My cat Rhiannon and I run Seashell Cove's only bookshop, though it’s a toss-up which of us is actually boss, with a ghost called Biff jockeying for position, too. Think that's strange? Trust me, we're not the strangest things in Seashell Cove. Haunted inns? Cranky gnomes? Centaurs that dance around in the forest just outside town? Yeah. Our little town has it all…
But there's been an all-too-recent death at the Historic Kelpie Inn, the ghosts are in an uproar, and those centaurs? I think they know something, but aren't telling. What's a witch to do? Guess I'll gather up my trusty, D&D playing boyfriend, my inscrutable cat, and the rest of my ragtag bunch of friends. We must get to the bottom of this death… before it's the death of us all.

TT. Thorn Coyle has been arrested at least four times. Buy her a cup of tea or a good whisky and she'll tell you about it.
A salty-tongued, tattooed mystic, Thorn is author of the alt-history urban fantasy series The Panther Chronicles, the novel Like Water, and two short story collections. The Witches of Portland will be out in Spring, 2018. She has also written multiple non-fiction books including Sigil Magic for Writers, Artists & Other Creatives, Kissing the Limitless, and Evolutionary Witchcraft. Thorn's work appears in many anthologies, magazines, and collections.
She has taught magical practice in nine countries, on four continents, and in twenty-five states. Her other occupations have been numerous, and include working four years each on the Pacific Stock Options floor (as a young Anarchist punk with a blue, flat-top Mohawk), in a woman-run peep show, and full time in the San Francisco soup kitchen she ended up volunteering at for twenty years. All of this, along with her activism, informs her fiction.
An interloper to the Pacific Northwest, Thorn joyfully stalks city streets, writes in cafes, and talks to crows, squirrels, and trees.
It was such a fun, lighthearted read in between some of my heavier books. Cozy definitely describes this mystery! I found myself craving a hot tea every time I sat down to read. ❤️
Another amazing mystery in the Seashell cove series ! I turned to this book for a palette cleanse in between books and just like the first book in the series I couldn't put it down and continue any other book till I finished it. Highly recommend for anyone who wants a nice enticing mystery read !
4.25/5 ⭐ This was a great cozy fantasy mystery. I felt it was better paced than the first book and the character development felt more in line with the time frame of the story. The cat has more page time, which I was also wanting more of. It keeps me guessing and was an enjoyable continuation. I'll definitely read the next in the series.
