This is a story all about how my life got flipped and ABSOLUTELY DEMOLISHED because my uncle decided he wanted to kill off half of Noc City’s population.
Yeah, talk about a toxic family.
Just when I thought I could try to move on from being kidnapped by said uncle and imprisoned, I get dragged off to Sol City by two a*holes in tactical gear and chips on their...admittedly attractive...shoulders.
What the hell, right?
This is a spin-off of the Noc City Trilogy, told from Beatrix Castwell's POV. This is a why choose RH story with triggers and spice up the wazoo.
I spend 95% of my life huddled in my little office, at my little desk, vividly hallucinating about characters and scenarios that don't exist. Then I write it all down for you to enjoy!
This is so intensely crazy good. Trix is everything I was hoping for plus some! I can’t believe how quickly I read this book. Literally couldn’t put it down until I got to the end. And that ending!!!! Absolutely love the continuation in this universe. 10/5 Stars recommend!
I am officially hooked! Not that this is a secret or anything! I love everything about the Noc City series and Sol City has reeled me in equally as hard which comes as no surprise.
This story picks up in the aftermath of Hybrid Theory and centres around a trial where Serenity and Beatrix are both key witnesses. Whilst this is Beatrix's story, you do get glimpses of Serenity and her harem of men.
Beatrix, once a fun-loving and kind-hearted activist, is struggling with PTSD from the previous ordeal of being abducted and experimented on. Also, as a new shifter, not quite knowing where she fits in, wanting to capture some of her freedom back, rebels and it is up to her “minders” to keep her safe and out of trouble. Alas, what could go wrong…
This story has one of the best enemies-to-lovers (I hate you with the passion of 1000 suns) sex scenes I have read in a long time! As Beatrix's connection to her men builds, the spice level is off the charts good and adds the perfect amount of tantalizing heat to the engaging plotline.
Like the previous series, you can always count on a fantastic twist at the end that I did not anticipate and I love when an author can have that plot element that surprises you.
Although this is a spin-off, this book is not a standalone but a continuation of the series and you must read the Noc City trilogy to fully grasp the plot and characters. I can not wait for the next instalment in this series!
Know what mistake not to make when starting this book? Thinking it's a standalone and now being left with your jaw hanging at that dang cliffhanger!
I already knew I loved Beatrix from what we saw of her in the Nov City Trilogy but she is just something else!!! Witty, quirky, geeky and at times snarky. She's just epic and I am living for this book!
I didn't expect to find Gareth appealing after his performance in the former books but I find I have a rather large soft spot for the grumpy shifter. Warrik? The big scary sexy vampire did not disappoint during this book and may or may not have left me slightly flustered in the woods. However top spot for the hotties in this book goes to Thane *fans self* oooft that Warlock definitely knows how to work his charm to his advantage.
Can honestly say I was screaming in my head at Estelle because I though I'd hate her the most in this book but I was wrong that privilege lays with the she wolf.
That ending was brutal and has left me wanting. Wanting an explanation. Wanting more of the guys. Wanting everything to be okay. This book was absolutely amazing and I can't wait for the next one!!!
I’m still reeling from that cliffhanger. Seriously, I did not see this coming! I’m not gonna spoil anything but beware, there is a slight cliffy at the end of this book.
But let’s start with the beginning 😝 I’d personally skip over the prologue as it’s more of an excerpt taken out of another chapter, so if you start with chapter 1 immediately, you won’t miss out on anything and the order will make more sense.
If you’d been wondering how Trix was handling everything that happened in Noc City, then this is a must read! We see a bit more of the aftermath of book 3 of Noc City and how everything is slowly starting to heal itself. This book is solely from Beatrix’ POV, but it fits for this one.
I really enjoyed the story and Trix’s guys, and can’t wait for the second part of this duet!
Wow. I loved the previous series of books and this was just as amazing! I loved being able to see all the events through different lenses and the spice content when it starts! All I gotta say is be warned that cliffhanger has sharp edges.
Cannot wait for the next one!
I was given an advanced copy for an honest review.
Penn pulls you into Trix's story which follows on from the events of Serenity's in the Noc City trilogy. The effortless world building of Sol City and its stark contrast to broken world of Noc City immediately draw you into what without a doubt going to be a gripping read.
