Heather didn’t think losing Penny would bring along such heartbreak until Penny walked out on her, tired of being strung along. The girl doesn’t understand that Heather is trying to protect her, that Heather must keep her distance so she doesn’t destroy everything around her.But life is about more than just surviving, and Heather wants to start living—beginning with addressing her feelings for her student. After she leaves a gift for Penny on her door, all that’s left is to wait and see if it is enough for Penny to forgive her and come back. Will Penny accept Heather’s feelings in time for a holiday miracle?
It is difficult to push away someone you love especially when you know that love is reciprocated. Heather finds herself lost when Penny leaves and decides to take control and enjoy life which means working to get Penny back. A chance taken, a poem written and they reconcile eventually spending Christmas with Penny's family. Life is good then circumstances arise and Heather asks Penny to move in with her. Amber (Penny's B.F.) is worried about the damage that could occur if the love affair is exposed. So much is still unknown. Heather still has personal secrets to reveal but can she? Trust between the two women must be cemented before reservations are set aside. Bring on part 4.
I rec'd a copy from the author but this is a totally voluntary review.
Penny seems to finally won the heart of her dream woman. Heather still wants to keep the relationship hidden for a while and she has secrets she still needs to open up about. Amber doesn't trust the professor and is concerned for Penny. Will things get worse before they get better I can't wait to find out.
In this third book in this series Heather & Penny finally get together and they spend some wonderful moments together like Christmas with her family. But Heather still struggles to let Penny fully in and reveal anything about her past. They also have to be careful even if Penny isn’t her student anymore, everyone else knowing about them isn’t the cards.
Amber (Penny‘s friend) who is very protective of her friend, isn’t pleased with Heather and doesn’t really trust her. All of this leads to Heather thinking about opening up. But of course it wouldn’t be book 3 out of 5 if everything would be revealed. We are left once more at a point, where you wanna keep on reading and can’t wait for the next book.
All in all it was a very enjoyable read and I’m looking forward to the next one. There was only one moment where I was a bit confused because it felt like the story jumped from Christmas with Penny‘s family to them being alone. It wasn’t clear to me if this happened after Christmas or if this happened before. It‘s totally possible that this was just me and everyone else is ok with. ☺️

"I read a complimentary Advanced Reader Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review." Better Late than Never: An Age Gap Lesbian Romance by Scarlett Grace – Lessons in love book 3. This is another short read. I want more detail. This is not a complaint. I love the characters, Penny and Professor Heather. The story gives me slight angst because I am nosy and need more. I do struggle with interfering, well-thinking family or friends offering destructive tidbits with good intentions. Well, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. I view these folks as attempting to control someone else's life. (A pet peeve) There is one of those in this series. The length of the book makes it hard to dig in. Book 4 looks longer and will open up so many secrets between them. I wish 4 were out tomorrow. This is a fun light read, enjoy.

I was so excited for not only her but for Penny also. Professor Heather realized that she has the right to be happy and to be with the person she wants to. So we see her opening up a little more which is good and this makes Penny happy too. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because I am inpatient and I want the next part now!! Lol. Scarlett Grace writes stories that pull you in and make you wanting the story to not end!! Cannot wait for the next part!
The problem with episodic books is you are out of the scene when you start reading again. This means that, for me, Penny’s reaction feels a bit over the top at first as she was out my head. The Christmas scene at Penny’s parents was short but I liked the way the author used it to emphasise how unusual it was for Heather to have anyone notice her practical needs and do something about it. Of course it is left on a cliff hanger, not new news to us the reader, but more the fact there is more to come, but it ended before we got to it. Do I want to find out what the secret is? Yes! Although this episode and the last were rated as 3, this is okay as most books are not 4 or 5 throughout and tend to ebb and flow.
I have one complaint about each of the stories in this series- they aren’t long enough!!!!
I love the ongoing love story/saga between Heather and Penny. I’m excited that they finally got together in this book but now I’m left needing to know what the whole story to Heathers past is. And of course we’re left hanging!!
This is definitely one of the best lesbian romances I’ve read in a really long time!

Penny accepted the book that Heather left for as an apology. As the two are now in a relationship Heather is starting to feel how a normal life and relationship should be. Penny is still wanting to know about Heather past history. Will she give all the details and how will Penny act.
This was short and sweet. The two women make strides in their relationship and come to accept their love for each other. Heather still has secrets but she wants to start sharing. Sweet story that pulled together some threads but opened the story to more. I received a complimentary copy from the author.
Heather knows she has to do something special to make it up to Penny. In the third part of the series she finds the courage to make her feelings known and to move forward together. Great series.
2 stars. This series is so absurd but dammit the endings keep hooking me and make me want to continue on. It’s not good by any means but it’s entertaining.
