuse her. So, she takes matters in her hands. She asks the Monstrous Duke (yep! WOMAN) to adopt her and in turn lil one will help them with her powers. However, the Duke & her family is super awesome. All they want for her is to grow up with love and be able to control her powers. She gets two super-hot-cute & loving brothers along with an amazing dotting on his daughter adoptee-father & mother.
Of course she meets her future mate soon too. Their love story is sweet but a bit rushed for me. I wish the author took more time to develop their love story slowly.
If you are fed up with manhwa's where the FL is weak or is mistreated by her family and treated well in her transgression etc. this is the manhwa for you. Where the FL is strong. Her family is the most amazing family. Her to be love -one of the sweetest that you will wish he got more screentime.

This is sooo cute! Leslie is so dang fluffy and adorable. 💖💖 Leslie is 12, looks 7, and everyone treats her like a baby! I'm not complaining, she deserves all the love in the world.
This is about a girl named Leslie who is treated like trash. Her family abuses her mentally and physically. All Leslie wants is to be loved by her parents and sister but they despise her. After something extremely awful happens Leslie can no longer forgive her family and instead decides to take matter into her own hands. She decides to find someone to adopt her and help her get revenge on her family. So she decides to ask help from the Salvatore family. ...........
I love all the characters. Especially the Duchess and Beth. (High key have a crush on Beth)
I gave this 3 star because although I enjoy this story and will continue reading it, it isn't something I'll miss while I wait for the next chapter. Plus, I prefer a lot of romance in manhwa and this doesn't have it. I still totally recommend!

Ceritanya segar. Saya suka dengan tokoh FL yang berkeinginan kuat seperti Leslie, tapi perkembangan ceritanya agak pelan. Beberapa kali konflik yang ada tidak begitu menantang. Saya mengharapkan kebangkitan kekuatan atau pembalasan yang setimpal atas kejahatan para antagonis, tapi masih belum terlihat.

Ayant déjà lu ce titre en scantrad sur le net, je l'avais adoré et j'avais hâte qu'il sorte enfin en version papier. C'est chose faite depuis cet automne.
Le personnage de Leslie est adorable, mignon comme tout et volontaire. Cela dit par moment j'ai l'impression d'une dichotomie entre un personnage très mature et un enfant. A noter que la phrase d'accroche "sous ses airs d'ange, son cœur est noir, la vengeance sa seule issue" est trompeuse. Elle est très TRES loin d'avoir un cœur noir, bien au contraire. Et la vengeance plus une volonté qu'une issue.
Ce premier tome pose les bases de l'histoire et les personnages principaux. Je dirais qu'il sera l'un des plus durs de la série.
A raison de 16 chapitres par tome, il faudra sans doute 12 voir 13 tomes au total.
