Giselle Lorde hasn’t had a man catch her eye in years. That goes out the window in the lead up to her best friend, Danie’s, island elopement when she meets Roman Brathwaite. Roman is Danie’s fiance’s best friend, but he and Giselle have orbited around each other during their best friends’ entire three year relationship. Until Now. The lust is instant and sparks fly. It mightn’t be forever but Giselle is willing to let Roman rock her life… just for tonight!
Rilzy Adams needs only five things to survive: sushi, coffee, Prosecco, cuddles and words (though not in that order).
She's a lawyer by day - writer by 'whenever she can get the free time' and believes that love makes the world go 'round. It is no small wonder, then, that she can't help but pen tales of people falling in love.
This was such a hot and steamy novelette that ends in a HFN! I've seen a few people that I'm friends with on Goodreads pick this up and I thought it would be a fun one to read while we're still in the "new year." The story itself focuses on Giselle and Roman who are close friends with another couple that decided to get married on New Years Day. Giselle and Roman have this undeniable chemistry that they haven't had the chance to act on because Roman moves around so much as a photographer. It's clear from the very beginning that they are going to enjoy each others company. Roman and his filthy mouth had me weak at the knees. I would have loved to bring in my new year the same way as Giselle (HAHA!). Either way, it you're looking for a fun, sexy, and short story be sure to check this one out. In fact, I saw that we get a follow up story to Giselle and Roman some time in August and I'm already excited to see more of this couple.
If you’re looking for a fun novelette with a HFN and no talk of the future, this is the one. New Year’s Eve, the two best friends of a couple getting married who decide to get together for just one night. Great chemistry, banter, steam.
‘He reached for her, brushing his thumb over lips he couldn’t wait to have under his own. “Say less, beautiful. I got you.”
Purposely saved Just for Tonight for the new year and what a way to kick off 2022 reading.
I love the giddiness in this one. Giselle is 36 and it’s been over three years now since she’s had any dealings with a man but she’s had a huge crush on the best man in her best friend’s wedding, Roman from afar. Literally. He’s a photographer who has been like in Mexico most of the time. She’s basically been crushing on him via photos and stories and the few times he’s managed to come back to link up with his friend (the fiancé of her bestie!) I loved that so much. Rilzy Adams gives us a sprinkle of that girlhood crush innocence with sparkling New Years Eve dresses and then a straight shot with no chaser of sexy.
And the woman breathes life into my soul with her one liners..what woman doesn’t want to hear “I got you.”
Rilzy Adams can't write a bad book, it's impossible! Thank you so much to Rilzy Adams for sending me an ARC copy.
Giselle and Roman's best friends are getting married to each other and ever since they first laid eyes on each other, they've been pining for each other. What better way to ring in the new year than getting your back blown out by a major hottie? I can't think of one.
I usually don't give 42 page novellas 4 stars, except when they are written by Rilzy Adams. Her novellas, although short, are fun, sexy, spicy and sizzling. Miss Rilzy proves it doesn't take all night...uh day, to get the job done!
You learn enough about Roman and Giselle, at the beginning of the story, that keeps you connected to them right up to the time they dive into all of that sexual attraction.
So far, ATE, by this author, is my favorite story. But according to my Goodreads friend, Pamela, SURRENDER, will be my new favorite. All right, I'm ready!!!! lol!!!!
I am, undoubtedly, a Rilzy stan. She never ceases to amaze me. This time she introduced us to Giselle and Roman, two strangers whose best friends are getting married. They’ve never managed to meet until now. Giselle has been on a personal hiatus from men and relationships for years now, but Roman is just the man the doctor ordered to break it.
Roman has been entranced by Giselle from the moment he laid eyes on her. The last thing he wants to do is make things awkward at his best friend’s wedding, but Giselle is beautiful and intelligent, an irresistible combination. He’s willing to take whatever he can get from her, even if it’s only for tonight.
Giselle and Roman were SPICY ok! The chemistry between the two of them was off the charts. I couldn’t get enough of them. I completely relayed to Giselle. if someone like Roman came along? Well let’s just say, I wouldn’t hesitate.
If you want a quick, low angst, but high chemistry read make sure you give this one a try.
I'm attempting to log books I've read since 2022 so apologies if I clog your feed!
Just read it for the smut.

what a charming, short & steamy NYE novella!! really enjoyed this KU read, it was exactly what i was looking for🙌🏻
Content Notes: Giselle is a 36yo Black woman who's been celibate a few years bc of "man problems," and idk how old Roman is (mid 30s?) but he is also Black & a photographer. They meet when their besties both elope to get married in Antigua on NYE and are immediately into each other
Content Warnings: i think Alcohol consumption is the only one
RONAN IS YUMMY! This book was so sweet and everything that I needed to end my year. I love the way that Rilzy Adams writes and crafts her stories and characters. This is no exception!
quick, spicy, hot. that’s what i came for and that’s what i got. not too connected with the characters since it’s such a short book but still found it enjoyable.
Wheww.... just enough! This novelette gave us a lil spice, lil sexy, but a whole lotta BDE!!🥵 Roman & Giselle took it up a notch!! Talk about living in the moment!!
Favorite quote: “I know you know you fine, and I know there’ve been people sweating you. Hell, I had to talk myself out of it fifty-leven times since we’ve been here.”
Thoughts: CHILE THIS LIL NOVELLA WAS GOODT!! I loved the way these two had been feelin each other from jump but was too scared to say anything had me dying. But seriously can we talk about how FIONE Roman is!? Chile thats a man right there and he was playing no games with Ellie at all! Lowkey i want a full book on them cuz their dynamic was everything to me!
a solid novella, didn't pretend to be a romance (which I appreciated) and gave a decent slice of life, spicy read.
I'm not the biggest romance novella girl as it is (definitely need a full-length story to give me the emotional connection I crave), but if you're the kind that doesn't mind a little sm*t without feelings, this will probably do the trick.
I just needed a quick read to make me feel like I've read more this month than I have lol
If I read "Over a man, at her big age" one more time I might just chuck my kindle. This had promise given it was a vacation wedding best man and maid of honor romance during the holiday. However the fact the were pinning over each other but had never seen each other a day in their life really worked my nerve.
I wish I could overlook it and just finish the 42 pages... but life's too short and my attention span is even shorter.
Short and sweet and exactly what I was looking for to start this year’s reading journey. I am definitely a fan of Rilzy’s writing because it feels so authentic and like I’m chilling with the girls. I’ll be reading a lot more of her catalog this year! Cheers to 2022! 🎉
"Just for Tonight" by Rilzy Adams is short, sweet, and definitely scalding hot! New Year's Eve and no expectations are at the forefront as Giselle and Roman let their reservations down for one night only. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the sequel, "How About Forever?
This was a slow burn for such a short novella - nothing happened until 65% in. However, I can’t fault the first 64% for building the characters, but there definitely could have been more. At least the rest of the night/into the next morning.
This novelette is pure smut and escapism. The writing is so smooth I can see why the author is so popular, and since she's from Antigua I'll definitely look for more of her books set there, preferably ones where the characters leave the hotel. (Not criticizing, I knew what I was in for here.)
I enjoyed Just For Tonight. Because it was a short story, however, I wish that the storyline had focused more on Roman and Giselle. For a longer book I would have had more interest in the backgrounds of the best friends, but for Just For Tonight, I didn't really care. I wanted Roman and Giselle to get down to business. I definitely enjoyed being able to read a polished draft that wasn't full of errors! I appreciate that a LOT!