Trix is dealing with the haunting memories of her captivity, the emotional damage and impact its had on her and very real ptsd. She is filled with an unrelenting rage which she doesn't yet know how to deal with but feels it bubbling under the surface like a ticking time bomb. Despite everything Trix is still full of attitude and won't be held back, she wants to live her life her way.
War, Garreth and Thane, Trix's three men, these guys are as drool worthy as they are frustrating, some more than others. Garreth is her body guard by orders of the Blood Moon alpha their relationship is tenuous but there is a connection between them waiting to be fully explored but complications pop up out of nowhere. War is a legend that has eyes instantly on Trix, the intense chemistry between them is palpable but their relationship develops slowly. Thane, Wars brother is the opposite of his brooding brother but no less addictive. Thanes magic sparks instantly when he meets Trix in ways he can't even comprehend, these two together is so hot they could burn down the world.
I have fallen in love with Trix she is broken, fiesty and determined to go after what she wants, even if that does mean leaving her brain behind a lot. The realism of how her relationships develop at different rates with the guys only furthers to instill the impressive skill Penn has when creating and growing her character arcs.
This book ends on a shocking cliff hanger that is in stark contrast to how that morning started leaving you broken and desperate to know who is playing the long game, who is the real target of this set up and what will the guys do now ... Penn, I'm desperately waiting for book two!!
There is nothing quite like a cliffhanger that you weren’t expecting. I can’t even begin to express the mixed emotions I’m having right now.
If you’ve read Noc City before then you know exactly who Trix is. If you haven’t read Noc City yet, what are you waiting on?
Trix has been tortured at the hands of her uncle and his team. After going through the wringer, she’s trying to remain strong and put the only person left alive behind bars, for good. In this book, Trix’s strength has immediately improved. She’s fighting for what’s right all while trying to figure out where she belongs. I honestly love Trix just as much if not more than Serenity.
The harem… I can’t think of a better fit. They fit with Trix so perfectly. They push, they protect, and they give everything right back to her. I can’t choose a favorite… but those fangs and veined eyes… that long hair that you can sweep your hands through… and that magic that creeps its way around you. Yep, I can’t choose.
Noc City was everything for me… and now Sol City has become a favorite. I don’t think I will ever get over the cliffhanger until the next book comes out. If you couldn’t tell, I highly enjoyed this book and I recommend giving this book a chance!
What an incredible book! I loved Noc City, so when I came across the spinoff that actually follows Beatrix's story, I started it immediately.
My my my... it was captivating. Cassidy has completely put me under a spell, again by the way, as it was impossible to put the book down. It has everything that I could possible ask for - vampires, shifters, mages, excitement, danger, spice and of course some intriguing revelations. In addition, the plot is captivating, fast -paced and the anticipation of what is to come next has kept me on my toes the entire time. It had just the right ingredients in it.
Quite frankly, it is one of those books that draws you into the story from the very beginning in such a manner that it feels like as if you are actually in Sol City and experiencing everything that the characters go through. For me at least, this is precisely what the distinction between a great book and an incredible one is. I was so invested in the story that without a shred of doubt I can actually say that Penn Cassidy has just become one of my favourite authors. It goes without saying that I am so looking forward to the continuation of this journey in the next book.
So I started cheekily mid series, I always like to test it, and just twist it up a lil not heed the warning "to start at the begining" instead no...rebellious me, here I am reading right here, Just to see if it can hold its own and whether I want to know the past story telling.
What Can Say this book was 4.5 - fast paced but very easy to follow, humour🤌,grunt & spicy tension very intriguing plot line. Thane( playboy rogue is myfav),Gareth & War are very ridable...
So After I finish this book, yes im going to book 1 to understand this darkling darkness more & how we got here - beacause I really like these Alphaholes and the women that put them in their place.
Beatrix is that lil wolf rebel we should remind ourselves to be sometimes.!cue the eye from Gareth.
