Penelope's Paths

Rate this book
Is there only one path to a Happily Ever After?

Is one choice, or path, better than another?

After a humiliating divorce, Penelope Pierce is about to try her luck in the dating world for the first time in years. Luckily, she has her two best friends to help her face the singles scene.

Laura, single and loving life, wants to bring Penelope to the club scene. Drink. Dance. Have fun. Nothing serious. Her married friend, Shannon, on the other hand, wants to set Penelope up with a guy from her husband's legal firm insisting he's “perfect” for Penelope.

Should Penelope go on the blind date? Or hit the clubs?
It’s up to YOU, the reader.

If you choose for Penelope to go on the blind date... When handsome, confident, British William makes a risqué and daring request, does Penelope rise to the challenge? Or does she retreat? And then what?

Perhaps you choose for Penelope to go to the clubs. When things get hot and heavy with the full-lipped, floppy-haired musician, Mitch, does Penelope lean into her desires? Or does she run and not look back! And when she encounters a curious noise in the night…then what?

You, the reader, will make Penelope's choices, and you will determine which kind of risks Penelope takes and what kinds of romances Penelope gets. Your choices will bring about a wide range of favorite romance tropes and adventures. Most are happy endings, however - as in life - things don't always work out.

But one of the best parts about Penelope's Paths... When you get to the end, you can go back, make different choices, and enjoy an entirely different story.

1 heroine... 9 potential heroes... 10 unique endings.

Stephannie's 4 Star Review:
This is such a great idea for a book; to have the reader choose the path the main character is going to follow. It was a fun and unique concept. Penelope is trying to move on from a cheating ex. Penelope's friends have different ideas for her to get back out there. As the reader in this book, you get to pick the path you want Penelope to move to find love again, or will the path you choose to lead to more heartbreak? You have to read this one and see depending on the choices you make for Penelope.
I really liked this idea. I enjoyed reading the path that I choose for the Main Character. I only wish I felt more connected to Penelope before making choices But it was a great read and fun concept and idea. Do you dare pick Penelope's choices for her? One-click this one day!

Penelope's Path was like no other book I've read – it was a unique and steamy experience that kept me wanting to turn the page. I loved being able to read so many different outcomes to the main character's scenarios. It's the absolute perfect summer read!

4.5 stars! So much fun to have choices with Penelope, who is 27 and newly divorced from her cheating ex-husband. Sometimes I read a romance and wish that she had gone with someone other than the hero. This time I got to choose the heroes, over and over again. She got to try bdsm, go on a motorcycle with a biker, fall for a hot veterinarian, ditch her ordinary life to have fun on the road with a musician, and more. I loved that there was more than one HEA for Penelope. That was my fear that there was only one "right one", only one "Mr. Right", but it turns out that there are several.

I have not read a romance that had so many optional endings. I wish life was like this book where I could peek ahead and see where alternate paths lead and then pick the best one. I appreciate the care that the author went to provide the details for the bdsm storyline as well how descriptive it was for other storylines too. There are some hot, steamy, sexy scenes too!

I was very happy that the different choices led to such different heroes and different sides to Penelope. My faves were Ridge and Mike. There are a couple of ones that don't work out for her, just like in life. I am so glad that the author included a list of the guys at the end because I thought that I had read all of them, but I had missed a couple.

There were also her friends, Shannon and Laura, who were fun and rooting for her to find someone who would be everything Peter was not.

I had previously read the wonderful Dream series by this author, but really was not prepared for the fun & sexy storylines in this one.

This does show as book 1, so I am excited and hopeful that there will be at least one more book in this series.

Note: I read an advance reading copy. I have read and own other books by this author.

This is a “choose your own adventure” romance story, where at times when the MC, Penelope, needs to make a decision, the reader gets to decide, too. Does she go on the blind date her one friend wants to set her up on? Or does she go out dancing with her other friend? And decisions go from there. Penelope is a recently divorced, interior designer, feeling that she’s not sexy enough after finding out her husband was cheating on her with three women.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this book. I remember the Choose Your Own Adventure books my brother read when we were growing up, and thought it would be fun to try it, but even still, I was surprised how enjoyable it was to get to choose a path for Penelope and then go back and see what would happen if she’d made a different choice.

After making my first choices, I read with a sort of skeptical eye when I went back to make different choices because I was so attached to the guy she had met in my first choice—who else could be as good as him? To be fair, not all of her choices were as good as that one (by design, not just my opinion). I appreciate that not every choice you can make for Penelope leads to a happy ending, and that when that happens, you can go back in time and fix things for her.

