It started with a blinding white light and a silver ring that would change everything, but it seems never ending.
These people should've been dead two hundred years ago when this Empire ceased to exist, yet here I am standing amongst them like I've always been here. Like I belong.
I don't.
I've become an object of warped fixation for five men I know next to nothing about. Five men that are so clearly divided, two of them hate each other with enough passion to burn me alive right where I stand.
Victor Ambrose, King of the Northern Kingdom, is a man so cold it sometimes pains me to look into his eyes. A man who somehow makes me feel protected still. A man that can cripple someone with his gaze alone.
Matthias Carillion, King of the Southern Kingdom, is so opposite of everyone else, so gentle and caring that he makes me feel more capable of getting through anything, just by being in his presence.
Elijah Black, Leader of the Militia of the Northern Kingdom, has never left me alone without impenetrable protection and clear instructions on his safety regulations. A man so overbearing I find myself disobeying his commands just to see his inflammable anger alight.
And Emris Black, First Advisor to the King of the Southern Kingdom. Someone confusing enough to invite irritation from everyone around him. Cruel with his words, silent in everything else, a man who can command a person’s mind without moving an inch. Powerful enough to terrify even the worst monster.
Then there’s Adrien Ashford. Spy. Assassin. Dead. Adrien Ashford is a man rumored to be dead, and he’s that fifth presence I’ve felt watching me since I’ve come here. Always there, lurking in shadows but refusing to reveal himself.
They're all psychopaths. Tyrants. Killers, no matter how humane they could seem at times.
Yet they couldn't have been more at odds with each other, any more different.
And I've just found out that the one thing they truly have in common, the one thing that will bind the two Kingdoms and their leaders together once and for all… is me.
My name is Amethyst Aphelion, and it seems I’m either about to change the course of history… or shatter everything.
Because I’m only a sixth of a soul.
Sixth of a Soul is a fantasy and time travel reverse harem novel recommended for readers 18+. The heroine has more than one love interest and isn’t made to choose.
I think i missed the plot here!?!? I have no idea what this book was actually about. 𝐖𝐡𝐲 was she there? 𝐇𝐨𝐰 did she get there? 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 is she? 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 with the ring? Her parents, 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 were they? 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 about the multiple mating bonds?... No one asked a 𝐆𝐎𝐃𝐃𝐀𝐌𝐍 question about anything and there wasn't any actual world building/lore, just a brief mention of the color caste and that's it. Nor was there any characters development, which is kind of a bummer since i really liked them, especially 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐣𝐚𝐡, 𝐄𝐦𝐫𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐬𝐡. But there was absolutely nothing happening, so many words to describe 𝐙𝐢𝐥𝐭𝐜𝐡. The entire book was about having the bond click in place, not that i minded that part i loved their interactions and banter but still i kinda needed more information and plot. Because everything in-between the mania was just 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠. ]|I{•---------⋘⋙---------------•⪼⦕࿅⦖⪻•---------------⋘⋙---------•}I|[ I'm still giving this a 3 star rating, because it was a debut novel and i did love parts of this story a lot. Plus i have hope the second book will have more depth to it, world exploration and answers.
I enjoyed this book! It had a very interesting time travel premise and I really liked the characters.
The guys were all very possessive and protective over Amethyst, which I liked. It was a bit instalove, but they all also had to slowly learn to share, which I like too.
Things that diminished a bit for me was the world building. I felt like I needed a bit more. I have no idea where Amethyst came from, what their world really was like. Some of the descriptions could’ve been a bit more expanded on, and other times i didn’t think i understood. Like when she’s described as being put to sit on the guys forearms, i could only imagine the way you’d hold a baby???
It’s still a solid premise and I’ll most likely pick up book 2 when it’s out!
No OW/OM Not sure if virgin h Attempted rape/assault on page Mention of sibling suicide
I enjoyed this read, especially the protective/jealous/possessive nature of the men. This is a slow burn RH with multi-POV and there are time travel and fantasy elements.
Amethyst is a sweet FMC filled with curiosity after a surprise time travel trip. While her niceness shines consistently through the book, her acceptance of her situation did happen very easily and it's still a bit of a mystery what happened. Once there, she's drawn immediately to several powerful men who are in the midst of a peace treaty between kingdoms after a war. Which means most of the men have personal conflicts with each other. How the characters navigate a fated connection with what's happening with their kingdoms, the tensions between them, and the idea of sharing made for an entertaining read. The harem are diverse in personalities and backgrounds, but all maintain that possessive/protective vibe. There is no other woman drama or mm, they are completely obsessed with her.