Sol City is the first book in the spin-off from Noc City by Penn Cassidy and damn this is a whirlwind of a ride. I absolutely love Trix, sassy and strong yet vulnerable in a way that truly makes you feel for her and making her a really well rounded character. Brooding Gareth who is essentially her baby sitter while in the Blood Moon pack, despite a connection between the pair there is plenty of push and pull between them. War, a legend to some, to others he’s closed off a war commander but the chemistry between himself and Trix is palpable. Thane, War’s brother and total opposite, is outgoing, extroverted and his magic sparks at Trix’s presence. If you loved Noc City then you definitely need to continue on with Trix’s tale.
Following a year on from the events in Noc city. At first it's was confused, things happened and there are hints but no detail or confirmation for some time and when it comes it comes with more information and unexpected twists. But it's not all dark, there's some light, hot, passionate smexy light! Open sometimes hateful, but damn shes lucky smex! Unlike Serenity, Beatrix is easier to connect with mainly because we met here during Noc city. I am looking forward to finding out WTF is happening! And I have a feeling Estelle has something to do with this....
Ahhh that ending!!! I was seriously flipping and hoping to find that my kindle just threw a blank page in by accident to tease me…but nope! Penn was naughty and left us with a wicked cliffhanger. I absolutely love this book and cannot wait to see what’s to come for Trix, War, Thane, and Gareth. I need more of them in my life like right now🖤 I am completed hooked, just as I was with Noc City. These guys are all such an amazing fit for Trix and OMG the chemistry! If you liked Noc City, then you are going to LOVE Sol City!
This is book four in the Darkverse series and is not a standalone this is the start of Beatrix story.
Beatrix has to go to Sol City for the hearing of Estelle. Gareth, from her pack, is her bodyguard. She is assigned War while at the consulate. She meets Thane who is War’s brother while there.
This was a good first book to Beatrix and her guys. Horrible cliffhanger glad the next book comes out real soon. Hope I’m the next book we get more about Thane and War.
I really do like this book unfortunately I went in thinking it was going to be a stand-alone not a duet so I was kind of disappointed and happy at the same time. I'm disappointed because now we have to wait to next but I was extremely happy that there's going be more because there were so much going I was really wondering how she was going to fit so much in such a short book. Penn Cassidy has been a wonderful find her books are action packed with hot spice!!
Heat level: 4/5. A vampire, a wolf shifter, & a sorcerer walk into a bar 😂 No but they totally want the FMC & she wants them right back. I highly recommend reading the Noc City trilogy first since there are huge spoilers for that story. This FMC is the cousin of the Noc City trilogy FMC & this takes place not long after the ending of book 3. I definitely wasn't expecting that ending but we all know it wasn't her. She was busy getting busy 😏 I can't wait to read the next one!
Sweet sweaty shifters, the first installment of this trilogy was as epic as the Noc City trilogy. Penn knocked it outta the park and I am chomping at the bit for the next book!
If you read the first three books, I'm gonna guess you need a Trix update. Serenity and her guys are here, too. We already know Gareth and then along come Warrick and Thane. How these cousins both hit the male lottery is beyond me, but I'm here for it. No spoilers here. But prepare for a shocking cliffhanger. Luckily, the next book is ready to go.
This is so intensely crazy good. Trix is everything I was hoping for plus some! I can’t believe how quickly I read this book. Literally couldn’t put it down until I got to the end. And that ending!!!! Absolutely love the continuation in this universe. 10/5 Stars recommend!
Triix's story so far is great. Back from being held captive she's learning to live a new life with 3 gorgeous men at her side. Let's hope her dreams come true and not her nightmares
I was so happy to get back to Noc city and Penn Cassidy did not disappoint. These three men are my new favorite!! I loved each of them in there own way
Trix was such a great character in the Noc City Trilogy & loved that she got her own story & we got to know her more. Was also great to get to know more on Gareth, specially after his betrayal. But damn that cliff hanger of an ending. Need to the second part NOW !!
This, this is what we need from a separate-but-related series. It balanced well between referencing the previous series and unique new scenarios. I really appreciated getting to know Trix, and getting bits and pieces of her time in captivity. All three men are exceptional, as is to be expected, and man do they give her a run for her money! Overall, I binge read this in a day, and I can't wait to see more!
I love the Noc City series and this was a amazing continuation of that series! I absolutely love Trix and her guys this story was everything I love about Penn’s writing and it has a wicked cliffhanger ending I can’t wait for the next book!!!