There are ten different endings, and having read them all, I do have my favorites.

I like how Peterson makes it clear that Penelope could go either way with each decision—there isn’t a decision that she makes where it would be an “out of nowhere” decision. I think it’s also cool how Peterson is able to include many different types of relationships/tropes: enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, LGBTQIA, one-that-got-away, and more.

I have a few complaints about the story, but overall they didn’t really stop me from super enjoying this book: there were a few editing issues, nothing too bad, and not too frequent, but enough to throw me out of the story briefly; sometimes Penelope seemed to go from being attracted to one guy to being attracted to another (after making a decision to not pursue the first) so fast that it didn’t feel credible—I wished that after making the decision not to pursue the first, more time had been allowed to pass, even a day would have been nice; and I wish there had been more “showing” of the relationship building with some of the guys. I get that it would be hard to do that with so many different storylines—the book is probably pretty long in terms of page count as it is (I read an electronic ARC that didn’t include page numbers). This is a steamy story, and there was lots of showing of Penelope’s sexual compatibility with her suitors, I just wish that had been balanced a little more, in some cases, with showing that they were compatible outside the bedroom, too. (I will say, some “paths” had more of this than others).

Ultimately, I really liked this story. I even went back and reread my favorite paths all the way through, trying to decide which I think was the best one. I only narrowed it down to two—I still can’t quite decide between which of these I think would have been best for Penelope. But maybe that’s the point—we all have multiple paths to happiness!

I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I have read 3 paths in this book and started a 4th. I think the first one is still my favorite, probably because it was the first path I read but also because it was a little kinky….yes there is some insight into my brain! LOL I enjoyed the second and third path but there was a pregnancy involved which ticked it down a notch for me but the guy in those paths (same guy actually) was great! I loved him, just not the pregnancy storyline. I plan to read all the paths in this book. I love this concept of choosing your own path (or Penelope’s path) that this book has laid out! It was easy to click my selection at the end of the chapter of where I wanted the path to go and it took me there. Then at the end of that path I could choose to go back and try a different option on that path or start over. I can’t wait for future books in this series!

I finally finished all the paths. And then checked the website to make sure I did. Lol this book was really enjoyable. I can see picking it up every now and then and following a different story for each read. It's like 10 books in one!

I loved reading choose your own adventure books when I was younger. It’s exciting to decide what the main characters should do in a certain situation. Then when you reach the end of the path, you can go back and reread it with a different ending. There have been countless times in the past that I wished I could do just that, but in a romance book! So, when Isabelle Peterson began talking about an interactive romance, I was extremely excited!

Penelope’s Path tells the story of Penelope Pierce, a recent divorcee living in Connecticut. The book begins with a nice background to get you comfortable with who she is as a character. The choices were perfectly placed in the story and easy to choose. One example is deciding if Penelope should go out clubbing or on a blind date. As you choose, the paths lead Penelope to different types of romances. Some were friends to lovers, a surprise baby, and even a D/s relationship, all with varying heat levels.

Penelope’s Path is an exciting page-turner, and I loved every minute of it!

Penelope’s Path by Isabelle Peterson is a stand-alone book with such a wonderful idea. The book is an interactive book and as you are reading you have the opportunity to choose the path, which Penelope will take. Each path you choose leads you to a different outcome, so it is as if you are reading several different books with the same main character.

We first meet Penelope who is recently divorced with her friends out at a bar and her friends are trying to convince her to be daring and get out into the dating scene again. Throughout the journey you meet 9 men, all different and so interesting. Which of the men do you think is the best pick for Penelope? In some way this book is like watching an episode of The Bachelorette, although you are reading, rather than watching. Ms. Peterson provides a map, which was very helpful to make sure I didn’t miss any of the paths.

Once you start this book you will go back and forth choosing different options. This was a wonderful book to read and I look forward to more surprises from this author.

Penelope’s Path was an absolute one-of-a-kind read. I loved the fact that I was able to choose what happened next and (basically) how the book would end. Intriguing is not even close to the word needed here. I wish more authors would adopt this way of writing. It gave me such a thrill to be able to read and review this title.

The path that I chose was scorching hot!! I mean ... FIRE!!! It took a turn that I never expected and I am so glad that I chose the way that I did. Without telling you too much (such as which path) a dom and sub come into play. When I say hot, I mean HOT!!