This world is also divided based on castes and the highest caste are gifted with powers. The world building is one area where this book needed a bit more. Where Amethyst came from wasn't clear for me, for example. I also would have loved more depth about the overall world she finds herself in. There are some instances of editing errors at the time I read this, some descriptive scenes were hard for me to picture, and there was the occasional inconsistency. These did not hamper my ability to enjoy or finish the story however and I imagine some of these elements of the author's storytelling will grow stronger as she continues.
Book 1 doesn't end on a cliffhanger, there's a lead-in for the next book but the characters are happy in the moment with unresolved plot points to come. I'll be checking out book 2 once it's released, it's already up for preorder.
Whoop new author. I’m liking the Isekai and time travelling webtoons at the moment and this one fit right in with that. Wasn’t really much focused on the present, no explanation on the ring or chest just yet. It was interesting but annoying with the jealousy and the guys at each other’s throats. I was pretty much done with Emris and Elijah, both their misguided hatred for each other and Elijah’s caveman attitude. Not cute. It is one big introduction with a couple of other potential harems tossed in. Favourite character was Ash because hell yes shadow assassin. At the moment Victor and Matthias just seem to be there to play peacemaker between the brothers. I’m liking the characters and the powers. Mentions of suicide, parental fuckery and one attempted assault scene. Now that they’re all on the same page, it’ll be nice to see where this one goes.

3,5 stars actually I love to read debut books and discover new authors. I enjoyed reading this time travel series, with really possessiv men. Victor Ambrose, Matthias Carillion, Elijah Black, Emris Black and Adrien Ashford. My fave was probably Elijah, but the others where not that far behind. The heroine Amethyst was a mix of a lil shy, independent, a lil stubborn, kind and is very open, straight forward and saying what she is thinking. I just feel that there is so much more we have to know about the world and how everything works. This was just the start. I look forward to read the next book!
Sixth of a Soul was an interesting read. I picked it up because it was described as a time-traveling romance. However, I think I missed something because time traveling was mentioned max 5 times in the whole book and even then it was just skimmed over and not adequately discussed.
As this is the first book in the series called Bonds of the Soul I was expecting more world-building. To be fair there was some world-building but not as much as I would like. Everything in this book even the plot seemed very foggy.
I finished reading this book because of the characters. The background that we get on them was good and actually kept me interested in what happens next. So I will be reading the sequel. Also, the FMC has a cat. I don't know what is it about the MCs having pets but I always mark everywhere they are mentioned. However, about halfway into the book that cat is not mentioned often and it kind of seems like the writer forgot about it.
Overall, this is a fun read about soulmates and it is a bit dark as it mentions topics such as family abuse and suicide so please be aware of that before picking up this book.
I liked how close she got to every bond individually. And I really thought things would escalate to sex in this book but nope. It was mostly about building their relationship and I am surprised. But I don't really have experience in reading reverse harem so I came to this open minded. There was zero to no plot in this book but that's okay it was still very flowing and it had meaning. It wasn't trash like I thought it would be when I started. The characters actually are very different from each other and it's nice to see her interaction with each of them so you can choose which are your faves. I chose Emris and Ambrose (and Ashford a bit but it was focused too much on him messing up all the time and I don't really trust him next to her anymore). I'm excited about the next book though.
This book was everything I wanted! Multiple POV, each character has depth, the fMC was quirky and kind, each member of her harem is completely besotted and brings out different parts of Ames personality and character. Not very steamy but the story was so wonderful i didn’t feel like I was missing anything
I really loved seeing the start of the characters!! I am super excited to see how they change and their relationship grows. It would also be cool if they went forever to see what happened to the parents relationship who was the grandmother hmmmm!!!
Tons of mistakes in grammar, punctuations and there were a couple of times we lost the plot there (decide already, is the cat Kuro or Kiki)- but cute despite all of that.
The guys were great, the girl was adorable (your typical Mary Sue) and my biggest complaint was the harem’s dynamic. Like, Elijah was actually the main character basically. Meanwhile Matty and Vic are about as pretty and interesting as ornate table lamps, Emris is actually the second male lead in reality and this is now a book about a love triangle between two rival brothers and Ash is never properly physically described.
Neither is she really btw. Amethyst that is.
Where right off the bat readers are given physical descriptions of each character to the exact shade of their eye color, the best we get about Amethyst is that she’s short, has green eyes and 20 chapters later we find out her hair is curly, long enough to wrap around her waist, and dark. That’s it. And honestly I don’t care so much about her as I do Ash.
It’s mentioned ONCE he has brown skin. ONCE. That’s it. Pop quiz, what color are his eyes. Which features on his face are burned- not what side- I’m talking ears, cheek, mouth, anyone? Alright, and the side that isn’t burned, how does it look? What makes it “beautiful”? Ash finally reveals himself from out of his stalker shadows and what do readers get?
