The competition between Scions continues, with more on the line than ever before.
Roy and his teammates have long odds to beat, especially seeing as they’re up against the most powerful team in the entire tournament. With little hope of success, Roy will need to push himself as never before, discovering new depths to both his physical and spiritual power.
All the while, Azure watches from on high as ancient seals continue to crumble, heralding the rise of a new age…
The past 3 books have been great, playing into the cultivation martial arts trope that is a tournament arc. And this is the completion of it, which satisfies and provides great fun at the same time.
We learn so much about the goings on of the world, while also seeing a deepening connection between our hero and the people around him and his own core. The fights are fun, the stakes high, and an amazing climax leaving us wanting more.
My partner suggested this series to me and in about a month I finished reading up to here. I loved every bit of the story, characters, and world, and I am super excited to see what comes next!! I’ve already started to suggest this series to my friends as well! Normally I have an issue with getting distracted and being unable to read for long periods of time, but this series sucked me right in and made it hard to stop to eat and work. If other series were *this* great, I don’t think I’d be able to get anything done ever
If not for the spelling and errors where character names were interchanged, it was a good read. Although despite the length of the book, I felt 5he storyline's progress was minimal. Two books for 1 tournament is a long tournament. If book 10 is the last in this series, I hope the next 2 books aren't too rushed as I'm sure there's still a lot of loose ends to tie up.
Solid continuation, although it was a surprise that Felix was under the control of a djinn. Also it sucks for the gang that the ancient cavern beast rose again… along with another. What’s going to happen to Aika now that the Splitter of Heavens rose again? And what’s going to happen to Azure, with him breaking the rule and all? This and all will probably be answered in Book 9, so stay tuned for the next installment of Buryoku!
Series is still going strong, though this one is a bit darker. Fight scenes are still great. I'll miss the the banter between Roy and Geon, but as their relationship seems to improve the other characters seem to be growing more distant. looking forward to the next book.
I like the progression in the story for all the side characters. That is an awesome feature to this book. The only thing that bothered me was the MC main issue during this book, it didn't seem to fit the character development to me. Overall a great book. I really liked the length and depth that the book took.
Easily my fav of all the series . I have to admit though that I prefer a single fast moving story line rather than the dual or even triple storylines being woven here . I don't want to make this review too long as that will keep the author away from writing my next instalment!
Having been scared to open this book for fear of being disappointed, I absolutely sped through it once I started reading. I was just captured by the story coming together all around the world of Buryoku. The challenges Roy faces are making my heart pound. Definitely recommend the whole series.
As they struggle to grow stronger and defeat the Ancient Cavern Beast Furia’s teams and save the continent from Furia rising again, traitors are among them. Roy meanwhile struggles to come to grips with the Oni spirit and not lose the competition for his team. Emotions run high and not everything is as it seems.
Okay so despite me personally being disappointed with certain aspects of the character progression and overall pacing it’s still a 5 star review. Personal feelings aside the series itself has earned that and so has the author.
This series just gets better and better with every book! It released at midnight and I was waiting for it. Well written, and a satisfying path to power. Love it, highly recommend the whole series and all his other books.
Aaron Oster does not let us down as once again he cranks out a quality book in a very small amount of time. For fans of cultivation fantasy it is a good book, though I heavily suggest you start at the beginning of the series.
Another great addition to this series. I can't wait for the next book. I don't know how he names to keep producing this quality at this rate. I'm excited to see how everyone develops in the coming books.
The book was fire!! There was way more than I expected. It went over and beyond my expectations. If you know the author, than you know how the book is going to end, but the story is so good you want to know how it happened. Can’t wait for more!!
The book is fantastically written. The author bounces from perspective to perspective in this book and explores the different characters more in this book, while still keeping the story about Roy. One of the best books of the series yet.
Didn’t disappoint. Though it had me waiting and waiting and waiting it was good. Did see what happened with the teacher or with friends but the dad prt was obvious and still what it was built up to be. Especially With the background given as to why.
Buryoku is one of my favorite series. As. Always a Joy to read, although I must say book 8 is a bit heavy on the fighting scenes. AO is skille at writing them but too much of a good thing csn still become a bit boring. For the first time I skipped a few pages.
Very enjoyable series, great world development with multiple storylines. Roy’s character development continues to impress. It doesn’t feel like I’m 8 books in … great job!
This series is one of my favorites that i have ever read really like the fact that any pov changes in the book like from roy to hermit are very well done as they show a reason to change and a goal of that character
The book, even though it took sometime to come out, and I thought it was going to end on this book, but I'm glad it isn't because of the information that was given to us in the 7th book and I want to read what he does then,
I felt like Roy (MC) acted really childish through a lot of the book, I guess that's sort of the theme, with the most powerful beings on the planet taking every chance to attack eachother, but it does get a bit tiresome. Still a good read
I really enjoy the characters and their progression throughout the story and growing as people and as a group together working towards common goals. The world is beautiful and the Artist are powerful and the heights of power boggles the mind.
I've read every one of these books until now. You took a half way decent character and turned him into a spoiled coward. The whole book was him being a shitty person to stupid to see the answer. I'm pissed I bought the whole series.