With so many possible characters and outcomes, I could have gone back and chosen new routes if I wasn’t pleased with what was happening. Heck, you get more bang for your buck with the way that Isabelle Peterson wrote it. Trust me when I say that you need to take a chance on this interactive read. So unique and thrilling. I will absolutely follow this author from now on!!

Wow, I’m incredibly impressed with this book. I don’t know what I expected, but it wasn’t this and I loved it! Admittedly, I didn’t like all the paths, but that’s understandable as not all of them are HEA’s. But I think that’s one of the reasons I loved the book more. It reminded me of the choose your own adventure books I read as a kid. But the way this was written, it felt like you were reading a different romance novel every single time. Each story went in such a completely different direction that you didn’t feel like you were even reading the same book, Penelope, her life and friends were the only consistency. But the author was also able to give you a different part of Penelope’s story every single time, giving you more depth into her life and letting you fall more in love with her every time, at the same time, staying true to who she is. I think the hardest part is I don’t know which one I liked best, so many of the men absolutely incredible with such different endings. The variety of tropes in one romance novel completely took me by surprise. I was thrilled to read such a different book in my favorite genre. This isn’t a book about fate, but a book showing how each choice effects her future. I definitely recommend this book!

I was a huge fan of the Goosebumps choose your own adventure books growing up so when I saw this one I just knew that I had to read it and oh boy I was not disappointed. So there are nine potential heroes and ten unique endings but I have to admit that I only read one. Once I found William I did not want to let go because he gave me butterflies where they shouldn’t be (if you catch my drift). I won’t go into any detail because I don’t want spoil anything but this story was hot af.

When I was younger, I used to love reading those "Choose Your Own Adventure" books. I couldn't get enough of them and always read every possible path that the book offered. So, when I was presented with an adult romance version of a book like this, I jumped at the chance. Penelope's Path follows divorcee Penelope down 10 different potential romantic paths.

I really had a lot of fun with this book. There were a couple of heroes that I loved and liked the outcome. There were also a couple that I didn't love and was happy I had other choices. John and Mike were my favorite paths. William had to be my least favorite. One thing that I appreciated about the book was at the end of each path, there is a link to bring you back to the other choice you didn't choose originally. It made it easier to navigate. Below, I have included a map of the paths. Don't worry, there are no spoilers. I highly recommend this one. I would love to read more books like this one.

I really enjoyed this concept and would love to see it more. Penelope's Paths was super fun. I would have enjoyed more if I could have really connected to the characters. Penelope in particular. So here you have one woman, nine possible suitors and ten paths to take to a happy ending guaranteed. I followed three paths and liked how they were all unique. Overall I had a blast with this book. The idea of choosing my own way was to exciting. There is room for improvement but I think this premise will definitely take off. I highly recommend Penelope's Paths to all romance readers.

PENELOPE’S PATHS is a charming Choose Your Own Romance story. As you reach an ending and are faced with the choices of Penelope taking a different path, there’s a bittersweetness to leaving each possible love interest behind. But that feeling doesn’t linger long as you become quickly immersed in the exciting anticipation of each new path. And although you are rarely left with lingering questions from a previous path, with only a few exceptions, you are easily drawn into the hopeful potential of where a new path will lead to its own HEA, forming strong attachments to each of the choices you make for Penelope.

I also really like that the emotions are realistic with Penelope demonstrating feelings of insecurity and uncertainty, including making some fallible choices. It’s not all smooth confidence and overblown passion. The characters are well-drawn, and the narrative is fast paced, allowing you to navigate the different storylines fairly effortlessly. After taking each journey with her, I find it hard to choose which one is my favorite. I challenge you to take a trip down Penelope’s paths and decide for yourself what choices you would make. It’s a uniquely captivating and very entertaining experience that I am sure you will enjoy.

This book caught my interest because I loved Choose Your Own Adventure books when I was a kid. Nerd flex, I remember reading them with friends at sleepovers and trying every combination possible. If you know what I am talking about, you will know how this book works.
Penelope is recently divorced and trying to decide if she should give love another chance. Unlike most romance books, as the reader you are going to decide which connection she should pursue. There are a total of ten different paths that Penelope can take and I appreciate that the author lets you know that. There is even a flow chart available on her website outlining the possibilities.
With the unique nature of this book it is hard to give a summary because each of the male characters are very different. The reader holds the power in how the female lead will react to surprising situations or opportunities. I enjoyed the diversity in the paths that Penelope could easily find herself. Some of the male leads are more complicated than they first appear and some of them are jerks. This is not a book to read looking for big feelings. However, it is so much fun and brings nostalgia. It is perfect for a quick and relaxing read.

