Trapped between two monsters, she must choose one to trust. With her beloved father killed in battle and rumors that her cousin murdered their mother to take the lead, "desperate" does not even begin to describe Rhona McCarron's situation. The brave lass is determined to fight against her power-hungry cousin, but when he threatens to kill her younger sisters, Rhona has no choice but to comply with his will.
However, his devious plan surpasses her worst nightmares; not only does she have to marry a Laird, but she must murder him a couple of days later! To make things even worse, Laird Duncan McGregor, the man who must die by her hand if she wants to see her sisters alive again, is not a total stranger to her.
Rhona has heard rumors of the towering red-headed Scott who is built like a warrior. People say he rules his clan fairly but is prone to war and violence and as soon as the lass sees Laird Duncan, she wonders how she will ever be able to kill this beast. But to her surprise, the Laird is not as ferocious as he looks, and many of the violent actions of his clan are not his fault.
Rhona knows that killing Duncan will make her evil cousin even more powerful and contemplates helping her new husband fight his enemies to gain his trust. Could the two find a way to get rid of the snakes that poison their clans from within, or is Rhona simply endangering her sisters in vain by delaying Duncan's killing?
Good book with good characters. Rhonda is sent to marry and killed laird Duncan so that her cousin get get his lands. but Rhona falls in love with Duncan. the story has intrique , mystery and love. Would have liked to seen a little more romance and maybe an extended epilogue to see what happened to her cousin and a litre ahead to the future for Duncan and Rhona. Would recommend as a good read. Duncan and Rhona had their HEA

A story that went by too quickly. The characters were very entertaining and likable. The storyline was intriguing, Rhona was promised in marriage by her cousin, but she was informed that she had to murder her intended or her sisters would die. Unfortunately she falls in love with Duncan. Now what is she to do?
This was a 5 star book, except for the spelling/grammatical errors..."Padded" instead of patted; "laid" instead of lie; and many others I lost track of. I really enjoyed the story itself, but was slightly distracted by the editing errors. Would recommend the book, however.
This was a good story but not a lot of excitement. Lady Rhona’s father died and her cousin became Laird. He decides to marry her off to another clan and have her kill the laird so he can take over. But will she be able to kill him to save her sisters?
I read this book before but there has been some revisions. The poison was never served to him where in the original it was. In the original she served it then had an anecdote given to him.. This version is a much better version.
Great reading. Once I started reading, couldn't put the book down. There are lessons to be learned and it's nice to find a Laird with an open mind and heart.
I love this story of true love! It was so mysterious and thrilling all the way! I could hardly put it down. I wanted to find what would happen next. The ending was wonderful!