Tah-dah! New mystery character unlocked but they’re wearing a morph suit. 💀 access blocked in your country. Download this free VPN. I mean, basically, am I right? And to the only POA too. Dude. I need so much more after dealing with the freak ghost shadow character “taunting” readers in the background.
So cute, but terrible, but satisfying in a trash panda kind of way enough to be forgivable. Like discovering a Wattpad novel on Kindle.
I really enjoyed this, but I wish there was more world building/explanations. I still have a lot of unanswered questions about the world and the setting.
This book was quite confusing. Amethyst time travels (?) in the past in a country that she studied at school where she suddenly bonds with 5 people. She doesn't know how nor why she got there, but she takes everything in stride without asking questions. Did I forget to say that people here have magic and her 5 guys are enemies from two conflicting territories? However, since they met her they don't care as much about that anymore.
I felt like there was a lot going on without giving enough explanations, so that the reader was left wondering and confused.
DNF'd at 40%. This book- I wouldn't even classify this as a book- this collection of self indulgent, unedited, horrendous attempt at storytelling- has no plot and absolutely no structure. The characters are about as deep as a drop of water and even at nearly the halfway point NOTHING happens! If you would consider a bunch of huge growly (ugh) men having to constantly control themselves (and failing) from keeping their hands off of Amethyst (of course she has one of those kinds of names) and off of each other (not in the fun way), good storytelling, then I guess you're in for a treat. Someone is always threatening someone else. Someone always keeps getting growled at (ugh). Someone always ends up almost losing control of their super special powers around our sparkly, vanilla-sweet, gemstone given human form and regretting it deeply whilst the others loom in threatening fashion over the errant male. The reader is told, at least once, on every page that none of the male love (lust?) interests care about anything that is not Amethyst, not even siblings or allies or best friends whom they've known for nearly all their lives. Case in point- "Ambrose walked into the room then, and I remembered my loyalty to him. I’d sworn it to him years ago, and yet. The one I had towards her outshined that by seemingly a mile, because I knew then that I would easily hurt him to protect her. Easily. I owed this man my life, but her? She’d managed to own me in the little time she’d been here. Own my very fucking soul." And over and over and over again with miniscule readjustments. Thank goodness I don't own a physical copy of this work, because I would have dented my poor blameless walls with it, many times over.

If you're a history buff like me. .. this is in no way historically accurate. Its more like a magical parallel dimension set in the past. For instance there are North, South, East, and West Kingdoms. I'm not even sure I would classify it as time travel. Because the only difference they really mention besides kingdoms is her lack of proper clothing. That being said ... It was a cute romance with some possessive males that adored an innocent "time travelling" heroine. This felt like a complete story in ways, but there were holes left open that I want to be answered.
I'm not actually sure what to say about this book that wouldn't feel empty. I don't have any strong feelings negative or positive towards it. It was a good book, the written was well done and the characters were mind catching. Then there's the plot line. Naive girl thats been thrown into the past and found her soul mates and just automatically fits with everything and everyone like she was always meant to be there. I am hoping to learn more about how she came to be there, and what happened to her parents. And why hasn't the darn ring been mentioned since she went back in time?! Then there's something shift about the cat and Adele so I'm curious about how that'll play out. Oh and fwi there was no steam really cept some heavy breathing and them feeling like they're going into heat... But nothing really every happened cept that one time that she forgets there's a finger up her who ha. So yep that's it. You can take it or leave it really. Interesting but not something to write home about.
I enjoyed this and will definitely be reading book two!
This story desperately needs an editor and/or beta readers to help expand on ideas. The premise is SO GOOD, it just needs like 10-15 more pages per idea. Everything could have been explained in more detail (I have so many questions that were left unanswered) and I would have been more willing to give a 4 star rating if the world building had at least been organized. I did enjoy the book, I really did. The story bones are solid, they just need more oomph and this could easily be a new fave series.
A bit of a different take on the 'heroine doesn't know she's special' trope. Amethyst accidentally travels through a portal back in time where she awakens with a bunch of strange guys staring at her. As she is trying to figure out where she is and why she's there, the guys are equally trying to figure her out. I liked that she's smack dab in the middle of peace negotiations with the Northern and Southern Kingdoms and that these guys can't stand each other. There's a bit of a mystery that will need to be resolved. I liked the concept of the caste system with the levels based on power and not necessarily just family lines (although powerful families tend to produce powerful children). I really liked that the author just didn't have the guys instantly get over their hatred/distrust for the others just cuz they start falling for the heroine. Definitely going to read book 2. The guys are all super possessive and not too OTT.