You choose how the story ends. So many possibilities!

This book is like a “choose your own adventure,” but an adult romance version! You get to “control” the plot! Follow along with Penelope, who is recently divorced and decides to get back into the dating world. So many eligible bachelors, so little time! What dates will she go on? Who will she turn down? The decision is yours! It really makes you think how one small choice can change your entire life. I found Penelope’s character so relatable and loved being inside her head! I think anyone who reads this can relate to her in some way or another!

I absolutely loved the concept of getting to make decisions for Penelope! So many different story lines all wrapped up in 1 book! It’s like you’re reading 10 books in one since there are 10 different paths.

This is the steamiest book I’ve read to date, and I loved every minute of it!

“Okay, wow. I forget how much I loved this story. It was so different and unique. I never thought I would love something like this because I wasn’t even sure what I was about but I’m so happy I gave it try. This book was funny in such a random way. Back to the story, Penelope of course had choices to make. Newly divorce and 27 isn’t easy but that’s what second chances are for right? Add YOU can choose those choices to find Penelope’s happily ever after. If you’re into RH as me you would think, why not a RH? Trust me, this way was better. Different endings to Penelope’s paths. Expect all the emotions, funny situations, off the chart chemistry and se*y scenes.”

“Choose your own adventure” Romance

This was such a fun and unique book as we journey with Penelope down several various romantic paths. I love how each choice seems to bring out a certain aspect of her personality that inevitably leads to the man she ends up with (or doesn’t as is the case a few times). I’m impressed that each pairing was unique - and often varied wildly - while still remaining true to Penelope’s character. I would love to read another book like this by Peterson!

What a fun book, haven't read one in this format before. The author once again gives her readers an amazing read! You get to choose what Penelope does and go back and change it when you're done. You so get different options for her to hopefully find that someone. It all begins with her friends suggesting different ways to meet a guy and you get to choose what directions she should go in. A definite must read!

Well this was a new one for me! I have enjoyed books by Isabelle Peterson before but I have never read an interactive book. Penelope is recovering from her divorce from her cheating husband who she met at school and had been with for years. He was her only boyfriend and although he undermined her constantly and never encouraged her in her career she was gutted to find him cheating on her with not one but three women, that she knew of.

Although Penelope was over him and had convinced herself that she was happy on her own as an independent woman her best friends had other ideas and wanted to get her back into the dating scene, a scene she had never actually been a part of. Penelope has morals, lots of them and her ex husband had never brought out a sexual side of her with his boring lovemaking and so her friends had their work cut out trying to get her out of her PJs and meet men. Here is where the book becomes interactive because every decision has consequences, some end badly, some mean that she misses out on a wonderful relationship but some have a very happy ending and it’s up to you which path Penelope should take and if you don’t like the outcome then choose a different path, there are 10 men to choose from!

Four of the men were adorable and I had made my decision as to who I wanted her to settle down with but then I just had to take another look and although I still liked my first pick I had to admit that there was someone else who was perfect for her.

I really enjoyed this book. Penelope could be prissy but then I got to choose paths that could bring out her hidden wild side, it was entertaining, had its funny moments and must have been a nightmare for the author with all the different threads!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2

I love the idea of a "Choose Your Own" romance!! And I especially appreciate that Isabelle has written it in a first-person POV. The second-person POV found in the classic Choose Your Own Adventure books always drove me nuts.

I wish there were a few more choices available to the reader, but other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed this one. There's a wide range of diverse love interests, super steamy love scenes, and lots of witty banter between the characters. I can't wait to read more books in the series!!

Man! I need a John, a Ridge, a William or even a Mitch! I loved all the options in this book and fell in love with a few of the guys. I connected with Penelope in many ways. It felt like I was going on all these dates with Penelope. But I was able to see which paths didn't work and act as if they didn't happen. Nine men, ten different paths to take! What a ride!

I read Penelope’s Paths. It was interesting to see where she would be if she chose a different path. I loved all the stories, and yes, I read each one. I have my favorite, but I won’t tell you because I’m sure we will all have one guy or storyline we like the best.

This was fun to read and made me think about the choices we make in life. I know we all reminisce about our choices when things aren’t going the way we dreamed they would. And reading this book, you can change the outcome with a different path.

It's a great summer read.

This was interesting for me I like all of Penelope's stories, but I'm not sure I like what if's because I kind of feel like I missed something but I checked I didn't lol. On question who was the man at the club that she thought she recognized before meeting Mitch?