After catching a cover picture on Booktok (I’m a sucker for good cover art!), I knew I needed to one-click this after reading the blurb. Interesting take on RH. Since this is the first of the series, I don’t know whether to call this a slow or medium burn. But there’s hints of the spice to come, so I’m excited for the next installment! The ONLY reason why this wasn’t a five-star was I wish there had been just a bit more intro into the world and characters before the story got rolling. I caught myself going, “Now who is this again? What is their relation to the story/the other characters? Who is speaking again?” Of course Id just have to back up a few lines or to the chapter header to get caught up, but it definitely interrupted the flow the author was trying to get going. By the middle of the book that feeling gradually faded as I got a better handle of everyone. All in all, it’s a great way to kick off the series! (And I’ve pre-ordered the next one!)
Lots of potential, and certainly not bad, but just didn't hit the way I wanted it to.
Amethyst is a little too accepting of all of the 5 bonds. For a modern girl, it just felt unrealistic, especially given her traumatic past. She's too nice; it's boring. The guys, while cute, feel a little... basic. I really hate that ALL 5 bonds happen in the this book. I think they should have been more spread out. It would have allowed for more character development and differentiation for the guys. They fall flat otherwise. Too insta for me.
None smut. Sad face.
The world building is meh. Politics are glossed over. Paranormal stuff not super fleshed out. The time travel aspect is honestly nonexistent. There are no customs or awkwardness that I'd want, but also the 1800s wasn't that long ago. Don't get me started on the lack of a chemise under an all-in-one dress *gag*.
Ever feel like you were dropped into a story that was already half told - and you didn’t know the beginning? That’s how this felt to me. We still don’t know WHY she was sent back, though we do know how…: but why? It was deliberate, even if she was the unintended target.
Plus world details are missing, characters and situations are thrown about as if we know them, but no, no we don’t. It’s book 1. I got a hint of another series 65% in about 6 brothers and a soul bond - maybe the missing details are there?
It was interesting but so annoying - I ended the novel with little more information than I started with, at least in terms of how’s and why’s. Who really is Ashford? What happened? Why is Emilia like she is? What is Adele, really? What’s up with her parents?
I didn't really like this book very much. The heroine was was extremely annoying. She was overly sweet, terrified of violence, and didn't listen. Her harem consisted of gifted men with tempers. They would get incredibly mad about something and she would whimper and cower somewhere until they were calm again. The intimate parts of the book were super frustrating as well. She would start something with the guys, they would touch her, and then she'd tell them to stop. It felt very high school to me. If you're not ready don't start anything. I didn't really get how they bonded either. I thought it was instant but then it seemed like something had to be triggered. I also saw a ton of typos so the book could use a good editor.
Normally, when reading a book and it’s full of cliché as it can get pretty boring and predictable pretty fast but I have to say, that even though that it does have a lot of cliched I actually like it. My favorite was Elijah and I have to say that in this book, the relationship are not equally developed but you will see more of them in the second book , and personally I think it’s worth the wait for the third.
If you do not like fast love romance ( though she takes a little bit more time to fall in love with them) this is not the book for you. Fair warning the FMC has past trauma regarding violence so she’s not proactive to act in such a way that it can be accepted if said person is threatening someone she loves.
DNF (did not finish). What made the book unfinishable in your opinion? I wanted to like this book but there were a lot of descriptions and explanations that were lacking. It was also confusing at times at what was happening and why. Where was the main character from? Why such vague explanation of the guys and their powers? I don’t mind the “fated mate” troupe, but I would have liked more romantic development between the characters. I made it to about the 70% mark in the book before the lack of explanation bothered me enough to put the story down.
This book was 90% about their bond and 10% about anything plot related. Every second was about how much they would kill for her, which is nice but got excessive. We hardly know anything about mc's past or anything by the end of the book. Really feel like this could've been an intro to a real book. I also don't like the fact that Elijah was the dominant male lead, you didn't get to see her relationships with the others develop nearly as much as Elijahs. I don't feel connected with any of the characters. TL:DR too much mush not enough plot
I kept feeling like I was missing something. It took me 75% to really get the characters separated with the use of different names throughout. I’m used to multiple POV so this shouldn’t have been an issue. I felt like I was expected to know certain things without it being written about where and how everything was set. The characters were so stagnant, it was the same conversation throughout the whole book.
SPOILER: The “bonding” moments were not exciting enough for it to be the entirety of the book.
Excellent novel period, let alone for a debut novel. The characters were very vivid, especially the guys, and hit a lot of the most popular h personalities. Reminded me a bit of Erica Woods’ Hunted. The one thing I will say though is that I wish the world building was a bit more fleshed out (and that the cat got a few more scenes in the latter half of the book!)
